Cries from the Deep

Journalist, Holly Webb is inadvertently drawn into a world of corruption and murder after being approached by marine biologist, Fay McAllister. The student claims that a professor friend of hers was murdered, after he threatened to disclose the discovery of a blue marine creature. Could LFAS, (Low Frequency Active Sonar) operated by governments and energy companies worldwide be responsible for the increase in marine mammal beaching? Holly discovers the presence of a powerful organisation of wealthy investors, who understand the threat to their monopoly if the public demand the cessation of underwater operations. If a new species of humanoid were discovered, then mankind would no doubt intensify their protests. La Fraternite, a security company, consisting of ex-French Legionnaires is employed to ensure that Holly and Fay do not approach the media with their story. Jan Lubinski is assigned to tail the girls and to do anything he can to dissuade them, including murder. The conclusion will not disappoint.

I am an author and live in the north east of England. After working thirty-two years as a steelworker, I retired early to concentrate on writing. I have been writing approximately eighteen years and have written and published thirty-four novels and over fifty short stories. My main genre is psychological thrillers and horror, but I have published a biography of a late friend and a war novel concerning the Holocaust.
My impatience with the mainstream publishers and my former publishers folding prompted me to self publish. i have rewritten and republished my books with KDP in 2022 and 2023. When purchasing, I would advise the latter editions. I appreciate all feedback. Thank you.

This is the story about the alleged discovery of a mysterious marine creature, like a mermaid, that gets washed up on a shore in Scotland among a pod of beached whales. Somebody is determined to keep the identity of this creature a secret even though some witnesses have already seen it.

The cause of the fate of the whales is believed to be sonar instruments in deep sea drilling, threatening the welfare of the wildlife and possibly marine fauna that haven't been discovered yet. Characters Holly, the journalist, and Faye, a recent graduate in marine biology, are determined to expose the environmental exploitation. Did anyone really see an unidentified living creature that looked like a mermaid before it was quickly removed?

The characters in this book are about to learn that maybe some mysteries are better left unsolved as they try and uncover the brutal truth about deep sea drilling, the powerful business people that they're messing with and the ultimate consequences that may come with it.

I enjoyed this book, there were a lot of unexpected twists and I loved how realistic a lot of the characters were. It also takes place in a lot of different locations which suited the situations. I thoroughly recommend it.

This book is a great example of a captivating forward. Grips you right away. Tickled me like the cool intros to some of the classic Godzilla films. It is also clear that the author did his homework by researching certain things about nautical history and government agencies to give this the necessary aspect of belief good fiction requires. Quality indie work.
