I am enjoying this series by Blake Pierce. Silent Trail is the 2nd book. Sheila Stone is working with the police department to help solve some murders on a local campus. The common denominator in all these murders is they all had history of being bullies or making others miserable by being mean. So I found that very interesting because I hate bullies more than anything! And the end of the story had a little cliffhanger to keep me interested in getting the next audiobook in the series!
P.S. I was really annoyed with the reader as I’ve stated in my previous Blake Pierce reviews. But I googled the reader and her name is Vivianne but she is a synthesized voice!!!!She’s not a real person! Thank God the mystery is solved!!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️

Any murder investigation usually starts at the body found, followed often by a twisted trail of clues to a murderer.
Sheila, however, is not a police woman and has no training on such investigations whatsoever. With her older sister Natalie on hand, Sheila is actually displaying an an amazing mind in following such clues to whatever twisted mind that resulted in a murder.
Unless one's own presumptions interfere.
As happens here in Silent Trail.
When the knived to death body of a female student is found in a locker on a campus, Sheila is engaged once again as 'silent consultant" to her sister, the sheriff.
And for this reader the fun part is to get to find out who the guilty miscreant may be before anybody else....all in one sitting.
Author Blake Pierce once again crafted a stunner mystery thriller with Silent Trail.
Enjoy.

drama overload

I’m not speaking of the stage sort. I’m talking female version of “I feel SO guilty” ad nauseam. Sheila Stone is a well developed character, but the looking into her drama-filled mind bogs down an otherwise good mystery. Additionally, I can’t imagine where in the real world a sister would be allowed to try out being a deputy. I have not read Book One and know that I am missing some background. If I had, I likely wouldn’t have read this one. I’ve read other books by Blake Pierce and liked them, but I’ll not follow this series. The reason I gave Silent Trail three stars is because it has a really good plot.

The plot was quite interesting, it kept me reading and finishing the story. Finn and Natalie were nice characters, but I did not like Sheila and her acting alone towards the end. Getting out was so unlikely. I disliked the lengthy descriptions of scenery in the middle of action scenes. For a romance that would have been fit, but not here. I felt there are many repetitions of phrases like "under her breath", "the man seemed", "Herculean effort".
I see the author writes a lot, perhaps he should put more effort in fine tuning single stories.

You have to suspend your common sense

The premise itself of an amateur being allowed to participate so actively in a police investigation is surely flawed.
Without risking spoilers by giving examples of further implausibilities that litter this - I would just say you need to read with a huge pinch of salt.
I tried, but at around 80% I gave up, by then I wasn’t bothered enough about any of the characters to continue.

Awe inspiring drama

A truly awe inspiring murder/mystery. Sheila Stone, a former kick boxing champion, now retired, is drawn into an investigation Shen college students beg being found stabbed to death and stuffed in their school lockers. With the help of her wheelchair bound sister, a sheriff, and a deputy, she sets out to try and solve this horrendous case. Who could be murdering college students and why. What is their motive. A truly enticing and dramatic story.

I was surprised at how much I disliked this book.
Once again our hero’s are so so smart and dedicated with minor flaws that are blown out of proportion.
While they are so intelligent and or tough and great fighters. They also make the most stupid decisions.
No surprises. Last minute heroics beyond belief.
No sense of reality in this book at all.
Hard to like any of these characters.
This book is a set up for a series.
One of which I will not be buying.

A really simple story written in an almost basic style, no tension with cardboard characters.
Back story trauma felt as if it was designed to give the protagonist some depth instead it just seemed contrived.
Plot was so predictable even the final showdown.
I have several of his books on my Kindle, this is the first one I've read so I'm hoping it's not typical.

Different

I found the storyline to be interesting but at the same time a bit unbelievable. The Sheriffs sister working with a Detective and getting heavily involved in a case. Then taking such a risk to catch the killer was quite unbelievable to say the least. All in all not a bad story though.

Gave up after reading a third of it. Too unbelievably. The main character is a consultant to the sheriffs department. This is only the second time she’s helping them yet it’s like she’s the lead detective.

She is the sheriffs sister hit that shouldn’t matter

I wish authors wrote books that are more realistic. I’m Tired of all the nonsense that are in these stories

I'm not sure how Sheila gets to do all the investigating when she is not a cop and hasn't even started any training. Also, despite non-discrimination/accessibility regulations, I don't understand how Natalie in her wheelchair is doing any investigation.

These elements lack logic for me

Great read

It kept me on the edge of my seat⁶
Intense. No swearing or sex. Female hero. All of Blake Pierce books are great. Very intense. Sometimes so intense I have to stop reading for a bit

enjoyable second installment

Particularly like the way the author writes to bring you into the story and backfill information from previous installment. He also leads very well to the danger and mystery of the next installment.

There is much detail that I did not need to follow the plot line.
I wish the reader knew more about the father. We only get small parts of his story. I think it is the missing piece of the puzzle that would give me a more complete understanding, of the plot.

She did it again. Sheila will be a great cop. She has raw instincts and delivers. It was really a great ride.

Amazing

This serial killer thriller book was engaging and enthralling right from the start. It kept me attuned to the story from start to end. It was well put together.

I'm liking this "Silent" series

I have really enjoyed the first two books in this series. There were some repetitive phrases too close together and throughout the book, but overall the storyline moved quickly and kept me interested. I'll be buying the next one.
