Will Christmas bring a miracle to the Rayne household this year? A wronged woman. A Deceived Man. Two Broken Hearts. Can the spirit of Christmas bring love to a ranchers’ home this year?
This book did have a happy ending but the rest was heart breaking. Jane was attacked by a man she thought loved her, she said no and he continued anyway and acted like it would be better later. Her parents did not believe her and actually treated her like trash. This book was so sad at how she was treated. I gave it 5 stars because i could not lay it down, i wanted someone to see her and acknowledge and listen to her and quit judging. This book has a lot more than just a Christmas mail order bride.
This was a delightful short story about a young woman who was assaulted by her suitor and payed the ultimate price. Married off to a man out west who she thought her father was honest with, her relief turns into a nightmare. The couple eventually find their happily ever after. Even though I enjoyed the story very much I wish it were longer.
There are many times when I read about brides going west that I appreciate how strong the women were to accept fate about their new husbands. This book took my heart and twisted it deeply. A very good story
Absolutely terrifying to have things happen to you and no one there for support. Women didn't have much back then, tough to survive. Characters were intense and the story almost heartbreaking but worth it.
Father writing for husband illogical. He orginally suggested him and he is his partner. Both of them are bedridden with no help. Neighbor not punished?
