Devoted
This book was amazing- it had so many layers. I loved how the characters were developed in the storyline…unraveling pieces of their past helped the reader understand the depth of emotion behind the romantic suspense! I highly recommend!

The couple: Mark and Ivy
Romance trope: bodyguard
Series: Red Mark Rescue and Protect
Length: 315 pages
Plot: Mark is no longer Ivy's bodyguard, but when her child is threatened, she knows he is the one who will protect them. Her job as Attorney General means that she has enemies, and those enemies have come for her son. Mark will do anything for the woman he secretly loves and in return, her devotion to him means that she will break through the emotional walls he put up, even if that means sharing her deepest secrets.
Commentary: A *little* telenovela-ish with the secret baby and finding him doing what he was doing, not to mention the evil mother. However, I liked how Ivy was willing to wait for Mark, even if I didn't quite understand why he was so reluctant. I mean, I get it - you were hurt. But he was definitely in love with Ivy, so I was also thinking - what's the holdup? I guess we all have something. It did make me sad that the teenager had so much trauma. I'm not sure I entirely understood that. He did have a family, and while the mother didn't sound great, the father seemed loving. But the kid acted like he was abused and then just took off and got himself into a mess. It was weird and seemed like it might be missing context (other than bah, teenagers). Still, I did enjoy the eventual giving in and of course, the wedding when everyone made it there.

I loved Mark and Ivy's storyline. They both have demanding jobs and Mark was her protection a few years back after Noah was kidnapped by a psycho. They shared a moment and since then Ivy knows he is a very good man but keeps himself at bay and isn't interested in a relationship.
Ivy ends up as the AG of Montana and Mark is part owner of Red Mark Rescue along with his partner Sam.
As Ivy's son Noah has been kidnapped from school and Ivy knows immediately, she needs to call Mark. Mark and Sam meet her at Noah's school and from there try to determine who might have taken him.
This book has lots of twists and turns and full of suspense, so I won't give anything else away. This is a must read.
