Blood Play: Eve Townsend - Serial Killer Hunter: Book 2

Rate this book
Ten years ago, when Eve Townsend was seventeen years old, Tightrope killed her family and took her younger sister, Maddie. Eve was left alive - the only survivor. After inheriting her family's fortune, Eve has dedicated her life to hunting down Tightrope, training her body and mind, honing her skills, using every resource at her disposal to track down Tightrope ... and others like him.

Tightrope has left clues for Eve to follow, clues he promises will bring her closer to him, closer to the truth about what happened to her younger sister. But those clues also lead Eve to other serial killers, other monsters that need to be stopped.

The latest clue brings Eve to Cleveland, Ohio. A second body has been found; the woman's blood drained from two puncture wounds in her neck. The media has dubbed the killer "the Vampire." With local police and the FBI working against Eve, she must delve deep into a dark world of underground BDSM clubs - the Vampire's hunting ground.

Another body has been found, and another young woman has been taken. Time is running out. Eve desperately wants to stop the Vampire and save the newest victim, but she also knows the Vampire holds the next clue in her search for Tightrope.

Interesting follow-up

Great 2nd novel in the series. Eve is a force to be reckoned with. She made me nervous taking all these crazy chances and then getting caught up in a diabolical game of who done it. She was after the Vampire but Tightrope sent her there. In a web between the two serial killers and trying to figure out what is their connection. Then the FBI enters into play but whose side are they on? Tied into the seedy underworld of BDSM Eve has stepped into a conundrum of mass proportions. Again sometimes her choices were reckless but she got the job done. Or did she and will she ever find the truth about her sister. I can't wait until the next chapter.

50 Shades of Gray meets serial killer fan fiction

Oof, this one was rough to get through. Way too many paragraphs repeating the same questions. There's multiple paragraphs where Eve is mentally questioning things over and over, or asking similar question. There are too many and long dream sequences. Large portions of the book are just repeating things that have already happened. One paragraph had 6 questions. Eve gives her entire life story to an Uber driver, which is way too long and unnecessary. Too much filler that can be cut out. Listing every single action while driving, eating, etc is just bloating the book. This should've been half the length but the author put in a ton of stuff that didn't need to be there in order to get the book to a full length novel. There's the bones of a good story here but it's all messed up. Like the author read a detective story and watched 50 shades of gray and thought he could mix the two. Eve wakes up at six, drinks some water, then the next sentence says it's after six. Just an absolute waste of space and sentences. In the last few minutes of the book things finally get interesting. Eve catches the serial killer and figures out there's a network of them. She then makes a bunch of revelations that come out of nowhere and have the appearances of a big shocking reveal but most of them are dumb or come out of nowhere. I really hope the third book answers all of these questions I have but it's looking like this series will be like Lost, too many questions and not enough answers

I told y’all before how one night I was just doing a book search on Amazon and found Tightrope: Eve Townsend - Serial Killer Hunter Book 1 by Mark Lukens. I just read book 2 and I loved it too! Now I have to wait for book 3. 😩 I could not and did not want to put this book down either but the holidays and family made me. 😂

Much like the first one, I was on the edge of my bed and it was a constant thrill ride. Pieces of the puzzle that began in book 1 were added during book 2. I’m dying to read the 3rd one and see if some of my questions are answered. The thrills and chills were definitely continued in this one. You don’t know who to trust.

If you like Silence or the lambs, then these books are for you! It is easily one of the best series (top 3) I’ve read this year! Run and get a copy! It’s on KU as well! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I won’t leave the synopsis here in case it gives something away in book 1.

Happy reading, y’all! 📚❤️📚

This is a good solid sequel to the excellent Tightrope. Eve Townsend returns to fight the good fight against a network of serial killers. It's pacy, well written and although Eve is a too good to be true character she is likeable. The story centres around the seedy world of BDSM as she uses the clue set by the mysterious Tightrope to track down the killer. This is not as gruesome as the first book but it's still an interesting read and I like the way the author is running the original Townsend killer story through this and I presume subsequent books. This is shaping up to be a very good series

Blood Play

I would give this book a 7/10… it was not as interesting as the first book. I felt like it was moving a bit slower than the first one. I wish tightrope would have sent her more emails.

Great series

Eve and Jarvon are the 2 I fell in love with. I had hoped Jarvis would go with Eve but didn’t happen. Eve on to the next psycho and finding her sister!!
