Nice girls are dead girls...
Good thing I’m not nice....

Tucked away in rural Connecticut, Hollow Oak University should be the perfect place to escape my past. The plan was simple. Keep my head down, focus on my studies, get my degree, and move on.

Unfortunately, death has a way of finding me.

When a human heart is found nailed to my door, the incident puts me firmly in the crosshairs of the infamous Blackwell twins.

Alister and Nixon are beautiful, brutal, and completely fixated on turning my fresh start into a nightmare. Their hands are already soaked in blood—and now they’re out for mine.

But the Blackwells aren’t my only problem.

Secrets I buried long ago threaten my future at Hollow Oak. Someone knows something they shouldn’t...and they’re willing to kill to bring the truth to light.

Virgin Sacrifice is the first book in the Dead Girls Club, a dark why choose romance series where the girl gets her psychos in the end.

❀ 𝐕𝐈𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍 𝐒𝐀𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐄 ❀ Is the first, full length why choose romance book within the (Dead Girls Club) series by new to me author L.M. Ramirez. Spoken in 'Multiple Perspectives.' Ends in a cliffy.

Not sure how I stumbled across this book, but that synopsis had me stalking it, once it arrived on my iPad unashamedly it was inhaled.

This was like a game of cat and mouse, me placing each tidbit the author fed me into a maze of a puzzle, one minute clarity thinking I knew how things were going to play out, only to be blindsided, left confused, not understanding what was clearly in black and white right in front of me as I stumbled over the cliffy I clearly didn’t understand. Still sitting her mulling over everything that led to that point.

Still confused

Who's the killer on campus, girls going missing only to turn up strategically placed.

The investigators chasing their tails

No clues left behind

This wasn’t spicy or romantic in any sense of the word, but something big is coming, you can feel it building up in the background.

She fascinates them, which in turn turns them on their axis and frustrates the living daylight out of them.

She’s on 4 Mens radar

Usually my books are steepled in darkness or spice, this had neither but I was still enthralled with the storyline which has me invested enough though to see how the author is going to weave the next book.

Another dark romance buddy read with Sarah!

After the boring contemporary wannabe fantasy romance that was Bride, I'm hoping this is a breath of fresh toxic air.

After finishing this book, I still can't get over how Luz's econ professor wants to KILL her because she wouldn't drop his 200 level class. Like???? Lmfao I can't take this seriously, y'all.

Other than that, this was a quick read and a fun dark thriller. Luz gives off major pick-me vibes though. I wanted to like her but the more I read on, the more "I'm not like other girls" she came off as. Meh.

I'll read the next one if Sarah wants to. She has me in a chokehold with these nonsensical dark romances.

may a friend like luz torres NEVER find me 🙏🏼

She was so bitchy and judgmental towards her "friends". Justice for Autumn because she deserved a better friend.

Luz came across as stuck up to me like she thought she was better than everyone (especially her friends) this would've been fine if I knew she was in fact better than them but so far she hadn't done shit to prove it.

I understood that it was written this way probably for a reason; a plot twist or a reveal but the execution was poor and I don't think I have the patience. Luz was insufferable. Someone needed to ego check her.

I also don't think the writing style is for me. It felt stiff and the conversations didn't flow and didn't seem realistic.

It also spent too much time describing useless stuff like the outfits she wore. I do not care about Luz's obsession with looking like a french schoolgirl with outfits straight out of pinterest, this ain't dress to impress.

I was excited for the professorxstudent plot but Locke (the professor) acted like a spoiled brat, it was NOT attractive at all lmao he gave me the biggest ick. He was mean to Luz just because he could and because she made his dick hard when she first walked into the classroom 🧍🏼‍♀️ how about no

I *might* continue because I kinda liked Alister and Everest but it's not like they're unique either 😭

It’s very much giving ‘Gossip Girl’ vibes and I mean that with the utmost respect.

For context, it features a poor FMC (with a scholarship) surrounded by rich MMC’s with ridiculous amounts of money. She is essentially trying to navigate their world, while this big mystery is looming over them. So kind of similar to the plot of ‘Gossip Girl’. Very loosely.

The FMC always sounds really refined and acts extremely mature. This may be due to her early trauma and the upbringing she had after the fact. She had to grow up a quicker. Her upbringing was very allusive at the start of the book, as she often references having money and then struggling with money. I was a little confused how this plot point was going to develop, but it does make sense in the end though.

In the first 6%, she was yet to speak to anyone. There seems to be a lot of paragraphs dedicated to explaining her past and listening to her inner thoughts. I would have preferred to have more spoken interactions with other, instead of reading long paragraphs from the characters pov, but I understand this choice went hand in hand with her being a loner.

The Men 🙏🏻

Locke - Professor and very much a rich prick. I really liked him though, not my favourite but a close second.

Allister - My favourite. Very much the sexy silent type. He doesn’t even need words really. Preferred approach is to ‘watch and wait’. A twin.

Nixon - Man of Action. Also a twin. He is the talker out of the two of them, but I think this is preferred.

Lucien - Big boss man. Not really mentioned. They call him the ‘older cousin’ a lot, but I’m not sure how much older. May not even be apart of the harem.

Everest - Silent assassin type. He hasn't really made an appearance until like 91% and then suddenly his full crazy comes out and i have to admit it was glorious. He hilarious and kind of argues like a toddler, which I enjoyed reading.

There is no smut at allll. There is definitely suspense, sexual tension and some near misses do occur. I think for most of the book I was like for Christ sake kiss already. We did finally get one kiss at 88%, so at least we have that. I can’t really be mad at it though because the author mentioned in the ‘content warning’ that this was a slow burn and that the spice doesn’t really occur till the next book. She declared it in black & white and I still act surprised. Very much a me problem.

VISUAL AIDS WERE USED. This is a very important point. I love when they give me a map or in this case a family tree, it’s just so helpful. At one point I was trying to guess how people were connected and then I remembered that it was there. A+ on the attention to detail. Also the cover !!!!! I ♥️♥️♥️ it. It honestly is really beautiful and looks so visually appealing. I swear the covers for books I’m reading lately are outstanding.

I will definitely be reading the next book. That cliffhanger was just 🤯🤯🤯 Was not expecting it at all. Solid 3.5 ⭐️.

Sidenote for Vee (before you read the next book)-Autumn is a sketchy b*tch and we don’t trust her. This has in no way been implied or proven, we just have a feeling. It may be because she is overly nice.

Y’all, why did I think Virgin Sacrifice was a vampire book? LOL

Even though it wasn’t, I still really enjoyed this dark academia, why choose romance that is a true slow burn! I mean there is almost no romance in this whatsoever, which was a really nice change of pace after a month chock-full of romance. Ramirez’s writing is lush and descriptive, and I really feel like this is a perfect autumnal read between the college campus and the exploration of the seasons changing/the weather!

This was one of those books that made me remember I used to be a thriller reader, because I was needlessly terrified of/sus’d out by characters that were seemingly decent people, and entertained by the overtly terrible people. I was completely worn out by the end LOL.

I wasn’t really going for the romance to be honest—between any of them. I’m hopeful that this will change with the final book in this duet, but I believe we are meant to see that four men want Luz, but I felt like I got three men who were crazy and got off on being mean to Luz, and one man who was crazy and never met Luz but was obsessed anyway? I didn’t find them redeemable or even all that distinctive from one another, and I especially hated that more than once Luz’s Latina identity was shot down/disrespected by at least one of them.

I liked Luz, but I also wanted ~more~ from her. I didn’t understand why all the guys were hyper-fixated on her—which I think is part of the mystery to be resolved in book 2. I think Luz’s backstory could’ve used more fleshing out to make it stand more firmly in its place within the story, but again, I hope this is explored more in book 2.

This was a compelling, interesting, and unique debut and I look forward to reading more!

"The first time I died, I assumed it would be my last."

Co-eds mysteriously disappearing from campus, a heroine with an enigmatic past, blue blood families hiding sinister secrets, beautiful, rich, young people having inappropriate relationships in an academic setting--this novel was like a The CW soap in the best way.

Add me on Instagram | StoryGraph | Fable | Threads

Summary:
Luz Torres prefers to go unnoticed. As a scholarship student at elitist Hollow Oak University, Luz just wants to study global languages and economics, graduate, and maybe indulge in the occasional premium coffee along the way. Unlucky for Luz, she keeps drawing unwanted attention.

Late to ECON200 on the first day, Luz incurs Professor Locke Blackwell's wrath--and obsession.

Not only is the Blackwell family for founding the university, they are also rumored to have a longstanding history as high-end hitmen. They run the university AND the town. Needless to say, someone whose bad side you'd want to avoid.

When Luz refuses to drop his class, Dr. Blackwell decides to make her life hell; he needs to see Luz break.

Meanwhile, the Blackwells have their hands full. Someone is peddling drugs on their turf, not to mention that Hollow Oak U girls have been going missing. After a mysterious hooded figure nails a pig heart to Luz's door, she becomes a person of interest to two more Blackwells. Twins and fellow students Alister and Nixon Blackwell start tailing Luz.

Something sinister is happening at HOU and it seems like everyone has it out for this straight-A freshman. But Luz Torres is not one to be underestimated.

Review:
Umm, I'm ready for Book 2, please???

Once I got past the uncomfortably realistic university setting (faculty? students? campus? my nightmare *shudders*), the drama completely drew me in. This novel was so much fun to read--the "just one more chapter and then I swear I'm actually going to do all the stuff I'm supposed to be doing right now" kind. For fans of psychopaths, stalkers, dark academia, Pretty Little Liars, and 'Why Choose?'.

random notes:
-great first line; narration hooks you in right away
-Luz is a style icon
-fantastic tension-building
-sharp-witted humor
-very descriptive, beautiful visuals, lux setting
-I loved that Luz is not afraid to say what she thinks
-as an astrology girlie--like Autumn--I loved that we got the characters' star signs. They completely fit, and give (astrology-obsessed) readers deeper insight into the characters
-I really enjoyed Luz & Autumn's friendship! I appreciated that Autumn as a secondary character was dimensional (and also a style icon)
-as someone who is absolute trash for an unhinged fictional man (aren't we all?), I obviously adored Everest.
-I do wish we'd gotten more chapters from the guys. That's the downside of 'why choose?' -- I felt like we barely got to know the mmcs, especially Locke and Everest. Hopefully in the next book.
-always check content warnings before reading
-heads up: the mmcs are pretty misogynistic, so avoid if that's going to bother you

4/5⭐️
⭐️Is it engaging/entertaining? Yes.
⭐️Is it creative? Yes.
⭐️Did I like it? Yes.
⭐️Does it foreground voices historically underrepresented in its genre/mainstream lit? Yes, Latina fmc & author
❎Does it subvert expectations/transgress literary norms? No.

2/5🌶️ (very little, but k!nky)

4.5⭐️ I cannot believe this is a debut novel. The writing is SO amazing. It’s smart and descriptive without being too wordy. If you liked the pacing and the slow burn of the bonds that tie or the witsec series you will LOVE this. It had me hooked from the beginning and I can’t wait for the next book when they all bang.

PS how stunning is that cover????? Obsessed!!

Stop . . . start . . . stop . . . start . . . How many times can you break a heart?

This book had me hooked from the opening line:
The first time I died, I assumed it would be my last.

From there, a well-crafted, suspense-filled, enemies-to-lovers romance was revealed. This book is slow-burn, but there’s just something about the FMC, Luz that brings all the psychos out to play, so her potential harem of unhinged males is growing.

This book ends on a cliffhanger - I look forward to more from this freshman author! Well done!

Genre: Dark Academia Romance
Tropes/Features: Dark elements, enemies to lovers, age gap, professor/student, elite college, family of villains, secrets, obsession, stalker(s), strong FMC, twins, brothers, unhinged MMC
Narrator: Multiple 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: Why Choose MFM??, slow burn, very low spice (simmering attraction)
Book Type/Ending: Dead Girl’s Club Book One, cliffhanger

You want to read this one! The writing style is beautiful and fast-paced. You get multiple POVs, which I tend to gravitate towards. Our FMC is strong and devious with a tragic back story. There are multiple morally grey MMCs and a touch of gothic academia. The plot is intricate and well thought out. I can not wait to see where this series takes us.

There is spice, but it's minimal. I'd say there is potential for it to heat up as the story unfolds.

This is an ARC review

Dead Girls Club Book 1.

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤/5
I’ll give the spice built up a 4/5 because let’s be real honest here the burn is good!

First of all I just wanna salute @lmramirez_writer, She did an excellent work on this debut! I lost sleep over it! &loved every moment of it! The female Latin representation was everything and connecting to an fmc through this is always a soft spot for me.

Set in rural Connecticut at the elite Hollow Oak University, serious scholarship student-Luz Torres, captures the attention of many, but it’s the Blackwells who decide they want her..and everyone knows that the Blackwells always get what they want.

We have tattooed bad boy twins, Alister and Nixon, their cousin, D-hole Econ professor Locke Blackwell and the psycho serial killer, but surprisingly charming blonde-Everest Blackwell by association (professional unaliver)

Luz has a secret, and they’re determined to cut her open and spill them (figuratively speaking), if only they can figure out why women around campus are disappearing and ending up dead, first. Is Luz the next target? Can she protect herself?

This is a very slow burn but the tension is so built up and high that we just know we just know! That when it does it’s gonna be so explosive!! This book does end on a cliffhanger and it’s everything to keep you on your knees begging for the next book.

Tropes: stalker, masked men, serial-unaliver, virgin heroine, secret identity, childhood trauma, family secrets, student/teacher, age gap, high angst, Forced proximity

Wow wow wow. Luna. This was beautiful. Thrilling. My heart was racing the second half. I loved all the little hidden details (they were not missed, I saw. I noted and I loved watching my suspicions come to fruition) I absolutely loved Luz. Dare I say she’s my most favorite female MC ever? The Blackwell men give me DOV vibes but better written, more developed and distinguishable (yes I went there and I stand by it). I don’t even know where to begin. I will absolutely be eagerly waiting for the next books. I need more immediately. Perfect mix of thriller, why choose, stalker, serial killer and dark academia. The tension… DELICIOUS. The tension and story was so good I didn’t mind not having spice in this book (which if you know me is HUGE). This is easily on my top ten favorite books I’ve read. Absolutely stunning writing, enticing plot, deep characters and details sprinkled throughout for true crime lovers to feed off of. Brilliant.

💀HOT AF Twins, a sociopath, and a grumpy professor
💀 Dark academia and gothic vibes
💀 So many secrets!
💀 Secret Identity
Please read TW/CW there are themes and contents that aren't for the faint of heart. Please read responsibly!

Thanks so much for the ARC from the Author's debut novel.

This is why chose romance with a very slow burn romance, but my brain read it differently, I read it as a thriller with little steam, but I think we're gonna build up to the romance later on in the next book or so. Luz! Love her and she's downright relatable. We are following a strong, intelligent, clever, sassy, and multilingual who doesn't take BS from anyone! All she wants to do is go on with her new life and get her degree at the elite Hollow Oak University. Still, destiny had other plans, especially if it involved the elusive family, the Blackwells, plus the serial killer pet.

The spice may be low, but tensions are high. Luz is trying to survive hearts being delivered to her, the Blackwells, mysterious deaths, and a cray cray stalker. I don't blame her for having trust issues cause I don't trust anyone either cause they are SUSPISH AF!

In this book, You will expect more learning about the lore of this town, Luz's experience adjusting to her new place, and uncovering more of Luz's life plus the Blackwells. So, I didn't really think of the romance aspect that much anymore. My brain was too busy to figure out the K!ller.
I love the men Professor Locke gives I hate you, but I am obsessed with your vibes; we have the unhinged hot twins Ali and Nix, plus my favorite, the psycho EVEREST. For real, he is.

I am hoping to get more from Everest and Locke. There are still unanswered questions in the book, but Its exciting to see what happens with the aftermath! Because I'm so hung up on Everest at the moment ngl! Love the Final girl trope and hope Luz blows the mind of the Blackwells and Everest even more.

This. Was. So. Much. Fun.

My best advice for any reader is to go into this one blind—IF YOU CAN. You’re sure to see reviews and ravings about this one everywhere, but it’s SO MUCH FUN to know as little about this story and the characters as possible, because doing so made for such an incredible experience.

If you’re like me, you’ll be enticed enough just by knowing it’s a Why Choose series. And with that being said, the pacing of the relationships is IDEAL to me. Nothing here in book one is rushed, but you see those attachments and infatuations form and it’s so, SO EXCITING. And each male character is his own type of possessive man and it’s EXCELLENT.

Luz, her backstory, the series of events that unfold here in book one are all what make this a story worth staying up late for. This is the type of book that gets you outta book slumps, gets you excited about reading again, cures all your literary ills.

This was dark, twisty fun, and I look forward to the next installment. That cliffhanger was BRUTAL.

Genre: Dark Academia, gothic fantasy, serial killer

Main Concepts: Dark Academia. The MC, Luz, attends a college with lots of dark secrets and killers running the show. And if that’s not enough, Luz has got her very own secrets she’s hiding from readers. Lots of dark murder vibes with a bunch of hot dudes stalker the MC, what’s not to love?!

World building: Set in a dark college town, the author does paint a nice visual and I can def see the places in my head. All the pieces come together nicely and it’s not too overwhelming.

Spice level: No spice in this one but it is coming. The build up is SLOWWW.

Overall thoughts: I really enjoyed this book! There are so many twists and turns that it stays interesting and hooks you. I was REALLY into the last chapter and then BAM, a cliff hanger. I am actually dying for the next book. I NEED TO KNOW MORE!

Tropes: Enemies to lovers, stalkers, age gap, villain gets the girl

Book review: Virgin Sacrifice (Dead Girls Club) by L.M. Ramirez
⭐️: 5 of 5
🌶️: 5 of 5
📚: 326 pages
💬: “Dead girls had nothing to lose, so we never gave up. Not to sheep and cowards who hid in the shadows. Not when we had lost so much already at the hands of the devil himself. Death was inevitable. Life was the contradiction..”

Read it if you like:
✔️ Dark romance
✔️ Slow burn
✔️ Why choose tale
✔️ Murder mystery
✔️ Bada$$ FMC
✔️ Flashbacks

BLURB: “Luz (FMC) is restarting her life at Hollow Oak University l and all she wants is to keep her head down, focus on studies, get her degree, and disappear. But the gothic campus is not the safe haven she had hoped for. Girls are vanishing without a trace. And, despite her efforts to remain unnoticed, trouble continues to stalk her. Trouble like the Blackwells and their pet serial killer.
Her secrets were always meant to stay buried.. Will Hollow Oak become her graveyard?”

🖤 I’m still processing what I’ve read now… this book was amazing! Not only kept me glued to it (I honestly couldn’t put it down) but it’s filled with action, plot twists, angst, s3xua!tension, secrets and power! I love how much mystery there is in it, it makes you want to reveal all the secrets and trust me, there’s SO many. Liz is such an awesome character and I was surprised with how much this girl can handle, she’s a boss! The s3xua! tension between her and all the Blackwell men is just insanely hot. This book is so well written in a way that captivates the reader to want more and more and well… here I am, wanting and needing book # 2 SO BAD

The ending had my mind blown in so many ways that it gave me whiplash!

ARC review - Spoilers ahead

First if all I loved this book, very twisty turny and suprising! It's got a vibe of Zodiac Academy and a bit of Bonds That Tie but without magic (so far at least but I generally don't know if it stays that way or not for book 2).

Luz (Who despite being fervently against people judging her proceeds to judge everyone at first glance) is our heroine who is obviously smort as hell and very driven to succeed in her studies. She's a fashionista on a budget who swears she has nothing nice to wear to parties but somehow produces a magically appearing white dress in the final act from the depths of her talented seamstress closet 🤨. She uses her sweetness as a weapon instead of the usual smart ass heroine, she's sneaky and quick thinking - but also dedicated to the long con.

Her Beaus begin to reveal themselves as psychotic killers who either want to punish Luz or hold her? Maybe both. Probably both. Anyways, it's okay that they kill people because they're not drug dealers. That would be truly abhorrent if they dealt drugs. Couldn't bone them if that was the case, a girls gotta have standards y'know? And of course they're hot, tall and covered in silly little tattoos and couture clothing. Ali is my fave so far, I'm expecting Ever to be a crazy Gremlin who snuggles.

While Luz continually assures us the reader that she isn't friendly (true Scorpio mood, I should know) and she find people generally distasteful she manages to make a friend who she treats with motherly affection while simultaneously finding her kinda *icky* (again, 🦂). And I love Autumn, she's a good friend and person who cajoles Luz into trying to y'know, enjoy a bit of life (we know, ew.). Autumn is our home girl and I hope she makes it out alive.

The plot - at first I thought alright this is gonna be pretty basic and obvious but, i was again surprised to not have the usual outcome of girlneeding to be rescued by big strong man. Instead we got Luz who doesn't need no dickhole man to save her. In fact, they should be the ones to run away because I think she's after them next.

Very minimal issues with this book other than a few spelling mistakes and the fact that my Kobo kept closing and marking the book as finished every few chapters which meant I had to read it on my phone *gag* but I'm not sure whose fault that is. Likely my Kobo or the file was kind of corrupt. Not the authors fault obv.

My only REAL problem with this book was that the 90's/early 2000s were referred to as the noughties. What is that? What? How dare!!! (Edit: I have been informed about NOUGHTIES and I am just out of touch at the ripe age of 31)

Really looking forward to book 2!!!! And the promised steam because damn, that lead up in this book has got me feral.

Read this book. Or else.

This is the first book in a super slow burn, why choose series following our heroine Luz and the hot af unhinged men that are all obsessed with her!

Set in rural Connecticut at the elite Hollow Oak University, serious scholarship student-Luz Torres, captures the attention of many, but it’s the Blackwells who decide they want her..and everyone knows that the Blackwells always get what they want.

Enter the tattooed bad boy twins-Alister and Nixon (Blackwell), their cousin, the super hot A-hole Econ professor-Locke (Blackwell), and the psycho serial killer, but surprisingly charming blonde-Everest (Blackwell-by-association).

Luz has a secret, and they’re determined to uncover it..if only they can figure out why women around campus are disappearing and ending up dead, first. Is Luz the next target? Can she protect herself? Are the Blackwells secretly involved?

This is a plot heavy, super slow burn..but the tension is built up so high that you just know when it happens in future books in the series, it’s gonna be explosive! We get all the cozy and mysterious dark academia vibes, which makes this the perfect book for this time of year!

L.M. Ramirez did an excellent job with this debut and I’m loving the Latinx representation! I can’t wait to see this story progress bc it ends on a gnarly cliffhanger and I have so many questions!! Highly recommend for fans of why-choose & slow burn! Even more so if you love a good dark academia vibe!

Tropes: slow burn, stalker, masked men, serial-unaliver, virgin heroine, secret identity, childhood trauma, family secrets, student/teacher, age gap, high angst, and I’m sure others I’m forgetting at the moment!

Title: Virgin Sacrifice
Author: LM Ramirez
Genre: Dark College
Spice: Yes 🥵
Series: Dead Girls Club, book 1

Thoughts - can we take a second for this cover !!! The way this story had me in a chokehold 🫠 the character building and suspense was everything. I kept switching my mind over who was doing what and nothing panned out how I expected. THE LAST CHAPER !!! Ughhh it’s phenomenal! I know we don’t have favourites but Ever, feel free to follow me 😂. The spice is minimal in this (book 1) BUT with the tension and teasing you don’t miss it. An amazing debut and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2.

Plot - starting over in a new town is never easy but when you add starting at an elite college where you professor has it out for you, the kings of the school keep watching you and someone is stalking you… it gets a little exhausting! But dammmmm is it interesting.

* Mystery
* Why Choose
* Stalker
* Slow burn

“He pressed on into me, capturing me firmly between him and the wall. My tongue fought back against his as if I could repel him at the very same time that I clawed against him for more.”

Virgin Sacrifice by L.M. Ramirez is a dark why choose romance. This is the first book in the Dead Girl's Club series.

This is L.M. Ramirez debut novel and she knocked it out of the park. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed getting Luz, Locke, Alister, Everest, and Penelope's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ended on an amazing cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for her to announce the release date for Lady Killer.

I would highly recommend this book if you're looking for a dark romance, why choose romance, stalker romance, age gap romance, or romantic suspense.

I was on Instagram scrolling along and came across the cover for Virgin Sacrifice!
Let me start by saying WOW the cover is gorgeous!! 🤩
It took about a week to get the book but as soon as I downloaded it I dove in!

From the first chapter I was hooked.
Luz (the FMC) has this mystery surrounding her, I was immediately drawn to her and couldn't wait to find out what it could be.
All the characters that we are introduced to play an important role in the story, and there's a love/ hate relationship with each one of them.
Everest is fast becoming one of my favorite characters, he had me laughing out loud by the end of the book and I can't wait to see more of him in Book 2!

Although there is no spice, you don't feel let down or that it's lacking in any way. The sexual tension is there and that's just as good!
The definition of slow burn romance: A love story with combustible chemistry, where you can feel the heat before the characters even make it to the bedroom.
And this is exactly what vibe Luz and the Blackwell men give off! 🥵🔥

This story is full of mystery and angst, I was so into the story that I started speed reading and had to slow myself down so I didn't miss anything.
I am definitely going to be recommending this book to any one that will listen. If you are a fan of slow burn, enemies to lovers, horror with a tad of gore, and virgin FMC then this is definitely a story for you.

For those of you wondering, this does end with a cliffhanger... but it's an ending you will not see coming! 😲🤯

I AM OBSESSED......

The secrets, the stalking, texting, the darkness, the tension, oh my oh my incredible! Luz is incredible, i'm so excited to get to know her better, uncover all of her secrets, along with the guys. Because she also has some darkness in her, the way she can take care of her self, how she can put on a mask and play with everyone is so good! The guys are just straight up bad, they know it and they don't hide it from anyone. Everybody knows not to mess with them, they have made such a name for themselves but Luz is not scared, oh no because these guys have that same darkness that she has.... We have twins, we have the professor, whe have the hitman, i mean do i need to say anymoreeee..

Check triggers before reading and be prepared for an epic cliffhanger that will make you scream. This book was incredible and addicting and so good!

L.M. Ramirez nailed it with this book! The thriller aspect, the slow burn spice, the wondering what the heck was really going on. This book was dark and it was fun to read.

Luz is a college freshman just trying to keep her head down and make good grades. Unfortunately life has other plans for her.
The Blackwell family is well known around the town, seeing as how they were the founders. All the men in this family are powerful (and hot) and they know it. Their orbit becomes entangled with Luz, which is frustrating to everyone involved.

When disappearances on campus start happening and someone leaves threatening messages for Luz, the stakes become personal.

The thriller aspect of this story was outstanding. My heart was pounding more than once while reading. No one is quite what they seem to be on the surface. I'll admit I was suspicious of just about everyone.

The flashbacks Luz had of her relationship with her Mami were some feel good moments in a darker story.
Also, I love the insider details Everest Collins is able to provide. His point of view was quite interesting. A very unique character.

*Check the TW on this one. Some parts are...heartbreaking to say the least.*

I received an ARC of this book from the author. Thank you! All opinions are my own.

I REALLY wish that I had the second book already because that ending left me needing more ASAP (don’t worry I harassed the author and she said she’s already working on book two so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long).

I can’t believe that this is a debut novel, the writing style would have led me to believe she was a much more experienced author and I can not wait to see what she does next!

Virgin Sacrifice is a slow burn, why choose, dark academia novel set at an elite East Coast college where the town is rumored to be run by a family of professional killers. Despite their seemingly endless power, they don’t seem to be involved in the recent string of missing girls.

Our main girl Luz, a scholarship student that has secrets of her own, has somehow attracted the attention of every psycho in town.

This is the first in the Dead Girls Club and established a story that I can’t not wait to read more of! I would definitely recommend for fans of dark, why choose romance, with a ton of mystery!

Thanks to the author for the ARC! This has been my honest review

Man. This book had me on from sentence one. There's so much I wanna talk about but I can't say without spoiling it ( Let's just say this book is definitely a chefs kiss.
The slow burn, why choose, villain gets the girl had me .
I can't say enough that I loved this book so much.
I read this whole 400 page book in one sitting. A lot of books don't hook me on like that and that's why this one has a 5 star.
The cliffhanger left me feeling empty and so ready for the next book!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars rounded up!

My first impression of this book was how stunning the cover is! This is easily one of the best covers to a novel I’ve seen lately! I also really appreciated a Blackwell family tree in the beginning is the book.

This is a dark academia style book. I loved the FMC, Luz, immediately due to her brains and tenacity. This book has multiple POVs but the author does a great job in utilizing them only when they add to the story.

This last few chapters include a twist that I was not expecting and I hope we find out more on it in the next book! It does end in a cliffhanger that was totally unexpected to me.

There is no spice but I foresee multiple enemies becoming lovers. The tension is THICK between Luz and the Blackwells. This is how slow burn enemies to lovers should be.

Overall, I can’t wait for the next book!

I received an ARC from the author and I am leaving an honest review.

Virgin Sacrifice by L.M Ramirez
Rate:5⭐️

This is definitely in my top 5 books for the year. I sped through it in a single day. It was so good and left me wanting more. All of the characters were so detailed! In this why choose story you get some of everyone from a professor, to twins, hell even a killer, there’s literally most of a family pinning for this stunning bad ass FMC. I was obsessed with each of the MMC’s having their own nicknames for Luz. As far as dark academia goes this was absolutely amazing. There were parts that literally had me gasping in surprise. I loved hearing Luz’s dark past and don’t even get me started on her sense of style. The only thing wished there were more of in the story is Everest, him and his crazy obsession with Luz was everything. We love a bit of crazy killer. Everyone says your past catches up with you, and Luz’s certainly is! I truly cannot wait for book two!

I absolutely plan to add a physical copy of this to my bookshelf, I’m obsessed!

I received this ARC for an honest review. From the beginning I wanted, no needed to know Luz’s secrets. When I finally found them out I was blown away. This book is well written, the world building is phenomenal. I would of liked some spice but the teasing and playing between the twins and Luz was enough to wet my appetite. That cliffhanger though! I can’t wait for the next book!
