You are called to Truth. Jesus came to fulfill Scripture, to seek and save the lost, and to testify to the truth. But truth can sometimes take a minute to grasp because we contend with it in a variety of ways under a variety of circumstances. Once Jesus collides with our lives—our deepest needs, cultural biases, personal motivations, even prideful objections—the outcome can be infuriating. Or exhilarating. Or anything in between. In The Chosen Book Four, explore the angles from which you can better see Jesus and the things He taught. Learn from His followers how to really hear. To repent. To wait on His wisdom and timing. To obey. Written to accompany the hit multi-season series, each of these forty devotions contains a Scripture, a unique look into a Gospel story, suggestions for prayer, and questions that lead you further in your relationship with Christ. May we welcome His rebuke and testify to the Truth who is ever working within us...the outcome of which will, indeed, be nothing short of exhilarating.
Amanda Jenkins, before life as a homemaker and mother of four, worked in sales and marketing for a number of Christian retailers, as well as in visual communications and advertising. She spent ten years in L.A. alongside her film-making husband, surrounded by plastic surgery and high-falutin’ lifestyles, which is where she became convicted and inspired to write about her struggle with perfectionism. Amanda attended Northwestern Bible College and graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies and Communications. She has taught Bible studies for women of all ages for the past 14 years, and is passionate about communicating truth in a culturally relevant and humorous way. Today, she lives just outside of Chicago with her husband, Dallas, and their four young children, including their newly adopted son. She is also the daughter-in-law of Jerry B. Jenkins.
Although Book 4 of this Chosen series does not specifically focus on the show as much as in past books, I feel this book used the scriptures and the writing to help me think about life in a deep way. Going through these forty days really helped me look at my personal spiritual life and my relationship with Jesus at a super comprehensive level.
I loved all of the scriptures, I loved diving deeper with some of the mentioned scripture references and stories. I loved the prayer focus for the day, and I loved how the three questions at the end helped me stop life for just a little while and focus and reflect on how I’m doing with God.
This book still often helped me visualize Matthew or Simon Peter saying or doing some of the things in the book, so this book did a lot to take me back to Jesus.
Another hit! This devotional series does a fantastic job of blending a personable and entertaining tone with rock-solid theology and well-researched points. And, as per usual, I’m amazed at the way God reveals His timing through the cited passages, prayer prompts, and reflection points. Time and again, He’s brought me just the right word at just the right time via the pages of these devotionals. Cannot recommend enough!
I enjoyed this latest The Chosen devotional as I have the previous ones, and I look forward to the one that will be produced to accompany Season 5. Days 25, 35, and 36 were more memorable to me. I like the way the authors help apply Scripture to today. I also like it when they connect OT and NT texts. I love reading this with a friend and reflecting together on what we're learning.
The Chosen "40 Days with Jesus" series continues to be a great inspiration for me, and a beautiful way to start each day. Each day is an insightful chance to look at your faith and the power of God that is within each of us. This series gives one a daily chance to address that power and test and renew your own faith. Keep them coming!!!
Another excellent devotional from The Chosen! Deep and thoughtful daily devotionals that take a few minutes of your time to read with though provoking questions to help you dig deeper into applying it to your own life and circumstances. I highly recommend this devotional!
