Mallory is a bit of an introvert, so most likely if you're ever trying to find her, she'll be holed up in her office fast at work, or hiding out at the little Korean cafe down the street with a boba tea and a laptop.
Ever since she was eleven-years-old, all Mallory has ever wanted was to share her stories with the world. Trapped in daydreams during the day and studying her dreams at night, Mallory started to plot before she even knew what plotting was. All she knew was she had so much to tell, and so much to share.
It has always been Mallory's dream to share pieces of her soul with the world. Mallory Grant writes a few different genres. Fantasy has always been her favorite, as a child and now as an adult, lost in worlds and series, hiding under rocks and leaping over chasms, with adventure and romance sub-genre every step of the way.
However, her debut novel, Wrong Locker, is a YA coming-of-age LGBT novel, the first of a series, and so far her most popular published book. With so much more to come, even a few dystopian books in the mix, she's the author to watch out for.
I am sad to say that I did not like this book as much as I hoped to. I LOVE the author's Wrong Locker duo! It's probably my favorite YA MM romance. This book, however, seems like it was written when the author was much younger and less experienced. Maybe it was?! I don't know how publishing works.
The plot was actually incredible! The writing, especially the dialogue, was very amateur and immature at times. So it could be rather disconcerting, but I was interested enough in the plot and the characters to want to continue and find out what would happen. Despite all of the flaws, I was planning to round up to a 4 based on the plot and the potential... But then the story ends in an abrupt cliffhanger and that was quite upsetting.
It could have been SO good! It still had potential though... until the cliffhanger. If anyone wants to give it a try though, it's free to buy on Kobo!
At this point I can't recommend Mallory's books more. I was already in love with her writing, and I have to say it's just so perfect for paranormal romance. This book was packed with angst, action, suspense, twists, pining and desperate love. Even knowing Easton and Jared find out they're fated mates, there are so many things and people against them that you can’t be sure until the very end whether they're really mates, brothers, or both, whether they will ultimately accept or reject each other. What's the truth behind their lives, their roots, their blood? Will they even survive that truth? The plot is intricate, the romance even more as it not only revolve around Easton and Jared but other characters mated to each other fighting for their fate. It's a fantastic Duet and I'm going to immediately read book 2.
*ARC Review* This book. I don't have the words coming to mind on how it made me feel. I love the characters, the plot, the story line. When it came to the last 20% or so of the book, I was not able to put it down. It had me captivated entirely! I found myself lost in the rabbit hole once I finished it. Longing to read more. Wanting to know more. It took me some time to get enveloped into the story, but once my attention was captured, I was done for. I'm anxiously awaiting the second book. I want to know what happens! It was definitely left on a cliffhanger. Consider me peeked. The suspense might unalive me.
