There’s a fine line between lust and love…
Feeding on the pleasure of other creatures might sound like the perfect life, but Priest knows the truth. The bottomless hunger and the never-ending need for more will eventually drive him to the brink of madness.

It’s the fate of all Incubi.

But until then, he’s determined to spend as much time as possible checking on the human bookstore owner who turns Priest into a tongue-tied mess. Oliver doesn’t seem to mind, treating him with a kindness he’s never experienced from anyone outside his Trident Agency family.

Fumbling flirtations is all it can ever be though. The risk of draining Oliver is too great, and Priest refuses to put him at risk.

But then the bookstore goes up in flames, and Priest learns he’ll do just about anything to keep Oliver safe.

Protecting the reckless human he has been obsessed with for months may be the only truly good thing he does with his life. But the longer they’re together, the more difficult it is to resist his demon’s cravings, and the more secrets they uncover. About Oliver… and supernaturals like Priest and his friends.

As the Alpha Team investigates and attacks keep coming—forming a terrifyingly familiar picture—Priest and Oliver have to learn to trust each other… and themselves.

Priest is the second book in the swoon-worthy Trident Agency series by co-writing duo, E.M. Lindsey and Kiki Clark. It features an endearingly awkward Incubus, a bookworm ready for his gorgeous stalker to make a move, a trash panda of a fallen angel who doesn’t really do *friendship*, one wonderfully dexterous forked tongue, truckloads of possessiveness, and touch him and get unalived vibes for days.

⭐️ 3.5/5 — Sweet and sexy, but too much mystery and action for my romance-loving heart 😬
🌶 3/5 — When your incubus demon lover’s rocking fangs, thorns, a forked tongue, and a huge dick… yeah, things get pretty hot. 😈🔥

💭 My Rambling 💭

I loved the relationship between Priest and Oliver — it’s soft, intimate, and possessive in that perfect “he’s mine” kind of way I live for. Priest being all tactile and jealous? Yeah, gimme more of that, please. 🤌🏻💋✨️

But the mystery and action subplot? Ehh… a bit too much for me. 🙈 I wanted more romance and cozy demon-snuggling time, less world-saving chaos. Still, it’s a pretty solid read with heart and heat. 💖

😈😇 The MCs 😈😇

🖤 Priest — An incubus demon and outcast in the supernatural world, Priest lives with a hunger that never ends—feeding but never feeling full, surviving on control and exhaustion. As the Trident Agency’s second-in-command, he’s earned power and respect through sheer grit. Beneath the steel, though, is a man aching to be seen beyond the monster he’s forced to be. He’s been pining for Oliver for nearly a year, and no matter how hard he tries to stay composed, he still gets tongue-tied every time he’s near him. 😈💤

🤍 Oliver — Soft-spoken yet quietly strong, Oliver is all warmth and light in a world that bites. With his glasses, sweater vests, and a bookshop that smells like safety, he’s the kind of human who loves without trying and sees good in everything. Raised in a cult-like family that despised Supes, he escaped and built a quiet life of his own. Gentle, grounded, and unknowingly magnetic, he’s peace in human form—and the one thing Priest can’t stay away from. But Oliver is far more than he seems. 👓📚

🛡 Bodyguard Energy, But Make It Emotional 🥹💞

Quote: (Priest)
“I have to protect you. I have to do everything in my power to keep you safe because I don’t think I could live in this world without you now that I know how perfect we are together.”

💭 And just like that, my hopeless romantic heart did a full somersault. Who gave him the right to sound this soft and protective? 😭💞🤌🏻
You can’t just say things like that and expect me to breathe normally. My heart’s filing for early retirement. 😮‍💨💘✨

🥵❤️‍🔥 Dominant at Night, Devoted by Day 🌞💖

Quote:
Priest pulled out and then thrust back in, holding Oliver’s eyes. “You’re not going to run off like that again, are you?”
Oliver shook his head, but he didn’t say anything.
“No. Because if you do, next time, you won’t get the pleasure of my cock inside you.”
Oliver sucked in a quick breath.
“No, if I have to chase you down again, I will throw you over my shoulder.” He thrust hard. “Carry you back home.” Another. “And tie you to this fucking bed.” One more, even harder, driving Oliver an inch up the bed. “Do you understand me?”
“Yes, Priest. I understand,” Oliver moaned, still holding Priest’s eyes, even though his were heavy-lidded. His long, slender cock lay untouched between them, but it was practically purple, the tip drooling precum obscenely.
“Good. That’s good,” Priest said through gritted teeth, picking up his pace, beginning to chase his own pleasure as well. Oliver looked like one wrong move and he was flying over the edge, and Priest wanted to be there with him. “You are precious to me, Oliver. I will not be held responsible for what I do if you were to get hurt or be taken from me.”
Some of the lust cleared from Oliver’s eyes as he blinked a few times. “I’m right here. I’m safe.”

💭 Priest in the bedroom? That man’s all command and control — filthy, sharp, dominant as fuck, like he’s built to ruin Oliver in the best way possible. But the moment they step out? He’s that protective, adorably cuddly, jealous-as-hell sweetheart who side-eyes every man that so much as breathes in Oliver’s direction 😂.

It’s that duality, baby — the beast and the gentleman in one body. He’ll snarl “mine” one second, then bring Oliver breakfast in bed the next 🍞🍊☕🔥. And that mix? That’s what makes him so fucking irresistible. 😍❤️‍🔥

📝 TLDR 📝

Pick this one up if you’re into:
😈 Incubus demon with a forked tongue, fangs, and dangerous charm
❤️‍🔥 Jealous, possessive, tactile MC who turns into a softie outside the bedroom
👓 Sweet, gentle MC who makes even a demon melt
🕵🏻‍♂️ A dose of mystery and action mixed with your romance
💞 Found family, loyalty, and that “you’re my whole damn world” kind of love

Quotes: ⚠️ Spoilers ⛔️

“Could he kill me?” Oliver had asked a few weeks after meeting the Demon.
Azriel rolled his eyes and muttered several words in a language Oliver didn’t understand before flashing teeth in a grimace trying to be a smile. “Yes, he could kill you. But he wouldn’t. That’s not his nature.”
“That’s not an Incubus’s nature?” Oliver asked, his entire body humming with skepticism.
Azriel laughed. “Oh, darling. No. An Incubus would definitely consume you until you were dead. But Priest wouldn’t. It’s not in his nature. He’s a bodyguard. A protector. His entire life is keeping little lost lambs like you safe.”
-
Just before he slipped away, he swore he heard Priest say, “We can do whatever you want. I’d do anything for you.”
-
“Step one, grab stick. Step two, remove from ass,” Priest told him. “He’s here. He’s just with Azriel right now.”
-
“Sweetheart—”
“No,” Oliver said. His voice was still strong. He opened his eyes, and they were bright Angel blue. “I’m okay. I’m here.”
Priest collapsed against him, rolling them to the side and wrapping around him like he was afraid to let go. “Promise me you won’t leave me.”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
Priest buried his face in the back of Oliver’s neck. “Can we stay like this for a little while?”
He heard Oliver’s smile in his happy hum, and he grinned when Oliver nuzzled back against him. “For as long as you want.”
-
When he started to push inside, Oliver’s body couldn’t handle it. He was so oversensitive from his orgasm he immediately whimpered and shook his head.
Priest shushed him, stroking his thighs and not moving. “Just this much,” he groaned, only the head of his cock breaching Oliver.
He nodded wobbly. “Yeah, just that much.”
Priest wrapped a hand around his shaft and jerked himself, staring at where he disappeared inside Oliver’s body.

When liquid heat splashed against his insides, Oliver moaned, finally letting his legs relax. He mewled pathetically when Priest gripped the back of his thighs and kept them in place, dipping down and using his slender tongue to gently push his come back inside Oliver’s aching body. If he had even an ounce of strength left, he was sure he would get hard again just from the feeling.

Once he was satisfied, Priest crawled up to him, plastering himself to Oliver’s front, pressing the softest of kisses right over Oliver’s thudding heart, and then resting his head on his chest. Oliver caressed his shoulders and neck, scratching at his scalp and just lounging, enjoying the feeling of his fucked-out body and the amazing Demon who had brought him so much pleasure.

He thought maybe Priest had fallen back asleep and was considering taking a short snooze himself before repacking the overflowing duffel bag when Priest said quietly, “I have to protect you. I have to do everything in my power to keep you safe because I don’t think I could live in this world without you now that I know how perfect we are together.”

Tears burned at the back of his eyes. Oliver stroked his hair, murmuring soft, encouraging words, letting him know he understood.
-
Oliver’s gaze was fixed on him, eyes half-lidded, pupils dilated. He looked like he was in a trance, but then he reached for the hem of his shirt and smiled. “Say please.”
Priest’s throat went dry. “Please.”
Oliver removed the shirt, letting it fall to his feet. He took several more steps. His knees hit the bed. His lithe, perfect, clever fingers touched the button on his jeans. “And this?”
Priest pushed up on his elbows and bared his fangs. “More. All of it. Show me what’s mine.”
-
Priest pulled away and took Oliver’s chin carefully in his claws. “I love you.”
Oliver shuddered, his eyes closing. “Tell me again.”
Priest sank his fangs into Oliver’s neck, not enough to break the skin, but nearly. He felt those threads in his chest reaching for Oliver’s, twisting together—bright and overwhelming. It was impossible to deny it now. This was his mate. His forever. The soul the universe had chosen to be his and only his.
All he had to do was sink into him and taste him, and they would be bonded forever.
“I love you,” he said again. He forced his shift as far back to human as his hunger would allow, and he caught Oliver’s gaze. He knew his eyes were still black. His vision was distorted by his Demon, picking up on the heat radiating off Oliver’s skin like an aura sunset. He took a breath. “You are mine.”
“Yes.”
Priest shook his head. “I need you to understand. You… you are mine. My—”
“Your mate,” Oliver said. “I know.”
How?
Oliver laughed, and Priest realized he had read the question from his mind. “I don’t know how. I just do. I feel it. I need you, Claude.”
He had never, ever thought he would enjoy hearing his given name on the lips of anyone until that moment. His eyes went hot, acidic tears threatening to spill down his cheeks.
“I’m not just yours, okay? You’re mine too. I want this. I want the bond. I feel like I’m going to die without it.”
-
“Together,” Oliver said softly.
Priest clasped the back of his neck and pulled him close, pressing a sweet kiss to his lips. “Together.”
Always.

He felt a strange, possessive sensation unfurling in his chest, and for a moment, he wanted to burn the world down just so no one could ever get close to Priest again.

ARC review

Yum, I’m really enjoying this series. I had forgotten a lot of the external plot from book 1 and since it’s overarching I didn’t quite follow a couple times, but it was okay anyway and totally on me. I’ve been really excited about this book ever since the last book came out and I loved it this one just as much. Priest and Oliver were so sweet and dorky together. You wouldn’t think an incubus demon would be awkward, but he lost all chill around Oliver, which is just adorable. I also actually really enjoyed the pining, and wouldn’t have minded even more of it.

It was also good to get to know a few of the side characters better, and I can only hope Knight’s book will be out in the not too distant future. I already love the sad, lonely vampire.

Overall just a really solid paranormal book set in a different world with a touch of action, mortal peril, steamy stuff and a couple emotional moments.

Priest was helplessly and hopelessly charmed by him, and he didn’t understand why or how.

Gods, why was he so head over heels for this disaster Demon?

He started to pull back, but Oliver caught his arm again. “I don’t think so, you obnoxious little martyr. You don’t get to suck my brain out through my dick and then leave.”

“What are you? Because after that… there’s no way you’re fully human.”

This was the second book in the series and even though I had high hopes for it it didn’t quite deliver for me. The story follows Priest, an incubus who struggles to control his hunger for energy, and Oliver, a sweet human bookstore owner who suddenly finds himself caught up in the supernatural world.

Priest is quiet and careful, always afraid of hurting others, while Oliver is kind, curious, and braver than he realizes. Their romance has a few touching scenes, and the found-family team from the Trident Agency still brings warmth and humor.

But nearly dying and having your life’s work destroyed had a way of convincing a person to just say fuck it. Sleep with the sex Demon. Ask the hard questions. Eat all the donuts.

However, the story moves slowly, and some parts of the plot feel unfinished. I didn’t much like in which direction the overall plot of the series went, like the suspense part. I would’ve preferred to it to continue to follow along that political clash between humans and supernaturals but I actually think it doesn’t. I can’t quite tell because it’s actually quite messy and we get to little in this one. I’m confused.

Overall, Priest is an okay follow-up with nice moments and interesting characters, but it didn’t quite hit like the first one.

DNF @ 54%

You might think, hey, you made it through 54% of this book, so just woman up and finish it. Well, even I'm not that much of a glutton for punishment. It is with great sadness that I've come to the conclusion that Kiki Clark completely nerfed E.M. Lindsey's writing ability. Instead of becoming something greater together, Kiki Clark and E.M. Lindsey, by their powers combined, have become almost nothing, like cotton candy dissolving the moment it gets wet.

I'm not sure if it's the tropes I'm mad at, the authors, or both. There's a sub-genre of M/M fiction, let's call it the "bodyguard" sub-genre, that involve a few key elements: a bodyguard agency with a name that sounds like a U.S. government military operation/Marvel villain group, buff men with code names (that sound like a U.S. government military operative nicknames/low-budget Marvel villains), each buff dude is a different flavor of supernatural or shape shifter, they all can only be fixed by waifish human twinks, the plot is just an excuse to bang, and the writing is usually subpar. Yeah, I understand the general tropes there cover about half of M/M romances, but there's something of a flavor to these bodyguard novels that is exactly the same every time. I'm not sure if these specific tropes just don't lend themselves to good writing, or if the venn diagram of the authors attracted to these bodyguard novels and the authors I think are bad is a circle. I don't know.

But what I AM saying is that this book sucked and I'm sad about it. Usually E.M. Lindsey, if not a slam dunk for me, has something interesting going on, and this book was anything but. I didn't read the first book in this series, which with these kinds of series is usually 100% necessary because they jump into the second one and don't explain who any of the 50 characters are (and they're all named Knight, Viper, Saint, King, Hunter, Priest, Bear, Wolf, Joker, etc.). Even after I got situated, however, god was I bored. Priest and Oliver had NO CHEMISTRY. I was reading about how much they wanted each other and I wasn't buying it in real time. I don't know how to explain how I feel about the writing - words happening one after another and another human being able to understand the resulting sentences is not enough to call the end product a novel.

Maybe my brain is rotting. Maybe I need to accept my lot in life and be happy with yet another waifish twink and overprotective angsty shapeshifter. Maybe I should take my insta-love, plotless slop like a good girl, sit down, and shut up. But my god. I am only so strong. The sexy parts weren't even hot. Jesus h. christ. Someone needs an intervention around here. Is it me? Is it ME???

“I have to protect you. I have to do everything in my power to keep you safe because I don’t think I could live in this world without you now that I know how perfect we are together.”

(ENG) I finally got around to reading this series, and I'm glad I did. I started with the second book, even though I would have preferred to read the previous one first. I'm pleased to say that I understood it well, although I think I may have missed some background information.
The story of Priest and Oliver is full of twists and turns, and the mystery at the heart of it keeps us hooked and leaves you wanting more by the end.
Both characters are great. Oliver is just the sweetest, but he's also the one who's not afraid to stand up to Priest and demand what he needs. They have such a strong connection, and it's so lovely to see how well the story develops between them.
I was really drawn into the side characters. I'm looking forward to reading Knight's story in the next book. In the meantime, I'll read Sunshine!

I enjoy both of these authors separately, but this series? First the good - the over arching plot is interesting and being uncovered at a decent pace. It is what keeps me going. The characters are decent even though the dialogue is just not .... fluid? It comes across as choppy and disconnected at times.
My biggest issue is with the world building. This place is so confusing at times and the entire social structure seems simple in some ways, yet a total mystery in others. I think the authors are planning to build as they go ,but in this case I really think we needed a better grip on the structure of this world at the start. If nothing else, a bit more about Oliver's birth family and why they tossed him - too many information gaps. Same with Priest as in not much background information and what is given is sketchy and seems conflicting.

Priest by E.M. Lindsey and Kiki Clark is book 2 in the Trident Agency series. I loved book 1 and was looking forward to the next book. This surpassed all of my expectations. Once I started, I could not put it down. Priest has been drawn to Oliver, human and bookstore owner, for over a year. He is an incubus and has found it difficult to feed since meeting Oliver. But everyone knows that an incubus cannot have a mate, right? The mystery that started in book 1 ramped up here and I am left wondering why people are disappearing and what is happening. When Oliver is injured and his best friend Poe disappears, Priest becomes incapable of denying that there is something between them. I loved the push/pull between these two and once Priest gave in, it was delicious. I cannot get enough of them. There was more to Oliver than met the eye. We also get glimpses into the other members of the team. I am dying for Knight’s story and am curious as to what is happening between Azriel and Poe (and maybe Knight?). I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I received an ARC from the authors for my honest review

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

Priest is the second book in E.M. Lindsey and Kiki Clark’s engaging Trident Agency series. While it features a new couple in Priest and Oliver, the story follows closely on the heels of the first book, Sunshine, and the series plot does carry over and expand, so these are best read in order. The story divides up between focus on the relationship and on the larger world building and suspense plot. On the romantic end, Oliver and Priest are an appealing couple. Priest has that sort of alpha vibe; he is a strong demon and a bodyguard, and he is very protective over Oliver. Readers who enjoy that sort of growly, don’t hurt my man energy are going to find a lot to like here.

not hungry any more

When the people around you who are not quite human feel more like home than anywhere else. This was a story about loneliness and amongst the people. And finding the one who doesn’t make you feel lonely. I would say this is a stand-alone story, I was able to read it without having to read the first book. That being said there was some context from the greater plot that I didn’t understand because I haven’t read the first book.

I loved the world build and meeting all the different paranormal folks. These two were cute together. I loved that while this was a paranormal MC he was still a nervous wreck around his person. Yet he also was doing mess with my person. The writing was great, the smexy was yum, and looking forward to the next book.

📝 Review & thoughts:
Priest and Oliver are absolutely adorable together. Their romance is really sweet.

There were some minor plot points that didn’t make completely sense to me at times (i.e. they shouldn’t do a bloodbath but then end up unaliving everyone, small things like that). But overall the plot is interesting and entertaining.

I had fun reading this book. Read for a sweet romance, some action, paranormal setting with some steam (you gotta read in order if you want to have more info on the plot as it’s overarching and continues from book one).

I have a lot of things to do but let just keep binge-reading an author. Here's Kiki Clark's (and EM Lindsey's) Trident Agency series. The second book is "Priest."

["There’s a fine line between lust and love…

As the Alpha Team investigates and attacks keep coming—forming a terrifyingly familiar picture—Priest and Oliver have to learn to trust each other… and themselves."]

Oh Priest, our poor, broken, in desperate need of a cuddle, Priest. Good thing that Oliver is stubborn as fuck and not willing to put up with any of Priests overprotective (albeit understandable) holdups.

These two didn’t have it easy (and I have a feeling that as each book in the series progresses, each new couple will have it less easy). But they had faith (Oliver) and found family (Priest) and each other.

This is another series that I want all of Right Now, but we’ll have to wait for. I love the couple HEAd, but I’m not a fan of the series HFN (mostly because I’m impatient).

Trigger Warnings: threats, violence, murder, fictional-slurs, discrimination, hate/hate-speech, and more.

Interesting Overall Story

I’m really enjoying the intricate storyline and plot that is being explored through this series. In the first book it was of course interesting but it felt like the romance took over so I wasn’t as invested in the plot. In this book I found myself enjoying the couple but not as invested in their romance, which left lots of room to immerse myself in this increasingly intricate storyline.

There were a few times I was a bit confused by things and had to read them over to follow the train of thought but I enjoy that this series is trying to be more serious with its overall plot.

Priest and Oliver were sweet together but I sometimes found their interactions and dialogue to be a little stunted. They could be so sweet together and I especially enjoyed when they were first exploring their relationship, but I sometimes wanted more from them. Oliver was sometimes a bit of a conundrum of a character, often described as a nerdy, innocent and sweet human, but then he would have many moments of anger and outspokenness. I enjoyed both sides to him but rather than it feeling like he was a complex character coming to terms with his new reality, it often felt confusing and out of the blue.

Priest was also confusing in the book. He was described by Oliver as being awkward and fumbling. But it didn’t often come through in scenes and other than a few random details thrown out in the middle of a scene, he didn’t come across that way at all.

What took over my interest in the book was the introduction of side characters who are clearly going to be important in the other books going forward, and a very sad but sweet vampire. I can’t wait for Knight to get his own book next! And I’m curious what Azriel and Poe will have in store in the future.

All in all the book was entertaining but romance to me felt secondary to the rest of the book.

This is the second book in the Trident Agency series and introduces Oliver and Priest's story. Oliver is a shy and nerdy human who owns a bookstore near a club frequented by Priest, one of the Trident Agency's founders and an incubus. Both MCs are smitten with each other and very obvious about it, but they have been dancing around one another for various reasons. Oliver isn't the assertive type and Priest, as an incubus, worries he might hurt Oliver if he gets too close.

I found the authors' take on incubi to be really interesting, especially in respect to Priest's potential to go made if he doesn't feed. But he doesn't want to feed because his hunger is directed at Oliver and he knows he could lose control and possibly drain Oliver dry. Priest was very much the martyr and a bit masochistic since he just couldn't stay away from Oliver. For his part, after a near-death experience, Oliver finds his backbone and becomes more assertive in his pursuit of Priest. He is determined to prove to the incubus that he isn't as dangerous as he thinks. There is more than meets the eye to Oliver, of course, and the two figure it out in the end while also searching for Oliver's missing friend and searching for the person(s) responsible for the attack on Oliver's bookshop.

I found the romance between Oliver and Priest to be very sweet. They were adorable together. The plot also had quite a bit of action and mystery that kept things moving in addition to the romance. I thought this book focused more on the overarching series plot than the couple's romance, but I also didn't think the romance was lacking at all.

The side characters are all amazing. I though Azriel stole the show in every scene he was in and I look forward to learning more about him. I'm also really intrigued by the lonely and hurting vampire, Knight. I'm excited that his story is next because I just need to know what happened to him.

Lindsey and Clark are among my favorite authors individually, and together they make a dynamic duo. I love reading anything they come up with and look forward to more!

I went into this book expecting some good ole’ supernatural adventures and a bit of spice. What did I get? I’ll tell you. I got a book that sucked me in with an AMAZING story and held me captive (and we love being held captive🔗) with characters I NEEDED to keep reading about! And OOF did daddy Priest bring the sizzling spice!!

What's it all about
Priest lives the lonely existence of an incubus, always feeding on pleasure from others but never finding his happily ever after…until he stumbles onto a tiny human bookstore owner who stokes the flames of an obsession Priest didn’t know he was capable of. How in the world can an incubus be so tongue-tied and awkward?!? Oliver is enchanted by Priest and his fumbling flirtations. Something about the man (besides his otherworldly beauty) draws Oliver in like no one else has. When Oliver’s bookstore goes up in flames and he learns secrets about himself he never could’ve imagined, Priest decides he’ll do whatever it takes to protect his little human. But can their story really have a happy ending? Everyone knows incubi don’t have fated mates…right?

My thoughts
I ate this book up, went back for seconds, and left no crumbs! Let me tell you, Priest and Oliver consumed my thoughts and kept me up at night! I just wanted to keep reading and finish their story. I needed to know their ending. And Priest’s protective possessiveness kept me enthralled! Oliver had his own dash of possessiveness towards Priest as well! And don’t even get me started on their chemistry (emotionally and..ahem…PHYSICALLY!). These two were sweet in the streets and hot as sin between the sheets!! Overall, I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting a good paranormal adventure and some smoking hot chemistry!

✨Please enjoy the AI renditions of what I picture Priest and Oliver to look like!✨

In this, you’ll find:
🖤Incubus x bookworm
💙Possessive/jealous MC
🖤Protective MC
💙Hurt x comfort
🖤Fated mates
💙Touch him and dïe
🖤Found family

I've been eagerly waiting for this story ever since Sunshine came out. I needed to know more about this unique paranormal world full of mysteries and mayhem, and in this story I got so much more than I expected.

Priest has been pining for Oliver for a long time, but he feels as though he has no chance with the adorable human who owns his own bookstore. After all, who would want to be with a Demon? Oliver has been pining for Priest for as long as Priest has but he's never sure where he stands with the incubus. After a horrific tragedy strikes Oliver's shop, these two are forced to admit their feelings and discover that there is more than meets the eye.

This addition to the Trident Agency is full of action, mysteries, awful people, and amazing side characters. As soon as I started this book I was immediately immersed back into this fantastic world. Everything was spectacular; From the characters themselves, to the pacing of the story, the overarching plotline, the action scenes, along with all the surprises and the twists and turns that occured throughout the story!

I thought that Oliver and Priest were so adorable together, both got awkward and was fumbling in the beginning which was so sweet. Overtime as they opened up about their feelings, they got more comfortable with each other and we're able to discover more about each other. These two are such a great couple, I love how Oliver wasn't as he seemed in the beginning. I also liked how Priest started rethinking everything he's been told about his kind, and others who are deemed as 'monsters'.

I was so sad when I reached the end of the book but I'm so excited to keep reading when the next one releases! I want to know what's going to happen with the other labs, and what's going to happen to Poe, Azriel, Knight and what the Trident Agency is going to do next. This was a terrific story that I very much enjoyed!! It is NOT a standalone so you have to read the first book in order to read this one.

"You are precious to me, Oliver. I will not be held responsible for what I do if you were to get hurt or be taken from me."

Priest sweetie. I just want to wrap that incubus up in a hug and never let go. He is so adorably awkward, and it warmed my heart how much Oliver loved that about him. It was obvious the two of them only had eyes for each other, but neither of them was making a move. I mean, at this point they'd been dancing around each other for almost a year! Someone needed to do something!

That someone was Oliver and thank the goddess because like his friends, I could not take any more of Priest's pining. He was convinced that a relationship between him and Oliver was doomed because of his incubus nature so Priest was doing everything he could to make sure that it didn't happen. However, you cannot fight against Fate, and time and time again Priest would find himself near or at Oliver's shop. That is, until there wasn't a shop to visit anymore, and everything changed in a blink.

"I have to protect you. I have to do everything in my power to keep you safe because I don't think I could live in this world without you now that I know how perfect we are together."

Once Priest got over his hangup things were full speed ahead with him and Oliver. I liked how Priest could be so sweet, but then so dirty when his Incubus was shining through. It was like Oliver got the best of both worlds in one demon!

The authors had a few surprises up their sleeves as well in regard to the plot and characters. It made the story even more interesting for me. I hope, especially for Knight's sake, that these nightmare trash people get what's coming to them! And yes, 2025 cannot come soon enough because I need to read Knights book now!

I have been waiting for Priest for so long, and these two kept teasing me with all their cute graphics and teaser posts! Don't worry, it does not disappoint and I really enjoyed reading about these two and the rest of Trident Security and gang!

I absolutely loved how adorably awkward Priest was, especially around Oliver. These two were just perfection and how they somehow kept getting dancing around each other but never fully giving in and going for it?! UGH. The TENSION?

With Priest being an incubus, you know there's going to be some massive spice but holy I wasn't expecting the PAIN, especially when Oliver's bookstore is attacked and his best friend goes missing.

𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀, 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀. "𝘗𝘰𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥." 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿. 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺. "𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘶𝘱."

I was so worried how these two were going to work with Oliver being a human and Priest, although he's been denying his demon for a long time, is an incubus. I don't know why I worried though, of course these two had that solved! It starts off a bit slow in terms of Spicey McSpice Spice, but doooon't you worry. These two inevitably give in and once they do? Ooof.

I cannot WAIT for Knight's book *criesin2025* because oh my gosh that man needs his revenge as his happily ever after, especially with what happened in this book!

I loved this story with the two men who were not what they appeared, and the way one of them tortured himself needlessly. Oliver was such a loveable character which indicated to who he was and Priest was tortured but also very protective of Oliver. All the characters felt real and I was swept away by the plot and drama. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

I knew Priest's story was going to be a steamy one, but I was blown away by the action-packed and emotional moments of his and Oliver's romance. Kiki Clark and E. M. Lindsey barely let me settle into the story before a devastating attack turned Priest and Oliver's world upside down. From there the two of them came together to heal and bond, and I really enjoyed how sweet their connection was in the mindset of all the uncertainty about who was orchestrating the attacks on supernaturals. A big focus in the beginning was on Priest dismantling his negative beliefs about his fate as an Incubus and learning to trust that he could feed without consuming Oliver completely. Oliver was such a sweetheart but also fierce when he believed strongly in something, and that made him a perfect match for Priest. Plotline was, the rescue mission for Poe was the main driving force in this story, and along the way there were a few particularly surprising reveals that are hinting at a much bigger direction for this series as a whole. There's definitely something sinister going on between the lab experiments to unlock latent powers and misinformation campaign to keep supernaturals suppressed, and I'm eager to get some answers. I thought the romance between Oliver and Priest came to a satisfyingly happy ending, and I'm really loving the cast of characters that make up Trident Agency. Can't wait to see where Knight's story is headed in the next book!

This captivating story just grabs your attention immediately! The beginning overlaps a bit with the first book in the series, and as it's been a while between books, I went back and did a quick skim of that one to refresh my memory.
There is a little more development of the secondary characters, the world building, as well as for the overarching storyline running through this series, and there are definitely some intriguing surprises to be discovered in this book.
Priest has been infatuated with Oliver, but tries to avoid him as much as possible, feeling unworthy and fearing he would hurt Oliver. Oliver has been equally infatuated, but doesn't understand why Priest won't get closer.
When things go FUBAR, Priest is unable to stay away due to his overwhelming need to protect Oliver. And when they finally give in to their feelings and desires for one another, it is beautiful - still slow going, but beautiful - and leads to some of those surprises. They are amazingly compatible sexually and have many steamy encounters. The bond that connects them is powerful and leads to an equally powerful and wholly devoted love.
I am really enjoying this series. This book was highly entertaining and so engaging I read it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down! I would definitely recommend it.

I received an ARC, this is my unbiased, honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this book! The plot was plotting hard, and the series has a running undercurrent storyline that keeps the pages turning while the Trident Security dudes find their fated mates.

Priest, an incubus, has lived a shitty life. His found family, the Trident teams, have kept him going. He also keeps being drawn to the a-dork-able bookstore owner Oliver. Their vibes are immaculate, but Priest has been denying his demon and who he is for a LONG TIME.

When an explosion in Oliver's shop sets off a chain of events all Priest can seem to think about or focus on is Oliver.

But Oliver's bestie/brother is missing, and nothing will stop him from finding Poe. Not even his maybe mate? Priest.

Like I said, the plot really goes off in this one, but if you like the spice, this book delivers. I mean... Priest is an incubus, so there has to be some spice.

Also, Priest will really be best enjoyed if you read SUNSHINE, book one. You'll get all the characters and world building. This series is great if you wanna like or get into monster/human books, and maybe you're a little too intimidated by the non-human anatomy.

SUNSHINE is available now ✨️hellhound/half siren
PRIEST will be out tomorrow, NOVEMBER 25

Definitely recommend!!!!

Priest is the compelling second installment in E.M. Lindsey and Kiki Clark’s Trident Agency series, following the events of the first book, Sunshine.

Although this novel centers on a new couple, Priest and Oliver, the series’ overarching plot continues to grow, making it most rewarding to read the books in order. The authors weave the ongoing world-building and suspenseful agency narrative seamlessly into this new romance.

The romantic dynamic between Oliver and Priest is a standout feature of the book. Priest, a powerful demon and dedicated bodyguard, exudes a strong alpha presence. His protective nature and deep devotion to Oliver drive much of the emotional core, creating that classic “touch him and 💀” tension that fans of possessive romance heroes will enjoy.

This blend of compelling character relationships and ongoing suspense makes Priest an engaging read for lovers of queer paranormal and bodyguard romance. With its mix of found-family vibes and expanding universe, the book will appeal both to readers invested in the larger series arc and those looking for a passionate, protective romance at its heart.

All in all, Priest is a captivating blend of steamy romance and thrilling suspense, perfect for fans of protective heroes.

A demon incubus & a human love story with action

Priest is a demon incubus working at the Trident Security Agency. He's got a bit of a crush on Oliver, a human bookstore owner. Priest tries his best not to get involved with Oliver since demons don't have fated mates, and he doesn't want to hurt Oliver by losing control and draining him for his incubus needs, but he can't stay away. And then something happens that gets him and his agency involved. Priest and Oliver find themselves staying together in close quarters, and things develop fast between them.

This story is a love story between the two main characters, but it is so much more than that. There are secrets and conspiracies, lots of action, bombings, kidnappings and puzzles to be solved. The series has an overall plot theme which continues through from the first book, and we are left at the end waiting for the third book to find out what happens next.

Priest and Oliver are a wonderful couple who prove that hope and love win. They are really sweet together. Priest is protective. Oliver is supportive. And together they are understanding of each other. I really enjoyed this book and am enjoying the series.

Priest, an Incubus, feeds on the lust of others and it’s a dangerous path that leads to an insatiable hunger that threatens his sanity. Despite this, Priest is drawn to Oliver, a kind bookstore owner who makes him nervous and tongue-tied. Priest knows he can never act on his feelings because the risk of draining Oliver. However, when Oliver’s bookstore is destroyed in a fire, Priest realizes he’ll do whatever it takes to protect him. As the two grow closer, Priest finds it increasingly hard to resist his cravings, especially as they uncover disturbing secrets about Oliver and the supernatural world. Together, they must navigate these dangers, with Priest and Oliver learning to trust one another while facing threats from a powerful force targeting them both. The deeper their connection, the more perilous their situation becomes, leading to a journey of both love and survival. There's also more than Oliver than anyone ever suspected. The book is action-packed, steamy, romantic, funny, and this series keeps getting better and better.

Priest is the second book in the Trident Agency series by Kiki Clark and EM Lindsey. There is an overarching plot that continues through the series so we see more development on that, as well as more side character development (mainly Knight, but also Poe and Azriel). MCs this time around are Priest (an incubus with an insatiable hunger) and Oliver (a human bookshop owner) who keep gravitating towards one another for reasons unknown to them, but we as readers can plainly see that its fate guiding them. They are cute and awkward at first but once they finally take a chance on each other its full speed ahead. This book is pretty spicy, but what do you expect when one of the MCs is a lust demon? I really liked Priest and Oliver together. Super supportive, protective, and possessive of each other.

Well written, and great overall plot. To make things even more interesting there are a couple twists I didn’t personally see coming, making me all the more excited for the next book coming out in 2025. Knight will be the next MC. We learn so much more about this normally closed off vampire here in book 2. Cant wait for him to get his HEA, because poor guy has had it ROUGH.

I absolutely devoured this book!! This series definitely took a very different direction than I was expecting. This book held a lot more of a serious tone and really developed the main crux of the series, and I am so excited for more books to come out!

I really enjoyed Priest and Oliver and how cute, sweet, and earnest they were to each other. They both needed love and acceptance so badly and were just so perfectly made for each other. I enjoyed the bit of push and pull the two had between them.

I will say that I feel like their relationship development was a bit overshadowed by the plot a bit. I wanted to see so much more development between them. But I will say that despite this wish, I genuinely enjoyed this book and thought these two were so cute! I really can't wait for Knight's book next!

3.5.

This was better than book one. The plot and story were more developed overall. I did get a little bored as the pacing slowed a bit after the main drama was settled. But, there were parts within that slowness that are important to the overarching plot and world development.

Priest and Oliver are very sweet together. I’m glad that Priest finally found love and satisfaction for his incubus side. I really liked both MCs and their dynamic, but there’s still something missing that’s keeping me from really connecting and getting immersed in the story. Even the sex scenes were boring to me 😱. They just lacked intensity, I think. Oliver is sweet. I wish the authors had highlighted his book knowledge more…it would have made him more interesting. It’s mentioned late in the book that he’s a historian, but I would never have guessed that from what was shown in the book other than being TOLD.

Knight’s book is up next. I’ve got my fingers crossed that his story will be a bit more gripping due to his traumatic past of being held prisoner and tortured…poor baby 🥺.

"I have to protect you. I have to do everything in my power to keep you safe because I don't think I could live in this world without you now that I know how perfect we are together."

I’m a sucker for a supe fighting his true being and then finding the one person that allows him to be his true self. Not to mention Human and Demon…I may have a Demon kink. FYI.

Priest is a good soul, and I’m all in for his possessive and caring love for Oliver. It’s hot and adorable.

Oliver is also amazing. He’s full of surprises, but definitely not in his deep love for Priest. He is fierce and passionate.

There’s also a great suspenseful storyline throughout the series that I’m wholly devoted to following.
