Darling Adams is a naughty author who loves writing about hot alpha males, Dominance/submission and power exchanges. She also writes spanking romance under the name Renee Rose.
Revenge is a dish best served on a hot spanked ass. In Punishing Portia, Chef David Marone is shocked when he sees Portia Sands at a BDSM retreat as a submissive. Portia is a food critic who attacked him personally instead of just reviewing his food. David recalls Portia from when they went to school together and he can't fathom why she has it in for him. After some venting, he laughs it off and gets ready for his annual kinky vacation. When David finds Portia at his yearly kinky retreat, auctioning herself off as a submissive, it is time to dish up his revenge.
The characters in this story are engaging and easy to like. Even Portia with her spiteful attitude towards David is understandable if a bit unprofessional and immature. David is the antithesis of famous chef Gordon Ramsey when it comes to working with people. David is kind, supportive and a general all around nice guy. It's a pleasure to read a BDSM story where the characters are not mentally disturbed or riddled with past trauma. Instead, these are regular people with regular jobs who have fun with D/s and spankings.
The kinky retreat is GlitterKink sparkly. I live very close to Ohio, where is this castle? How do I get hooked up to go to this place? Probably out of my means, but still, pretty alluring. The BDSM in this story is closer to domestic discipline which is to be expected from Ms. Rose. It's a lovely kinky time with some modified pet-play. The story is sensual and believable from start to finish. The pet-play is well done in this one and enjoyable for those just learning about how pet-play dynamic can work.
The story is tightly writing and easy to read through. There are no complicated contrived miscommunications. It’s two people who are seemingly enemies coming together to be something more. This kinky romance is recommended to readers who enjoy enemies to lovers theme with a good dose of spanking involved.
I read Punishing Portia as part of When The Gavel Falls, and have reviewed it as part of the book bundle. However, since I bought the bundle largely for this story and it was my favorite of the group (4 and a half stars), I thought it deserved an individual review as well.
Darling Adams (aka Renee Rose) writes delightful spanking stories and this one was one of my favorites. I could relate to Portia, although she wasn't always very likeable. She is an uptight perfectionist trying to hold onto control while she wants desperately to let it go... I recognize this all too well.
At first David made me very uncomfortable, because he was punishing Portia in order to get back at her for an admittedly nasty review of his restaurant. His behavior didn't feel controlled and his punishments over the top at first. However, the fight Portia had with herself over using her safeword and the fear she felt when she realized that David did recognize her were very well written. I personally wanted her to safeword because David was pretty arrogant about never having a sub safeword on him.... but it all worked out okay in the end.
Ooh I loved this enemies-to-lovers romance dashed with a bit of humiliation and revenge. When the man she reamed in a food critique recognizes her at the slave charity auction, he will stop at nothing to possess her and punish her for her misdeeds. Forced to act as his pet, will Portia be able to come clean about what caused her to lash out?
I found the story so sweet, even with all the spankings and punishments, these two were perfect! Yes, this is what I have become in my reading, a story with strong corporeal punishment, seems extremely and utterly, a devoted love story
These two are people outside of their BDSM lives, and those people are acquainted, and not well. Inside their BDSM lives, they find they are excellent and amazing together. Once they reconcile their outside lives with their inside lives, they are magic together
The story was well written and engaging but there were a few parts that killed it for me: -one is the idea that only those who "do" can criticize or comment. That's just complete and utter BS. IF that's truely the case, we need to get rid of damn near EVERYONE who is a critic or talking head. WHich means Goodbye ESPN. *rolls eyes*
- two is the reason the two don't like each other. Holy Molehills, Batman!
This was excellent. I have to say, I like the idea of being 'sold' in this novel much more than I did in the other I read. A charity auction is a kink I've seen quite a bit of and I had no problem with it in this novel. I have to say I have seen the chief and critic trope before in a BDSM novel but it was still very well put together. I wish it was a bit longer, sitting at only 117 pages I feel like it could have been easily made into a full length novel and been just as good.
The characters had obvious chemistry and the play was nice. The only reason I've taken a star off is because of one scene. I hate it when things like that happen in a novel, especially one that had so much potential and consent in it previously. If it had been an abusive relationship I'd have given a pass because that's how it plays out, alas it was not. This is a big issue and seeing it in a novel was horrible because it's never acceptable in a consenting position, whether it be in real life or fiction. If that had not happened I'd have easily given this novella a 5 star rating.
A story of revenge that ends up a dream come true for both. This is a chefs story with BDSM holiday dreams.... He buys her in an auction intending to punish her for a review she did about him as a chef. The punishments lead him to realize she is exactly what he wants in a partner. She also begins to fall in love and she especially enjoys his punishment and cooking with him. Its a good story. Only one kinda ironic thing in a previous Masters of the Castle story the Dungeon is described very differently.... In this its a long room with lots of stations, but in others its been more like private cells with various equipment in each one... I am guessing the Dungeon must have one huge common cell... Not mentioned before.
Received in exchange for an honest review from BDSMReviews.com. *Spoilers* Portia Sands gives David Marone a scathing restaurant review and ends up being purchased at auction by David. I felt a lot of concern and tension at the thought of him acquiring her with the sole intention of punishing her for her review but the author quickly reveals these two have a past history and a lot of chemistry. There's pet play, lots of spanking, even another male's participation. There are no surprises here, the story is predictable but very enjoyable.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I read this not looking at who wrote it, then realized who the author was. I love Renee Rose. This story pushed my limits as a reader, I had never read anything before about pain subs; and it pushed Portia's limits as a submissive. This was also a story of Love. Will I be willing to read anymore stories about pain subs? Probably not, unless they written by this author. Another awesome story to add to the Masters of this Castle series.
A scathing restaurant review by food critic Portia upon him personally angers Chef and restaurant owner David. Winning Portia ( Kitty) at the Castle auction, David will get his satisfaction and answers. No cliffhanger and hea.
Au moins la c’est du consentement à 100%! Je n’avais encore jamais lu de bdsm comme ça mais j’ai bien aimé le couple, surtout le fait qu’ils se connaissaient déjà et qu’ils se retrouvent en mode ennemi to lover!
Punishing Portia is part of the Masters of the Castle series by Darling Adams. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.
David Marone is the owner of head chef of a well-known restaurant in town. When he visited by a well-known, and respected food critic, the review that follows leaves him very upset and mad. David is set to go on vacation to the Castle during New Years and when he see Portia, he decides a little punishment for the review is in order.
Portia Sands is a well-known food critic. She goes to the castle to be part of the slave auction to get a better feel for BDSM and because she could not afford the regular entry price. Portia comes across as a woman who is just finding herself but still unsure of what she can do.
The connection between Portia and David is blistering. They make a great pair together because no matter how much David pushed her limits she enjoyed every second. When David pushes her past her limits, he is quick to apologize and make things right. The sex scenes were explosive.
I found this book well written with an interesting plot. The main characters and the secondary characters were fascinating. While the ending was a little predictable, the journey the book takes the reader is gripping with several unanticipated twists and turns. I had a hard time putting this book down. Overall, this was a very captivating book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
David is the owner and chef of a restaurant. Portia is a food critic and she has written a scathing article about his newest restaurant. David is angry about the article as he doesn’t think that it is deserved. Portia has her reasons for writing these criticisms of David’s food. They aren’t quite fair, but she does have her reasons. Anyways, both she and David decide to participate in the slave auction, though they don’t know the other is going to be there until the day of the auction. When David sees her, he decides he is going to purchase her. David does purchase her and he decides that he is going to exact revenge for the review. He has her dressed as a pet and gives her a tail (yes!). Then he proceeds to punish her. Eventually they work through things and there is HEA, but it is quite a journey on the way there. I do think that the ending was a little rushed but it was a very satisfying story. I give this story 4 stars.
This is the first book I have read by Darling Adams and I enjoyed it. The book is part of a boxed set, but can be purchased separately. The set contains books by different authors, but all have a common theme of dom/subs going to a mythical castle located in Ohio to act out their fantasies. This castle has everything, including a well equipped dungeon for the guests to use. I would rate this book 4 1/2 stars, rounded to 5.
This was the perfect book for me. It is hot with an interesting story-line. The synopsis tells you the friction that sets up between the dom/sub and the payback that unfolds makes for wonderful reading. I like the way the author balanced the story with the numerous sex scenes. And boy were the sex scenes hot and well described. I like when the sub is made to endure some humiliation with her punishments and this book gets 5+ stars on this front. Can you say a little pet play with tail, cage and leash? How about an auction, spankings, and bondage...oh my! My inner-sub made my kitty purr. (Sorry couldn't resist.) A short book, but not short on being a fun read.
Revenge is a Dish Best Not Served Chef David Dean Marone has decided to treat himself to a short visit to The Castle to play but was not aware of the Celebrity Slave Auction until he arrives. Food Critic for Windy City Eats, Portia Sands, has gone with her friend Tina to be Submissives for the Charity Auction. Both see each other and she hopes he won't remember her, good luck with that one! What happens when a snippy food critic leaves a very nasty review for Chef David? How about buying that naughty girl and giving her a nice taste of humiliation that she has signed a waiver agreeing to. Master D has his ways of dulling the claws on Kitty during their time together.
Wow! Punishing Portia was such a good book! This book had all the amazing signs of a good book and followed through with it! I loved the true journey that these two went on to find themselves. There is true love to be found in this incredible story. Although, this was a very beginner bdsm story don't let that fool you! It has some lovely rope play, pet play and lots of yummy spankings.I loved how even though Master D was 'angry' he still was a perfect Dom and pushed her to her limits and helped her to fly. He knew just what to do and how to act to help her become the best she could be. This was a great sexy book that I highly recommend.
This review is from: Punishing Portia (Masters of the Castle) (Kindle Edition) A food critic who does a bad review on David's restaurant goes castle to have some fun and contribute to the cancer fund in remembrance of one of the founders, Master Don who passes away due to cancer. To Portia's horror, she is bought by David. It's turns out surprising that they both have fun with each other and there are some funny scenes. How does it end? Read the book to find out. Darling Adams is a gifted writer and brings the story to life.
Wow, this book was so deliciously hot and sexy and steamy. If you enjoy a BDSM tale with a handsome, arrogant and strong alpha Dom and a beautiful, intelligent and somewhat gentle submissive and like to read about spanking and all sorts of kinky things and you love a HEA - read this, steamy hot and wonderfully fulfilling story!!!!
I have to say Portia got lucky in this story. After she writes a horrible review, and is purchased at the auction by the injured party, she ends up exactly where she was always meant to be. Their journey was a fun ride! I read this in the box set released in January 2015.
If You can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen! Portia's review ripped David's restaurant apart. He gets his chance at revenge when he buys his "kitty" in a slave auction. the discipline scenes are some of the hottest I've ever read!
