I read this book quite a few years ago, and I remember one of the things I thought was somewhat of a plot fail, was the forced vaccinations that happened in this book. And I remember thinking to myself, she should have placed the story in Europe, because mandated vaccinations would never happen here.
Anyway, now you know why I started thinking about the book again.

I really enjoyed this book as a high school student, but I also really enjoyed high school poetry as a high school student. It seems a fair comparison - both can have raw talent that would lead somewhere promising, with increased training.

The plot is the driving force of the book; Alyssa herself seems an empty character that things happen to. I finished reading still uncertain of what she is really like. The book deals with the difficult conditions that exist in a future, degenerate society, but it does so in as sanitized way as it can.

i enjoy reading about what possibly could be the future. not sci-fi but the way Linda Paulson Adams wrote this book and the sequel Refining Fire. There will be a third to this series. well I hope because she left the reader hanging...ahh I do not like that when authors do that. my daughter Lara talked me into reading this book...I was hooked by the first chapter. I also was lucky to meet Linda Adams twice. She is quite a character full of talent.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written with a great plot. The author managed to communicate a future time period without going too far (you know, to where you can't even understand the futuristic technology). Also, the conversion of the main character was believable and natural, really underlining the goodness of her life pre-conversion.

I really enjoyed this book. It made me stop and think about where our world is headed. It was interesting to see Linda's perspective on what the last days are going to look like. I love it when you can't put a book down. I wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen to Alyssa and Peter. If you like LDS fiction I would definitely recommend this book!

This is my favorite book I have ever read. The author didn't seem to get a lot of fans from this book but every person I passed it on to loved it but I think it might even be out of print. If you can find it anywhere it is so worth reading.

This is really good LDS Fiction. It takes you through the very Last Days and what it might be like in the US when religious freedom has been abolished and the world is filled with iniquity. Be warned: it goes into some heavy subject matter, but it does manage to stay pretty clean.

This is an interesting fictional, futuristic look into living the gospel in the future. I liked it enough to get the sequel when it came out.

Prodigal Journey was a very good book. Alyssa, the main character, is very relateable and you feel and understand her joys, her sorrows and her trials. I am excited to read the second one.

One of the most interesting pieces of LDS fiction I've read. Unfortunately, it was poorly edited and, I think, the title is off-putting (too melodramatic). But a fascinating read.
