The Tamsin Kernick Cozy English Mysteries #3

Down Dog!: A Tamsin Kernick English Cozy Mystery

Rate this book
Peace reigns in October in the misty Malvern Hills, right in the Heart of England … or does it?

Just as Tamsin Kernick is settling down to enjoying training her clients’ puppies and dogs and not solving murders, a dead body is found at the foot of the fire escape after a yoga class given by her gentle housemate, Emerald.

Did the poor girl fall, or was she pushed? And why was this experienced forager showing symptoms of deadly mushroom poisoning?

With some unsavoury things going on at the Health Shop, upheavals in the local Food for Free movement, and connections with racehorse-doping into the bargain, Tamsin finds herself facing real danger as she attempts to unravel the mystery.

Can her faithful furry friends get to her rescue in time and sniff out the killer?

Down Dog! is the entertaining third book in the Tamsin Kernick English Cozy Mysteries series. If you enjoy gripping mysteries which are hard to put down, delightful dogs, quirky characters, and the beauty of the English countryside in Autumn, you’ll love Lucy Emblem’s latest warmhearted story.

I was not very convinced of the proposed perpetrator(s) - if it were for me to be the judge at their trial, I would have trouble being convinced they are really the killers. But since they were convinced to confess ... ehhh...

Once again Tamsin is involved with solving a mystery. She is at the café with Emerald before one of Emerald’s yoga classes & they both notice that one younger lady looks very ill. She insists she’ll be ok but leaves early to go out of the back to the fire escape for fresh air. Next morning she is discovered dead on the ground. Definitely murder. Poisoned by Death Cap mushroom & then pushed to her death later. Lots of trails to follow & gradually it seems there was more than one person involved. A chance remark by someone gives a vital clue. Tamsin is attacked but her 3 dogs & one of the yoga people save the day. A good read, some of which took me back to a visit I made there many years ago. A truly beautiful area to visit.

Tasmin and Emerald are at the yoga class when Gabrielle feels unwell and then is found dead outside the cake-shop the next day. She was one of Emerald ‘s yoga students and she had been found by Kylie. Tasmin and Emerald with the help of Feargal go about trying to find evidence to clear Emeralds name. There is a lot of twist and turns to make this a exciting read. I enjoyed this read and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

A Satisfying Murder Mystery Read

This story has us getting to learn more about Emerald, Tamsin's roommate, and Feargal the local reporter. The story weaves in and out of the local characters as they are interviewed by Tamsin, Emerald and/or Feargal as the trio try to solve the murder of Gabrielle, one of Emerald's yoga students. And you can't discount the assistance of the locals as they pitch in to help! This is a great cozy to curl up with and enjoy.

Down Dog finds Tamsin involved in a murder investigation again.
The victim is known to Tamsin, so she has an interest in solving it.
Who who have had a motive to complete this heinous act? What kind of person would have capable of doing the deed?
The book will s a pleasure to read, with a strong contingent of friends, dogs and cats. The plotting is clever.
I will be reading more by Lucy Emblem.

Another interesting mystery set in the Malvern Hills in England, this one had quite a cast of characters and the possible murderer was difficult for me to work out. I was wrong in who I settled on! Very enjoyable.

I was given a free copy of this book. I am writing a completely honest and voluntary review. Early in the story, a young lady fell down the fire escape. Our civilian sleuths decide they must find out if it was an accident or murder. Quite exciting page turned with the added enjoyment of the dogs. Would have liked to see the dogs be more active in solving this crime but book was worth 5 stas!
