In Code of Conduct, written by Scott Freidheim, readers are invited on a captivating journey through the author's remarkable life experiences, from which the author draws advice and practical wisdom. I liked the fact that the book is a fusion of personal anecdotes with profound reflections on ethics and values. The author shares stories of triumph and adversity, offering readers a wide variety of lessons learned and principles honed that I am sure will resonate with them, as they did with me. Through the different chapters exploring topics ranging from materialism to love, the writer shares not only his own experiences but also imparts actionable strategies for readers to develop their own code of conduct. I found Code of Conduct to be not only enlightening but also deeply inspiring. I think that the author’s authenticity and candour invite readers to introspect and embark on their own paths of personal growth.
Code of Conduct is a compilation of experiences, lived and written by Scott Freidheim. It's a book hard to classify because it's part autobiography, part business book, and part motivational book. The author does a great job blending his experiences with the teachings he acquired over the years, sharing what made him stronger.
Overall, it was an easy and fun read. The author has a comic way of writing, taking with humor the problems he endures, leaving the reader with moral teachings in most of the chapters. Easy to read in a couple of hours, I recommend this book to many types of readers, especially those interested in the business world.
I started Code of Conduct and thought I would love it, but shortly thereafter realized that would not be the case. While I the nuggets from each chapter will, indeed, lead to a fulfilled life reading about the author's privileged life was very off-putting to me. I did, however appreciate his use and explanation at the end that explained the symbols and flags reflected at the beginning of each chapter. I truly enjoyed the inspiring stories Mr. Freidheim shared about others in his book and I really wish that more of the book's stories had been about others than himself. While the message at the end of each chapter was educational and inspiring the stories about himself got old very quickly.
I felt like this book fell off fast. I really enjoyed the beginning but then there were strange openings to chapters that separate the reader from the author. Sitting with princes and George Foreman and so on.
Some of the stories were touching, the author seems more human then other hedgefund wall street guys, however, I felt there was a lot of boasting about his wealth and all the extraordinary things he could experience with it that us ordinary people can't.
This book was easy and quick to read. I appreciate the perspective of a highly successful and ethical individual as he reflects on his life and shares values, tips and perspective to help others.
This nonfiction account tells the life of Scott Freidheim, the author. Freidheim has led a remarkable life, and the book reads like fiction, but it’s all true. He has been through some dazzling highs and life-changing lows.
What Freidheim has dealt with and learned becomes a cautionary tale that’s tragic at points and inspirational at others. Dealing with near-bankruptcy, becoming the CEO of a major company, and rubbing shoulders with well-known figures have all turned him into the man he is today. It’s fascinating to read about all of it. What’s perhaps the most compelling aspect of the whole tale is the author’s unflinching good humor and ability to find the silver lining even when the darkest of cloud settled over him.
Would that all of us could face adversity with such poise and courage as Freidheim embodies. Perhaps simply reading about him will be enough to get us closer to such lofty ideals.
“Code of Conduct” by Scott Freidheim is a book to reflect on life. Without a doubt my favorite books are those that in addition to citing history, reflect on important life issues by bringing in philosophy to do so in a better way. This is undoubtedly one of the most complete texts and that explores many of the diverse topics related to the art of living. The author has the ability to emerge his experience, professional and personal, with history in general and also quote philosophy; what a great genius! This is a text that always invites you to question everything, from theory, from example with historical events, with the author's life but also proposes you in the present practical exercises so that you can guide yourself. It is a simple text to understand but it contains valuable information in so little. I recommend you to read this magnificent text and allow yourself to see the world from the author's perspective.
This is a gripping memoir that intertwines and mixes personal experiences with valuable life lessons. Freidheim's journey, filled with significant historical events and encounters with notable figures like Michael Jackson and George Foreman, offers readers a firsthand account of various crucial moments. The book's structure, with 32 chapters covering things such as moral threats, suggests a thoughtful exploration of ethics and values.
Overall, "Code of Conduct" is a compelling read that combines captivating storytelling with practical advice for personal growth and guidance. Whether one is an executive, aspiring leader, or simply seeking direction in life, this book offers valuable insights and inspiration. I can definitely recommend this book.
This book offers wisdom through an array of stories from 9/11 to dining with the royals, as it mixes philosophical ideas with practical advice for development. Everybody has a particular code of conduct that they live by, which are the guiding principles of life. Each chapter has stories with valuable lessons. The chapters about Love, Wisdom, Friendship, and Faith were most enjoyable. The stories are inspiring and heartwarming. I was excited to see my favorite book in the chapter about "Transmission." The Little Prince was my favorite book when I was little. I agree with the author that passing on these values to the next generation is essential; one can view it as a form of achievement. I highly recommend reading this book. It is short but highly enlightening.
Simply wonderful. Reading Code of Conduct by Scott Freidheim felt like flying while reading. Along the book, I could learn about his extraordinary life and his inspirations. Seeing the roller coaster of life through the lens of the author's own experiences, made me realize about many aspects of my personal growth that I was leaving aside. His observations and practical advice make problems look small. By offering actionable steps for personal growth and guidance, this author has become a guide for me. I like the fact that he presents all his insights in a professional yet conversational tone. I am recommending this book, for sure. As I believe, it can help all kinds of people, from an aspiring leader, or a young person just looking for direction.
Scott Freidheim has definitely had a roller coaster life! This memoir is chock full of interesting stories from his childhood through current. Each story teaches a valuable code to live by. From having parents that are well to do, to having high paying jobs himself, Freidheim has had many experiences that most don't get to have, but he seems to still be humble. The low periods of his life are also discussed. There is no chronological order to the stories, but it doesn't matter. All are interesting and most, but not all, do relate to the particular code of conduct he is trying to get across. Not your ordinary memoir, but Scott is far from an ordinary person. A very enjoyable read. #GoodreadsGiveaway

This was a very interesting book—one I'm not too sure how to define. It is part memoir, part self-help, but done in a way that keeps you engaged the entire time. While I didn't quite agree with some of what the author was trying to convey, I can appreciate that he reflects on his mistakes and willingly admits them. He for sure can claim that he's lived an eventful life; there was never a point in this where I was bored.
The narrator for this book is perfect. He carries the exact tone of the story I would expect, and his performance was wonderful.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an audiobook arc in exchange for an honest review.

A wild ride through life. The author through this book that shows specific times in his life, shows us that we are on the Rollercoaster of life and it has many ups and downs. As such, there is humor as well as pain in the chapters. The one I loved the best was the parts with the "teenage toothpick guide". Those were really funny. The entire book serves to give us the author's personal code of conduct for his life. It can serve as inspiration for our own lives, or for us to create something similar.
I was immediately drawn into the book. A story which most people know. A story that touched the lives of many and still does to this day. Though this story is not directly related to 9/11, the tragedy is part of Scott Friedheim’s story in this wonderful book called Code of Conduct. He shares the ups and downs with different stories of his life! When people share their life with others, I love those types of stories. I am glad this story was written because people will be able to relate to the different stories and adventures. I hope many are able to enjoy this book because I did.
The thing that caught my attention was the cover and the title. I felt relatable to this rollercoaster reference and I found a really interesting book. It's a memoir with a lot of life lessons from the author that touches on a lot of heavy themes of everyone’s life. I enjoy that in each chapter there are keywords and he talks about a personal experience to visualize for the reader what those words mean to him and how he realized it was important to pay attention to that. One of the most compelling ones was the chapter about balance and how he discovers how crucial it is.
