A slice of life type of story, wherein the author gives us some great detail in the daily lives of our protagonists which is very true to the period. More telling than showing, though there are some good scenes of relationship development and the emotional arc defines the storyline. I look forward to the progress of the author in honing their craft of writing and finding out how to make the story come alive.

This book was one of the regency romances I truly enjoyed. As a young girl, I enjoyed Victoria Holt and this story brought back memories of that style. Kudos to the author for capturing that era in a book. I had to look up a few of the old-fashioned words, but this book was a refreshing delight. I recommend you pick up a copy.

Historic romance

A solid historical romance. There is a mild plot of an aristocrat being asked to do a bit of spy work for the government but its very much a B-plot to the romance. However, there is no real drama or tension in the romance plot. It's very straightforward and HEA.
