I'm pissed I don't have a double dong merman who wants to raise a brood of fry with me and has a water horse for me to love on. This was SO good. Jaxon is dreamy. I mean two dongs? Unique breeding. BETTA BUBBLES?! Like how cool. So unique. A hippocampus who is hilarious and precious in every way? SOLD. A strong FMC who holds her own but leans into her soft femininity with her mate. GIMME. The spice... mmmm the SPICE. This was WET. And hot. And everything in between. Salted caramel flavored, aphrodisiac, vibrating fluids anyone? Also underwater vampires? Like what? So cool You won't be bored reading this that's for sure! Thoroughly enjoyed this and absolutely loved Leah's writing style. Can't wait for the next one!

Shifter City, formerly Long Island, is a save heaven of sort for the shifter community. Dez, headhunted by the Mayor of Shifter City to help his project to expand the community, felt the pull to go out for a drink. Just as she’s about to leave, a man approaches her at the bar and in one night, life as she knows it changes.
Jaxon, a shifter not known by the humans or the shifter community, is up on surface level to find his mate. He recognizes her straightaway, but didn’t expect her to be human. It takes one look to know that Dez is not only his mate but also possesses shifter ancestry as well.
Jaxon and Dez leave the bar together due to the pull of being fated mates, but are attacked outside. When they finally escape danger, Dez is overcome with the feeling of needing to be bred.
Jaxon, has many secrets under his scales (two in particular 😉) and will shock Dez to her core.
This book had me hooked right away. Leah, did a wonderful job building the world of Shifter City. Dez was an amazing FMC. She was witty, strong but also had a sweet side when she was with Astero. But really, who wouldn’t. Jaxon made me melt. The way he cared for his mate and made his home ready for her and their children 🫠. I was left wanting more and cannot wait to learn what happens to Jaxon, Dez and their babies.

I dove into (get it?) the book without really knowing what was getting into. A mer-shifter, fated mate romance? Sign me up. BUT THIS BOOK WAS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!!!
I love when an FMC is strong-headed, opinionated, and is not swayed right away by the tall, dark, and handsome MMC. Desiree completely hit that boss babe, tough-as-nails attitude and I couldn’t get enough of it. And the way Jaxon sidled up to her at the bar?? This was insta-attraction but IMMEDIATELY HOT. The push and pull between them was delicious and I Ate. It. Up.
Plus, I was not prepared for all of the action! I’m here for the fighting and full-fledged ‘touch her and die’ in this story. And I love a protective MMC but love it more when the FMC jumps in to protect him. I’ll take more, please and thank you. And the spice was the cherry on top of all this goodness. Shifted spicy time? Check. Two?? Double-check. Mating bubbles that get the FMC ready for some feel-good adult fun times? I’m in.
Overall, this book was such a fun surprise with the amazing world-building blending seamlessly into the story, I absolutely loved it! I already miss the banter between Jaxon and Desiree. And the side characters,especially Astero - the hippocampus, perfectly complemented the MCs. I can’t WAIT to see what’s going to happen next on Shifter City.

What a fun spicy read! As my first Merman romance, I can say Hard Bubbles did not disappoint. It was funny, sweet and spicy! The world-building is nice and easy to understand, I loved all the details. Desiree and Jaxson are hot, hot, hot! I love their dynamic, had me saying ‘awe’ and ‘lol’ and ‘oh my’😳! Fated mates is one of my favorite tropes and love the side where one doesn't understand and tries to resist before finally giving in. It's just sooooo good! A little insta-lovey but I feel like that's a given with fated mates and one of the reasons I love the trope. Your girl needs a HEA. 🙃 I love a good possessive hero and I did not expect the beginning to be that stressful but it was so good! I think this a really great debut novel, I found it to be a quick fun read and I enjoyed the characters. Side and main, also I love a good animal sidekick and Astero is perfection. Who knew I needed a sassy hippocampus in my life? 🤣I'm very intrigued to see whose story Leah tells next and who gets to be our MMC. Low-key I want to see Brennev but I'll take anyone! 😆

This was pretty darn cute! I liked the flirtation and back-and-forth between Desiree & Jaxon when they first meet. The fated mate bond was handled well. There were a lot of very humorous parts that I found myself laughing out loud to. The best part is that his pet name for her is "My Pearl". So cute and very fitting!
I am absolutely intrigued by the mershifters and this world and want to read more. The end felt a little abrupt and do wish there had been slightly more happy downtime shown between the couple. This was a strong debut and will keep this author on my radar.

Dez is easy to like, and her feisty, take-charge attitude makes her a perfect match for Jaxon.
Jaxon is a dream and is ready to protect, defend, and breed his pretty mate. He had me in a puddle in the parking lot scene. 🥵 He also comes with Astero, his hippocampus, who insists on bringing Dez gifts (not great gifts, but the thought counts.)
The spicy times are plentiful and fun to read. Jaxon is packing double, so he will make Dez a very happy woman.

When I began reading Hard Bubbles, I became immediately captivated by Leah’s writing. It’s the type of writing that draws you in and immerses you so completely in the story that nothing else exists.
I fell hard for Jaxon and Desiree. Fated mates is one of my favorite tropes, and Jaxon’s inherent knowledge that Desiree is his mate paired with her resistance is delicious. Their passion is so intense I could feel it in my bones. Everything about their relationship is deeply satisfying.
The world-building is fantastic. I love the hints of human/shifter politics, and I especially love that while some shifters have made their presence known to humans, other species remain hidden. There are so many intriguing details that can be carried through into future books.
Astero, the Hippocampus, steals every scene he’s in. He’s like a lovable over-sized puppy and I can’t get enough of him.

I was absolutely delighted reading this and having the best time up until about halfway in when it starts to lose steam. The writing in the second half isn’t as tight and the editing isn’t as good. I started getting bored with parts of the story. Very disappointing considering how it began. I just wanted, and expected, more based on the first half. But it’s still enjoyable and extremely inventive. I do like the world the author created. There’s definitely talent here and I hope she writes more about this underwater world.

This is essentially porn written in a pretty bow of a fated-mates romance, boasting breeding kinks, a bubble nest, double penetration and plenty of spice. If you're wanting something spicy to read while turning your brain off, this is the book for you.

I should not be drawn in so much by books on Tik Tok
This book was ok - just - but it was lacking
It was total insta love but there did not feel like there was actually any romance or any warmth to the story.
It also seemed there should have been more word building, mentions of brothers, the King, Poseidon, weird mervampire creatures but that never really took off or developed any substance.
Also needs a good edit - one sentence for example read "Because if our kids do turn out to be anything like the two of us on top of inheriting my wild side and your pension for violence..." instead of penchant for violence.
It also ended really abruptly that I had to check if I had a weird copy that was missing a part of the book.
A just ok 2 stars.

Smashing Debut
This is a debut author guys can you believe it? It was so well written and polished that she has to have been publishing for years right?! Anyway, this story was original in that most shifter books are not about mermen. It was also action packed, funny and oh so steamy. I fell in love with Astero and want one of my own. Cannot wait to read more from this universe and this author.

A cute, fated mate, shifter romance
This is one of my first merman stories, and I really liked it. I love a good fated mate, shifter romance. This book had some unique aspects of the trope that I really enjoyed. So good! I couldn’t put it down! I love the storyline! Highly recommend ! I definitely want to read more books from this author. Hopefully, this is the first of many books about Shifter City.

An insta love read
A cute story about a human falling for a merman. Some spice in it. Good plot, but some areas could have been expanded on, while others could have been left out. In some parts while reading I was like "is it over yet?" While others I was wanting more description. A good read for getting out of a slump.

I think the author did a great job with world building. I honestly probably would’ve rated this book higher if it was longer with more detail and not as rushed. But outside of the hot romance part (I’m just not into breeding) I really enjoyed the story.

I'll be honest - I was lost for a bit haha I had no idea what I was reading but I know they enjoyed their spicy time lol. The characters were fun. The FMC wasn't a pushover and immediately jumped into let's go! mode. The MMC was immediately obsessed, certain parts had me rolling. His 🍆(s) are special! Looking forward to another outrageous story from Leah in this series.

Mermen are real!
This is an interesting take on shifter mates. I don't think I've ever read a book with a merman as the male lead character. I loved the beginning and middle of the story, it was exciting, intense and increasingly sensual. I was slightly triggered by the non-gill using deep sea swimming, i have been drowned in the past. This is an interesting take on shifter mates. I don't think I've ever read a book with a merman as the male lead character. I loved the beginning and middle of the story, it was exciting, intense and increasingly sensual. I was slightly triggered by the non-gill using deep sea swimming, i have been drowned in the past. Also, i was thrown off track at the breeding part, it seemed to go on forever, I actually skimmed over some of it. The author brought my interest back at the end, and that's what really counts.

I enjoyed this. It had a great plot, funny commentary, and definitely spicy scences. I like Desiree and how she is strong independent women but still vulnerable. I liked Jaxon who definitely your alpha male with some "special equipment". Enjoyed it but would have liked to have more from this couple and of course their animal friend.

This Insta-love story was just the quick read that I needed! My only wish was that there was a little bit more of watching their relationship bloom. But it was a great fast paced, spicy read!

Also shoutout to the amazing animal sidekick! Astero the hippocampus was such a cute addition to the story. Anyone else picture him as a small cute little half horse-fish and then realize he was probably more horse sized 😂😂

This book had everything you want in a book.
Great plot, steamy scenes, amazing characters, snarky banter, and everything in between.
The world building flows so seamlessly into the narrative it doesn't feel like world building at all.
I cannot praise this book enough. And I'm excited to see where this series goes, and what Leah brings us next!
