Anna Elliott is an author of historical fiction and fantasy. She enjoys stories about strong women, and loves exploring the multitude of ways women can find their unique strengths. She was delighted to lend a hand with the Sherlock & Lucy series, and thrilled to continue a new spin-off series featuring Becky and Flynn. Her first series, the Twilight of Avalon trilogy, is a retelling of the Trystan & Isolde legend. She wrote her second series, The Pride & Prejudice Chronicles , chiefly to satisfy her own curiosity about what might have happened to Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and all the other wonderful cast of characters after the official end of Jane Austen’s classic work.
This is a kindle e-book novel from my Kindle Unlimited account book five in the series.
Becky and Flynn are in London involved in a search for clues to spies. Things go side ways with Flynn and Sherlock Holmes disappearing. Flynn and Sherlock end up on a submarine with Becky and a friend on a British warship. All ends will.
I would recommend this series and author to fans of Sherlock Holmes and British mystery novels. 2024 👒😀🎉😍
I received a copy of "Star-Sown Sky" in exchange for an honest review. This was a wonderful continuation of Flynn and Becky's story during WW 1. It picks up from the end of "Safe you Sleep". It is an unputdownable story with well researched material. I highly recommend this book
Becky and Flynn are adults and in love. *sigh* But they find themselves in a pickle! Sherlock is captured and now Flynn is too!!! This was intense and had me on the edge of my seat with worry waiting for what's next. The end of chapter 47 left me gobsmacked and with a thin thread of hope for them all. The end of chapter 62 had me beaming ear to ear. What a stimulating adventure.
I love this series. It’s cute and cozy, but the mystery elements still have enough gravity to be engaging. Mystery with a little bit of romance is my favorite genre at the moment, and this book executes it perfectly. Sherlock being disguised as a different character in each book makes me laugh every time. I look forward to more Becky and Flynn in the next book.
I was overjoyed to be offered the chance to receive an advance reader copy of this book. It did not disappoint. For those not yet familiar with this series, it is a spinoff of the Sherlock and Lucy books, featuring a daughter of Sherlock Holmes. The Flynn of this series is a former Baker Street Irregular, now grown up and a soldier in the Great War (WW I), a major by the time of this book. Becky is Lucy's sister-in-law, now a doctor with battlefield hospital experience, but experiencing some of the prejudice against female doctors. As this book starts, they are both back in the UK, and struggling with when and how to tell the family members about the strong feelings they have developed for each other, beyond their long-time friendship. Meanwhile, a nemesis of Sherlock's, a Frenchman working as a German intelligence operative, is making waves again, and Becky and Flynn get drawn into a dangerous situation that threatens their lives and imperils their potential future together. I will give no hints as to the nature of the threat, but rather encourage you strongly to read the book and immerse yourself thoroughly in the developments. Be prepared for some wonderfully evocative descriptions of Mycroft Holmes, among others. The writing is superb.
What an amazing book. Finally, Becky and Flynn admit that they love each other. Unfortunately, the war keeps putting obstacles in their path. Mycroft is still in the hospital, recovering from the gunshot from LeClare. Becky and Flynn have to find Sherlock, who appears to have been kidnapped, leaving behind a cryptic message. Then Flynn gets kidnapped trying to find Sherlock, leaving Becky to find Sherlock and Flynn and save them from a kidnapper willing to exchange them for Mata Hari! Yes, that Mata Hari. And if that isn't enough, one of Sherlock former adversaries show up looking for his help. Do they know Mata Hari. Can they help Becky rescue Sherlock and Flynn?
What a fast paced plotline. And a lot of twists. I really enjoy reading about the grownup adventures if Becky and Flynn. But at the same time, I love reading the Sherlock and Lucy books with Becky and Flynn still in their early teen years.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. My review is voluntary and honest. I highly recommend not only this book and series but the entire Sherlock and Lucy books. This is my favorite adaptations of the Sherlock Holmes books.
Coming right after 'Safe you Sleep' this story has it all: danger, spies, submarines, Sherlock Holmes in disguise and even a little bit of romance :P
I'm always happy when there is a new book in this series, I simply adore these two, and you can say we have seen them grow up from little, devious rascals to the brave, smart adults they are now.
The story is really enthralling and, for moments, the suspense is almost unbearable. But then, there are also cosy, tender moments that never break the pace of the story.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: this series is a marvel :D
This is my first foray into this series and there is certainly an unusual twist on a Sherlock Holmes story. It is interesting in its historical elements of the outbreak of WW1 and the espionage that ensued. There are strong characters that push the boundaries of imagination a little. I am certainly going to investigate more of this series and find out the back story to Flynn and Becky and the bond that has been formed between them.
Star-Sown Sky: A Becky & Flynn WWI Mystery is book #5 in the Becky and Flynn Mystery series by Anna Elliott.
Another great addition to the series. Becky and Flynn are in love. I enjoy seeing how the characters have grown. This is an enjoyable historical read. I recommend this book and series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was given this book free as an ARC reader, and this is my honest opinion. I loved the story with a missing Sherlock Holmes that Becky and Flynn are trying to find. A cryptic message leads them to an old "friend" of Sherlock's. Intrigue with a very happy ending. Another great book by Anna Elliott.
If this book were a TV show, the suspense would be equally intense! Spies, chases, gun battles, and character cameos all yank the reader around like an Indiana Jones high-speed chase! Also, it's always more interesting when Sherlock Holmes is in deeper trouble than usual....
This series was truly a source of enjoyment and entertainment. As a fan of Sherlock Holmes, I found this story line intriguing. Actually meeting the Irregulars as adults was a great concept. This along with strong storytelling ability of the author is why I highly recommend this series.
Always glad to visit the world of Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James. This is a great addition to the primary series of books. It brings the characters into WW1 with secret missions, spies, intrigue, and plenty of mystery.
Another excellent addition to this series. The Becky and Flynn story continues to evolve and develop. Looking forward to the next installment as the two kids move closer toward marriage. Write faster, Anna! Thanks for a great series.
I've been a Sherlock fan for decades, since I read the full Doyle cannon in college. This series is one of the best spinoffs I've ever found. Original, fun, great mystery. Character you can care about and follow. All around 5 stars.
I enjoyed some of the insights into WWI. The mystery and intrigue were very enthralling. I look forward to more stories involving this duel. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Becky and Flynn's story continues, and it does help if you have read the previous stories in the series and the companion Sherlock and Lucy James series.
December 28th 1915. Mycroft is still in hospital after being shot while at his flat, but it seems that Sherlock has been missing since Christmas day. Can Major Flynn and Becky find and rescue him. But not all goes to plan. Another entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its hint of romance. With its cast of varied and very likeable characters it is a good addition to this enjoyable series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sherlock Holmes has gone missing and when the gang try to find him, Flynn gets captured as well. Like the little terrier that she is, Becky (and of course Lucy too) is determined to find them and bring them home, irrespective of what dangers she may encounter.
I love both the Lucy and the Becky and Flynn series. I don't know how Anna Elliot does it, but these books just get better and better. Totally on the edge of my seat, frantically turning the pages to find out what happens next. How can I rate this any less than 5 stars?!
