Under the midwinter stars, love's truest gifts are revealed.
EPIPHRON The Everwinter is gone, but still I find myself haunted by a restless longing. When my wife Magdelne reveals her state-of-the-art arcane telescope, her joy kindles a new purpose in me. Determined to gift her something equally wondrous for the Midwinter holidays, I embark on a perilous quest to the lair of a being known as The Collector. It is a journey fraught with dangerous choices, where each step brings me closer to an irreversible sacrifice that could either deepen our bond or shatter it forever.
ANDRICK Midwinter is upon us, and with it, a chance to reveal my hidden affection for the clever inventor Hloti. Amidst the festive celebration, I yearn to bridge the gap between us with the warmth of Yuletide traditions. But as I navigate mistletoe mishaps and my own tangled emotions, the risk of courting such a discerning woman looms large. My endeavor to win her heart is a gamble of love and truth, where the price of a misstep could cost me everything.
Ready for The Everwinter Series to be wrapped up with a nice bow? GIFT OF THE MAGI is a cozy, Yuletide romance novella set four years after the close of Dragon's Chosen, inspired by the classic "Gift of the Magi" Christmas tale. In this relatively low-stakes holiday story, expect songs, feasts, fluff, and (of course) spice. Trigger warnings can be found on my website.
This was a fun and short holiday read. That takes place in the Everwinter. We finally learn more about Andrick and his harp.
This story also touches base with Epiphron and Magdalene. Showing more of their love story and how far they’ve come over the past few years. As well as all the fun and lovable characters from the original stories.
Getting into the mind of Andrick proved to be interesting. And honestly he’s a really sweet “guy”
The whole story gives you feel good vibes and shares different takes on festive holidays. It was a fun read.
I received an ARC for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review.
What a brilliant, fantasy-laced retelling of the popular short story by O.Henry!
There's plenty of the slow-burn, angsty kinda romance in this one, and there's just the right hit of 🌶️🌶️🌶️ to heat things up (heat? geddit? there being dragons in the story and all!). There are wonderful fantasy elements, cheerful festive vibes, a sumptuous feast and fluff for days, too.
If, like me, you read this before actually having read the Everwinter Series, you'll end up adding the latter to your TBR right after you're done with this feel-good novella. It's a beautiful sampler for the rest of the series, IMO.
The writing style is catchy and the characters, memorable. The pacing of the story is just right and in addition to the previous points, make the book a phenomenally good, quick read.
Overall, a great, fast read to get you in the festive spirit!
This is a breakout series that will captivate fantasy readers across the board. The writing is simply wonderful. The entertainment surrounding the burning love among the characters is intense, but soft and warm at the same time. The book is an enjoyable read for me. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoy reading these books. Twists and turns throughout. Sadness, joy and love. Loved reading about Andrick again and his love interest story unfolding. Hloti you minx. Hoping to learn about some of the other characters next perhaps Andricks master and why he's the way he is...
A fantastic addition to the Everwinter series. I love the world Isla has created. This is a great little story perfect for the holiday season encapsulating several holidays. I look forward to seeing more in the world she has created.
