Darius Keyes learned the hard way that women weren’t to be trusted. Betrayed in the most dangerous way, he left the military with his deepest scars invisible to the naked eye. He doesn’t need a woman; his mistress is his motorcycle club. And who needs love when he’s already married to the pursuit of justice? He was set in solitude, until an ongoing case brings him straight to the home of Athena Holman—his high school sweetheart.
Athena is just as beautiful as the day Darius broke her heart. He can’t believe she’s involved with a criminal, but before he can confront her, a sudden attack leaves her defenseless in his arms.
In an instant, Athena is rendered temporarily blind and completely vulnerable. A motorcycle garage is no place for a wounded woman, but Darius will do anything to protect her—and atone for how he once treated her. There’s only one problem: Athena can’t see him and doesn’t recognize his voice. To her, Darius is nothing more than the Good Samaritan who saved her life… and he doesn’t correct her.
Darius knows there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed, but when he’s around her, he can’t stay away… and she doesn’t want him to. Tenderness turns to trust. Trust turns to touch. And touch tempts him to tell her the truth—that he’s no hero, but the man who was once the villain in her story.
Unfortunately, fate doesn’t leave him with a choice. Someone wants Athena dead, and to save her life Darius will have to put his heart on the line and reveal the secret he’s fought so hard to conceal.
Rebecca Sharp always loved a good love story. Let's face it, when you include a romance novel on your 8th grade summer reading list just to see if the teacher would notice (she didn't!), she was bound to give writing one of her own a go. There's really no corner of romance that she doesn't (or wouldn't) enjoy writing, except maybe aliens, much to her husband's dismay, so her large catalog features a little something for everyone. However, her love of shows like NCIS and Criminal Minds makes her favorite stories to write the ones with some kind of suspense and crime solving.
When she's not writing, she's at her office treating patients, and somewhere between those two things, you'll find her wandering the globe with her husband always searching for their next adventure.

The Villain is the third book in Dr Rebecca Sharp’s Vigilantes MC series. Throughout the novel she delivers a good recap of the previous books and the series’s plot thus far. After seeing how the other members of the motorcycle club interact and support one another, it’s easy to become invested in them. I’m excited for the next books in the rest of the series. I haven’t read her previous series, but would like to go back and wish I had started there. One of my favorite things is to see the side characters’ relationships and I’d love to see how they initially became involved with each other. The way the title is scattered throughout brings you back to it and the struggle between the main character’s personality, how he views himself, and a main motif of the novel.
I really enjoy Dr Rebecca Sharp’s writing style. It’s descriptive without being overly flowery. It reminds me of an old detective novel in a way, and I read it that way accordingly. It really works with the story and the characters. Her descriptions mirror the emotions, the violence, that occurs throughout allowing you to see/feel what the characters do. I truly enjoyed the contrast and the danger implied in not only letting go, but risking your feelings, your heart.
Five Stars.
Four Chili Peppers.
Disclaimer: I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved The Villain: The Vigilantes. Darius can’t believe it when his past comes back to haunt him, the girl whose heart he broke. She doesn’t know it’s him helping her, she’s temporarily blinded from an explosion. She trusts him but she doesn’t know who he really is and he keeps pushing her away. He can’t keep his distance much longer but the truth will send her away. Danger is after her thanks to her ex but Athena can’t help falling for her protector, something is so familiar about him. This was a great story and I loved the characters. I loved his it continues from the previous books. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

Second chances...with a girl I had no idea was in the picture
Background history… One big event which helped create the Vigilantes team was the betrayal of Amira, an insurgent plant, that caused the death of their teammate Ryan. The special forces guys come home and create their motorcycle garage, basically a front for their vigilante work. Dare (Darius) carries the most guilt because he convinced the team to believe the intel Amira gave him. [This isn’t a spoiler. It’s clear in each of the books this is so.]
All along I go into this series with the knowledge that Dare loved Amira, which blinded him to her lies, so he feels that he’s responsible for all the bad that happened. Now he’s sworn off all women and doesn’t believe he is worthy of love so he plans to be alone from now on.
Then this story brings in Athena. Who knew he had a high school sweetheart? If he loved her so much as the story explains over time, just why did he fall for Amira so quick? It messes with my belief of how blind he was in love, to convince his team that to act on her intel, which ended up being a trap. OK…so let’s just go along with the story as it plays out. (I feel like I shouldn’t have to ignore the team's foundation to get the next book, but here goes)
Now this book… Athena is a lovely girl who we learn about as the story unfolds. Dare has history with her…very close history with her from when they were teenagers. We learn about Athena’s tough life after Darius went off to boot camp as a teenager. Then how she is pulled into the circle of the big bads the Vigilante group is going after for this series.
We see how Athena and Dare’s relationship develops and helps them overcome their pasts. I do like how their relationship builds. There are a couple times that Dare misses warning signs, that are pretty blaringly obvious. (I caught them, sometimes even seeing it coming before it happened). Shouldn't a person with Special Services training be better than that?
For this story, IF I ignore the history of the Vigilantes team, I would give this a 4. Because I have to ignore such important foundation facts for this series for this relationship to be…I give this a 3. For a total of 3.5, but this time I will lean toward 3 stars. (I was generous with my rating on the previous book and rounded up to 4)
OK…2 more books for this series. Maybe I’m just not as enamored with Dr Sharp’s writing. I really enjoyed her Covington series, which was my 1st book of hers. Carmel Cove was sweet and I liked the brothers in the Reynolds Protective Group. Maybe I need to revisit “Betrayed” to see how different her writing is. I feel like I’m being talked to vs the world building being done so I fall into the story.

Darius and his team of vigilantes are former special forces and part of a motorcycle club. They strive to bring criminals to justice after what had happened with their adopted sister, Rob.
We dive straight into the heat of things when right at the beginning things happen that are so drastic that it changes both Darius and Athena's world.
Darius is taken by anger when he finds a mysterious envelope addressed to him and has a single photo of the man they have been hunting for so long and the woman whom he hasn't seen in decades.
But a dangerous turn results in knowing that Athena might also be in danger and the shocking twist is the accident makes her blind and gives her Amnesia which makes Athena have no idea about the very recent events that happened, the same which might help Darius and his team in finding the missing piece of the puzzle to nab the criminal they are searching for.
Darius has lots of Emotional wounds of the past. Mainly the woman who betrayed him and his team and he can't let go of his trust issues because of her in their last mission.
But sweet Athena was the one whose heart he broke all those years ago and now that she doesn't recognise him yet needs protection from the unknown danger, Darius finds himself in a tough spot.
I really felt my heart strings tug with all the high on emotions and feelings we have going on that are full of turmoil and pain from both the sides.
But when you mix these bittersweet pain and suffering with the desires that are still burning bright even today, you have a very dangerous combination. Darius and Athena will make you feel a plethora of mixed emotions and hot desires but the freaking angst.... Oh my.... I was feeling everything along with them and wanted them to just find that second chance at happiness together.
The letters mentioned at the beginning of each chapter added more of the zing to the already high voltage emotions and made it all the more raw and real the hurt and the wounds that were left unhealed years before.
Athena is an absolutely sweet girl and I felt for her - for all that she had been through, for her losses and for been dealt misery even after the hope of happiness that she thought she had found.
Darius did redeem himself by the end for the way he left Athena and it did make complete sense to me. My heart really sang with joy by the end of the book to see these two wounded souls find their happiness together.
Mind you, there might be reluctance but we have lots of spicy times and steaminess going on. 🔥♨️
There's also the fact that the danger is still out there and Darius has to keep Athena safe no matter what but it seems like things are more tangled than they had thought and they need to find the culprits before it's too late.
Definitely couldn't put this one down and inspite of being a highly emotional ride, I also enjoyed the suspense and action times we get coupled with the spice, this one was one heck of an amazing ride. Loved loved this one.❤️❤️❤️
“It was only in the darkness that we learned how to find the light.”
Dare has officially taken top RS MMC status for this series! This book is so good and I feel a ramble coming on so I’ll try to be vague so that I don’t spoil anything. Dare has been one of those characters that when first introduced in his sister’s book in Covington Security, I wanted to know more about him. We’ve heard of Ryan early on in Rorik’s book of CS and how his death affected the team but Dare has carried the weight of survivor’s guilt unlike any of the other guys.
Daris and Athena were high school sweethearts but when Dare went to basic training, he essentially ghosted Athena. They both went through the wringer with relationships and Dare hardened his heart and Athena never wanted to trust a man again. When a photograph of the woman Dare never forgot appears, he makes it his mission to find her and protect her. Little did he know it could all blow up in his face, literally. Athena is left temporarily blind and specific amnesia to the events leading up to the accident. Dare takes this opportunity to not share with her who he is to her. I think Athena knows deep down there’s something familiar about him and she finds herself falling for the man who saved her life. Dare can’t allow himself to love again after near decades of trauma. Can they both learn to trust their hearts again??
As the overarching plot thickens I’m all over watching this second chance love story unfold with the emotions and crying I can’t stop, to have seen the twist Rebecca threw in. Dang, she got me this time! A WTH just happened was definitely on the menu! But the love story….man was it swoony and saucy and really tugged on all the heartstrings for me. I’m a military spouse and I can 100% relate to being where Darius was in his mindset and seeing loss after loss and just realizing it could be him next. I saw friends lose their spouse and I felt that hard for them, the same way I hurt for Dare and all the guys for that matter. My husband is a Ryan and I remember talking to Rebecca about this in Rorik’s book about how there were plenty of times it could’ve easily been mine who didn’t make it home. It takes a toll on a soldier and the family. I cried so hard over him finally breaking down over the past so that he could see what light awaited him. By having the opportunity to live again and to love Athena like he never stopped.
I really liked this book. It was exciting and had a lot of suspense. I wouldn’t consider it a standalone because there is an ongoing plot that started in the first book and has carried over.
This plot centered around Dare and Athena. Dare blamed himself for the death of the Vigilantes’ friend Ryan. He’s spent the last ten years building walls and keeping himself separate from everyone. Because he was betrayed by the last woman he let close to him, he’s also sworn off women. But when he finds out his high school sweetheart, whose heart he broke, is in trouble, he finds it difficult to keep his emotions locked up.
Athena has been through a lot in her life. Since Dare ghosted her almost two decades ago, she’s lost her mother, married a terrible man she’s in the process of divorcing, and found herself at the center of an unknown threat that left her blind after an explosion almost killed her. She has no idea that the man who’s taken care of her and protected her is the same man she’d loved and lost as a teen.
As much as I loved the plot, I didn’t love that Dare never told Athena who he was. He had so many chances to come clean and even though he felt guilty, he let her fall in love with him without knowing who he was to her. The timeline of Dare’s life was also a little confusing as well as some revelations about his relationship with the woman who betrayed him.
Despite my confusion, I did enjoy this book. The suspense and action started in chapter one and didn’t end until the final chapter. I liked the way Dare and Athena reconnected. Their understanding of each other was endearing, even before Athena realized who Dare really was. Dare had a lot of character growth and I loved seeing him come to terms with his past.
The Villain by Rebecca Sharp Dare and his team were on a relentless mission to track down Ray Ivans. When a lead finally came their way, Dare was stunned to see Athena, his childhood sweetheart in the photo, right beside the man they’d been hunting. His heart clenched, he could not believe it was her and he immediately knew he had to protect her, no matter the costs. But as always, life had its plans, and everything spiraled out of control when an explosion happened. In the aftermath of the blast, Athena’s life was thrown into Dare’s hands. She was alive, but shaken, and temporarily blinded. The kicker was she didn’t recognize Darius aka Dare. To her, he was just Dare, the man she quickly became infatuated with. Athena, ever confident and daring, flirted and teased at every chance, but he kept his distance. He couldn’t let her in, he had already hurt her once before, and he swore to never trust another woman again, even if that was unfair to Athena. Yet, no matter how hard he tried to keep her at arm’s length, the walls between them began to crumble. Emotions stirred, old wounds re-opened, and the unspoken truth hung heavy between them. Had Dare left it too late to come clean and reveal the truth? Would Athena still want him when she realized the man she’d fallen for, twice, was the same man who had shattered her heart once before? Could she forgive him, survive the wreckage, and allow a future? Or were they doomed to repeat the cycle of heartbreak, forever trapped in the shadows of the past? I enjoyed this story, the chemistry between the characters built, keeping you intrigued and turning the pages. The plot was good, you had to keep your wits about you to follow the crumbs, but it was nicely tied up in the end. Very enjoyable.
I have to be honest, I'm a bit skeptical with Dare in a previous book. He's so grumpy and hate women so much, it's kind of off putting. And with the blurp like that?
I need to explain myself now that I was wrong. This book is a gold exemplar of story. Dare, as much as his hatred towards women portrayed like, he actually hate himself more. He hate trusting a woman who he cared about and betrayed him in a worst way possible, resulting a death of a good friend.
Athena, trying to start over after bad marriage that has to end, finding herself in a danger. Dare is in a right place in a right time and managed to save her. Athena suffered from a temporary blindness, and this help Dare to hide himself due to their past relationship (Athena is Dare's first love).
I love how Athena not overreacted with Dare's lies. She try to sit and listen to him before jumping into conclusion. She's very mature, kind, and amazing woman!
Darius Keyes has his mind set on finding Ray Ivans. He knows he is out there. He can’t run from them. But when he is sent a photo from the past. He is thrown. Athena forgot one thing. When she was running back to her car, she heard her name and BOOM. Not only does she not know what is going on but she can’t see. Our guys are still on the hunt for Ray Ivers aka Richard Ivans. Athena just happens to know Richard. We also have her going through a messy divorce with her soon to be ex Brandon. There are twists and turns within her story but it is Dare that also has to break the past. He needs to let go of the past and move forward. We find out a lot more about what is causing his guilt and even trust issues. I have to say there were times I wanted to slap Dare. I get protecting Athena but open up, tell her what is going on with you. It takes a lot for that to happen. You feel for Athena. An artist that sees the world with vivid color. Having her sight taken from her is a blow. Things do pick up when the darkness turns to light, then all hell breaks loose. Looking forward to find out what Ty will do with his charge Sutton Brant.

After a devastating betrayal by a woman he trusted killed his best friend, Darius Keyes returned from war a broken man... his worst scars on the inside. Now he lives for justice along with his fellow Vigilante brothers. When a photo is delivered to him of the man they've been tracking with a woman from his past, he's determined to get answers. Athena such bad luck with relationships but she never expected an ex to try and kill her. After an explosion takes her eyesight temporarily, she wakes in a safe house to her rescuer, Dare, a man that eerily reminds her of her first boyfriend that left her for war and never looked back. He's so kind and caring, determined to protect her, but keeps her at arms length telling her she deserves better. But he can't keep her from falling for him... until her eyesight returns and he's not the man she expected to see. This is the third book in the series and can be read as a standalone, although reading the series helps you understand the backstory. Dare is the character I've been most looking forward to, haunted by his past that we finally get to learn more about. I love how he treated Athena both before and after and could even understand his reasons for not telling her the truth. And her love and understanding helping him to confront his past was really great. I'm looking forward to Ty's book next. Sounds like he'll have his hands full! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is book 3 of a series. I would recommend you read in order as the storyline starts in book 1.
The series name speaks for itself, The Vigilantes. A group of people that want Justice and sometimes have to do things a little different than the law allows.
Darius was young in love. Athena was everything to him. When he went away, into the military, things changed quickly. He didn’t stop loving Athena but he could no longer be with her..she deserved more.
Fast forward many years..Darius is part of The Vigilantes and serving Justice the best he can. But a day does not go by where he is not haunted by his past. Then he receives a picture and instantly he knows trouble is brewing and he will do anything to help.
Athena is an artist now. She has had a rough few years and she is ready to move forward. There has been trouble all around her and she’s about to find out. But she never imagined a ghost from her past..and he’s about to save her life.
These stories are amazing. The story lines are so entertaining, keeps you intrigued throughout, and steamy alpha protective men to add. Definitely recommend this book, this series, and everything else by Dr. RS!.

I truly enjoyed the contrast and the danger implied in not only letting go, but risking your feelings, your heart.
Date has been pursuing the group of men that hurt his family for years. As fate would have it, he gets a lead that also involves his high school sweetheart. When going to talk to her, outside forces get in the way and leave Athena with temporary vision loss and amnesia. Dare steps up to help her recover. But he still needs answers.
This one is my favorite so far in this series. (I have a feeling Rob will walk away with that in the future).
I love how the suspense continues through this series while being a standalone. I do highly recommend reading this series in order to really get more of the storyline but it is not a requirement.
Dare and Athena getting a second chance was just beautiful. Dare was so broken emotionally and Athena needed healing physically. They both were able to lean on the other, even if Dare was adamant that he didn’t deserve that kind of future.
The way Athena’s temporary vision loss was written still allowed you to feel the world that is created in Sherwood Garage.
If you like MC romance, broken boy, second chance, suspense, and ✨bedazzled✨ things, give this series a try.
Darius lost everything, his love, his friends or friend Ryan! Now he is back home in the states doing his job when he gets a picture of the girl he left behind when he went into service, Athena and when he gets to her the car she almost got into blows up and she almost dies but she does need help and Darius steps in to be her helper, she doesn't recognize him,one because it has been years and two is because she is blind and can't see who her hero is.Darius finds out she is in danger so she stays at the safe house until she gets better, but the danger is still there but more are after her and she is worst danger!Athena went thru so much awhile was away from her mother passing,A very bad marriage and also losing Darius her first love! This story was so heartbreaking from what Darius went thru with a girl he thought he trusted, death of a friend and losing Athena. Athena also went thru heartbreak mostly on her own and it gets worst but a old friend and possible lover comes back into her life.Excellent story, sad but a very happy ending!
Darius Keyes still carries the guilt of a teammate’s death and doesn’t trust women but while searching for a lead on an elusive target, he gets a photo from a frienemy showing Athena Holman, his ex-girlfriend, with the target looking couple-y. Though they haven’t been in touch since she saw him off for bootcamp with promises of writing, Darius rushes to confront Athena and get information on their target. Darius’ calls out to Athena as she leaves her house for her car, as she pauses, her car explodes. Leaving her blind!
Seeing Athena awakens Darius’ buried feelings for Athena and now that she’s alone in the world, bringing her in HQ to keep her safe is the best thing to do. Especially since his voice and build are different, she can’t see him and he doesn’t tell her who he really is. She’s moved on so he’s the only one that could be hurt by this. Right? Meanwhile, Athena’s life is in danger and whenever she pokes her head out of the rabbit hole someone tries to kill her. Rating: 4stars
📚Review ~ The Villain (The Vigilantes #3) 🖋Author ~ Dr. Rebecca Sharp 🖋Features: Military, MC, 2nd chance romance ⭐️Rating: 5/5
Dare ~ What we’d seen, what we’d lived through, and what we’d lost…they were the kinds of things that had both broken and bonded us forever.
Locked in a self-imposed prison of guilt and regret, Dare has pushed everyone away except his brothers. Believing he doesn’t deserve anyone’s love, he does his job, seeking justice and protecting the innocent. But once his first love becomes unwittingly involved with a criminal organization, Dare will suffer everything to protect Athena.
Dare and Athena were teenaged lovers who were parted by when he entered the service. Though she held hope, their roads diverged not to meet again until she unwittingly needed his protection. The tale that ensues has a few twists (no spoilers here) that you need to read for yourself. From the book description, it’s no surprise that Athena must rely on her old boyfriend, but in reality, has no idea of his true identity. The rest is up to you to discover.
This next installment in “The Vigilante” series contains passion, protection, and piercings, and you’ve got to turn those pages to see how they all tie together. Dare is one tortured individual while Athena is literally helpless without him, and this story ensnares the reader.
This is another can’t miss book by Dr. Rebecca Sharp. She’s become a go-to author for me who’s never disappointed.

Darius/Dare and Athena. Dare has been the angry and hurt/bitter member of the MC and special forces team the whole series. Each story shared a bit of the why, but now it’s his story and we get all the details. His brothers are all part of the story as they get to the next villain of Robs story and harm, but this time the innocent of the story is Dare’s high school girlfriend. Athena has a hard start to the series, recent divorcee, victim of a bombing, blinded by injury and relying on who she thinks is strangers for safety. Her strength, compassion and artistic nature are astounding and make her the perfect partner for Dare and friend/sister for Rob. The final action scene with her was vivid and straight out of an action film which was fitting the with level of violence in this book. The use of constellations and art in this book and the epilogue was lovely. The cliffhanger for Ty was intriguing and has me excited for his story!
This was a moving, heart felt, suspense book. Loved it! Kept me spell bound all the way through with how Athena's blindness was approached and how Dare was with his feelings. Almost poetic.
This was about Athena who had been targeted when her car explodes and Darius who was her Protector.
Danger, drama and emotional with a deep romance that was very well done.
Athena with her blindness had to approach everything differently as did Darius. But their connection was always there even when she didn't know him, the feelings were always there.
So well written with a truly gripping story, a well planned plot and all the characters that were so well done.
I very much enjoyed reading the story and can't wait for more! Just brilliant!!.

This continues where the last book left off, they are looking to take down GrowTech/GrowGood. Darius Keyes is part of The Vigilantes, he has been blaming himself for years for the death of his friend. Someone sends him a photo of a person from his past, Athena, with the man they have been chasing. He heads to her house, she is coming out when her car explodes.
Darius has to ensure that she is safe, he takes her back to his place. She does not know who he is as she cannot see when she wakes.
There is a lot of pain in this story, hers regarding him for ghosting her. He is still carrying guilt for his friends death. How will she feel when she can see again and it is him?
I loved this story, Athena is a better person than most. I think I would have been a lot madder if I had been in her shoes.

A powerful storyline in the Vigilantes series. I would strongly recommend reading the first 2 books in the series first to have a better understanding of the backstory and side characters.
In previous books, Dare/Darius has been a troubled character with a sarcastic and edgy attitude due to his backstory - loss of a teammate/found brother, betrayal of a someone he loved and overall emotional scaring from his time in the service.
Seeing him come face-to-face with someone he loved and left behind was heartbreaking. He is determined to keep Athena safe and her temporary blindness allows him to hide his real identity and protect her from the emotional pain.
Athena has been through so much, but she is a fighter.
I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the series!

Outstanding!! This series is the epitome of the love and loyalty between brothers, whether by blood or choice. Dare lives to protect, sacrifice, and pay penance for wrongs: he’s so hard on himself. Athena’s life has been difficult, filled with loss and pain. The emotions that Dr Sharp evokes between them are heartbreaking and soulful. Time and distance mean nothing when there’s a connection so powerful that it survives: Athena and Dare are proof.
I loved their chemistry: it’s erotic with a deep sense of care, it’s raw with emotion, and the intensity is visceral!! The suspense is killer, the tension is palpable, and the real villains are very busy! I read every book that Dr Sharp publishes and each one is well written with compelling stories and memorable characters. A great read that leaves me wanting more!.

This is book 3 in a series. I have not read the first two and still enjoyed this one. Reading the first two may have added a little to the story but I was totally fine without reading them.
I really enjoyed reading about Dare and Athena as they show up in each others lives for the first time in years. They’ve both been through a lot and even more once an ongoing case leads Dare to her doorstep. Athena is completely vulnerable and Dare and his team have to take care of her and keep her safe. Dare was keeping a secret from her and I may have been internally yelling at him to tell her before it backfires. He didn’t listen.
It was find trying to solve the case with them as we watched them (re)connect. There were definitely some surprises along the way.

The aftermath of Darius’s last relationship has shown him that he is destined to be alone, but he does have the other members of the Vigilantes MC. When he finds out that the man he is trying to bring to justice has a relationship with his first love he wants answers but when she is injured his priorities change.
Athena has not made the best choices when it comes to the men in her life and her recent relationship is proof of that. She now finds herself with a temporary loss of sight and memory, but Darius is there for her both when it happened and during her recovery. There is a lot she doesn’t know including the fact that he was her first love who broke her heart.
This is a suspenseful and romantic story as Darius and Athena try to help each other make peace with the past both when they were together and apart.
This book has all the feels! Dare is so broken. He takes on the burden of being the cause of an ambush and a friend being unalived during their military days. He trusted a woman who betrayed him. When he comes face to face with his high school sweetheart, Athena, (that he ghosted) her car blows up and she is now blind due to brain damage. It will heal eventually but Dare insists on taking care of her. She doesn’t know who he is, his voice has changed and he’s called a different name so she has no idea. He refuses to hurt her by telling her who he is. Someone is trying to unalive her and the team works to find out who it is. Rob is featured more and I enjoyed a different view of her than we’ve seen in previous books. This one is suspenseful, action packed, emotional and super steamy.
This is the 3rd book in the Vigilantes series. This book follows our most tough and brash brother Dare. To the outside he is cold, focused, and has a fortress around his heart and emotions. Until his high school sweetheart is injured in front of him and left blind. He doesn't want to tell her his true identity to protect her and also find the criminals who wanted her dead. This takes us through a mirad of emotions, confessions, and reconnection. Our FLC is the beautiful and resilient Athena. She's overcome so much and still finds it in her to spread love, peace and light. This book had twists, heartfelt connections and suspense. A true who done what!.

This story had me at Page 1. It was if I was searching too. Whoa! What the heck happened - we are not even at the end of Chapter 1 yet!!
I cannot even begin to explain how the imagery was on point. It was impossible not to feel how the characters reacted.
Darius was a broken man and my heart ached for his pain which the words so vividly brought to life. Athena was his to protect at any cost, that he’d risk her hatred and his own happiness if it meant keeping her heart safe. despite the fact he would lose her when she found out the truth of who he was.
Action, mystery, intrigue, not to mention the steamy scenes made this book impossible to put down.

Athena 👑 She was the star of the show! Passionate, levelheaded, fierce! I just love her so much. She took what was handed to her, a whole bunch of shit!!! And made the best of it. I applaud her for how she handed everything. I can’t say I would have been as forgiving as her😂 Dare! It took you so long to get there, buddy. But when you did:👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 but let’s be honest, you better worship the ground Athena walks on FOREVER because she forgave you for so much, so fast! Real talk, I loved this one. The added aspects of her temporary amnesia and blindness was such an interesting and well do portion of the book. I love how this series ties in the other books. While Dare and Athena weren’t my favorite couple, Athena will be a hard FMC to move on from. She was amazing.
The Villain - The Vigilantes Book 3 Darius Keyes and Athena Holman’s story was much anticipated and it delivered in spades. Both Darius and Athena have a shared past that did not end well, they both have deep seeded emotional issues, and they definitely have trust issues. Finding herself in some serious hot water, Dare a born protector finds it impossible to keep his distance from Athena and will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if he can’t reconcile his heart and his head. As the story evolves so does the danger and so does the second chance between Dare and Athena and the romance is combustible once the flames are stoked. An enjoyable read right to the end.
