As a child, I was absolutely fascinated by the epic Mahabharata. Every week, my dad would bring home 5 DVDs of the series, and we’d sit together and watch the episodes with excitement. I was captivated by every character — each one so vividly portrayed.

But the one who left the deepest impression on me was Shakuni Mama — the mastermind, the strategist. The mama no one ever gets in real life — one who sacrificed his entire kingdom and life for his bhanjas. A character that’s complex, controversial, yet unforgettable.

Recently, I read the book #Shakuni by author Harsha, and it brought back all those memories in a fresh new light. In this book, the characters from Mahabharata come alive again — but in a completely different and modern setting. There’s suspense, a gripping murder mystery, and clever twists that keep you hooked till the end.

The way the author connects the ancient epic with a modern-day plot, even blending elements of Maharashtra’s culture into the narrative, gives the story a realistic and intriguing touch.

If you love murder mysteries and have even a slight interest in mythology, this book is a must-read! Plus, you’ll pick up a bit of Mahabharata lore along the way.

Hats off to the author. Actually, after reading a few crime novels, I despise thrillers. And I'm unsure about my decision to purchase this book. The cover was the sole reason I purchased this book. And the author proved me wrong. This book is a hundred times better in its inside than it is on the outside.

When they decoded the truth, the freezing effect extended all the way down my spine and I almost had goose bumps. The plot and tale were very beautifully written. I can't stop myself from suggesting this worthwhile read. I'm not going to give any spoilers because I want you to get the same vibe I did. So, what are you waiting for? Go get your copy.

An exceptional read. A refreshing take on the misunderstood character. The parallels drawn between the modern-day story and the great epic are inspired. I really enjoyed the build,the tension, the trauma, and the revenge. It was truly a captivating read.
