'Get the cameras rolling - Indiana Jones meets Alien. What a combination of mystery, suspense, and unspeakable horror. I loved it!' R.L. Stine
Sometimes the truth is stranger than you could ever imagine...
All across America, CIA agents are being hunted down and murdered in bizarre circumstances. The deaths cause ripples of panic to spread all through the agency and the finger of blame is pointing at disappeared Defense Intelligence operatives, Ethan Warner and Nicola Lopez, and at Warner's missing fiancée, Joanna Defoe.
No longer friendly with the CIA after a botched operation that put them in the line of fire, Warner and Lopez are on their own mission to find Joanna. But when their old boss, Doug Jarvis, hunts them down, they realize that they have one last chance to clear their names - find the person responsible for the murders, or be accused themselves.
But the operation is far from simple, and the tentacles of conspiracy spread far wider than Warner and Lopez could ever have imagined. In fact, it's a job that looks set to send them all the way to hell and back.
And hell is precisely where Joanna has been...
'Earth-shattering intrigue, hyperdrive action and a desperate race to save humanity, cranked up to the max with scarily realistic science and apocalyptic religion thrown in for good measure . . . a major new talent has hit the mystery thriller scene' Scott Mariani, bestselling author of The Lost Relic
'The fossilised remains of a 7,000-year-old creature dug from the sands of the Negev Desert in Israel become the bones of contention in Dean Crawford's fast-paced debut thriller... The book neatly threads together a wild variety of plotlines' Wall Street Journal
`Partly mythical read, part thriller this pacy tale is a page turner guaranteed to keep you up late' Sun
'The Eternity Project' is the fifth instalment in the Ethan Warner/Nicola Lopez series and it is essential to read the first four before starting this one otherwise the arc of the story and the background of the characters are difficult to understand. In this outing, Warner and Lopez have been given the chance to redeem themselves by solving a number of murders involving CIA agents. This leads them to Ethan's ex fiancee, Joanna Defoe, who was thought to have died in Gaza several years ago. Turns out she is alive but has been put through a number of gruesome experiments as part of 'the eternity project', a secret undertaking designed to determine the nature of life after death. Experiments that have changed her, and others, greatly. I enjoyed this book, it was fast paced, energetic and at times thought-provoking.
This book was not what I was expecting. In a good way.
Major plot developments and the return of the elusive Joanna Defoe sent the story line into new, and exciting territory. Ethan is growing and expanding, leaving behind his anger and pain, and becoming into a new, better man. Lopez too is changing but I can't say I'm warming to her. I sincerely hope Crawford is not intending to put them together romantically. I understand his longing for Joanna, but I don't think they would make a good match. The ending surprised me even more and I look forward to see where Crawford takes the dynamic duo of Warner and Lopez Inc in the next book.
A new Ethan Warner thriller is always a treat and The Eternity Project is no exception. This novel moves on stories from previous books while throwing a new horrifying mystery into the works. As usual with these books, thrills mix well with science fiction and the unexplained. The Eternity Project relies on your knowledge of previous novels, so I wouldn't start reading the series here. Go back to the earlier books and give yourself a treat.
It's been a while since Warner and Lopez were in my life and I was glad, no make that damn glad, that they came back in a story so densely plotted but expertly executed. Grounded more in city settings and traditional thriller territory, Dean aced it and the supernatural element melded very well indeed. Bang up for more.
Dean Crawford has another winner in the Ethan Warner/Nicola Lopez series. This time they are going after a wraith, a vengeful spirit while we learn more of what happened to Ethan's wife, Joanna. Lots of action and science fact thrown in. I stopped reading a few times to check on the facts in the novel. My verdict is very well researched.
and finally, we get to the big one project MK ultra, just wow, the twist and turns of this are outstanding showing just what the human mind is capable of and then some
