Fated mates don’t exist in my world—not until two alphas claim that I’m theirs.Abandoned at birth, I’ve grown up believing I was worthless until my sixteenth birthday when I discovered I was an Omega. Since Omegas are rare and hunted by alphas to increase their power, I’m given to the future alpha of the Solarius pack—a vicious wolf who treats me worse than his father ever did.
The night the fae attack, I’m seen by another, much stronger alpha—one who claims I’m his fated mate.
But that’s impossible and not something I want.
Elias takes me with him regardless, determined to win me over despite the walls I’ve spent years building around myself. When another alpha claims I’m fated to him, too, my Omega instincts rise to the surface for the first time, and with each day that passes, I want nothing more than to surrender myself to them.
To let them claim me.
My only refuge is in the shadows of a dungeon where the mysterious fae prisoner says I owe him a debt. I know all fae are evil and dangerous, but there’s something about Rueven I can’t resist.
Wolves and fae have always been at war with each other, and the moon and star gods are forever watching. But maybe if I help Rueven escape, then the war between our species might finally end.
These Vicious Wolves is a full-length Omegaverse romance with possessive alpha males, found family, strong female characters, and a main character who doesn’t have to choose. This is book one in the Chrysalis Pack series.
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
Not real sure how I feel about these. The fact that characters are changing from friends to enemies to friends is giving me whiplash because this book is way too short to make those transitions believable.
G. Bailey and Scarlett Snow have teamed up to write the Chrysalis Pack series. The first book, These Vicious Wolves, was amazing. I don't what I was expecting but I was delightfully surprised by it.
This is a high fantasy filled with magic, with seemingly fae and wolves being bitter enemies. The world-building is good, V's world is separate from the mortal realm. There's the mention of other packs, the magic of the crystals that the Wolves use as protection, and the different gods, mostly moon and star gods but I feel like there may be more. I love all kinds of mythology so I loved that. Now I've read plenty of omegaverses, Gem and Scarlett put a fantastic twist on it with the magical mating marks and how differently the interactions of alphas, omegas, and betas are. It seems more subtle so far.
Verena is an omega with unknown origins but she's found her family with her adoptive mother and sister. She loves them with her whole self, she would do anything for them. Ver is bold and brave, standing up to her cruel alpha. The fact that she has hope that the world could be a better place and that good people can do good things is amazing after the abuse she has suffered. She leads by example, showing kindness where others wouldn't but that doesn’t mean she trusts anyone, she's been through too much to give that easily.
Hence the problem that Ver faces. This is a why-choose and she has a few candidates that could (and probably are) a part of her harem. Elias is a powerful alpha wolf whose people love him. I like Elias a lot, he's playful and kind. From what I've seen of Elias, he's a good person who does the best he can for his people. I don't know much about Alpha Lazuri but he doesn't seem that bad. Sure he's a bit cocky but there is something to say about his flirtatious nature. I'm willing to give him a chance.
The alphas care for Ver, they want to protect her, and both seem to be good guys however, they have their prejudices which could cause a problem. Seems like the mouthy alpha fae, Rueven, could be a potential mate but things are beyond complicated. Personally, I'm totally confused by the fae and don't know if I like him yet. There are a ton of secrets and animosity between the four so we'll see how that plays out.
So I'm totally invested in this story, in these characters, and in this world. I'm hooked and I want more. I have so many questions, especially after that shocking cliffie, and I want answers. These Vicious Wolves is just the beginning of Verena's story and I'm ready for more.
Title: These Vicious Wolves Author: G. Bailey and Scarlett Snow Page Count: 312 Version: Paperback
Genre: Paranormal
Review: This book was disappointing. There wasn't much of a plot, the main character was kind of annoying, and there were so many factors that didn't make sense. I've read multiple shifter books, so I found the idea of multiple mates to be a little unrealistic. But what really topped the cake was that they were okay "sharing her" made it just painful.
PSA: I am not a seasoned reader or great at articulating my thoughts. This is just my opinion. Love what you love!
This book was not it for me. I wanted something of a shorter book to read through to help boost my reading goal and since this one only had 183 pages AND was about wolves I gave it a go. I like the idea of the Omegaverse, but it has to be done correctly. This book had very rudimentary writing that was very surface level with insta-love and over-the-top evil bad guys with no nuance or depth. This just kind of felt like a fever dream with one strangely contrived situation after another.
~*~*~*~Character Reviews~*~*~*~
The FMC: Verena Redrook- 2 Stars The FMC's actual name wasn't even referenced in the book until page 20, I waited and looked. This is one of the issues with first person perspectives as I really had little connection to the narrator until a good way into the story. She definitely seems like one of those characters who had a lot of awful things happen to them, to the point it is ridiculous and they are weak when it suits the author but strong when it suits the author. There is no growth or consistency one way or the other because it just goes back and forth depending on the need in the narrative.
The MMC 1: Alpha Elias, Vaega Pack - 2.5 Stars The book is so surface level in terms of character building that there isn't really anything deep about this man. He just shows up in the middle of a blood sacrifice, too little too late, sees Verena and is like - that's my mate! Then takes her off with his people to where he lives with his pack and has her live in his communal home with all his friends. There is really nothing more deep than that save a brief mention of his parents and how his father retired as Alpha. I am not a fan of insta-love so his connection to Verena was bothersome and for all his peacocking on keeping her safe he did a super bad job of it...multiple times.
The MMC 2: Alpha Lazuri, Arcturus Pack - 2 Stars There is really nothing to even know about this guy, other than he is from another big pack and he is known for being brutal and unpredictable. He has an attitude problem and rather rude but he is invited to a big party Elias is throwing only to proclaim that he is also Verena's mate and the two men talk about sharing. I am for a 'why choose' moment but it doesn't work if some of the only build up indicates the two men are stubborn and possessive.
The MMC 3: Prince Rueven - 3 Stars The Fae Prince who shows up at the blood sacrifice as well and catches Verena's eye is probably the most interesting character because he clearly has more going on we don't know about. He gives a 'Wish Version of Rhysand' vibes. I can't tell if the author is just trying to be mysterious and failing or just not a good writer. The story keeps going back and forth on whether he is a good guy or a bad guy then back again. Verena definitely gets her panties wet around him though so I am pretty sure he will end up being a good guy.
The Antagonist: This really wasn't clear as everyone was framed as a bad guy at some point in the book. The most clear bad guy was Alpha Alferis and his son Bane. Since they are the ones that, , which would put them as actually having done something nefarious. Both of them are so over-the-top bad guys it made me roll my eyes and cringe. It was just cliche evil stuff they were doing with unnecessary cruelty and over explanation.
The Supporting Cast: The supporting cast was probably the best part of the book, especially those who were part of Elias' pack. I thought Alma, Alix and Layla were very sweet and hope nothing really bad happens to them - though it is implied something may have happened to one of them at the end of the book. There wasn't much mentioned of Mera but she seemed like a shitty guardian to both Verena and Kris. Of course, there is also Kris whose story line was just unnecessary and bothersome. She deserved better.
~*~*~*~The Good and the Bad~*~*~*~
The Positives: There are not a lot of positives about this book. The premise was really good and that is what hooked me in. The idea of someone in Verena's position is super fun and interesting, it was just not executed well. I loved the supporting characters - especially Kris - but that did not turn out how I would have liked. The last would be the length of the book, if it is going to be bad, being short and bad is better than long and bad.
The Negatives: A lot of my complaints are already details above. There was a lot I didn't like with this book including the surface level characters, the pacing, the over the time cringy bad guys and the insta-love between Verena and all the potential MMCs. The parts that were done well were not utilized correctly and the book read more rudimentary and inexperienced in terms of writing quality.
~*~*~*~Questions to Consider~*~*~*~
Would I Buy the Book? No. I got this on Kindle Unlimited and really have no interest in buying it.
Would I Re-Read the Book? No. This book was so not my style, I considered DNF'ing it the first time around.
Will I Continue the Series? Maybe. I like to try and complete series and if book 2 is short enough I may try or just look up what happens online for spoilers.
"I want nothing more than to dance with his shadows."
This story lacks depth. There are some moments when everything appears like it could come together but in the end it falls flat. Still, I’ll read the next one.
Part of the Chrysalis Pack series with shifters that can be read in an hour or so once you start you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Verena is one of the strongest I want to give her a huge hug she has endured so much abuse, cruelty at the hands of the pack, hunger, she has been through so much more but surviving the worst night of her life the Fae that stopped her death and the alpha wolf who thinks they are fated mates but all she can think about when or what is going to happen next with all that she has been through at the hands of others. But what she gets is more than one claiming to be her mate and the feeling she feels for them has her all kinds of confused along with waiting for the abuse to start but they plan to show her that not all alphas are abusive. Elias is a powerful alpha wolf who is loved by his people, alpha Lazuri cocky, flirt but good nature who treats others well and fair to his people and then alpha fae, Rueven he is the wild the card a bit confusing but I think he is good all have issues but will they learn to work together to protect her, can they protect her, can they convince her they have her best interest will do what it takes to make her happy, and where are they headed we are waiting …,.,hate cliffhangers!
Verena grew up as a non-shifting shifter in a pack that hated her after taking her in when she was orphaned. Until they discovered that she was a rare Omega and promptly promised to the alpha’s son, Bane. She lives with Mera, her adoptive mother, and Kris, her adoptive sister, and regardless of how poor they are, she has a good life. Until the night when the alpha does something absolutely horrible and a power explodes out of her. Next thing anyone knew, the fae were attacking since she’d broken all the protective crystals. Another wolf pack came to rescue as many as they could, and their alpha claimed that Vera was his fated mate and took her with them.
Over time, she starts to develop feelings for Elias but when another alpha claims that she is ALSO his fated mate, things start getting more difficult! And then there is the royal fae that they took prisoner who she is trying to get information from. But is he friend or foe?
The ending is exciting and I truly have no idea what is going to happen next, but I am excited to read the next book in this series to find out!

Verena was a non-shifter and the wolf pack that she was in treated her really badly. They find out later that she's an Omega and she's given to the Alpha's son. Verena lives with her adoptive mother, Mera, and her sister, Kris. After the alpha does something Verena has a power explode out of her. Then all hell broke out with the fae attacking because she broke the protective crystals. Another wolf pack shows up to help and their alpha claims Vera as his fated mate. Elias is working hard to break down the walls that Vera has built but slowly she develops feelings for him. Then another alpha male states that she is also his fated mate. There is a royal fae in the dungeon that Vera wants to find out if he is a friend or enemy. The story was interesting and I love the connection between the characters. There is a cliffhanger so I'm interested to see what happens next.

This was ok, it didn’t grip me all the way through. There was times where I needed to know what happened next, and other times it was easy to put it down. The main character loses someone in a horrific way, and it changes something in her fundamentally. It opens the protections in her pack and the fae decimate them. She is saved by a fae and a new alpha. They are not friends, and the new alpha takes the far prisoner and claims she is his fated mate. Weeks go by and at a ball she meets another alpha from a neighbouring pack who also claims she’s his fated mate too. I’m not sure how the fae got out of his prison and flew her away. She’s not sure who to beleive when secrets are revealed, a past she had no idea she had. I do look forward to the next book. This one had promise.
With the Fae and wolves as enemies, you know that the mates Omega Verena is beginning to gather are possibly going to have issues with each other. She may be attracted to several of them, but is there a way to know who is “good” vs “evil”? Verena was raised thinking she was worthless. Now out in the world, she is finding that is not true. Alphas want her so their power can increase. Unfortunately, it doesn’t mean they will love or care for her if they are only out for themselves. Which will she choose? Or won’t they give her a choice to make? Grab your copy and find out who she can trust. And especially keep an eye on that Fae!
I really disliked the way they treat omegas. The guys reminded me of children fighting over a candy bar or something. She was shown such little respect by so many. I hope she will get her HEA in the end.
Wolfshifter meets Fae omegaverse read, with a downtrodden FMC, Verena. After surviving one of the worst nights of her life, a Fae stops her death, and a wolf alpha claims her as his fated mate. Which hasn't occurred in many years. Verena finds herself in a new pack. Dealing with the overwhelmed wait for the other shoe to drop and the alpha with his pack mistreat, but instead, she's whisked off to a ball only to find another fated mate. Her feelings and need for her mate confuse but not as much her want of the Fae Rueven. A confusing triangle of men and her in the centre of this chaos. Laced with intrigue and mystery, These Vicious Wolves is a slow burn romance that leaves you stunned with its cliffhanger and revelations.
Oh wow, the story just wrapped around me, and before I knew it, I was hooked. Verena is stuck in a pack, that has a cruel Alpha who basically starves his pack, and she gets mistreated to make it even worse. She seems a bit drawn to the Fae (Rueven) who was captured, when she was rescued. I love how her spirit is intact regardless of all the troubles she has lived through, she certainly has her hands full with two alphas claiming her (one of them been Elias who rescued her). Verena isn't afraid to give them lip or stand up to them either, I have to read the next book, I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Some people just don't want to believe they are wrong ignoring the signs around them. Verena felt like she had been rejected all her life but found out there was a specific reason for her existence. Things start changing when her sister gets killed because of what she is. It starts a chain of events that no one could predict. Her upbringing made her feel wrong about anyone being treated poorly but how much will it cost her when she learns the truth about herself. With what she had been put through I understand why she was hesitant to trust anything about mates she is right to be cautious but of the wrong people.

These Vicious Wolves is the first book in the Chrysalis Pack series. This recommendation is great for those interested in wolves, fae, strong F/M characters, romance, and spicey stories.
Growing up as a non-shifter for Verena was challenging, her pack didn't treat her as part of their pack, and she easily became a target/outsider. She is hands down a strong character, and once realizes her potential and power she her character grows. The war between the Fae and the Wolves was interesting. The author did a fantastic job describing the place where this all happens and the dialogue between characters flows easily. I am interested to see where the story continues on to.

This book was crazy! I’m sad that Kris was killed. So she is half fae, and can’t shift until she mates. What are her powers? It’s curious that two of the most powerful alphas are her mates. Rueven is a fae prince who spared her and then told her about her fae heritage. He helped to heal her after an assassin tried to kill her. Who hired him? Does it have to do with her parents? I’m guessing that Rueven is also her mate, is that how he saw her as a baby? Why did the fae attack that night and the wolf pack of her mage just happened to be close. That seems like a huge coincidence. Then you have Darcia who is another fae, she keeps talking about Rueven and how he is a monster, but can she be trusted? Did Mera really know her parents and that she was also fae?

I really like this new take on the RH/Why choose and omegaverse genre. It was a great start to this new series. For those who love a fast paced RH omegaverse, this is not the book for you. This is a slow burnnnn. There is some tension and heat, but nothing too much. I can tell it will get hot which I love but it will take time. And the group has not formed yet. My only critiques is that I wish there was some dual pov to get inside what's happening with the guys. I also wish there was some more scenes with her and the guys. And the book being a little longer. Overall great start.

Just wow. This book does not disappoint in its mission to snake it's venom into every pore of your being until you cannot distinguish who is friend or foe. Verena is an omega no shift wolf who has been looked down upon and hated all of her life until she changes the course of her own destiny with power unleashed. She has not one but two large wolf alpha's who admit she is their fated mate and yet she can't help the massive wall around her fragile heart. This was a truly magical story that will prickle your eyes, unleash your annoyance and drive you crazy wondering what is next.

Living with the Solarius pack Verena endures cruelty, hunger, and sacrifice in a way that no one should have to endure. The strength of Verena in the face of underlying threats, constant danger, electrifying suspense, and intense situations ensue your enjoyment. Add in two fated mates an interesting back story and you have a tale that you can’t put down. The cliffhanger ensures your interest in the next installment.

This was extremely well written. I’m one of those people they can always guess what is going to happen next in a story, that did not happen here. I am a huge fan of Fantasy romance, and this gives you a little bit of everything. There is a lot of adventure. The book is a little on the short side for me, but there is a lot of information. The character building and the plot are well thought out. I am really looking forward to book too. Well done ladies, well done. You’ve managed to get me to love a story and want to throw my Kindle at the same time.
This was such an exciting fantasy romance and there is a ton going on in here. Verena was so much more than she realized and she finds herself in the middle of a brewing war between shifters and the fae. Of course, you know her mates are going to be strong alphas but until that gets sorted, we have a slow burn romance building between her, Elias and Lazuri, with Rueven swirling around her, too ;) The ending is wicked and I'm quite anxious for the next installment to come so I can see how her story unfolds. Good fun!
Great story with great world building. Verena is an Omega that all the alphas want. But not for love or companionship. No, they want her for the power she will bring to them. They fight over her like children over their toys. They have no respect for her and give her little choice. Verena is attracted to some but feels no love from them. Their prejudices seem to get in the way. Good characters, both wolves and fae. Definite cliffhanger ending. Look forward to book 2.

One hell of a kick off to this series. Being brought up in a cruel and vicious pack that have tried to keep her downtrodden her whole life Verena (FMC) finds herself in the middle of a bloody war between her pack and the Fae. Which in turn frees her but adds more complications which are 2 Alphas and a Fae. These three certainly twisted up the plot in this book. Finishing up in a brilliant cliff-hanger ending that I'm dying to see how it will paly out in the next book. A knockout read.
These Vicious Wolves is a fast paced, paranormal page turner! The story starts out with lots of questions for Verena and her search for answers regarding her biological family and her paranormal aspects. She's meeting many others, including her two mates, beautiful lands she didn't know existed while getting to know and trust herself. Lots of deception in this tale to keep the reader guessing.

Werewolves are not normally an element in a book I will read but I have been trying to get out of my comfort zone with eBooks and reviews. And I am SO glad I did for this book! Such great characters (I love a strong, female main character), romance with spice, and an interesting story to keep me reading. I look forward to future books in this series!

I read this book during the summer and I loved it, I know it is not by a single author but I did read it before and I really like how he writes. The story is great with all the romance and fantasy and what I loved most was the evolution that the protagonist gave during the book and what will surely be much more. If you have never read this genre, this book may be an option since it is not that long and the way it is written is super understandable, highly recommended.
Rating both books in this one review; Overall i enjoyed the 2 books. The characters the plot was fine. I love me a good quick read! I think i enjoy quick reads over huge books. But the books were ...rushed needless to say :( The characters didn't have enough development!!! One thing happening after the other, Not enough time with the mates before the next thing happened. Didn't really get to see their dynamic before it just flatly ends. Could say more but can never put to words fully on how i feel.
This is the first book in the Chrysalis Pack series, shifter, fae omegaverse RH romance. It is fast paced with a lot that happens with intrigue and mystery. Verena has been through all lot and has to figure out what to trust. This is an interesting read that left me hanging. I am very interested in reading the next book.
It took me several chapters to really get into the story but by the time I got to the end I was mad that it was over. I really hate waiting for the next book to come out because of a cliffhanger! lol. I am very curious as to how the dynamic of the three fated mates is going to work. Because it’s obvious to me that the two alphas and the fae are meant to be hers.
