It was fine. Liked a lot of the letters. Didn't like some of the letters. Some felt repetitive. Overall, an interesting read.

Comments:
This book is very straightforward as in letter format (2-4 pages) and I had a highlight on most pages. I think his advice is still applicable 100 years later which demonstrates we humans don't change all that much :) This is in my top 10 and will actively be recommending to my friends!

My rating system is as follows:
1 - Stopped reading before completing as didn't intrigue me enough (therefore rating incomplete)
2 - Completed reading but did not enjoy
3 - Enjoyed but not enough to want to keep on bookshelf
4 - Enjoyed and want to keep on bookshelf
5 - I'm actively telling people how great this book is!

Written in the early 1909s but still applicable to today’s world. It was a simpler time back then, prior to the technological revolution. It’s nice to read one letter each day or week and ponder the message. Not a book you binge.

The material in the book is valuable. It’s a shame that these weren’t Rockefeller actually letters or words. The author should have presented this honestly, which would have made for a better book, since they seem to have some good insights to share.

So good, and most of the lessons continue to apply today. A book to reread again and gives me a window into JDR. Probably should read the Ron Chernow book next/soon.

Solid wisdom about wealth, interpersonal relationships, purpose, and more. Didn't agree with all the letters but most were sound. Many typos and errors 💀

A very wise businessman who was way ahead of his time. The world probably will not see another businessman like him.

Interesting read, to me it was more of a personality building document rather than coming from heart.

The contents are banal. Apparently there's some controversy as to if the contents are even authentic and the circumstances under which they were compiled and published.

Me: He was such a smart man! It’s amazing how much his perspective, ideology and wisdom from the early 1900s could be still be used today.

I listened.

I’ve loved Rockefeller since reading Titan, and this collection of letters to his son was wonderful. They showed his strength, his faith in God and his love for people. Such a great man.

Probably the American capitalist/religious temperance origin. Secular thought with religious fluff. Some actual wisdom here though.

Edit: It’s reported that this book is not actually written by Mr. Rockefeller. Just a heads up.
