Boss From Hell

Lillian

There’s no two ways about it. Maximus Frost is devastatingly gorgeous.

There is no other way to describe him, but sex on a stick!

He’s got everything going for him. Ice-gray eyes, chiselled features, strong jawline, lips made for kissing, and the kind of thick glossy hair that makes your fingers itch to run through it. And let me not get started on his body. Oh my, dreams are made of this…

But all that doesn’t stop me from wanting to punch his handsome face in.

Grrrrrr…. He makes me so freaking angry, I feel my blood boiling in my veins. The man is impossible. It is as if the horrible man takes an extra special delight in making my life difficult. To be fair to Maggie, the owner of Angel Recruitment Agency, she did warn me. She said he is such an ogre even her best girls had not lasted a full month. But the salary was amazing, and I’ve worked with difficult bosses before and been fine. Also, I thought she might be exaggerating a bit, so I decided to go for it. In fact, I was so stupidly sure I could handle him I ended up taking a bet with her that I would easily last a month. And now she keeps calling me and gloating as if she’s already won.

I can’t let her win. No matter what, I’m going to stick it out and win my bet. Then he goes and kisses me… oh, oh… what now?

A full length standalone CEO/Office romance.

Seriously! How does this book have such a high rating?! Was going to stop at 14%. FORCED myself to 24% before I couldn't take it any more. She walks in the door and you get hard?? She masturbates on her boss' bed? Are you kidding me? Could we please have a little more story maybe? A little more character development other than horny teenager? Just a little? Did you pay people for the ratings? It's the only way it makes sense.

This was pretty boring. The mmc was the boss from hell— but for some reason he seemed like a cardboard cut out. One minute He’s spewing hate and venom and the next moment bite they are having a sexfest. These two both have a serious case of BBS. To add a little something besides sexy times we have the underlying thread of conflict of the H suspecting the h of corporate espionage. This one fell flat to me.

It’s very rare when I don’t finish a book. The reviews were good, and I knew the main character was going to be a jerk. That being said, I just could not get through more than the first few chapters. I don’t care how hot a guy is, if he is an ass@$&, then I am not gonna find him attractive. His inside is just way too ugly to compare to the outside.
Then you have the female main character. She continues to let this man treat her like dirt because she needs the money. There are too many other jobs out there then to let somebody continually treat you poorly. Also, what she does when she goes to pick up his dirty laundry at his house is just not believable, maybe this book could’ve gotten better, but I just couldn’t stomach what I had already read. The author has good reviews so I may try another book by her. This one was just not my cup of tea.

Needing a job, Lillian takes a bit of a dare from her best friend and offers to work for Maximus Frost. Max has a reputation of being extremely difficult to work with and his high rate turnover on assistants makes it difficult to find one who will work with him. One month is all Lillian has to give to the job and it is clear Max is going to be a challenge.

Max wants Lillian gone initially but she doesn't crack under pressure. Max finds himself intrigued and Lillian is a straight shooter which he appreciates which is why he takes her to dinner, with his mom. It doesn't matter that his mother thinks she is his girlfriend, it takes the pressure off him to talk. Lillian though gives him an earful and Max finds himself liking all things Lillian. He is attracted to her and the feeling is mutual. Max isn't planning to let Lillian go, but it is not going to be an easy journey and there is one person who wants them apart.

Great story. It was like reading a chess match with a battle of the wills between Max and Lillian. You are pulled right into the story, I had a hard time putting this one down wanting to see where the story would go. Will be reading more from this author.

I’m not sure how I feel…

I had a hard time rating this one. Either a 3.5 or a 4. Story wise, it was really hard to like the hero. Like I get it, he thought she might be the mole, but his hot and cold was rough and there was one scene where he basically was so filled with rage that he went way beyond her sp@nking limits and it was just like…ok. I feel like he needed to feel bad about that. There was a decent grovel at the end and he was more likeable when he found out it wasn’t her.

Lots of smex scenes but a lot of them left me feeling cold because how he would treat her afterwards.

Formatting wise, it’s really really annoying when authors put several YouTube links in their books at the start of chapters and you read on a paper white so you have no way to look at them. I went out of my way to eventually pull them up and they honestly could have been left out. They didn’t really add anything to the story.

Won’t be on my reread shelf.

Average.

I’m struggling to find the right words because this book was just… average. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t particularly great either. The plot had potential but lacked enough intrigue to really draw me in. At times, the characters frustrated me, which didn’t help. I ended up skimming toward the end because I was ready to be done with it. That said, it wasn’t bad enough for me to give up entirely—it just didn’t leave much of an impression.

I enjoyed "Boss from Hell" because of the plot and the characters. Lillian and Maximus had real life good and bad traits and it was great reading as they worked through them to make the relationship evolve. You will enjoy the happily ever after ending!!.

The blurb made this book sound SO good. And that cover 🤤 but that’s all this books got. A good sounding blurb and a delicious cover. Otherwise it was seriously lacking and poorly done. The hero thinks of nothing but s*x. Seriously. Doesn’t matter that he’s supposedly the billionaire CEO of some investment firm or whatever… nothing else to think about but his new PA and whatever he wants to do to her. 🙄

The heroine is so friggin annoying. She goes to the hero’s house to pickup his dirty laundry and she realizes he’s asked her to do so just to get her riled up. Her revenge? She decides to strip naked, get on his bed, knowing there will be cameras everywhere and masturbate. And the author says that this is the equivalent of a waitress spitting in someone’s food…… sorry, what???

I love office romance. I love cheesy stories with billionaires. I love bickering MCs. And I love pranks/funny revenge attempts. This ticked a lot of boxes - in theory. But it fell way short. Too short for me to keep going. That’s a DNF at 20%. What a waste of precious time!

I have very mixed feelings about this book..it's almost like it was two different books with two different characters. Honestly I amost DNF'd this one about 40 something percent in. Glad I stuck with it, because the second half was much better. The characters in the second half are more likeable and believable than the first half. So what was the difference?

The first half:
Characters are unbelievable or act against their nature. The bad boss thing was taken to an extreme. This one did things that no boss would; particularly one who owns the business he's worked so hard to build, and especially not with a brand new employee (think sexual harrassment lawsuit). The MFC is supposed to be an intelligent, educated and more reserved woman (she's only had one boyfriend in her life). Knowing the boss's reputation, as a boss and with women, she would NEVER do, nor allow, the things this girl did, no matter how attractive she found her boss; because honestly...there was no redeeming quality about him in the first half of this book. Finally, the sexual encounters in the first half are cold, rough and at times even too brutal. How is that supposed to make a girl melt or fall in love? This half came pretty damn close to a DNF, so I'd rate it 1-1.5 star.

The second half:
This is the turning point where the MMC becomes a different person. In this part we begin to see/feel emotion from him; we begin to see a difference in the way he treats her. Their sexual encounters are more sensual, steamy...even loving. While there's still a bit of hot/cold, there's a real reason for it now and we feel his struggles. He has much growth and is definitely redeemed in the second half. Her reactions to his hot/cold and everything else are more believable and it's easier to understand her falling for him in the second half. So yes, I'm glad I stuck with it because I did end up liking both characters. This part I'd rate 4.5-5 stars.

There are a couple issues...a time line that doesn't seem to jive (two weeks suddenly referred to as a few months) and another regarding a venue change (she arrives at a ballroom for someone's wedding, but leaves a church). Sadly, I can't ignore the first half in my overall rating. So ultimately I give it 3 stars.

Fortunately, I didn't have to buy this book as it's an Amazon Prime book. If you're a Prime member the book is free to read.

A solid "boss from Hell" story whereas Lillian was a good character to Max's push and pull. It began as a love hate scenario, progressed to a hidden attraction scenario and then became a full blown office affair. Lillian and Max's worlds were so different and yet her character initially could give as much as she got. She held her ground longer than many of these female characters do in this genre. Once she fell down the rabbit hole of a very vigorous sexual relationship with Max all bets were off. Max's character was everything you expect from the boss from Hell. The typical arrogant as.......hole who treated everyone like garbage because he refused to trust anyone or believe that anyone could pierce his armor; especially low hanging fruit like his PA.

I wish the author hadn't reduced Lillian's character to one of "I want to be a housewife". Not that there is anything wrong with that, it just seemed like she was very intelligent, a hard worker, but only had aspirations to get married, stay home and have five kids. There is nothing wrong with wanting to stay home while you raise your children, but what happens when those kids no longer need you every minute of the day. It just seemed that she could have wanted something more than just a lifetime of being "someone's wife and mother". Even her mother wanted her to pursue something that made her independent in the event she was ever a widow or divorced. In today's world; that is a must. Women must look out for the inevitable and be somewhat prepared for life to take a left turn.

I enjoyed the book (a bit too much time spent on sex) but there was enough of a story to keep the plot moving. Max immediately assuming that Lillian was "the mole" to me was a jump considering he hadn't vetted her or did a background check or really had any evidence to support that. Max could have investigated the "mole" more thoroughly instead of believing that Lillian was the culprit.

It was a rush to judgement in my opinion considering that she had told him that a woman had come to his office while he was conveniently away and gone into his office and left the cookies. It was obvious there was history between these two people and yet he never consider her as the mole, until the end of the book.

I am looking forward to book 2 and would definitely recommend this book. It was a nice change.

Georgia Le Carre is getting better at writing. Her story plots are always good, but it is the details that are not the strongest. This one is no different. Little words here and there which are probably the correct word where she is from, are not the correct words in America, which is where most of her stories are set at. She is getting much better though!

This one has some typo's towards the end. Maximum vs. Maximus. Baby sister vs baby sitter. Nothing too traumatizing for the grammar nazis. She mentions knowing him for a couple months, when in reality, it was probably only week 2. Possibly week 3. Unknown how long she is working for him before her bestie decides to graciously give her the money they had wagered about her lasting 1 month working for Max. It was definitely over a month, though. Also, these people live in New York City, but it is only an hour car ride to Connecticut. ??? They all have single, detached homes, including Lillian's mother, who can't afford her large house anymore. It was several thousand for the mortgage payment I believe, and somehow Lillian can afford this as well as her own bills while working as a PA. Again, it is the little details that are skewed in this story. But the story was nice.

Max and Lillian are crazy hot for each other. Once they start in on the sex (which is their first week together), it is frequent and spicy. The rest of the story kind of falls to the side, as the bedroom activities take up a lot of the story. Somewhere along the way, you have conflict of him thinking she is a spy working for someone other company, and she feels inadequate as she is not from the same social circles as him.

Once the conflict was cleared, the ending came quickly. I skimmed it, honestly. Story isn't too long, I read it in two days. Faster readers will be one day. My work schedule prevents that, though.

Hang on once you start you put it down until the last page has been turned. Max sexy as all get out grumpiest billionaire CEO who can’t keep a PA to save his life, he is a horrid man to work for/with, he so focused on his business he forgets there are others around treating them more like they are objects without feelings, and so the turn around for personal assistants is really high he can’t keep one due to his demanding treatment. Lillian is a sweetheart when she wants to be looking for a job through her friends temp. agency forewarned that it is a difficult job, the CEO is a hard man to work for/with, he is demanding, and a boss from he** but she accepts the job anyway determined to hate the man but keep the job no matter what he threw her way. The attraction was instant for Max, but he wasn’t ready to acknowledge what he is feeling so yes, he throws difficult and demeaning task her way in hopes she will quit like all the others giving him a reason not to feel what he is feeling or to get it out of his system. But Lillian is a stubborn little something she refused to quit determined to help her mother pay the mortgage and standing up to her boss, getting under his skin has become her favorite past time he has decided to make her life difficult she returns the favor awaking something in him the magnetic pull is too strong to ignore but will the boss give in to what is drawing him to the best PA he has ever had, will she considering seeing past his arrogant ways, and will it end with something more than him being a boss from he**?

I never thought I would ever give a Georgia Le Carre book a One Star. But I have always tried to maintain integrity when I gave my reviews. I kept my mouth shut when I read two of her novels that had "billionaire" in the full title.

I have been reading romance novels for 4 decades now and when I find an Author I like, I read everything by them. Authors always follow a pattern in their books. With Georgia Le Carre, she hooked me with the Gypsy and Banker Series, she more than most Authors have a very distinct style of writing. She always like to "add her two cents" about current event and things we might not be aware of. I always look forward to this part of her books. Her stories have a lot of Angst in them too.

This book along with the other two I mentioned had none of that. I doubt very much they were written by her, they are as different from the rest of her books as night and day. At first I thought she had changed her style of writing when I read The Russian Billionaire. But then the next one was her style of writing. Maybe her editors are going too far, I don't know. But if this is her new style, I wouldn't be reading anything else. I barely made it through 20 percent of this book before calling it quits, it was so stupid and what the Author couldn't come up with in building a story, they just filled it with sex. If I wanted that kind of book, I will read erotica.

This will melt any frozen heart

Wow! Parts of this book were so 🌶️ and impossible to put down! Here’s a quick recap and my two cents.

Quick recap:

Max Frost is known for being impossible, demanding, rude, and mean. But in comes Lillian to challenge his rule and see if she can melt his frozen heart.

My two cents:

There were definitely parts of this book that were too hot to put down! I caught myself getting mad when my family interrupted my reading 😆 which is always the sign for a good book 😉

I enjoyed both Max and Lillian. I especially liked the side plot with Lillian’s mom and the addition of her friend Maggie. I wanted Maggie to get engaged as much as Lillian did!

There was a ton of sex scenes in the beginning of the book, which made it better. I even liked how the author eased up on the scenes at the end so it didn’t feel overwhelming. I will caution that there’s one scene that is a bit much. Max is mad at Lillian and “punishes” her for something. He takes it too far in my opinion.

This book was a solid alphahole boss book. The characters were well written and the story had an expected, but solid climax. I would be interested in reading more by this author. Give this book a try if you like angry men who become squishees for women they love! Happy reading y’all!

Vile

You read that right. Max is vile to Lillian for half the book, and she lets him. To be fair to Lillian, though, she wanted to prove to her friend Maggie that she could put up with the most hateful boss anyone would have the misfortune to work for. Then to get back at him, she commits an interesting act on his bedspread while running an errand at his house. Max is a man who must be in control. He takes up Lillian's unstated offer and begins a game of one-upmanship with Lillian the emotional loser.

Oh, Lillian tries to stiff upper lip it, to acknowledge it as an affair and nothing more, but eventually she can't suppress her emotions anymore. Max is also falling for her, but he is also intellectually betraying her while still conducting the affair. At least, Georgia le Carre made him have to grovel some before he was forgiven.

I really didn't like these two characters much at the beginning. Lillian was too stiff, hiding her emotions, and Max was too cavalier, expecting her capitulation as his due. Their internal voices, the secondary characters and le Carrie's perfect delivery of the story kept me reading. Le Carre really knows how to turn the heat up in the bedroom, in the car, on the desk. You get the picture.

I started and finished Boss from Hell in one night when I should have been sleeping. Le Carre is one of my favorite authors.

A grumpy boss, a stubborn PA, spicy romance, and a sweet ending!

What starts off as a desperately needed job and a bet becomes a "no strings attached" fiery arrangement.
Max Frost doesn't do relationships. His whole life is his work, and he doesn't want it any other way. However, when he meets his new PA, Lillian, he finds she's different from the previous ones. He isn't quite sure what it is about her, but it gets to the point that he can't get her out of his mind. She's too much of a distraction, so he decides that she needs to go. He does what he can to make her want to quit, but she's stubborn and sticks it out!

Lillian's been working to help her mother pay her mortgage on her house, but finances have become tight. She needs her PA job with Max, at least until she finds a better one. Their attraction to each other increases until they act on it more and more. Max has made it clear it won't ever be more than just physical, but she can't help but get her heart involved.

There seem to be a few things fighting against them, but in the end, Max realizes just how much Lillian brightens up his life and that he suddenly can't see it without her in his future.

The ending is super sweet, and he does a great job redeeming himself! I love it!

I could not wait to get to the end of this book. Why, oh why, do authors make females such weak-minded characters in these books. Both main characters came across as childlike, but the FMC deserves special mention.....

Frankly, Lillian came across as easy, too eager for a man in her life, and desperate. Who in their right mind would touch themself to orgasm on a stranger's bed, and this knowing full well that there are cameras around and the man (stranger) in question is watching? She supposedly did this to get back at him for not telling her he has dogs in his house - please, make it make sense! Then she is all up in her feelings about the future of a relationship that does not exist. She knew what she agreed to from the word go but had all these "expectations". She even allowed this man to abuse her and bang her in full view of the public, but he's just so HOT, don't you know? I felt not an ounce of sympathy for her "heartbreak".

Also missing for me: What are the main characters' ages? Over what period of time did the story play out? How much time elapsed between the different "scenes"?

This is my first book by this author, and it will surely be my last.

This office romance is absolutely enticing and engaging.
I really enjoyed getting lost in Max and Lillian’s interesting, tantalizing and passionate story. Max’s life is focused on his business and loyalty. When Lillian his temporary PA enters his life Max quickly discovers that Lillian is really the best PA he’s had and he’s very attracted to her.
Lillian is down on her luck job wise and is trying to help her mother, so when her friend offers her a job through her placement agency as the PA to a Max Frost , she accepts even though her friend mentions he’s hard to work for.
From the start these two clash but in a I will show you who’s gonna win this game kinda way. However, underneath all the sassy, flirty bantering lies a strong chemistry and a growing relationship.
Thinking Lillian has betrayed him, Max tries to distant his feelings for her and waits to confront Lillian with what he thinks she has done.
So escape into this FASCINATING and STUNNING story and follow Max and Lillian on their journey. You will just love it.

I rolled my eyes so many times while reading that I lost count. There was just so much sex. One minute, Max Frost—even the name sounded like it was trying too hard—was this rude, demanding, obnoxious boss. The next minute, Max and Lilian were having sex pretty much every freaking moment. Lilian was no better. She "tried" not to give in to the urges but failed miserably. You would think that someone who was in serious need of money would do whatever it takes, especially keeping her panties on, not to lose such a good-paying job.

Talk about absurd things. Honestly, what possessed Lilian to do THAT when she visited Max's place for the first time? As a PA, no less!? The first text Max sent to Lilian was begging for a lawsuit to happen. The sex weekend trip?

When I reached the part about a mole in the company, I knew right away who it was. If this subplot was supposed to be a huge mystery, it failed to deliver on that front.

And the cliché “you used me” third act.

All in all, I'd say 90% of this book was sex. The storyline was barely there.

Lillian's friend runs a temp agency and offer to help Lillian get a job. However, the job she offers is with one of her toughest clients. Maximus goes through PA's quicker than anything. Now Lillian is there, and he wants to test her to see if she can handle working for him. Lillian has a bet with her friend that she can last a month working for Maximus. They end up with a rocky relationship because she gives back as much as he throws at her. Soon things heat up between them and it gets complicated. Will this be something more between them? Or will things end as they get complicated?

This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

This was terrible. I almost stopped reading several times, but I wanted to hang in and see the Jerk get his comeuppance for basically beating and like someone said in another review almost raping her. But there was none of that, not even much feeling bad that he ended up being the dick in the end. The main female character had a back bone at first, until there was sex up to offer and she just voluntarily took out her spine and gave it to him. Also, the supporting characters at the end encouraging her to believe he loved her and all was well, and she was the stupid one for finally walking away, ughhh!! I can’t stand it! And lest you think I rate harshly, this is probably only like the second one star I’ve ever given. It’s normally an automatic two for just giving me a finished story. Most ratings are 4’s.

Max and Lillian

I started this book off, thinking this is the best book. At about 85 percent into the book I was then thinking what is this? Only because the author wrote a two-year-old speaking in complete sentences. I had to go back and reread what was said to make sure that it was the two-year-old that was speaking. It completely threw me off. And it was hard to get past. I also felt that their reconciliation was odd. Like first her emotions when she found out what he was thinking were over the top. And then her reaction to him professing his love was also. It was just written weirdly. Like it didn’t flow well. It’s hard to explain. Other than those things, I thought the book was a good read. I enjoyed everything until the 2 year old’s dialogue. I liked the boss, PA aspect. I loved Lillian’s resolve even when she lost it.

strangely unnerving

Throughout a lot of the story I struggled to see how the female lead put up with the male lead. He didn’t seem to have any redeeming qualities and most of the cringe inducing spicy scenes I skipped because instead of coming across as a natural progression of their chemistry it felt shoehorned in and borderline abusive. The fact that there was no real conversations that would make you think they are entering into consensual BDSM type relationship. And don’t even get me started on the friend/sister completely dismissing the male leads actions as ‘he did it cause he loves you’. It was a lazy excuse and was haphazardly resolved; overall it’s a ‘Meh’ book at best but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a decent storyline with realistic characters and experiences.

Terrible, did not finish!

I got about a quarter of the way through the book and just couldn't take anymore of the amateurish writing, the lack of plot, descriptions and intent, it was beyond ridiculous. When you pick a book like this to read you expect cliches and a fast pace, but this was beyond ludicrous and actually kinda boring. It's simply a Mean boss and a hot PA which equals sex, there was no build up, no tension, no story and once I read the chapter where Lillian got her own back on her boss for scaring her with his dogs by 'masturbating' on his bed, I was done, it literally made no sense and was really cringy. This book is absolutely pants, I could actually write a book on how bad it was. There are so many better, hotter and steamy books out there, with actual story, plot and sex appeal, so seriously don't waste your time.
