Sabotaged brakes didn’t kill Rueben Sanchez, but waiting for his assailants’ trial to start just might. A potential witness for the prosecution can’t explore his lusty feelings for the hunky sheriff who saved him, but that doesn’t stop his imagination from running wild. Rueben has already shaped his traumatic mountainside meet cute with Seth Burke into a happily ever after to tell their future grandkids. When the delay threatens to stretch on for years, Rueben feels his dreams slipping out of reach. Should he surrender gracefully or fight for his man?

Pressure and scrutiny are nothing new to Seth, but shouldering his duties has never felt like a burden until they keep him from the man he wants most. Cracking an unsolved murder, safeguarding a high-profile trial, and winning re-election should be enough to keep him busy. But he can’t stop thinking about the perfect weekend he shared with Rueben before everything careened off course. Are they as good together as Seth remembers, or is his memory swayed by the allure of the forbidden? And does he dare to find out?

Late-night phone calls and shared secrets lead to stolen kisses and a lakeside cabin rendezvous. But one encounter isn’t enough, and the two men will risk everything to explore their deepening bond. When a series of chilling events rock the county, Rueben and Seth must put more than their hearts on the line because one misstep could prove fatal.

The Keeper is book five in the Redemption Ridge series. Though each story features a different couple, reading the series in order is essential. The Keeper contains mature themes and is intended for adults.

Secret romances are hard to pull off without the reader sometimes feeling like one of the MCs is being hurt by said hidden element.

Not here though, here it's absolutely vital that no-one knows about the romance between Sheriff Seth Burke and ranch hand Rueben Sanchez because both are involved in one of the biggest trials that has hit the small Colorado town that's home to both.

Seth and Rue had one unbelievable weekend nine months earlier, shortly after Seth helped save Rue's life when his truck's brakes were cut, plunging him off a cliffside, the kindly Sheriff kept him sane while they waited for rescue teams and Rue was smitten.

It's clear the attraction is completely mutual though and the tension sparks every time they're in the same room.

With UST off the charts, lingering looks and pining for days, things come to a head when it looks like there might be a two year delay in the trial of two men from the cultish Salvation Anew, (the suspense plot which has been running throughout this series).

There's additional complications with Seth's ex, now a reporter on a big Denver paper, returning to try and get an exclusive, the 25th anniversary of his cousin's unsolved murder, Seth's up for re-election as Sheriff and it's possible the two missing members of Salvation Anew might be hanging around town.

Aimee really delivers on this romance here, it could have felt a bit of an anti-climax when things start to go wrong with the trial and there's more than meets the eye when one of the defendants' lawyers agrees to discuss a plea bargain with the local district attorney.

But instead, she gives the reader an ever-increasing sense of dread and danger as the threat level rises and Seth and Rue cement their relationship with secret meetings at a cabin in the woods where they think they can be alone.

Of course, all the proverbial secrets come home to roost and the shit hits the fan in an epic way before we get a chance to reach a happy ending. The pacing ramps up and as more and more information comes out, there's unforeseen twists and links coming out of the woodwork which makes the final third of the book an absolute headrush.

I loved both these men and I completely bought into their relationship and their long term happiness. My only niggle with the book, and why it's not a 5* for me, is that I wanted to see more of them once the danger was over.

I wanted a chance of seeing more of them in a normal situation rather than all the secret heightened tension related sexual encounters we'd had throughout the book. It's a minor quibble though, there's absolutely a HEA for these two on the cards.

Plus, Aimee totally made me happy when she revealed there'll be two more Redemption Ridge stories to come, with Seth's cousin Kerry up next with Rue's best friend, and Salvation Anew victim, Keegan, as his love.

Then Kerry's step-brother, the fabulous Sven, will be getting a festive novella come December and that's one I'm dying to get my hands on because he totally stole my attention in his brief appearance here in The Keeper!

When the truck Rueben Sanchez was driving went off the road, he thought he was going to die. But the gorgeous sheriff showed up like an angel and made him believe he would live until he was rescued. The connection between Rueben and Seth Burke was instant, and neither man could deny it. But with a pending investigation, they knew their one weekend together was all they could have.
Nine months later, the case is finally coming to trial. Seth can’t get Rueben out of his head and would give anything for the case to conclude so they can explore what’s between them. Rueben has always known that he’s the one for Seth, and though he will wait as long as he has to, he doesn’t want to. The lawyers for the leaders of "Salvation Anew" are ready to do everything they can to delay things, and it might be years before it’s fully resolved. Neither Ruben nor Seth can wait so they start meeting in secret.

As the days pass, they fall more in love. But each moment they spend together could put the case, and Seth’s reelection, in jeopardy. With a nosy reporter, who happens to be Seth’s ex, sniffing around and Seth’s opponent climbing the polls, they do their best to be discreet. But it all comes to a head when one of the suspects is found dead. Seth can’t hide his love for Rueben anymore, and Rueben is ready to step up as well. Their love is real and lasting, and together, they’ll make sure it all works out.

This is the fifth book in Aimee Nicole Walker’s Redemption Ridge Series. Tis is a series that absolutely should be read in order. While each book features a different couple, the plot of the "Salvation Anew" troubles ties them all together. Seth and Rueben met much earlier in the series, and a bit of their story has been in the background of other books. And oh, how I was looking forward to them finally getting their happily ever after.

There's a lot going on besides the romance and the case. There is also the mystery of Seth’s cousin’s murder that’s gone unsolved for twenty-five years. The "big ending" for this book, and much of the action, ties both of these things together. I really enjoyed this book. The Ruben and Seth have really carried this whole series throughout. It was great to see them finally getting everything that they deserved.

I’m a fan of both this series, and this author. I love her complex characters, and the twisting and turning storylines. If you haven’t yet, you might want to give either this series or one of her other series... a try.

The Keeper tells us the story of Rueben and Seth, whose sort of meet-cute was a literal life or death situation. As you can imagine, tension and emotions were running high at that particular meeting. Seth is the Sheriff of their town, which means his involvement in the situation also extends to investigating it as well. Here in lies the problem, because the town Sheriff dating a victim of a crime he's investigating is a big no no. Not to mention that said crime is also part of a much larger investigation that the police have been working on for months.

They give each other one weekend. 48 hours to explore each other in private and then go their separate ways. But chemistry like these two have is hard to ignore, though I will say they do give it a good try.

Rueben and Seth adored one another. They were absolutely enamored. Once they confessed their feelings to one another when being apart became too hard, the only angst came from the fact that they had to hide their relationship. Both wished they could tell the world about their luck in love.

There were a few twists and side plots that happened along with the romance. And I was so glad to see Keegan doing so well after what he'd been through. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that he and Kerry are getting a book!! I have a feeling I'm going to love those two! Oh! and Sven. That sassy little stylist seems like he's going to be fun too!

I love how Aimee Nicole Walker built the tension between Rueben and Seth throughout the series, and their own story was full of stolen moments, steamy encounters and suspense!

Seth and Rueben had sparks and chemistry for days! I've loved seeing the glimpses of their attraction to each other in the previous books, and after Rueben's accident it seemed like things got extra intense between them. With Seth being the sheriff and Reuben being a witness in a big case, they couldn't act on their feelings until after the trial though.

These two just couldn't stay away from each other for that long, and against their better judgement, they kept meeting up in secret. I loved the emotions between Rueben and Seth - the pining, the longing, their explosive chemistry when they found moments to be together... And the secret / forbidden state of their relationship enhanced things really well. I liked how it was written and the way they both needed to keep it a secret - it never felt one sided or like one of them was hurting by keeping it a secret.

The trial and case added some suspense to the story, and there was a bit of extra complication with Seth's ex digging around it as a reporter as well. Seth and Rueben couldn't risk anyone finding out about them, but they weren't willing to step away from each other either, and I loved the tension it added to the story.

The Keeper was a fantastic read and Aimee Nicole Walker did a great job of building both the romance and tension between Rueben and Seth, but also the suspense and feeling of impending doom. It was definitely worth the wait to see these two find their HEA together, and I loved being back at Redemption Ridge!

I've been waiting on Rueben and Seth's story and it was definitely worth the wait.

They met during a life and death situation with Rueben being stuck in a car after careening of the side of the road and Seth comforting him. The tension between both culminates into a weekend spent together to get said tension out of way.

This was now nine months ago and both still feel very strongly for eachother but because of the investigation into Salvation Anew in which Rueben is a witness and Seth is the Sheriff, they can't be together the way they want to.

Every time they run into eachother the longing and pining is so strong it leads to them secretly meeting to spend some time together. There's added tension with the arrival of someone from Seth's past and the anniversary of his sister's death.

I absolutely adored both men, the love they had for eachother was very clear to see. They were all in to make things work. And the further we get into the trial, the more things are revealed which made me sit on the tip of my seat to find out if they would get the happy ending they deserved.

This has been a great series and to find out that Ms Walker is giving us another extra two books for Keegan and Sven made my day.

Rue and Seth ❤️

4.5 Stars ⭐️

OMG, I'm officially in love with this couple. Seriously, I have waited for these two since Aimee Nicole Walker gave us a taste of this pairing and let me tell you...the pay off was perfection 💋 my heart went out to these two men with equal measure, as forbidden as this relationship was the pull to one another was something that neither could control even if they wanted to. Both have so much lose but losing each other was never an option especially to their hearts ❤️ the relationship build was quite sweet, these two were like two halves of a whole. I always appreciate a love that is built on connection first rather than chemistry, now don't get me wrong these two were absolute fire together but that wasn't what defined their feelings. Even though this relationship had some outside forces working against it, the heart wants what the heart wants,Rueben and Seth fought and found their HEA ❤️. These two are my favorite couple of this series but I may change my mind because Kerry and Kee's story cannot come fast enough!!! I would absolutely recommend this story, it was everything.

I've been looking forward to this book for a while, and I was not disappointed.

Nine months ago, Rueben, the target of the Salvation Anew cult, and Sheriff Seth spent one sizzling weekend with each other.
Unfortunately, with members of the cult now under investigation, Rueben and Seth have a choice; either forget that weekend ever happened or bide their time and play the long game.
But Rueben has something to prove!! Rueben is not "a keeper" but "THE keeper".

Secret romances are never easy, especially when one member is a lawman hoping for re-election and the other is an ex-con. But Seth and Rueben work!!
I loved that there was no miscommunication between the pair. Their stolen time away were hot and steamy, but they also spent hours getting to know each other on an emotional level.

The Keeper is a wonderful addition to this series!
Although The Keeper wraps up the arc story of the Salvation Anew cult, Mrs Walker is extending the series with 2 more books. First, we will get Keegan's story, and I can't wait!!!

Aimee does the suspense and the dramatic the best! I could go on and on about her style of writing and how many books she has done this so successfully. However I will just say, go pick up any of her series and you can't go wrong. Aimee yet again spun a great tale over this series.

Now for this book specifically I have adored Rue through this whole series. He has just the biggest heart. (yeah yeah he gives Cash a run for his money) Seth is a perfect compliment to him. Those two are just sweetness personified. The whole cast of characters are present and the way this story plays out kept me in suspense and I finished it all in one go. Loads of tidbits for the upcoming books which I cannot wait for, just amazing men all around.

The over arching storyline has been intriguing and at times just flat out makes me angry. Not at the writing but the premise presented. The baddies are just the worst out there. I have been pulling for the comeuppance for the whole lot. I won't go into great detail and spoil it but I felt so good at the end of this book.

You can’t help but fall in love with the men of Redemption Ranch.

Rue felt an instant connection to the rugged sheriff, Seth, when he saved his life from near death. With the trial against the dangerous cult, Salvation Anew, looming, Rue and Kee are desperate to see justice served so they can finally move on.

But just as things seem to settle, devastating news threatens to extinguish the slow-burning fire between Rue and Seth. Their desire, impossible to deny, pushes them into stolen, secret moments—proof that their love knows no bounds.

As the search for the last remaining cult members intensifies, shocking evidence surfaces: the murder of Seth’s cousin, a cold case buried for 25 years, might finally be solved.

Twists, tension, and passion explode in this thrilling installment. I can’t wait for the next book!

It had been nine months since Sheriff Seth and a victim Rueben had their weekend fling and decided to separate until after the trial was completed. Only the trial still wasn't happening and it's been killing them. Longing, misunderstanding and jealousy plague them as the wait drives them crazy. The sexual tension drives this book as it seems to take forever for them. It's also filled with a lead up to the trial,, violence, death and a twenty five year old mystery. I loved it! I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.

I really liked this. Reuben and Seth are so deeply in love. You can feel it, even before they admit it to themselves. They're extremely passionate, and do what needs to be done to be together. With what's going on outside of their relationship, it's a risk to take, but it's worth it. We get their story and how they make it work, how they fall even harder, but we also get angst and a couple of surprises. It's a great addition to this series and I can't wait for the next installment.

Reuben and Seth you have killed me 😭 real talk though this series had a bit of a slow start for me. The first books didn't really grab me but I'm so glad i stuck with them because as I got to know all the characters more each story got better and better until they all made me swoon. I think Seth and Reuben take the cake for my favorite though, hands down.

From the very beginning we all know they are meant for each other. Their love story has been written since book 3 and the waiting made it all the sweeter. They can't be together in the beginning due to outside forces but that doesn't stop them returning to each other's arms again and again.

It's a story about the perseverance of love and two people who are so clearly meant to be together nothing can keep them apart. With a little suspense and mystery thrown in and lots of found family and sweet moments, this book is a keeper in more ways than one.

Ugh I really hate writing negative reviews. It’s really not personal. But… 1.5 rounded. It doesn’t usually take me this long to finish this kind of book. I actually stopped and read a short story partway through because I needed a break and something fresh and exciting for a change. The dialogue throughout this series is very weird. That’s true here and it was true in the previous iterations. It’s kind of condescending? Not sure what the right word here is… The characters speak so unnaturally and as if they need to state every thing and every feeling to make sure the reader understands. There was even less of the ranch people here than before (the appearances have been getting less with each book) and that is a real shame because since the start, that dynamic and friendship was probably the only good thing about this series. Also this was supposed to be the last book of the series. Wth! I’m not at all motivated to stick with this for two more books. It’s just gonna be more of the same.

Lastly, this was a whole bunch of nothing. The action never really got started until chapter 12 (out of 16). And then it promptly ended in chapter 13. And speaking of, I need to understand the jump in Seth's mind from “Quinton was broken out of jail transport” to “Rueben's in danger”. I mean Rueben really was in danger but that was of course going to happen because he's one of the MCs and that's unfortunately reason enough for some authors. Even though logically it doesn't make any sense. Actually scratch that. I don’t need to understand it. I don’t really care enough. Only reason this isn’t 1 star is that there were two or three moments of enjoyment sprinkled here and there.

Edit: I was about to return this to KU when I noticed that I’d highlighted these two gems of dialogue. Enjoy:

1) context: this is one of the four big bad guys of the series, confessing his crimes and what not. You can see here how terrifying and hair-raising what he says is. It sure made me laugh out loud in the middle of what was supposed to be an oh so serious situation. He’d just coughed or something…
“I’m choking because I’ve hated you for nearly all my life,” Reggie snarled. “I’ve spent the last few years planning ways to destroy your reputation and life the way your witness statement did to my family. Humiliating you in front of the townsfolk suddenly didn’t feel like enough for what you did to my family, and I decided to kill your boyfriend.” Reggie raised his hand to his bandaged face. “Guess he won that battle.”

2) context: Sheriff whoever just learned of the identity of the person who murdered his cousin Natalie twenty five years ago. The murderer’s name is Cynthia and she’s been a close family friend for all these years. So you can imagine how shocking and heartbreaking finding this out is for him. Exhibit A…
Cynthia? Natalie’s sister from another mister or whatever they used to say?

I wanted to love this so much more than I did, but to be honest, I was just bored. I think on their own, both Rueben and Seth are super interesting and compelling characters, but this was the third book in a row for this series that had the two MCs basically in love from the first page on, and the rest of the story really had nothing to do with that. I really don't know how you manage to make the romance the B-plot in your MM romance book, but it happened. Again. I think it kind of worked for Owen/Tyler because the both of them had a lot of individual and family work to do and that was still interesting. But Cash/Nick and Rueben/Seth being more about Salvation Anew than anything to do with them and not giving the relationship anywhere to go made me feel like I was reading a different book.

I'm super excited for Keegan and Kerry's book, I think Keegan is going to have a lot of work to do still and that will be so good, and now that (fucking hopefully) the Salvation Anew plot and finally fully done, we can have a little more energy like the first two books of people who actually get the chance to grow and fall for each other.

Good ending to the series.

Good ending to the series. I've loved how the suspense has built throughout, from the beginning to the end of the story. The story is a well written page-turner that had me hooked from the very beginning. The mystery and suspense elements are expertly woven together, creating a gripping story that just unfolds seamlessly. The pacing is spot-on, with just the right balance of twists and turns. I enjoyed Seth and Reuben together, the development of their relationship was so organic and sweet. The electricity between them positively sizzled. Recommended for anyone who loves a thrilling and well-crafted mystery! This is not a standalone, the books must be read in order.

I'm so pleased that the author decided to add another couple of books to the series, can't wait to read about Kerry, Keegan, Sven and Dominic; also, it'll be nice to catch up with characters from the previous books.

I’ve loved this series since the first book and this one is no different, Rue and Seth were so sweet with each other and I just wanted them to be together. I really liked the dynamics both characters had with their friends and family around them and they both felt fleshed out and had distinct personalities and voices. Aimee Nicole Walker is one of my fave MM romance authors, her writing style is so beautiful and her characters always hit me right in the feels.

Review:
I didn't think that I could love anyone in this series more than Tyler and Owen, but these two were just so special! Rueben has had his eye on the sexy sheriff for a little while now, but after Seth was the first on-scene when Rueben went over a cliff while driving a sabotaged car, he basically half falls in love with the sweet, concerned, and flirty sheriff who's attention Rueben has caught. Rueben took this chance to pounce on Seth, and a few weeks after they had a weekend together at Seth's secluded cabin where they pulled a Cash and Nick and just fucked and talked for 3 days straight before they had to separate as Seth was investigating the case Rueben is a victim of (see: MASSIVE conflict of interest). Meanwhile, Keegan has become great friends with Rueben, as they are both the only single guys on Redemption Ridge and they are both involved in the problems with Salvation Anew. Seth and Rueben have tried to avoid each other until the investigation is over due to their inability to keep to themselves around each other, but when circumstances around the case mean it might be dragged out a few more years, Rueben can't keep his distance from Seth any more, and they both find themselves entertaining secret rendezvous at Seth's cabin while trying to work hard for Seth's re-election and for the case.

These two are just so perfect for each other, I absolutely adored and ate up their dynamic. Seth has wanted someone to call his, someone who is completely obsessed with him, and Rueben is not only obsessed but so flirty and their banter is so funny and steamy. Rueben loves the control that Seth can wield over his body and his also loves his massive 🍆 (his big dick energy was no joke). They bond so quickly, and Rueben is heartbroken by their shared experience of murdered family members who have not received justice. This book wasn't as smutty as I would've liked, but there is just so much chemistry, so I couldn't really complain. There is a very heavy plotline in this story, in stark contrast to the previous book, and we see a lot of Keegan and Kerry and Sven in this story too, which almost makes this feel like the start of the second-half of the series - almost like it's own little section of the overarching plot and series. I loved meeting Kerry more in this story (Seth's cousin) since we only briefly met him at the end of Saints Like Him, and seeing him and Keegan interacting was amazing too! Rueben and Keegan have such a special friendship, and I am beyond excited and desperate for his story next.

Overall, this was such a special story, and these two have such a special connection. I love how forward and flirty Rueben is, and how Seth just blooms under the love Rueben showers him with. And I also loved how Seth matches Rueben blow for blow and gives him a home and love and a partner which he really wants. Please read this series, I cannot stress enough how much I love everyone in this found family and I will sit you down and force you to love them because they deserve all of the love.

Every time I think the Redemption Ridge series has reached its peak, Aimee Nicole Walker releases a new book to blow me away once again. Seth and Reuben's journey was a suspenseful, dramatic, and captivating read with a hefty helping of steamy romance to go alongside it. I've been eager to see if the Salvation Anew cult leaders would finally face consequences for their actions, and this book not only brought closure to that storyline but also opened and closed an entirely separate investigation with deep personal meaning to Seth and his family. I was left gasping in shock by some of the action sequences and surprise reveals, and the pacing of everything was so smartly done to reel me in and give me a false sense of security before reaching the chaotic climax of the story.

Reuben and Seth were easy characters for me to fall in love with, and by starting their book nine months after an explosive weekend together I got to revel in their sexual frustration and pining. I'm a sucker for a forbidden relationship, and while Seth and Reuben's wasn't forbidden for the reasons I'm used to, I felt the weight of the entire prosecution against Salvation Anew hinging on their ability to keep their personal and professional lives separate. As much as they tried to resist each other, Reuben and Seth were hopelessly addicted to each other, and once they had a taste of each other again their hearts absolutely overruled their heads. I was pleasantly surprised by just how many hours of bliss these two managed to squirrel away together, and it didn't take long at all for lust to turn to love. As the two lovebirds fell deeper and deeper for each other, Seth's police work started heating up in all the wrong ways. I knew the two of them weren't being careful enough to keep their relationship a secret, but I never expected things to unfold quite as seriously as they did. I already said it once, but the climax of this book was completely chaotic in a way that had me on the edge of my seat waiting desperately to see if everything would turn out okay. Reuben and Seth had a much bigger fight in front of them than I expected, and though they'd made some not-so-smart choices I have a ton of respect for the way they handled things in the aftermath. I'm so impressed by the way Aimee Nicole Walker crafted the ending of this book--wrapping up both police investigations, delivering a satisfying and sweetly romantic happy ending for Seth and Reuben, and laying the groundwork for the next love interests in the series. I can't wait to see where Redemption Ridge is headed next!!

This is the fifth book in the Redemption Ridge series and you should read them in order. It is necessary to understand the multitude of other characters and the overlying nuances of the story. This book focuses on Rueben Sanchez and Seth Burke. Rueben is reformed convict and valued member of the Redemption Ridge crew. Seth is an openly gay man and the town's mayor. The two bonded in the previous book when someone cut Rueben's brake lines and attempted to kill him. The two of them spent a passionate weekend together and then went their separate way. That was nine months ago. The two of them couldn't be together because is it would give Mick and Quinton Carson a chance to be set free on a technicality or cause the jury to reach a not guilty verdict because they couldn't trust the investigators. It was essential so that the home grown terrorists would receive the sentence they deserved. When the prosecutor tells them that the case may be drag out for another two or three years, all Rueben can think of is how much longer the two of them must be apart. Rueben is terrified of Seth moving on without him. While his brain knows that they must stay apart, his heart is having none of it. So begins a secret campaign of ensuring Seth doesn't forget him. This is their story. The book is very well written and easy to read. The suspense is increased with the investigation into the cold case of Seth's sister murder when he was a teenager. Though expecting no new results, everyone is shocked when the actual murderer is identified. A really unexpected twist. I loved how both Seth and Rueben believed in each other so strongly. While Seth knew that Rueben was extremely strong, he is constantly underestimated by others. I liked how they both supported the other unconditionally. This is a great book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from GRR and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

We’ve been waiting for these two to find their HEA and it was just a steamy, sweet, & funny as readers could expect. They had a meet cute that was a little more hazardous than most – with Seth keeping Rueben calm as he was stuck in a wrecked vehicle perilously hanging off the side of a mountain. It was a good indication of where their relationship would go – moments of levity to keep their mind off of more serious concerns.

I’m not sure I’m as confident that Seth would be willing to risk so much for Rueben. It’s not like it can’t ever happen, just not right now. But then again, they’ve been dancing around each other for a bit so it was just a matter of time.

My biggest wish was that we’d get more of the ranch folks. The relationship of these guys to each other is one of the best things of the series. I’m enjoying seeing each one of them fall in love and the suspense element that ties the series together but I love their friend group and I really want to see more of that. I’d have loved to see Rueben and Keegan interact a bit more because what we did get was exactly what we’ve come to expect from these guys.

I always look forward to a book in this series and the romance between Seth & Rueben is no exception. It has always been a hoot to see Rue flirt so shamelessly with Seth and I was ready to see that come to fruition. The having to hide part could put some off and while I think that it didn’t quite fit the situation & Seth’s steadfast personality, I understand that Walker was going for an attraction that can’t be ignored. So excited that there are two more books coming!

**It really is better to read the entire series because there are elements that flow from one book to another.**

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this story with the two men who wanted to be together but couldn't jeopardise the court case against the cult who caused the accident that brought them together. Their phone calls brought them closer and their relationship deeper. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story. This was an MM story with mature content.

This story is the steamiest so far. From the moment Rueben set eyes on Seth Burke, the town sheriff who once tried to date Cash, he had hearts in his eyes. I adored Rue’s tenacity and his unwillingness to let the sheriff get away. After the accident that brought them together, they shared one weekend together then parted ways, but neither was able to forget what they shared. At the start of The Keeper, the men are trying to keep a professional distance because Rue is a witness to one of Seth’s ongoing investigations. But not even the forbidden nature of their relationship that could jeopardize the Salvation Anew trial, can keep them apart. The attraction that burns between them was so strong that stolen kisses became nighttime rendezvous, and they began to see each other in secret. Then the plot thickens and multiple story lines develop until the fast paced ending and the sweet HEA.

I couldn’t get enough of this story and out of the entire series, this might be my favorite. It’s a toss up between The Keeper and Guys Like Him. I adored the romance between Seth and Rue and loved how the secrecy was necessary for both of them, and not one sided. Both men know and say what they want and the steamy scenes between them were both hot and sweet at the same time. I really enjoyed how Lance West portrayed Rueben throughout the entire series – his strength, determination, and insecurities. He also tackled an even bigger cast of new voices and returned to familiar characters wonderfully. The passion he voiced between these two men who know they shouldn’t be together but are powerless to stay apart will hit you right in the feels. This story couldn’t have been better and this series keeps getting stronger even 5 books in. I will be sad when it is all over.

Such a Good Series

This series has kept me hooked from the first book and this book brings to a close the underlying theme running through all the books of the insidious evil cult in the heart of the small town of Last Chance Creek, the ongoing prosecution and the disappearance of cult leaders.

Whilst all this has been going on each book has given us a new couple and a new romance, with plenty of steam. Redemption Ridge is owned by Cash, a self made millionaire who was once on the wrong side of the law and jailed. Cash has a huge heart and opened Redemption Ridge Ranch to rehabilitate young offenders after their release. I love that they are all one big family who all have each other’s backs.

This book returns to the chemistry sizzling between Seth, the town Sheriff, and Rueben from the ranch. After Rueben nearly died in the last book when someone from the cult cut his brake pipes, he spent a hot weekend with Seth hidden in his cabin in the woods. Because of the ongoing trial Seth and Rueben cannot be seen together. If they jeopardised the trial Ruben would be devastated for his best friend Keegan who was a victim of the cult and is still getting over his trauma, and Seth would likely be fired. But are they strong enough to fight the attraction?

I love Aimee’s writing and this has been a real page turner of a series. She has given us so many likeable and interesting characters with real depth that have added to the series and although this was to be be last book in the series, I am so pleased that she has decided she is not ready to let these guys go and we are to get two more books! Keegan really deserves his HEA.

The Keeper by Aimee Nicole Walker is book number 5 in the Redemption Ridge series. I highly recommend reading this series in order for background information and context.

Rueben has been at Redemption Ridge for years. He paid for his alleged crimes and is doing his part in making the world around him a better place. Rue has watched most of his friends fall in love on the ranch. He knows the only man for him is the Sheriff, Seth. One problem, there's a major case that could all fall apart if he and Seth get caught together before the trial. The case against Salvation Anew affects sonny people. They almost killed Rue and Keegan.

Seth prides himself on serving and protecting his community. Being an openly queer Sheriff is hard enough, adding a convicted felon to his life could ruin his career. He's not so sure he cares anymore. But he does care about taking down the cult, Salvation Anew, and holding them accountable for their crimes. Events unfold that can jeopardize everything. They face many obstacles but are able to overcome them together.

I love these men together. They have massive sexual chemistry but it's so much more than that. You can feel how much they genuinely care for one another. I love the relationships between all of the friends and how supportive they are of one another. The found family aspect of this series makes my heart melt and the world building is out of this world.

This book was incredible and fit into this world seamlessly. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and cannot wait for book 6 with Keegan and Kerry.

It had been nine months since Sheriff Seth and Rueben (a victim in an ongoing case) shared an unforgettable weekend fling and decided to separate until the trial ended. However, delays in the trial have driven them both to frustration, filled with longing, misunderstanding, and jealousy.

Seth and Rueben are so deeply in love that you can feel it, even before they admit it to themselves. Their intense passion and determination to be together drive the story, making their separation almost unbearable. Despite the risk posed by their relationship amidst the external chaos, they believe it's worth it.

The narrative is enriched with elements of suspense, including violence, death, and a twenty-five-year-old mystery that intertwines with the current case. Their connection deepens despite the distance and the story beautifully captures how they make it work and fall even harder for each other.

When the trial finally begins, courtroom drama unfolds with twists and turns, testing their resolve. Their reunion post-trial is a passionate explosion of suppressed desires, bringing a satisfying conclusion to their story. Alongside the romance and suspense, the book delivers angst and a couple of surprises, enhancing the emotional depth.

The Keeper is a captivating blend of romance, mystery, and drama, making it a must-read for those who enjoy emotionally charged narratives. It’s a great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next installment.
