Die erste Kosmonautin
Nie wieder ins All. Das hat sich Mandy Neumann, die letzte Kosmonautin der DDR, geschworen, nachdem sie kurz nach dem 80. Geburtstag ihrer Republik der Todesfalle entkommen ist, in die sich die Raumstation "Völkerfreundschaft" verwandelt hatte. Aber die Gefahr, auf die Volkspolizei-Leutnant Tobias Wagner in einem Sperrgebiet in der Lausitz gestoßen ist, hat sich ausgebreitet – und sie droht, nicht nur die DDR zu zerstören, sondern die ganze Welt.
Wissenschaftler aus Osten wie Westen verzweifeln, denn es scheint keinerlei Abhilfe zu geben. Der einzige Ausweg besteht darin, die Entstehung der Anomalie gar nicht erst zuzulassen. Jemand muss dazu 1963 an Bord der russischen Wostok-6-Kapsel gehen. Im Jahre 2032 gibt es aber nur noch eine Person, die alle dafür nötigen Fähigkeiten besitzt – Mandy Neumann. Kann und darf sie die Aufgabe ablehnen, die Welt zu retten?

Der erste Band war mir nicht mehr ganz so präsent, doch während des Lesens kam immer mehr zurück. Trotzdem würde ich empfehlen, falls möglich, mit "Die letzte Kosmonautin" zu beginnen, da dort das ganze Konzept der DDR erklärt wird.
Dieses Buch ist ein spannender Zeitrause-Sci-Fi-Roman, wie immer mit Hard Sci-Fi-Anspruch. Vor allem das Ende fand ich eindrücklich, da hier ein Thema angesprochen wird, das zum Nachdenken animiert. Und Morris dazu, wahrscheinlich einen weiteren Teil in der Reihe zu schreiben.
Auch durfte ich ein wenig über die damalige Raumfahrt lernen. Das futuristische DDR-Setting hat etwas für sich. Ich konnte mir nicht alle Situationen im Weltraum vorstellen, aber das macht nichts. Rosa ging mir ab und an auf die Nerven, aber vielleicht ist ihr "Charakter" einfach so angelegt.
Bin mal gespannt, was Brandon Q. Morris als nächstes aus dem Ärmel schütteln wird.

Time travel to prevent the nothing!
The nothing is going to consume the Earth. To prevent this, Miriam wants to send Mandy back through time to prevent the experiment that led to the study that created the nothing. However, no one knows where Mandy is and so our old German friend Walter is recruited to help find her. Can Miriam be trusted or does she have an ulterior motive? Will her theory of how time travel can be achieved work? What consequences will there be?
An extremely high amount of energy, the nothing, an old car, 1963, an earring and a veal schnitzel all play a role in the achieving of time travel and ensuring its not a one-way trip for our intrepid time travellers, though there are two additions to the trip - one planned for and one not...
An intriguing tale of suspense, surprise, peril, paints an entertaining read with a twist of epic proportions.....
