An ECPA Christy Award winner and an ACFW Carol Award winner, Joanne Bischof DeWitt writes deeply layered fiction that tugs at the reader’s heartstrings. Joanne’s 2016 novel, THE LADY AND THE LIONHEART, received an extraordinary 5 Star TOP PICK! from Romantic Times Book Reviews among other critical acclaim.
I really loved this duology🥹 I wish I would have read them when I was single, because it would have been so inspiring to read then. But my single years were recent enough that I still remember my thought processes/feelings/emotions, and I felt really connected with Sadie and her experiences. Highly recommend — to the singles out there and even the ones in relationships. Joanne writes beautiful stories and this one did not disappoint. I went in not knowing a thing about it and I’m really glad I didn’t because I may not have picked them up since I’m in a different season.
In "Writer on the Wall," Joanne Bischof combines small town vibes, a relatable heroine, themes of faith and friendship, and contemplative prose into a narrative that's singular in its portrayal of singleness.
Unlike many works of fiction, on page or screen, this novel makes single women feel seen and celebrated, rather than ignored or pitied. The heroine Sadie is not a stereotype, but a friend, encouraging readers to embrace the adventures of everyday life with bravery and with community.
If you're looking for a relaxing read, where the single heroine stays single, “Writer on the Wall” is sure to be your cup of tea!
A Suddenly Sadie Adventure Series Writer on the Wall (Book 2) Sadie on the Rocks (Book 1)
This was such a good book!! I absolutely loved Sadie on the Rocks when I read it last year and was wondering if Writer on the Wall would be as good. It definitely was! I love both so much and they are so relatable. I do hope there will be more books about Sadie!
I adored seeing Sadie embracing herself in the first book from Joanne Bischof's Suddenly Sadie series and was excited to have the opportunity to read the second installment, Writer on the Wall. It was great catching up to see where she was now and what she was up to. I love how she was tested and witnessing how she was able to overcome her fears and challenges she faced. I was inspired and gave me a wonderful reminder that God is always there for me. I would love to give Writer on the Wall one hundred stars if I could. I believe readers and fans of clean contemporary woman's fiction will not want to miss reading it. I am hoping there be more Sadie adventure to come from the Suddenly Sadie series. I received a digital copy of Joanne Bischof's Writer on the Wall from the publisher, but was not required to write a review, nor a positive one. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Sadie is making some steps forward in her life. At 32 and single, she's learning to be content while still being open to new things and being happy with following God's plan for her life. She wants to be married but is working on not having finding a man be her single focus (or a focus at all though she's open to it). I think it would be quite helpful to first read Sadie on the Rocks to understand Writer on the Wall, since this book is about the writing of Sadie on the Rocks. This book is full of nuggets of wisdom that are applicable to anyone, not just single, 30ish women. I liked the character Rhonda and the encouragement and understanding she gave Sadie. This is not a romance, but because I always love reading a good romance, I can hope that Sadie will sometime be the bride, not just the bridesmaid. In the meantime, I hope she keeps following God on her unique path in life. I enjoyed this book very much.
“They say the main character in every story believes something untrue about themselves. If I were the heroine in a novel, would I believe a lie or my own making? It’s hard to say when what we think feels true” (p. 1)
In the second book in “A Suddenly Sadie Adventure” series, our main character continues step out of her comfort zone to try something new. In the first book we got to fall her as she explored rock climbing. In this new adventure Sadie is diving into writing a novel based on her experiences.
I really like Sadie’s character because she puts herself out there and tries new things while having such a good attitude about it all. I love how she forms friendships along the way and how she encourages and celebrates those friends.
I enjoyed her newest adventure in writing and how she continues to grow in her rock climbing hobby. This was an inspirational story of friendship, faith, and overcoming obstacles.
Awww this book was soooooo good! Equally as good as the first book in the series, Sadie on the Rocks : A Suddenly Sadie Adventure, #1. I love Bischof's writing style and that the protagonist is a single gal--and that it's not immediately about a single gal finding romance, lol. Bischof does a great job at exploring the challenges single women face, when their stories don't go the "normal way," and how they can and do still thrive and grow.
Writer on the Wall is the second Suddenly Sadie Adventure book. In order to get the full “Sadie” experience, you should read the first book in the series, Sadie on the Rocks first. This book continues Sadie’s adventures into enjoying and enriching her life while being single. I loved how she gains new friends, activities, and hobbies while challenging and strengthening herself. Talented author Joanne Bischof has written a very encouraging and enabling series that is creative and embraces all women, no matter what their circumstances are.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This was a sweet, wholesome, and feel-good read. I loved it so much! It was exactly what I needed. It was so inspiring and uplifting.
Sadie is relatable and easy to root for. I love that she’s forging her own path, trying new things, and conquering old fears. I was so excited for her. It felt like I was listening to an old friend tell me her story.
It was so nice to read about women supporting other women instead of tearing each other down, especially considering everything going on in the world right now.
This series is not to be missed. Be sure to start with book one. You’ll be hooked and cheering for Sadie as well.
Ever since Sadie McGillis trained for her first rock climb, she has been addicted to rock climbing. Is it now time to up her game and try something more difficult in rock climbing? Will Sawyer her trainer be able to help her overcome her fear of belaying or climbing with a rope on a more difficult climb? As a 32 year old single woman who is still wishing for the right man to come into her life, will this be the sport that leads her to the perfect man?
This book is a celebration of young, single Christian women who can find fulfillment in their lives while waiting for the right man to walk into their lives.
Once again, Sadie is giving me bravery to conquer my fears and try to live my life to the fullest 💕
Something I really love about these books is that yes, it’s about a single gal with no romantic plotline, but that doesn’t mean it’s void of romance. Sadie still notices a cute guy, and she even deals with a small crush! But it’s all part of her journey of letting God have control and continues on her quest for joy as a single woman.
I just love that so much 😆
(And as a side note, I have my eye on a few writer’s conferences for this year, albeit online 👀 I still need to go rock climbing though…)
Sadie's story as a writer, her subject is singleness and character development of the author who meets Corinne who has a disability but is also writing a story of giants in her life. (This hasn't motivated my long-term singleness however.)
Joanne's stories are interesting to read (different than most) and I have read her novels and her new books are on my to buy list.
I'm happy to know Joanne's personal life has now a husband/partner on her next steps in the journey to the kingdom.
I had the honor of beta reading most of this last winter, and it was amazing to finally hold the physical book in my hands!
This story is so sweet and fun, I love Sadie, and Brooke, and Corrine. The writer's conference scenes were so cool to see in a book, and as a climber, I loved all the climbing scenes too!
This is the perfect book to spend a cozy afternoon with (you'll want to have hot chocolate ready ;) -- and this and the first book in the series would make great gifts as we come up on the holidays.
If you love cozy books, bookstore, rock climbing, writing, great friendships, the barest hint of romance, a protagonist whose Christian faith is real and not overdone, and stories to encourage you to live your own adventures -- then this is the series for you.
I enjoyed the first "sadie" book so much and was excited to get to read this second part of the story. It was so entertaining! Sadie is endearing and relateable. Her journey as an aspiring writer is the premise of this story, and the author does a great job taking the reader along on Sadie's adventures. Loved it!
You definitely want to read the first book, Suddenly Sadie, before this one. I enjoyed this one as well as the first one. The pace is just right for a contemplative, introspective journey of facing fears, growing in many ways, and trusting God and friends. It's a nice change from books that are full of tension, suspense, and fast-paced adventure.
I just love how this series highlights that it is ok to be single, of to enjoy life while waiting for God to do what He does best. And man oh man at all of the climbing stuff! I did not start rock climbing until I was 40 and the way Sadie describes her feelings about it is exactly how I feel about it!
Wonderful story! The 2nd part of Sadie's story. Her adventure continues as she challenges herself in deeper ways, including delving into her writing career. Sadie is relateable and loveable as she embraces life. 5 stars
