Club Pétale

Don't Hate Me

Rate this book
From Eden Emory comes an f/f spicy dark romance between an inexperienced and cold assassin and a very experienced secret service agent with a mysterious back story.

It’s been years since my first kill. I have my process down to a science.

And maybe sometimes I even allow myself to enjoy it.

But when I’m asked to infiltrate Club Pétale to get close to a target, I never expected how my entire life would shift.

Blake. An easy target.

Or at least she was supposed to be.

I’ve never felt love, but when her green eyes looked at me with such warmth, I’d like to believe it felt something like that.

But a job is a job, and no matter what, I would see the end to this.

Note: this is a dark romance with many dark themes and an unconventional pairing. Please look at the trigger warnings on the authors' website before continuing. The people in this book are full of flaws and are not good people, do not come into this book looking for a typical hero because you will not find one.

Don't Hate Me is a contemporary standalone in an interconnected series surrounding an adult club.

The Club Pétale is a series of interconnected standalones with HEA's. They do not need to be read together to be enjoyed but it is recommended that you start from Don't Stop Me.

A f/f dark romance book. This kind of theme is more common on m/f relationships so I was ecstatic to read this! Quinn and Blake are a lovely couple, a ride or die scenario. I love the plot; how their current situations brought them together, the hesitations with their feelings. Their inner thoughts/monologues are written so good that you will feel an ache in your heart when you feel their pain.

What struck me the most was Blake's secrets, the deeper I read the more her story gets unraveled -- she just wants to be free from them, from her past. And so did Quinn. I love how both of them are strong women who is willing to fight for one another. I love how there is still a plot and not just spice. You get to know the characters and their intentions.

The spicy scenes are just 😩👌. P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Perfect. You could feel the tension, feelings, the want for each other. I will definitely read more of Eden Emory's works. I don't give full 5 stars so easily but when I do, I mean it. This is worth the read specially if you are looking for a wlw spice 💚

🌸 Recieved a copy from the author but all thoughts and opinions are my own

“Tell me what you feel when you’re around me?”
“Frustration.”
“Excuse me?”
“Frustration because ever since I saw you, I found myself unable to stay away.”

OK SO THIS IS MY FAV OF THE SERIES. WOW. I love my lil murderous lesbians so much. Seriously, Blake & Quinn are just, WOW. Such a good, fast paced, plot, really excellent plot twists, and in true Eden Emory style, lots & lots of smut. Just read this series haha. It’s bingeable in the best way tbh.

avery was fr just knowing dropping everyone’s business before they even know it, love her. quinn and blake? they’re so cute and so protective of each other and fell so hard. the bond all the characters have together? absolutely precious. i love them all so much 😫😫

I am so sad that this series is over 😭. The Club Pétale series has been one of my favorite series since I've gotten back into reading. Blake has been one of my favorite characters since she was introduced, and her book definitely didn't disappoint. Quinn was everything and more! I will never not recommend this series to someone and don't get me started on that bonus epilogue😮‍💨!!! What a way to end the series 🔥🔥🔥

DNF at 50%. The assassin/target premise was great, but the execution failed. The writing was consistently disjointed and lacked continuity, which made the plot confusing. More importantly, the author failed to establish any believable attraction between the leads. Since I didn't buy the chemistry, the sex scenes felt unengaging and nothing about the book felt special. I am genuinely confused by the high ratings.

An assassin has to get close enough to a secret service agent to get intel from her so she infiltrates the sex club the agent is a regular at.

Okay, so. I thought this was supposed to be BDSM heavy. Maybe the other books are. But not this one. But this wouldn’t be the first time someone confused “BDSM club” for “sex club.”

Also, the story was pretty confusing to follow. The web was a twisty one and it was hard to follow. I don’t know. Things didn’t make sense, and I was having a hard time pressing the “believe” button.

But I really liked the assassin character. Even though she was inexperienced she had great top energy and I was taken in by her. I also liked the secret service character. So that’s what carried me through most of this book. I feel like ff books oftentimes give me a lot of characters that aren’t very compelling but I thought these two were pretty sexy.

Final note… one of the bad guys is named Russell Crowe. Like… babe. That’s a real person…

Medium burn with fisting, gun play, biting, scratching, choking, primal play, rope play, toys, sharing, and group sex.

Assassin x Target/Secret Agent so… no complaints about the spice, it’s as great as the past Club Pétale books. Ofc the MCs have an unhealthy relationship given the trope of this story, but they’re aware of it so it’s fine they’re fine ;) I actually had a great time reading their journey.

A few things that bothered me were the typos in the last quarter or so of the book, a little too often for me to completely disregard, and it felt a bit insta-love-y? I’ve already forgotten if the MCs actually got to know each other or if they just kept hooking up till they were in love🤷🏼‍♀️I also wish we had just a little more time in the club since it’s the last book, but I guess that’s what the bonus epilogue was for (speaking of, hello?? I wasn’t expecting that?? I didn’t know what to do with myself… but that part alone was enough for me to add another star to my original rating… so 4 stars, great work Emory.)

Now that was a crazy experience. We started off in the sex club and ended up with blood splattered faces. And just when I was about to complain that Ax didn't even show her old ass once...there was this bonus epilogue. Blake would just enter the room and oh there she was. With her Nyx in her lap and Sloans wife involved. And if there's a sex party then Avery sure as fuck is right there. With her own girl. So there was an orgy with every existing fmc in the entire series. What a beautiful way to end this!

This was the toughest read from the Club Pétale series leaning heavily into the darker themes-love between a professional killer and a runaway bodyguard.

The rescue for the women in servitude is a highlight and it showed the main characters' outlook on morality - Kill bad people: Sex traffickers, DV perpetrators, Corrupt leaders.

The intimate moments were a treasure too! Just remember to read the TWs.

This was a very interesting read. There were so many times where I needed to take a break from reading it, but in the end it was good. There were some stressful scenes and some VERY confusing ones. The ending concerned me because it was ALL 8 of the characters doing.... THAT. TOGETHER. LIKE NO THANKS. Anyway, we ignore :)
I'm finished the series now so you don't have to worry about me talking about it anymore ahaha

Such a great spicy dark sapphic romance, I loved the action and the dynamic of the two fmc’s❤️‍🔥 an inexperienced assassin and a secret agent who’s into bdsm?! Yes please, together they were perfect and their story is so fun! You will want more of these two for sure, I love them!

Another dark sapphic romance!!

Assassin x target

I missed the Club Petále world and was excited to get back into it and learn more about Blake.

Blake and Quinn’s story starts off a lot slower. Each of these two characters have really complex back stories, and the plot is heavier in this book than in the rest of the series.

Once these two give in to the tension between them the story starts to pick up speed. There is tons of suspense and action as the story unravels and you learn about Blake’s past and more about what Quinn has been sent to do and why.

And the spice 🔥🔥🔥. These two. Damn. Eden seamlessly weaves in spicy scenes that help move the story forward, and manages to add fun ones that break up tension when needed.

I think overall it’s a good book and I recommend reading the entire series. But as the last book in a series I was expecting it to be just a little bit stronger. I wanted more.

In the venn diagram of well written vs. entertaining, this series is exclusively in the entertaining circle with absolutely no overlap between the two, but I must clarify that I’m okay with that!! And like bffr who am I to judge

This is the first dark romance book I truly enjoyed. Not just because of the spice (there's a lot) but because Both Blake and Quinn are very interesting characters with a lot of chemistry. I'm especially intrigued with Quinn. Can't wait to read the other books in the series.

It's my first time reading Eden Emory and oh god what good books this woman writes!

Tropes
🔪Assassin and secret service
🖤Sapphic
🔪Dark romance
🖤Enemies to lovers
🔪BDSM

Quinn has been hired to kill Blake, a secret service agent who in her free time is a spicy performer. Quinn infiltrates the club where Blake does these performances, deciding to hunt down her target, but she does not expect to see his eyes and immediately become obsessed. with her...

This book is wonderful and it is too additive.

Quinn please I love her very much, she seemed to me to be a super strong character and throughout the book she grew, learned and discovered things. I haven't read the books before this one and I don't know if she had a cameo or something like that but I feel like the Quinn at the end was totally different from the one at the beginning SHE FOUND LOVE PEOPLE😩 not in who she expected but she found someone who made her feel alive

Blake loved her a lot too, she has been through a lot and although it was difficult for her to trust Quinn, she found someone willing to do anything for her well-being, take care of her and accept who she was.

I love them so much and they are gorgeous💗 also what a hotter book, it has many spicy scenes but not ones that feel unnecessary but rather that they have to be there because they contribute? I don't know the truth I didn't feel like they were filler or anything like that.

I was very fascinated by the characters in the previous books so maybe later I will sit down and read them properly🥺

This book is highly recommended for the lovers of dark romance and sapphic books.

Many thanks to Eden Emory and good girl PR for the ARC💗

Reseña en español

Es mi primera vez leyendo a Eden Emory y oh dios que buenos libros tiene está mujer!

Tropes
🔪Asesina y servicio secreto
🖤Sáfico (chicaxchica)
🔪Dark romance
🖤Enemies to lovers
🔪BDSM

starting the new year finishing one of my favorites series ever felt bittersweet at first, but i'm glad i finally allowed myself to read this after waiting for it to release for so long. and it was worth it. this surpassed any and all expectations i might have had for this story, these characters. the previous book had been perfection to me, yet this one was somehow better. everything i loved about avery and willow was heightened in quinn and blake. they were the very definition of unhinged. villainous fmcs are hard to come by, usually they have a reason for their rampage, but even then they only embrace their darkness to some extent, never truly like morally gray mmcs. but both avery in "don't forget me" and now quinn in "don't hate me" were unapologetically bad and thrived in it. moreover, their significant others didn't try to change them. on the contrary, they relished in each others' demons. who would have thought that blake, the secret agent slash performer, out of all people in club petále, would be blood thirsty? to have not one, but two lethal women felt so empowering. even in their sexuality they were murderous, it was all or nothing. to see that portrayed and not having it rooted on their femininity, or dependent on it was rewarding. how this series deconstructed so much surrounding female sexuality and gender stereotypes not only with heavy smut but female friendships and relationships alike is something i'm eternally grateful for. and if i loved the dynamic between ax and sloan, nothing could have prepared me for avery and quinn. i really do have a type and it's older, masc women with violent tendencies.

I received an e-ARC of this book and am writing this review voluntarily ☺️

I actually really loved this book! I have not read many f/f romances let alone a darker f/f romance, but man it was good!! I will admit I have not read the other books in this series, though I think I might add those to my TBR! The spice was spicy! It definitely is a dark romance so if you’re not into that, this book may not be for you.

I absolutely love an assassin x target romance so this was right up my ally 🤩. I loved the evolution of Blake and Quinn’s relationship, I can really appreciate two broken people falling in love and growing from the experience. Their relationship was truly a ride or die relationship.

I really liked that this book had a mystery element to it. That being said the eyeball obsession of Quinn’s did have me a little taken aback lol but I got over it… I didn’t realize I may have a slight eyeball phobia lol.

All in all I’m giving it a 4/5 ⭐️ rating and a 4/5 🌶️ rating!
