Immortal Blood by James m Thompson. A DESIRE BEYOND REASON As a vampire, Elijah Pike (alias Roger Neimann) has been a slave to instinct—consuming human blood to satisfy an unquenchable thirst. As a doctor, he relies on his intellect in the pursuit of a cure that will end not only his craving but also the deadly urges of others like him. AN APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION Master vampire Michael Morpheus’s last encounter with Elijah Pike, in the Louisiana bayou, left him disfigured and consumed by hatred for those he considers traitors to the race. He went underground to lick his wounds—and to gather an army of evil that will follow him in his quest for vengeance. This was a fantastic read with brilliant characters. I loved Sam tj matt and shooter. I liked the ending too. 5*. Thanks netgalley and Kensington books.
This dude has issues, 1st book was OK but by this one it's pretty obvious that vampires are just an excuse for nonstop rape porn with giant ducks. Not my cup of tea.
I wasn't a big fan of this novel. Normally I love a good vampire book, but this one just didn't cut it for me. Now that's not saying someone else may think the same!
It was of course about vampires, but the author played up the characters and they came across as beasts to me. It was maybe a little less realistic than I would have liked, and that could have been why I didn't prefer this novel.
The writing was good, but I found the characters really hard to relate to.
This is one of my favourite genre's to read. I love reading about vampires and what they get up to and that was why I picked up this book. Unfortunately this book disappointed me as I struggled to get into the book and to like the characters. Not one of the characters was my hero of one that I wanted to read more about of. I really wanted to finish this book but at 49% I just could not punish myself anymore to read only for the sake of reading.
I got this copy from Kensington books via Netgalley.
I just love the 'Blood' series. If you haven't had a chance to read them, check them out. I refuse to divulge spoilers. If you like vampires, science, medicine, grisly death scenes, and gratuitous sex then I'd wager these books are for you!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Immortal Blood is book 3 in the Elijah Pike Vampire Chronicles. I had not read the prior two books before picking up this one and didn't find myself too lost, so feel that this could be read as a standalone book. I was attracted to this book because it's a vampire novel, which is my favorite genre of book to read. For me, this was a very immature take on a vampire story. The vampires were very one dimensional and predictable. It was full of plot holes. The story contained more sex than I prefer as a reader. The sex was very violent and bloody at times, which was even more of a turn off for me. In the copy of the book I received, it was unclear when the point of view of the story would change. The characters were really annoyingly flat. There was very little character development. Overall, I had a really hard time getting into the story. It just wasn't for me, but I appreciate the opportunity to read and review.
