The author argues that the Ayodhya movement, which wants to reintegrate the sacred place of Ram Janmabhoomi into the living tradition by building a Mandir on it, is at the same time an invitation to the Indian Muslims to reintegrate themselves into the society and the culture from which their ancestors were cut off by fanatical rulers and their theologians. It should therefore be seen as an exercise in national integration.
Flemish writer and orientalist (without institutional affiliation).
Koenraad Elst was an editor of the New Right Flemish nationalist journal Tekos 1992 to 1995 and also contributed to other Flemish seperatist publications like Nucleus, 't Pallieterke, Secessie and The Brussels Journal.
Koenraad Elst is one of the most well-known western writers to actively defend the Hindutva movement.
Another great book by Koenraad Elst. I have read his another book Ayodhya: The Case Against The Temple. It was good too. I am glad i read this book. This book offers lot of views and it was quite interesting. So far i have 7 books of Koenraad Elst. He is someone who can you can rely on.
This ironically reminded me of another polemic - Pakistan by Ambedkar who is considered anti-Hindu (Ambedkar's was better) Both books expose the futile efforts and apologetic stance of Congress/pseudo-secularists with respect to co-inhabitation with Muslims in India. This book exposes the lies, the falsifications of the macaulite Press and intellectuals wrt the Ayodhya movement. A fast read too. I believe that apologetic behaviour along with negationism leads to a false sense of victimhood in the other party. And this book examines riots, bans, religion, history in this light.
