Plagued with unpredictable suspense, this short story follows a young woman who must face her past if she wants to save her family’s future. When Dorothy receives a text message from her parents saying that everyone has arrived at the house for their get-together, she assumes everything is fine. Soon, she pulls up to her old family home as she has many of times before, expecting to step into the comforts of her endearing childhood memories and the sweet company of her parents and younger sister.
Only, she finds something is her family. No one is in the house, and pots and pans have been left suspiciously abandoned and strewn throughout the kitchen as though someone simply vanished while preparing to cook.
There’s no sign of an explanation except for a mysterious note left on the kitchen island with directions to an eerie, deserted part of town—that, and a bone-chilling message that tells Dorothy this disappearance is by no coincidence. She's been visited by an unexpected ghost from her past, and she fears she won’t be able to save her family from the dangerous repercussions of her decisions.
