Niccoyan Zheng is a Canadian wife, mother, and foodie. The written word has always held her captive. Even before her debut novel “Consumed,” her characters have been urging her to write their stories for years. She looks forward to sharing their diversity, complexity and flaws.
I almost DNF'd it, but it was short enough I just powered through. The plot itself was fine, but good grief, the typos! So. Many. Typos. If basic grammar/punctuation aren't correct, I find it a huge distraction from everything else.
The main issue was a severe lack of consistency (possibly even understanding) of how to properly format dialogue. “I have something in mind.” She told him. First, that period after 'mind' should be a comma. Second, 'she' should be lowercase. That's basic convention. This is only one instance of many. Then sometimes, comma/lowercase letter were used when they shouldn't have been. Additionally, paragraphs were messy. On a few occasions, multiple characters spoke in the same paragraph, and sometimes dialogue tags were not in the same paragraph with the dialogue they belonged to. Both of these things made conversations difficult to follow.
The secondary issue was sentence fragments. There were multiple instances where one sentence should have been part of the one either before or after it. Maybe there's a stylistic argument to be had, but here it just came across as awkward and clumsy.
I'm glad it only took a day or so to read because any longer would've been a waste of time.
Sensory Desire is a quick, hot read by Niccoyan Zheng. Evan lost his sight and engaged Seraphina and her company to help with the transition from sightedness to being unsighted. His feelings became romantic and instead of asking her out on a date he tried the transactional route. She was not impressed and rebuffed him. After time apart and some soul searching he approached her again. He was a part of the BDSM lifestyle and she was intrigued. The story is told from both perspectives and was both sensual and sweet.
4.5/5 🌟 10/10🌶 I never heard of the "Club Desire" series prior to the romance book giveaway. As I was scrolling the long list of erotic free books this book caught my attention because the main male character, Evan, lost his sight, so he adjusted every part of his life including him being a Dom. Seraphine rejected him in the beginning, which was understandable, but she eventually opened up allowing herself to feel things she never felt before. I enjoyed reading her character development as well as Evans. This book was a short spicy read, and I enjoyed it.
This has been my favorite of this series so far. The description and detailed telling of this story was spot on. I enjoyed following the development of this relationship. Losing one’s sight has got to be so very hard and difficult to adjust to. These two managed to make their D/s relationship work. It was very hot to be able to watch how.
Evan is a man who goes after what he wants. He was patient and did not give up. Fina was into him but his proposition wasn’t taken well so that prompted things to go left. But of course eventually things go right. I just wanna say if it was me, I would’ve had no issue with that proposition at all. Spend all your money on me baby!
Thankfully this is not a plunge into sensory play. Rather a slow ease as the relationship between the heroine and hero builds. I love how there is both depth to the relationship as well as the scenes. This is my favorite out of the series so far.
This book is a breath of fresh air in the romance genre, exploring uncharted territories with a nuanced approach to disability and the world of BDSM. With a captivating beginning, Sensory Desire held me enthralled. Evan and Seraphina's story transcends conventional boundaries, proving that love and desire are boundless forces that can overcome societal norms.
One of the standout features of this novella is its portrayal of Evan's disability. In a genre where diverse perspectives are sometimes overlooked, this book shines a spotlight on a character navigating life after losing his sight but can handle the BDSM world with finesse. This unique angle adds a layer of authenticity to the story, allowing readers to empathize with Evan's challenges and triumphs in a way that is both enlightening and empowering.
Their mutual exploration is delicately portrayed, making it a pleasant and immersive read.
i just finished Sensory Desire by Niccoyan Zheng and i must say i enjoy it. We have Evan and Seraphina who had strong feelings for each other. But they got off on the wrong feet and they met a year later and Evan tried to make things right between them. The story was very different because Evan is blind and he is older than Seraphina. Seraphina has some issues with Evan and she doesn't know how to deal with it. The ''sexy times" was straight fire and it left me speechless and there was some jaw dropping scenes as well. Niccoyan Zheng always leave you wanting more with all her books. if you want steam and heat this is the book for you and I highly recommend this book. i give this book a well deserved five-stars.
