Journey back in time to explore one the most fascinating and influential periods of ancient history.
In this concise and incredibly readable short history, Dr Ellie Mackin Roberts journeys from the warrior societies of The Bronze Age all the way to the invention of democracy during the golden age of Athens, charting the incredible rise and fall of the Greek world and revealing just how much the Greeks influenced the world we live in today, from art and philosophy to architecture and politics.
Brief Ancient Greece is the perfect short introduction for anyone interested in the Greek world and all it has to offer.
One of 4 English books in the Spanish Museum of History. Two of which were on Ancient Greece. Interesting concept. A good read. I now understand why this book was really there, too. Greece is the real starting point of European and Western culture. This book is a good, brief telling of all this. The only problem is, thus, its denseness for such a "short read."
Picked this up randomly at indigo and finished it in one evening. This is exactly how I like to read history books. Short, to the point and engaging. This book while short has so much information on Ancient Greece and truly dives into each aspect of the ancient society in such an interesting and intellectual way.
