A spicy holiday grumpy sunshine standalone novel by romantic comedy author Gia Stevens…
‘Twas a month before Christmas, and all through the town, Everyone was ready to celebrate, except my hot and grumpy new neighbor.
Christmas is my favorite time of year with the festive parties and holiday cheer. But having Connor Tyler move in next door is as much fun as searching for a burned-out bulb in a string of lights.
His rugged good looks and guitar can make anyone swoon. That doesn’t change the fact that he slammed the door in my face when I welcomed him with a tray of homemade cookies.
But I won’t let his bah-humbug attitude damper my holiday spirit. This year, more than ever, I need to deck the halls and revel in being jolly. As I ramp up my holiday cheer, Connor spends more and more time casting lingering glances toward my… mistletoe. When a blizzard hits, a gesture of hospitality leads to exchanging more than presents.
As Christmas draws nearer, I chip away at his icy facade only to discover a painful truth. There’s an expiration date on his time next door.
And I’m certain I don’t have enough boxes of tinsel to convince him to stay.
Flirting with the Scrooge is a grumpy x sunshine, holiday romantic comedy filled with holiday antics and snow melting interactions. Be prepared to laugh-out-loud one minute and swoon the next in this steamy standalone romcom. Each book in the Harbor Highlands Series is set in the same world and is a guaranteed happily ever after.
Gia Stevens is a romantic comedy author who believes love should come with plenty of laughs—and maybe a little heat. Known for her fun, lighthearted, and spicy stories, Gia writes the kind of books that let readers escape into swoony romances filled with witty banter, quirky characters, and happily ever afters that feel both cozy and exciting.
She lives in Northern Minnesota with her husband and their cat, forever counting down the days until summer and surviving long winters with tea, blankets, and a stack of romcoms. When she’s not busy writing your next book boyfriend, you can usually find her binge-watching shows everyone else finished years ago or curled up with a romance novel.
If you’re looking for stories that guarantee laughs, swoons, and plenty of LOLs, you’ve come to the right place.
я навіть не знаю, яку оцінку покласти книжці, бо все що тут було: гарячий сусід і головна героїня, яка з ним трахається, але сумує за зрадливим колишнім і досі ходить з його фотографією(!!!) на екрані блокування телефону
Thank you @authorgiastevens for my eARC, physical copy and adorable sticker of Tatum and Connor!! I love being part of your ARC Team!!
If you are looking for the perfect holiday romantic comedy filled with holiday antics and snow-melting interactions, you don’t want to miss Tatum and Connor’s story. Make sure you pick this one up!! Available now!
⛄️ Flirting with the Scrooge is the sixth book in the Harbor Highlands Series, but it can be read as a standalone. Even if you start with this book, I recommend going back and reading the rest of the series. They are all five-star reads for me!!
❄️ Gia Stevens is a master at blending humor and romance that will make you both laugh out loud on some pages and swoon on others. Gia’s writing always makes me have all the feels and there were times in this one when I had tears of happiness streaming down my face. Of course, I am a bona fide hopeless romantic too!!
⛄️ I just adored getting to know Tatum and Connor. Tatum is our Christmas-loving FMM (sunshine) and Connor is our hot rock star MMC who detests everything Christmas (grumpy/scrooge). Can you say opposites attract? I fell in love with these characters immediately and was rooting for them the whole way through.
❄️ The banter is spot on and filled with playful hate flirting which is something I didn’t even know I loved until now!
⛄️ I have so many favorite scenes from this book - The snowman Frank, snow angel making, saving the angels, Christmas tree snowball fight, the nicknames, power outage/ steamy scenes that made me blush or my favorite moment singing Road to You. You'll see what I mean when you read it!
❄️ This is the perfect holiday romance if you like a grumpy/sunshine trope with chemistry that is off the charts and a story with a HEA.
⛄️ I promise you will fall in love with the town of Harbor Highlands and you will want your own IRL Connor for Christmas!!
Cute and generally predictable. Though I wasn’t sure how it would end but I really enjoyed the HEA.
What to expect: ⛄️ Grumpy/Sunshine ⛄️ He is a world famous rockstar but no one realizes it (this gave me Hannah Montana vibes. Like a beard made him unrecognizable.) ⛄️ She is a friendly neighbor that loves Christmas decorating. ⛄️ fake dating ⛄️ resisting caching feelings bc he is in town temporarily ⛄️ He is burnt out & has hit a creative block. ⛄️ She is still hurt from a bad break up. 🌶️ 3.5 out of 5 (more spice than I prefer but definitely plot driven)
"But I can't deny all I want to do is kiss the scroogeness off his face."
Christmas is Tatum's favorite time of year. A recent breakup has her diving head first into the Christmas spirit. And nothing can stop her. Not even her grumpy new neighbour. But when a blizzard forces some close proximity, it's full steam ahead. But it comes with an expiration date.
Flirting with the Scrooge is filled with holiday cheer, hilarious antics, and plenty of steam to keep you warm this holiday season! It had me smiling and laughing out loud one minute and then swooning the next. The banter in the beginning was on point. The author nailed the grumpy dude next door. But when that tension simmers-well I couldn't wait for it to ignite. Connor can talk the talk and walk the walk! But there are some moments filled with emotion and tenderness too. I really enjoyed this one. Overall it was just the light fun read I needed!
If you haven't read this series, fear not, I think it reads super well as as standalone. But I loved the tiny glimpses of past characters. Definitely add this to your holiday reading list!
4.5 Stars ⭐

*I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and given freely.
"Flirting with the Scrooge" by Gia Stevens is a delightful addition to the Harbor Highlands Series, blending humor, romance, and holiday cheer into a perfect concoction. As a huge fan of grumpy sunshine romances, this novel exceeded my expectations with its hilarious yet steamy narrative.
The story unfolds in the enchanting backdrop of Christmas and introduces the hot and grumpy neighbor, Connor Tyler, whose rugged charm clashes with the festive spirit of Tatum , the woman who loved everything Christmas.
The dynamics between the characters are both heartwarming and relatable, as they navigate the ups and downs of finding their foot after a few patchy roads in the past. The humor is spot-on, evoking laughter one moment and inducing swoons the next.
Gia Stevens skillfully weaves a tale of redemption and love, and so many times I was thinking of the iconic chemistry between Desperate Housewives' Susan and Mike, with she being a bit clumsy and he being a bit close off.
Flirting with the Scrooge" is more than just a Christmas story; it's a must-read romantic comedy that guarantees a happily ever after. Dive into this steamy standalone romcom for a perfect blend of holiday antics and snow-melting interactions.
Very grateful to the author for my ARC, opinions are my own.
I've only read one other book in the Harbor Highlands series, and it was the one before this one with Olivia and Ledger. This story is about Tatum, Olivia's sister, but it was nice to catch up with Olivia and Ledger and their mother. This can definitely be read as a standalone, though.
Tatum has just been dumped and fired by her boyfriend and is looking for her Christmas spirit again. She is decorating her outdoors yard when she sees what her new neighbor--grumpy Colin Tyler. She bakes him cookies to welcome him to the neighborhood and he returns the ones he doesn't like! They go back and forth with their antics-which are super funny.
Connor is a famous rock star and is in small town Minnesota for a little rest and relaxation. The famous life was getting to him. Tatum is unaware who he is, though. She knows he is only in town for a short time to clean up her grandmother's house and they keep getting closer. Their relationship can't go anywhere. Or can it?
Grumpy sunshine Christmas story with some forced proximity thrown in and a dash of fake dating? 250 pages jammed packed with cute, swooney, irritating, and laugh out loud moments.
Conner is taking a break from being a recognized rockstar to help settle his Grams house that is across the street from Tatum. She tries to be nice and Conner assumes she wants something, so they are off on the wrong foot.
Their relationship progresses and it’s hot enough to melt F**k Xmas Frank on the coldest of winter nights 😂
Don’t waste your time with this one folks. The storyline is so….boring? Played out?? Been there, done that??? The writing is mediocre at best and the one liners are cheesier than your aunties Mac and cheese. The denial, the miscommunication, the avoidance, my least favorite tropes wrapped up with a bow. It was spicy and felt fumbled and awkward. I just, ugh. I guess I was expecting something different and I guess that’s on me for expecting more substance. Book club December book genre: Christmas. A doozie. Whew 🙃
𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐋𝐄: Flirting With The Scrooge 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑: Gia Stevens @authorgiastevens
𝐌𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: Let's be honest here, you dangle a grumpy-sunshine, forced proximity romance in front of me, I'm gonna read it, you add in Gia Stevens style of banter & deliciousness, then set it around the holiday season 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐈𝐌 𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐈𝐓!!! 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵. . . 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥!!!
Gia nailed it again with this gorgeous romance! I couldn't get enough of Tatum & Connor and their laugh out loud banter, their gorgeous chemistry & the swoon that was sprinkled without this book melted my heart. I highly recommend it.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒: In true Gia Stevens fashion, she nailed the spicy moments! Don't let her cute covers fool you guys. This author knows how to bring the heat with her love stories. Expect many cold showers and a new obsession with Connor Tyler after reading.
How can you not love a holiday romance that makes you feel good with just the right amount of steam and laughter especially when one is a grumpy rocker. His next-door Tatum absolutely loves Christmas and is met with resistance when she tries to bring a little holiday cheer to him. What else can she call him but Scrooge?!
This is one of those feel-good books that had me rooting for the couple making my heart full and bright. The banter put a smile on my face. Great holiday read.
Another amazing addition to The Harbor Highlands series! This story focuses on Tatum, who is Olivia's sister from 'Flirting with The Bad Boy.' It was so much fun to see more of Olivia and Ledger, and they are still so happy together! Tatum has just been dumped, and she lost her job, so she's feeling lost. She is helping Olivia with her party planning business.
Tatum meets her hot grumpy neighbor, and when she brings him cookies to welcome him to the neighborhood, his reaction is cold! They go back and forth with messing with each other, and it's so funny! I laughed out loud at their antics. They fight over a Christmas tree!
Connor is helping to fix up his grandmother's house to sell it, and he isn't interested in his attractive new neighbor. He's a famous musician, but he is trying to hide his identity. When a power outage occurs due to a snowstorm, he and Tatum get closer!
Their hatred for each other leads to explosive chemistry! Wow, the spice was kicked up a notch, and I'm here for it!
Their nicknames for each other are so cute! He calls her Tinsel because she loves Christmas, and she loves to decorate for the holiday. She calls him Scrooge because he is grumpy and seems to not like Christmas.
The story had so much heart too as, both Tatum and Connor, are looking for connection and they find it with each other.
If you're looking for a steamy, holiday romance that will give you all of the Christmas feels, this is the book for you! It's such a great way to start the holiday season, and I loved it!
Thanks to the author, Gia Stevens, for an ARC of this book. I definitely recommend it.
Read this if you like: - grumpy/sunshine - enemies to lovers - hate flirting - He falls first - He's a singer! - Fighting over a Christmas tree - He shows up for her. - cute nicknames
Another GREAT read by Gia Stevens! I am never disappointed with her books, and they just keep getting better and better! There were so many parts in the book that had me laughing and parts that had me crying and there were even parts that made me mad but with this authors books you always get all of the feels. I will say that Connor is now my favorite book boyfriend (sorry Ledger). There were so many moments from him that I thought "Man I was wish I was Tatum right now" lol. I Love Connor and Tatum's story and how their relationship went from bickering at each other to something much more. I like the fact that even though at the times they were bickering and getting each other back for Stealing a Christmas tree or making a snowman on one of the neighbor's yards they still had a soft spot for each other and helped each other out when they needed it the most. I liked the nickname Tinsel that Connor gave Tatum which fit perfectly because of how much she loves Christmas. I also loved that Tatum gave Connor the name Scrooge because it fit him so perfectly because he was such a grump to her when they first met. Their relationship blossomed into something magical, and I loved reading every second of it! If you want a great Christmas read to add to your TBR this book and author are for you! You won't regret it!!!
If you love holiday romances, then you do NOT want to miss out on Tatum and Connor's story. My heart is so full right now. This was the holiday romance I didn't know I needed.
Connor needs a break from his fast-paced music career that's demanding every moment of his time and expects more and more from him. He finds out his grandma needs help to renovate her house to be put on the market, and it gives him the perfect excuse to get away for a while.
Tatum has been dumped and fired by her ex-boyfriend of five years, Adam. She is in the grief stage, but Christmas is coming. Christmas is her favorite holiday. She decides to befriend her new neighbor with fresh baked cookies, only she has no idea what she is about to get herself into. Tatum and Connor dislike one another, but it's one of those intense hate to love situations. They give us some laugh out loud shenanigans. They give us plenty of spice and everything nice, but it's short-lived as Connor is only in town for a short while. His goal was to renovate and sell his grandma's house, so when that's done, he must return to his life and career in L.A.
Hearts will be broken, and tears will be shed, but maybe, just maybe, there will be a Christmas miracle. One can hope, right?!!
Thank you to the author, Gia Stevens, for allowing me to read an early copy of this swoony, cozy, & cuddle worthy book!! My heart will never be the same. Christmas just makes our hearts grow fonder, and we need more of these sweet stories in our lives.
genre: romance format: epub arc pages: 248 times read: 1 date (dd/mm/yy): 19/11/23 would reread: maybe rating: 4⭐
review: first off let me start by saying, i want a Connor James for myself
in the beggining i actually pitied Conor, my man couldn't be nice to save his life and kept messing up all the time and Tate was just like 😕😠🖕🏻 but we end up understanding Connor and we love him don't we?
these two were cute asf and their banter was amazing, they had chemistry and were both funny as hell.
one of the downsides was that their first kiss felt too rushed but and that and the fact that it felt like it was just romance and no plot is what makes me rate it 4 stars, but i still loved it
them taking care of each other was the cutest and i loved it sm, the way they both took care of the other aas just amazing
the tree hunting scene was just too funny and when he tripped her i actually laughed out loud like, she pushed him and in turn he grabbed her foot and she fell jajdnffn i loved it
this is a great read for the holiday season so give it a try
This was my first book by Gia Stevens, part of the Harbor Highlands series, but could be read as a standalone. It was a quick, steamy holiday read, perfect for fans of grumpy/sunshine and rock star romance.
Connor is a rock star in hiding, who after being overwhelmed by everyone wanting a piece of him in LA, returns to his hometown of Harbor Highlands, MN, to help his grandmother list her home for sale. Tatum is the Christmas obsessed neighbor across the street, who elaborately decorates her yard for the yearly decoration competition. When she goes over to introduce herself, Connor is incredibly rude to her, thinking she's a fan who wants something from him, but in reality she has no idea who he is besides the Scrooge living across the street. Put off by his behavior (who scoffs at an oatmeal raisin cookie?? 😒), Tatum starts a prank war, and doesn't take his nonsense laying down. Their chemistry is undeniable and soon they give into their attraction to each other. This was a fun read and I liked how even though it was grumpy/sunshine, Tatum wasn't overly bubbly and had some bite to her to fight back against Connor's initial attitude.
What is better than a Christmas loving FMM, and a grumpy rockstar MMC? Nothing! Tatum and Connor immediately had me laughing, and having the best time. These two have undeniable chemistry, but upon meeting they have a little bit of a tit for tat revenge thing going. Can anyone please talk to me about the snowman scene?! It had me in tears laughing! 😆
This book has all the Christmas themed spicy scenes to keep you MORE than warm, on those nights when you’re snowed in and without electricity! I had such a fun time reading this book.. the banter, spice, and hilarious moments, just trust me you’ll want to add this one to your holiday tbr!
@authorgiastevens delivered with this book!!! I was sucked in right from the beginning with Tatum’s Christmas spirit. I adored the grump next door, Connor. Their relationship reminded me so much of my marriage with my hubby 🤣 he’s the Scrooge and I’m the Christmas elf. The banter and sarcasm in this book had me laughing out loud. And the spice 😏 I have a new appreciation for candy canes. This was such a fun holiday read! 4.5⭐️ 3🌶️
It was cute! Probably my favorite Christmas themed book. Grumpy (famous person who wants a break from being famous) x sunshine (girl who doesn’t know the guy is famous).
Ebook. Purchased. Not terrible but it felt a little too long in spots and not enough real “enemies” for the name implications. It was very Christmassy though which I did appreciate.
