A wonderful collection of the author's big game hunting adventures early in the past century in colonial India and Africa. Visit a time and place that now exists only in history. The author describes his hunts for tiger, lion, elephant, etc., as well as personal anecdotes about the places he live and the people he met, especially his dear friend and gunbearer Hamisi. Originally published in 1933 and republished as part of Peter Hathaway Capstick's work with St. Martin's Press. Keep in mind that this was written in a different time when what was then acceptable, e.g., colonisation, class, hunting ivory for profit, etc., is nowadays properly recognised as blatantly wrong. At the same time it is a glimpse into a past no one alive today has any chance to learn about other than through reading old texts such as this one.
