Rate this book
Running the Whisked Away Bakery keeps Maggie bustling, but it can't fill the emptiness in her heart. When a mischievous leprechaun named Liam starts causing havoc around her small town of Sweetfang, Maggie is initially dismayed. However, she eventually realizes the little trickster is using laughter to hide his loneliness.

Against the townsfolk's exasperation, Maggie tries helping Liam find his pot of gold inspiration. As she introduces him to the magic of friendship through baked goods and patience, his pranks begin to dwindle. Though an odd pairing, Maggie's kindness starts melting Liam’s defenses.

But when the mayor threatens to banish Liam from town, Maggie must convince the skeptical locals to see past Liam’s mischief to the goodness within. She'll need some luck and love if she hopes to keep her magical new companion from vanishing forever.

Sweet, short, but confusing

Would have loved a solid physical description of Liam - early on he needs a stool to reach the bakery counter, later on he's bending down to kiss Our Girl. Plus, the baker seems to think all sorts of obnoxious tricks are hilarious... If my farm animals were plopped on my roof, or my storefront destroyed? I'd be ticked. Guess money isn't a problem in this town? Oh, but the baker lives a threadbare existence, despite owning a thriving bakery. And there are other characters who get flack for their own relationships because one or both partners are poor. It doesn't make sense.
Plus? the whole "Mayor is gonna banish him" plot beat is done twice, once, and again immediately after the first. That felt like padding. The love story is more "guess I do love him" than a real friends to lovers. It's okay, just not a fully fleshed out tale that could use an editor to fix these storyline and description issues.
