Jill Steeples lives in a small market town in Bedfordshire with her husband. When she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, walking, crocheting, musical theatre, baking cakes, eating them and the occasional tipple.
From an early age she fell in love with the fabulously funny romances of Jilly Cooper, and vowed, one day, she would have a go at writing one of her own.
Jill started her career writing short stories, particularly those with a twist in the tail, and her work has appeared in popular women’s magazines around the world and in a number of charity anthologies.
Now she writes feel-good, uplifting fiction for Boldwood Books and her works include The Dog & Duck series and The Primrose Woods series.
Overall, I have quite enjoyed this Primrose Hall series but I didn’t find this one to be too dissimilar to the other books. Although Jackson’s half brother, Tom, is the central focus to the plot, Jackson hovers on the outside and I still found his moody behaviour to be quite irksome. Over time, I have struggled to see what Pia sees in Jackson because he is presented as rather self-entitled and moody when he doesn’t get his own way. Definitely qualities I wouldn’t want in a man!
However, for the most part, we see a sweet relationship developing between Tom and Sophie. I enjoyed seeing Tom having to step up when Jackson is removed from Primrose Hall and it was especially great to see how Pia’s events have become a growing success. The story is rather predictable – it is clear there will be a happy ending – and I think the lack of surprise meant I didn’t get too involved in the story. It washed a bit over my head because I knew how Steeples would finish the novel.
At times I thought that Steeples was using this book as an interim for the finale of Primrose Hall. Pia and Jackson finally make a commitment to setting a date for their wedding: the next book is clearly going to be this event at Primrose Hall. Therefore, this story felt more like a bridging gap that focused on a more minor character, before Pia and Jackson become the main focus again. This might explain why I felt the story fell flat a few times over the novel.
Overall, this is a gentle read that has a lovely setting of a typical British village. I think it helps to have read the other books in the series to know more about the main characters, especially as this is the penultimate one. Whilst I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other books, I am looking forward to seeing how Steeples concludes this series.
With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The main focus for the latest book in this lovely series is Jackson’s recently found brother Tom – he needs to prove that he’s trustworthy and hardworking, and does well when he takes over the running of the Sunday craft sales in the stables at Primrose Hall. And that’s where Sophie sells her jewellery – her controlling marriage thankfully behind her, she’s hopeful that she can make her enterprise successful enough to do it full time. Neither of them is looking for love, but their friendship shows real signs of becoming something rather more – but when they’ve both been so damaged by previous relationships, they need to take things slowly.
When tragedy strikes (as the synopsis tells us), Jackson’s fiancée Pia really needs Tom’s support with a major event in the offing – and he certainly steps up to the plate, improving his relationship with his brother in the process. But that’s not the only bit of drama that occurs – there are other significant challenges, involving the wider cast of characters we’ve got to know so well through the earlier books, where Tom’s help proves invaluable too. And while a happy ending for everyone is never seriously in doubt, it proves to be quite an emotional journey – and so very well handled – before life settles down once more and we can look to the future.
Because of its focus, this book would be entirely readable – and very enjoyable – as a standalone, but even more so as part of the series with more familiarity around the friendships and family relationships that underpin the story and continue to play out in the background. The author’s storytelling is as accomplished as always – the narrative perfectly paced, the setting beautifully described, full of warmth and with touches of well-judged humour, with the perfect romantic touches and very real characters. I’m not sure if this is the last book in the series – it felt like it just might be – but I’ll be very much looking forward to seeing what Jill Steeples does next. This series has been a complete joy to read – and one I’d very much recommend to others.
3.5 stars: Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall is the 5th book in the Primrose Woods series. I think I would have enjoyed this book more, if I had read the previous 4 books. Jackson Moody is the owner of Primrose Hall. He has converted the stables for Sunday craft fairs as well as many other events on the estate such as a literary festival, craft fayres, bonfire nights and more. Jackson's fiancée, Pia, has been running the events, but he has asked his newly discovered brother, Tom, to help out to give her less work. It turns out this was great timing because when a tragedy occurs, Pia needs Tom even more. Sophie Wright is trying to start over after a turbulent relationship. Tom befriends her and leans on her when he is dealing with the situation. This brings them closer together, and maybe, Tom can convince her to try again.
This was a sweet romance with characters that were introduced in previous books. I enjoyed the story, but I didn't really connect with the characters. I think it was because the author assumed we already knew about their pasts etc. and I didn't know a lot about the characters. The one character that I liked was Sophie. She was wounded and trying to start up her own business selling jewelry. I felt for her and wanted to be there to help her out, luckily, Tom was. There are some complications in the story between Pia and Jackson, as well as Sophie and her ex. I do wish I had read the previous books and seeing that the previous one is a Christmas story, I might give it a go.
Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall by Jill Steeples. Primrose Woods Book 5. The Sunday craft fairs in the renovated stables are a popular draw for the locals and tourists alike, enticed by the beautiful surroundings of Primrose Woods as well as the irresistible goodies on display. But for Sophie Wright they’re a chance to forge a new life and a new business. After leaving behind a turbulent relationship, Sophie is starting again – and romance is the last thing on her mind. He’s just happy to be part of the family. But when tragedy strikes, Pia needs Tom more than he ever expected. And when Tom needs a shoulder to cry on, Sophie might be the perfect person to help – if only she hadn’t sworn off romance for good… This was a really good book. I did like the cover. I did like Sophie and Tom and how they were together. Well written, and I got into it straight away. Short chapters, so I read it quickly. I loved how Pia and Jackson were. I'm looking forward to the next book. 4*.
2,5-3-ish stars. I've loved the previous books in the series, and knew what to expect: a feel-good, cosy book. A "typical " British small village/town/tight community -read. And whilst that's exactly what I got, and what I wanted, I just found the story to be a bit flat and not really much of a story. I enjoyed being reunited with the lovely characters, but found the storyline lacking, there just wasn't really a story there
Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall is a sweet and charming romance and another delightful installment in the Primrose Woods series.
Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall is the latest installment in the Primrose series. I would highly recommend reading books three and four in the series before diving into this book because if you don’t, you might feel a little lost. In book three, we are introduced to Pia and Jackson’s characters, and in book four, we are introduced to Tom and, briefly, to Sophie’s characters. If you read books three and four, you better understand the character’s back stories and what has happened up to this point. I enjoyed this story. It’s a sweet and easy read with a lot of heart. Jill really knows how to create a story that will tug at those heartstrings and also have those butterflies fluttering in your stomach. This story is told from Pia, Tom, Sophie, and Katy’s POV. I’m not always a fan of a book that changes POVs a lot, but I didn’t mind it in this case. The changing of the POVs made it feel like you were watching your favourite TV soap opera without all the unbelievable drama. The characters’ stories interact with each other cohesively and entertainingly. Everything flowed nicely, and it made for a pleasant read.
The characters in this book and series are all so wonderful. I loved getting to know Sophie; she is a great addition to the series and a perfect fit for Tom’s character. It’s also great getting to spend more time with Tom and see how things have been for him after all the events from the previous book. The romance between Sophie and Tom is sweet and delightful. I loved watching these two characters get to know each other and watch those feelings of friendship develop into something more. Pia and Jackson are my favourite characters/couple, and I just want good things for them. My heart broke for them in this book, but it was still wonderful seeing them work together to get through those tougher moments that happen in life. All the characters in this book feel real and relatable. Even though this is a charming romance story, the character’s lives are not perfect. They all have problems/struggles they are trying to work through. And most importantly, their struggles are relatable. Sophie is trying to find herself after leaving a toxic relationship, Katy is struggling to find that work/home/personal life balance, and Tom is trying to find his place in this newfound family. I loved just being with these characters and watching their journeys unfold on the pages.
If you are looking for a charming English small-town romance then you should definitely give this book a try.
If ever there was a literary embodiment of a gentle soul, Jill Steeples's Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall would fit the bill. In this fifth book in the Primrose Woods series, a weekly craft fair provides a cute backdrop for Sophie Wright who, after a recent breakup, finds herself needing a fresh start. Thankfully, selling jewelry on the weekends at her friends Pia and Jackson's stables provides the perfect distraction. And as much as she isn't interested in a new romance, getting to talk with Tom, the utterly charming and new manager of the craft shows, is an added bonus.
Steeples writes with a genuine kindness for her subjects. In the early sections, as Sophie navigates putting together her wares and figuring out what she wants to do with her life, she's painted with such wounded sweetness it's almost impossible not to form an affection for her. It's a skill Steeples deepens throughout the book, painting the stables themselves as a rollicking, idyllic community with a ragtag group of lovable denizens around it. Sunny is fittingly right there in the title—with Steeples at the helm, there's a heartening warmth pouring out of these pages.
However, that's not to suggest everything's always so rosy. Steeples knows how to add drama, which is often employed with Pia and Jackson. After a nasty accident, Jackson finds himself in hospital—a place he'll do nearly anything to leave. In these moments, the action shifts over to Pia, whose worries (and later, frustrations) over her husband are practically palpable. Some of this action might play better for readers with previous knowledge of the series, although this does work entirely as a standalone. Sophie, too, has her own worries, and some of the most compelling action comes from confrontations she's forced into with her ex.
But it's the moments between Sophie and Tom where Sunny Sundays really shines. While to most readers the chemistry between the two might seem immediately apparent, Steeples is careful to start them as tentative friends. They can't even get through a meal together without bashful awkwardness. But this slow approach has its charms and, ultimately, after side glances, timid jokes, and plenty of blushing, the payoff works.
It's this type of gentleness that permeates all of Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall, and, by its close, you feel as though you've just been told a story by an old friend. A delightfully sweet one at that.
Note: I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

As the sun bathes the charming village, readers step into a world where community, love, and second chances intertwine. In the latest novel, "Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall" by Jill Steeples, the pages weave a delightful tapestry of laughter, tears, and romance that will leave you craving more.
At the heart of this enchanting tale lies Primrose Hall. This place is more than just a stately manor. It's the pulse of the community, a beacon of warmth, and the stage for Sunday craft fairs held in the renovated stables. Locals and tourists alike flock to these events, drawn not only by the irresistible goodies on display but also by the breathtaking surroundings of Primrose Woods.
Meet Sophie Wright. She is a spirited woman seeking solace after leaving behind a turbulent relationship. For Sophie, the craft fairs are more than a chance to sell her wares; they're an opportunity to forge a new life and a new business. Romance? Not on her radar. But life has a way of surprising us, especially when a drop-dead gorgeous stranger enters the scene.
Meet Tom Moody. He is Jackson Moody's newly-discovered older brother, and revels in being part of the Primrose Hall community. His contentment lies in mucking in wherever he can be helpful. But when tragedy strikes, Tom's role takes an unexpected turn. Pia, Jackson's fiancée, needs him more than ever. And when Tom himself needs comfort, Sophie might just be the perfect shoulder to cry on. She does have a no-romance policy, after all.
Steeples paints Primrose Hall with vivid strokes, making it a place readers will yearn to visit. The lush greenery, the scent of blooming flowers, and the cozy corners where secrets are shared, all come alive. It's truly the characters who steal the show. From quirky villagers to steadfast friends, each person adds depth and charm to the narrative.
Readers have fallen head over heels for the adventures at Primrose Hall, and I am no exception. “Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall” is a delightful, warm, and cozy read. Steeples never fails to deliver heartwarming books that resonate long after the final page. As you curl up with this novel, prepare for laughter, tears, and a sense of belonging. Primrose Hall awaits, and its magic will wrap around you like a cherished quilt.
Thank-you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
In the last instalment, we met a couple of new characters, Tom Moody, and Sophie Wright. This book sees the focus shift to their stories, and it made for a thoroughly heartwarming experience. As the synopsis explains, Tom is the newly discovered elder brother to Jackson Moody, who owns Primrose Hall. Sophie is a new maker exhibiting at the Stables craft sales each Sunday. Tom’s relationship with Jackson has slowly improved and he’s taken on the responsibility for the organisation of the craft events in the stables. It was a pleasure to see their relationship blossom in the last book, so I was delighted to read that there was now an even greater level of trust between them both. Sophie escaped to the area, fleeing her relationship with a controlling heavy drinker. Whilst his abuse of her was never physical, she is still damaged by the effects of a life lived on eggshells. It’s no wonder that she has sworn off relationships and is only looking for friendship. This is a slow burn romance that sees the healing power of friendship and how love can form in even the most damaged hearts. It’s certainly not a spoiler to say that they provide each other with the support that they both need. Jackson and Pia’s relationship remains at the heart of the story, but life isn’t without challenges for them or their extended family. Despite the challenges that are woven into this book, there is never a feeling of desperation, and I instinctively knew that whilst the ending may not be as straightforward as imagined, there was no danger of not finding the happy ending for those in and around Primrose Hall. Jill Steeples has created a community that I would love to be part of. Each character brings something quite special to the mix. It’s even a pleasure to revisit those that we met in the earlier books and find out how they are doing. This special series can be enjoyed as standalone stories, but they each contribute to the bigger theme, and it would be a shame not to follow this across all the instalments. I cannot recommend the Primrose Woods and Hall series enough as they will easily reassure you of the joys of life.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My Opinion
No matter what time of year, it is always pleasant to return to Primrose Hall. This is the fifth book in the series and whilst it could be read as a standalone it would be beneficial to read the books in order. Jill Steeples writes a kind, light-hearted book that really cheers up a miserable day. Jill has written a slight tragedy into this book but it all just shows how the residents can come together to help when needed.
This is another stunning book to add to the Primrose Woods series. Why not pop along to the latest craft fair? I am sure you will find something you like.

Sunny Sundays at Primrose Hall is the fifth romance in the Primose Woods series. There is a lot going on at Primrose Hall as seasons start to change. Pia and Jackson have just gotten engaged and are working on setting a date for their wedding. Sophie has decided to move back, escaping a bad relationship. Tom is finding his footing in Primrose as he takes on the job of helping with the Sunday craft sales at the stables. Rex and Ronnie are off on a trip of their own. It’s a busy time of year, but nothing comes without drama.
I have only read the sixth book in this series and with that one I felt like I was playing catch up. Already knowing the characters from that book, it was really easy to jump into this book and hit the ground running. I need to start from the beginning of this series, but even with my unconventional reading order this was still a great book. I loved the setting and the craft shows. They were the perfect place for most of this book to take place. The relationships and characters in this book truly drive the series and make it so hard to put these books down. I loved everything about this book and found it sweet and cozy, yet filled with drama. This series are the perfect tips of books to curl up on the couch with and devour. I really enjoy what I’ve read of this series and need to check out more. If you are looking for a sweet, lighthearted read that has you feeling nostalgic, this series is for you!
The Primrose Woods series is one I can always get into. I've read all in the series and always eagerly look forward to more additions to it. The beautiful setting of Primrose Hall is front and center in this charming and uplifting book. Sophie has struggled through a bad relationship and finally she's out of it and ready to start anew. Primrose Hall has weekend craft fairs and it's the perfect opportunity for Sophie. She finds the customers warm and welcoming and the others at Primrose Hall just what she needs. Tom newly found brother of Jacks, Lord of the Manor has to earn the trust of those around him and he'll do whatever it takes. As Sophie and Tom spend more time together, they just click, too bad Sophie isn't interested in a new romance yet. I enjoyed catching up with the characters in the past book in the series. When Jackson is in an accident Tom is able to prove his worth and earn the trust of others as he spends a lot of time helping out. Full of love, laughter, tender moments, friendships and a slow burn romance. Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect, sometimes it's better. Fabulous relaxation read that has me wanting to visit Primrose Hall now and have tea with its occupants.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
In the latest installment of the series, readers return to Primrose Hall in the English countryside where Jackson and Pia are continuing to rebuild the historic building. Newcomer Sophie Wright is trying to restart her life, and meeting Tom, Jackson’s recently discovered older brother, was definitely not in the cards. Life at Primrose Hall is not always perfect, and Pia must lean on Tom when tragedy strikes -- and Sophie becomes someone Tom can rely on during these difficult days. As the events at Primrose Hall continue to go on despite the tragedies and the difficulties the four protagonists face, relationships are strengthened, tested, and forged over the course of this novel. With charming characters and a uniquely lovely setting, Jill Steeples’s novel is a fun and idyllic setting for a romance and fiction novel. The characters themselves are clever, complex, and unique, and the relationships they build over the course of the novel are realistic and fun to follow. Primrose Hall is another character in the novel, and the protagonists’ relationship with the house and the other minor characters (particularly Jackson and Tom’s family) adds to the atmosphere of the novel. A great installment in the series and a fun summer romance, readers are sure to enjoy Steeples’s latest book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the advance copy.
A cosy and heart warming read from the lovely Jill Steeples. This was number 5 in the Primrose Woods series and not having read the others, I was delighted to be able to follow along easily and not at a disadvantage as the backstories were summed up nicely.
This story revolves around Sophie and Tom, who were both previous characters in the last book going by the narration. Although I know that new books revolve around new couples, I must say that there really wasn't much progress in their story. They ended up liking each other and sharing a couple of kisses and cuddles but the majority of the book was based around the struggles and circumstances of a previous pair of couples. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just breaking from the normal storyboards.
I hope to see that the couples are progressing in the next installment. Primrose Hall and its inhabitants give a lovely sense of community and warmth and it's just the type of book that you can cuddle up with on a winter's day.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the fifth book in the Primrose series, although it can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend starting at the beginning (something I'm ashamed to say I haven't done yet, although the books are in my TBR list) . This time the story concentrates on Tom, Lord of the Manor Jackson’s newly-discovered older brother, and Sophie, who is starting again after the end of a stormy relationship. Don't worry though, all the previous characters are still there and their story continues. For me this is an ideal setting for a series, a glorious location, a small community, which enables individuals stories to be interwoven without becoming stale. There are highs and lows, with some characters being in trouble, but it was great to see Tom and Sophie's relationship develop despite both their previous troublesome pasts. A great book to read and lose yourself in and dream of happier times. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
The Primrose Hall series of books have a likeable set of characters and a lovely sense of family and community. Not that everything goes smoothly all the time, In this fifth in the series, Pia has some serious challenges to face and Jackson's brother, Tom, has to step up to the plate. Working to help out at the Hall, he meets Sophie, who has had a difficult time and is trying to re-establish her life on an even keel.
It is interesting to see how attitudes change as the story evolves, especially Jackson's who has stood back, emotionally, from his newly acquired brother. I can absolutely visualise the Hall and its neighbouring countryside. Characters from previous stories appear from time to time, so it is good to catch up with their lives. I am hoping for another in the series as I think that Pia's story still has further to go. This is one of those series which leave you feeling uplifted, looking on the bright side.
In short: Family, friends, romance Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book
Primrose Hall and the community there Are inspirational and everyone shows they care. I welcome the opportunity to visit once more To discover events, romances and places to explore.
This time there’s dramas and new folks, too, With lots for everyone to work their way through. Fresh starts for folks who have broken apart, Maybe with the chance to heal there hearts?
A lovely read, with some worrying twists And romance, family drama and events not to be missed. When help is needed, there are supportive friends and family, Helping each other through whatever the calamity.
A gorgeous read with characters who feel like friends Making you regret when the story ends. I love reading this series and can’t wait for more To catch up on them again and new folks to explore.
For my copy of this book I say thank you As I share with this, my honest review!
A pleasant way to spend an evening reading a cute and fun story that I enjoyed. This story would be an excellent Hallmark movie. This book has all the feel goods that a reader could want! I really enjoyed this book to the fullest. Wonderful characters and such beautiful scenery! I felt like I was there! I think it was the cover that made me want to read it because anything that has horses on the cover it is bound to be good! I wasn't disappointed at all! This new to me author has done a marvelous job with this book. I didn't want it to end. In my opinion it can also be read as a stand alone too. This is book 5 in the Primrose Hall series. I'm giving this book 5 stars. I recommend. My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Primrose Hall series is an absolute favourite of mine and it wraps itself around you like a warm hug, giving you all the fuzzy feels.
Sunny Days is the fifth installment to this charming series and although is easy to read as a standalone, I would urge you to start at the beginning, you don't want to miss out!
We become reacquainted with some old faces and meet some new. Its always a treat to revisit Primrose Hall and have a catch up, but saying goodbye always comes around too soon.
It's feel good fiction at its finest. It's enjoyable, heartwarming and always an absolute delight to read.
This book is part of a series, and while it would be helpful to read the prior books just due to familiarity with the characters and writing style, it is not necessarily a requirement. This book follows Sophie, looking to start anew, and Tom, a local guy that loves to help out. These two wind up helping each other in their times of need, and this book really is a good read for perhaps an escapist feel as the author does a great job of really bringing the community to life on the page.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is book five book in the Primrose Woods series. After reading this I am going to start at the beginning to get connected more with the characters. This story centers on Sophie. She has set her sights on starting over and she is getting help from Tom. They seem to fit together in ways neither thought about and each of them is helping the other. This is a great beach read book and I am so glad I read it. The author has a knack for making the reader care about the people in her books. Thank you NetGalley, Jill Steeples and Boldwood Books. This is my personal review.
Primrose Hall by Jill Steeples is a heartwarming addition to the series, focusing on Jackson’s brother Tom as he strives to prove himself by managing the Sunday craft sales at Primrose Hall. There, he meets Sophie, who’s rebuilding her life after a controlling marriage, and their tentative friendship blossoms into something more. When tragedy strikes, Tom steps up to support Jackson’s fiancée Pia, strengthening his bond with his brother and proving his wort Sweet , family story. Overall 3.5 stars
I enjoyed the craft fair. Some parts of the story seemed too perfect, like everything just fit together. The pace felt OK, but it sometimes lagged. I preferred The Dog and Duck series overall.
Thanks to Jill Steeples and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
A quick read. I didn't enjoy as much as the first, but still a good overall story. I would recommend reading the first in the series first, though it stands fine on its own.
Full disclosure - I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Thank you to @theboldbookclub for letting me read this book. It’s the 5th in the series and I believe you need to read the others first so you’ve got the characters and some of their story as it is still unravelling. A good book to snuggle down with and it is a good light read.
I really enjoyed this book, the sixth in this series. It was lovely catching up with the characters in the previous books. Pos had a lot on her mind in this book but everything worked out perfect in the end.
