Athena Storm

Athena Storm is the pen name for two authors who fell in love with writing science fiction romance as they fell in love with each other.

She's the Athena. And he's the Storm. Athena hopes that one day it won't be a boyfriend/girlfriend writing duo, but a husband/wife team. But she's not pressuring at all. Not one bit.

Science fiction is the biggest love for the writing duo, and they've been doing the writing for quite some time now, building a universe that readers can get lost and explore in. Filled with big bad alien warriors, sassy human women who give as well as they get, hilarious situations, and enough steam to melt stars!

The duo have created the Athenaverse, where all books in all series are tied together. You can start anywhere but once you do, you'll want to explore them all!

When they get married, they plan to continue writing science fiction romance forever. But again, no pressure on the marrying part. Not at all. (Not like writing Happily Ever After ALL Day won't give you any ideas on its own, right?)

Gleeful Goblin Review: I developed a real soft spot for Rylan and his kinda jaded perspective on fated mates because of his parents because he feels his mother basically has to follow his father around on a fools quest and fears being similarly trapped. So my heart broke a bit for him on this scene: "I realized to my horror one terrifying thing when I got closer to her at the kick-off party last night. This human, this Iara, is my fated mate. I’m sure if I told anyone, they would think it was cause for celebration. Not for me. I’ve seen in my parents what fated mates turn into. Finding the one person you can’t live without, the person you are destined to spend life with knowing they complete you, can be more of a curse than anything. Especially if that person is anything like my father, or like me. I don’t even dare tell her. What kind of life could I offer her? I like doing things on my own. I don’t need or want the burden of a fated mate." But then he immediately ruins those squishy feels by acting like a pompous jackwagon for a while to push his fated mate away! I mean clearly he gets his head on straight again later but what an authentically written young guy doofus lol.

And like any good, young doofus he tries to stick to his dumb plan even after horizontal time initially KNOWING THEY'RE MATES and bro thinks he can do casual. My brother in d¡ck that is just absolutely incorrect and it is low key painful to watch him try to maintain. Which in this instance is good; the author is creating tension/friction and I get that......BUT COME ON BRO. YOUR FATED MATE IS DOING EXTREME SPORTS WITH YOU AND EVERYTHING, GET WITH THE PROGRAM. Which of course, he eventually does and the journey to get there is a lot of fun. So if you like stubborn, well written doofuses with an adrenaline addiction check this book out. ;) 5/5 Stars.

4.5 stars - sign me up for ALL the alien X human recs because I am HOOKED.

The plot - this book follows Iara/Lara (a human) and Rylan (an alien) as they competitively climb a really difficult mountain. It is a lengthy challenge that tests every single attributes a person has to offer. It turns out that neither can complete the challenge alone, and when you add in the concept of fated mates… What could possibly go wrong? And what about the things that go right? You’ve got fated mates, forced proximity, it’s a fantasy monster romance, which I’m loving and this book does it justice! A HEA, with smut that was a 2.5/5 on the spice scale - more wholesome and sweet than spicy and page burning but it works.

The MC - I loved Iara/Lara (don’t ask how do you spell her name, because I’ve got no idea, everyone spells it differently), but she was everything you’d want in a fiery human female who is up against misogynistic male aliens. She takes no shit, but she also knows when to accept help, especially if that help is in the form of her fated mate.

The MC - that would be Rylan, the alien dude who really dislikes humans, really hates the concept of fated mates, and just wants to prove something by finishing this trial. He eventually comes to his senses as all men do, but it was amusing watching him struggle.

Rylan (H), an alien athlete who's adamantly against the idea of fated mates due to his parents' troubled relationship, discovers that Iara (h), a determined human competitor, is his fated mate, and tries to resist their inevitable connection as they participate in a grueling mountain climbing competition. He struggles with his feelings of being bound to someone and embracing love, creating a push-and-pull dynamic that fuels the tension with the fiery Iara during the challenging competition, testing not only their physical limits but also their emotional barriers. Amidst the adrenaline-fueled challenges and perilous situations, their relationship evolves from friction and denial to a gradual understanding and acceptance of their undeniable connection as they feel the adrenaline rush of the climb. Hot and steamy alien-human romance with plenty of emotional tension, personal growth, and gripping challenges as Rylan and Iara navigate their relationship while tackling the daunting trials of the competition.

I started reading the story and it didn't take long to realize there was multiple competitions in the story.
Well organized plot. I loved the journey (competition)Rylan and Iara took to complete the climb, with its multiple perils , and find their HEA .
It was fun reading about Iara. She has been competitive her whole life. I love that she is stubborn , determined and not afraid to prove that even though she is a "weak" human she can accomplish anything her heart desires. Loved the many ways she proves herself.
Rylan is as Iara put it "a giant package of contradictions". Loved the banter and chemistry between the two. Loved how he showed Iara his true side.
The perfect amount of steam to the romance. Intense action through out. Wonderful characters. I could feel the anxiety, the confusion and adrenaline of the challenge.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun adventure. Great world building and wonderful characters. Rylan likes doing his own thing and wants nothing to do with a fated mate after seeing his parents' relationship.

'If that's the cost of true love, one person's happiness sacrificed for another’s, then count me out.'

I usually- for whatever reason- tend to favor the male protagonist over the female protagonist in romances, but I loved Iara. She was strong, determined, and competitive. Apart from the relationship building between the two of them, I loved the challenges and competition in this book. Overall a fun read. 5 stars.

I enjoyed this mountain climbing competition story that brought Rylan and Iara together. It was interesting hearing the alternate POV storytelling, which allowed us to near those precious inner thoughts and understand each of them better. The whole climbing competition situation was unique and allowed us to see this couple I face some difficult situations and decisions. It was also a pleasure to see some closure 4 years later with the same ideals and values being upheld.

Loved this story that is about Rylan Xanath a Kiphian athlete who won twice the Mountain Challege and has devoted his life to being single after witnessing his parents "Fated Mate" troubled marriage and Iara Cantrell a human who's a gun-ho competitor that wants to win badly. Their interactions, banter and chemistry were arresting, the action of the competition and world building was detailed and interesting, and the storyline of this engaging alien romance kept me highly entertained in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

He’s a loner guide for mountain climbers who is trying to win a third title in the most grueling 3 week climb on Kiphian. She’s the first human female to be allowed to join the contest. Very quickly Rylan realizes that she’s his fated mate, just what he doesn’t want in his life as he’s seen what it means to his parents, whom he thinks are unevenly matched. Love wins all, and they battle the mountain and a saboteur to finish the race. Though they don’t win the contest, they win love.

RYLAN AND IARA (KYPHIAN AND HUMAN)

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

The great deadly mountain race pits one human against Kiphians. A fated mate story that tells how true love fashions people and kills their beliefs that things are as one experiences. A story that leaves the reader with a good feeling.

Too Fast

This book is supposed to be enemies to lovers but it was way too fast paced. One minute they hated each other and the next they were screwing around. The spicy scenes were mild at best and that was the only semi-redeeming quality. The book also has a poor plot. I forced myself to finish so I could give this rating.

The author has taken us to another time and place to pull us into the lives of Rylan and Iara. The story keeps us turning the pages with competitiveness, connection, denial, danger and steam.

Alien Bible's Pretty Human

It's a different from the usual books that is written by the author. It was interesting but a little involved. I did have to read without stopping, it was that catching. The reader had to find out what happened next....

It was good! I wasn't too attached too this book, but it was definingly interesting and a good read! You get to know the characters first and then see how they meet. That was really cool because you get to know their characters. If you like action, this is definitely action packed!

Iara and Rylan

This is a very good, well written, SciFi, Alien/Human romance. The world of this story is a we developed as a mountainous, rough, hazardous climbing race site. The PCs are interesting, we developed, and interesting. Read their story.

Good read

Iara is a human competing against kiphians in a very hard competition. Rylan is the reining champ. Fated mates are a fate worse than death. Aren't they? Enjoy
