Історія про двох людей, які знали один одного з дитинства, які належали до однієї релігійної спільноти і яких практично одружили один на одному, як тільки їм виповнилося 18 років. Вони абсолютно нічого не знали про шлюб, про фізичну близькість, про емоційну близькість, про те як потрібно будувати стосунки. Їх просто кинули в невідомість, бо так заведено, бо за уявленнями їхньої спільноти так правильно.

Вони кохали один одного, довіряли, але через свою недосвідченість, нерозуміння багатьох речей, невміння говорити, так і не змогли утримати свій шлюб. Немає винної і невинної сторони, винні обоє і водночас невинен ні один з них. Але найбільше винна їхня релігійна община, їхні сім'ї.

Спільнота, в якій задіяні всі члени родини, при виході з якої від тебе відмовляється вся сім'я. Спільнота, де єдине призначення жінки - це народження та виховання дітей і прислужування чоловіку. Жінка повинна бути тихою, покірною, скромно одягатися, не носити штанів, не фарбуватися, вона не має права навіть на вищу освіту, адже для чого вона домогосподарці.
Своїми настановами і правилами ця община викликає відчуття неповноцінності у жінок, змушує відчувати їх сором за своє тіло і сексуальність.
Релігійна складова дуже гарно прописана, тому що дійсно на сьогоднішній день існують такі релігійні групи (в мене навіть є знайома звідти).

Що стосується книги, то це історія, перш за все, про другий шанс про свободу жити без настанов у своїй голові, про те, що потрібно проживати своє життя не наперекір і не на зло комусь, а заради себе і свого щастя.

Мені дуже сподобалося, як герої будували свої стосунки після розлучення і дворічної розлуки. Як вони вчилися на своїх помилках, як були чесні і відкриті один з одним, розмовляли, були емоційно близькими, захищали один одного і завжди ставили на місце свого партнера. Мені сподобалося, що навіть після розлучення вони з повагою відгукувалися один про одного і нікому не дозволяли погано висловлюватися про свого колишнього чоловіка/дружину, і звісно не переставали кохати❤️.

Калеб - це просто чоловік мрія😍, з яким же обожнюванням він ставився до Блер, в прямому сенсі боготворив її, доводив їй власну цінність, як він її розумів, (вона бідна навіть збрехати не могла, бо чоловік все бачив🤣). А до цього всього додайте, що він ще й розумний, уважний, впевнений в собі, і з шикарним почуттям гумору і то я ще про сцени🔞 не згадувала (без вогнегасника не обійдеться🤣) Коротше, хто ще не читав, вам це точно треба.

Блер теж дуже класна. Розумна, дотепна, впевнена в собі кар'єристка. Мені подобалося, як вона захищала свої кордони, як спочатку з обережністю ставилася до дій Калеба, як завжди відстоювала свою думку. Я дуже хвилювалася, як вчинить Блер в останніх частинах, тому що "гра в одні ворота" мені не дуже подобалася, але врешті решт, я лишилася задоволеною і рада, що герої внесли рівноцінний вклад в свої стосунки.

Місцями було боляче, іноді смішно, але багато момент для роздумів.
Чудова історія про другий шанс між людьми, які народилися, виросли та одружилися в релігійній спільноті, яка дуже обмежує роль жінки та чоловіка, яка не надає знань про здорову комунікацію, висловлювання своїх емоцій та потреб, про сексуальну освіту, про взаємоповагу та навичок вирішення конфліктів.
Я нічого подібного не читала, мені сподобалось як головні герої оцінювали свої помилки в минулому, намагалися позбутися наслідків їх виховання в спільноті та знайти шлях до один одного.

П.С. сцени 18+ прям дуже гарячі

Colour me stunned, I've read quite a few books from this author and her heroes are always devoted and committed to the h so it's a shock to see this one

why do authors hate writing a strong women? the story was going okay but the main girl is so pathetic, she managed to flirt with a guy but bc her ex husband came back over and over again for sex she only thought of him and never had sex or kissed a guy since their divorce while he slept with a women straight away after they ended bc he thought it was be great revenge bc he was mad at her and he had sex with another women who taught him how to pleasure the women. How disgusting and annoying is it the guy had sexual partners but also taught him intimacy bc he sucked at it but he claimed it was for the main girl. The main girl barely went on dates and the dates she went on sucked. Authors are so annoying writing about second chances where the men have sex all they want but the women can never even think of the word sex with another man that isn’t the main guy, it’s pathetic.

Але це напевно всі книги з цим тропом схожі між собою
Чого мені не вистачило так це розділів з минулого, до їхнього одруження
Класний гумор, гарно написано, було дуже цікаво читати

Калеб мені сподобався як чоловік, він прям дуже сильно любив і обожнював Блер🥰

I’ve yet to meet a Maggie Gates book I don’t like.

I’m not usually into the second chance trope… but divorced second chance is slowly climbing the ranks.

Original. Like all of Maggie’s books, they’re one of a kinds.

The religious cult ish aspect was unexpected yet so good.

Книга про другий шанс, тому, хто таке не дуже любить, то попереджаю😆
Але в даному випадку це все було дуже гарно продумано, бо шлюб розпався не через якісь зради чи нелюбов, він розпався, бо людей не вчили сексуальній освіті і взагалі моменти залицянь опущені на рівні «общини»
Те, як вони зустрілись вдруге і моменти з пошуком нижньої білизни звісно смішно, але сусідка з мітлою - це веселіше😅
Калеб - це приклад чоловіка, що відпустив стосунки, бо хотів дати кращого
Блер - це дівчина, яка змогла вирватись з прокляття жінок в їхній общині і дати поштовх і іншій сестрі
Дуже багато класних фраз про любов, взаємоповагу і те, що потрібно завжди прислухатись до другої половинки

Це була болісно приємна подорож. 
Стільки думок. Цитат. Роздумів.
Про кохання. Про життя. Про шлюб.

Люблю книги про другий шанс.
Це як зцілення. Переродження. Нове життя.

Блер і Калеб. Все почалось так давно. Ще в дитинстві.

9 років шлюбу. Це ауч.

Приналежність до однієї релігійної спільноти. Вузьке мислення. Нав'язані норми та стереотипи.

Вони не витримали. Це їх зламало. 
Бо не знали і не бачили іншого. Просто не вміли жити інакше.

Були готові до весілля. Були готові до одруження. Але не були готові до шлюбу.

Жити під впливом. Під постійним контролем. Бути лялькою в чужих руках. 

Злість. Біль. Неприйняття.
Саме такі емоції в мене викликало все написане щодо жінок. Щодо чоловіків.
Кожне обмеження. Настанова. Повчання.
Страшно, що таке справді існує. Що це чиясь реальність. Чиєсь життя.

 Жінка, чоловік. Неважливо. Це особистість.

Обирати себе. Чути власні бажання. Жити своє життя. 
Не на зло комусь. Не через когось. А заради себе і власного щастя.

Говорити. Слухати. Чути.
Сваритись. Злитись. Але не тікати.
Відчувати все це. Разом.

Це був тернистий шлях.
Але вони змогли. У них все вийшло.
Кінець вартий боротьби.

🩰🩷🪷 Обкладинка весь цей час змушувала мене думати, що тут щось легке, ненав'язливе, весняне (так, я заходила на тропи, але зупинялася на першому - «другий шанс» - дармааа 🙌)

Це було емоційно, гаряче й місцями навіть божевільно! 🔥🌪 Книга тримала мене на гачку з першої до останньої сторінки, хоча деякі моменти все ж лишили після себе змішані почуття.

Жінка дійсно може звикнути до того, що з нею весь час поводяться, як із людиною.

Блер і Калеб — це вогонь, справжній ураган пристрасті й емоцій. Їхні стосунки — суцільний хаос, але саме через це за ними так цікаво спостерігати. Здавалося б, ну що нового можна сказати про другий шанс? А тут виходить справді жива, насичена історія, яка місцями змушує сміятися чи плакати (другого все ж більше), хоча все ж таки місцями хочеться стукнути їх обох по голові, щоб нарешті зібралися і почали діяти.

Мені сподобалося, як у книгу вплітається тема релігії. Це було досить незвично і, якщо чесно, моментами трохи вибивало з романтичного настрою. Але водночас відзначило історію. Спостерігати за тим, як Калеб обирає між сім'єю та Блер. Обирає свою сім'ю. Сім'ю, яку він може створити, якщо покине людей, для яких він шахова фігура. Людська подоба для розпліднення і передання традицій, які знищують усе живе в них.
Дуже сподобалася лінія між молодшою сестрою Блер і молодшим братом Калеба – Ґретта і Кейд. Люди, у яких є можливість не допустити того, що стало з близькими для них людьми. Щоб ви не зустрілися вперше за два роки після розлучення внаслідок екстреного випадку і зрозуміли, скільки всього втратили.
Але все ж місцями не покидало враження, що авторка показала релігію як додатковий штрих до характерів героїв, а не повноцінною частиною їхнього розвитку. Було багато чого, що збивало з цієї теми, змушувало зациклюватися на інших речах, а не на тому, що, здавалося б, мало бути важливим.

Ну і давайте чесно, сцен з «хімією» між героями тут ого-го скільки! 🔥 Вони яскраві, емоційні, місцями навіть надто. Так, вони були пристрасні й добре написані, але їх, на мою думку, було трохи забагато. Хотілося більше діалогів, внутрішніх роздумів героїв, які б розкривали глибину їхніх стосунків.Особисто мені трохи бракувало глибших почуттів, щирих розмов і емоційних моментів.
Це пара, яка викликала в мене одночасно любов і роздратування. Вони такі живі, такі справжні, але інколи здається, що їхні почуття залишаються у тіні… інтимних сцен.

Проте навіть з цими нюансами, ця книга мені сподобалася. Історія про другий шанс, про те, як життя може повернути все з ніг на голову ❤️‍🩹

Існує страх перед майбутнім життям, але, коли справа доходить до виходу зі спільноти, страх бути відкинутим - це те, що утримує більшість людей. Страх втратити сім'ю. Страх втратити роботу. Страх, що твої діти будуть відчужені від родини. Страх втратити своє коріння. Але якщо коріння хворе, то це лише питання часу, коли захворіє і дерево.

Блер живе в Чикаго і веде авторський подкаст «Один маленький бунтівний вчинок». Калеб повернувся до маленького містечка, в якому він виріс, і працює на будівництві.

Вони належали до однієї релігійної общини, були заручені з дитинства, одружились, а згодом розлучились. І не бачили одне одного два роки, аж поки непередбачувані обставини не змусили їх зустрітися знову.
Алергія, відділення невідкладної допомоги, контакт на випадок екстрених ситуацій, випадкова зустріч в барі і низка невипадкових зустрічей, коли вони робили крок назустріч одне одному.

Мені дуже сподобалось, як Блер і Калеб налагоджували стосунки. За ці два роки, коли вони були розлучені, вони обоє виросли - змінили ставлення до якихось речей, чогось навчились, щось переосмислили, побачили деякі свої помилки, і були готові до спроби номер два. Вони розмовляли одне з одним, вони чинили по-іншому, ніж у ті часи, коли були одружені. Вони б не дозволили знову «непримиренним розбіжностям» все зруйнувати. Зрештою, при розлученні кожен з них не лише втратив чоловіка чи дружину, вони обоє втратили свого найкращого друга.

Ніхто з них не знав, яким має бути шлюб. Ніхто з них не був до нього готовим. Потреба ставити іншу людину у топ життєвих пріоритетів, вести відкриту комунікацію, знаходити час для стосунків, побороти власні комплекси та змінити установки про себе/партнера/сім’ю/релігію і так далі, а головне - дозволити іншій людині побачити тебе таким, яким ти є - вразливим, сумним, розбитим, злим, неідеальним, - це складно. І герої вчились цьому.

І навіть попри всі тріщини в їхньому шлюбі, вони кохали одне одного - так, як могли. Взяти хоча б те, як Калеб безперестанно працював, щоб дружина могла піти до коледжу і мати все необхідне🤌🏼 Або його листи, які довели мене до сліз. Такі вже бубочки🥹

Ще мені дуже сподобались Ґрета і Кейд. Я за них дуже вболівала.

Насправді це, здається, моя перша книжка, у якій розкривається тема релігійних общин з високим рівнем контролю, і мені було цікаво. Я не знаю, наскільки близьким до реальності є все, описане в книзі, але це було дуже боляче.

💔Мій батько називав мене і моїх сестер своїми «чашечками» - крихкими, делікатними речами, з якими треба було поводитися обережно і берегти їх. Щось крихке і тендітне, чим нібито дорожили і захоплювалися, але рідко подавали до столу. Мовчазні, гарні речі на полицях, на які треба дивиться, але не слухати.

Але були і речі, які не дуже сподобались. Наприклад, те, як герої, в яких була дуже складна і скляна історія кохання і розлучення, і які стали вже зовсім іншими людьми за два роки, коли були розлучені, які фактично змінились до невпізнаваності, зійшлись у туалеті бару. Я люблю більше розмов до сексуального возз’єднання, ю ноу. І мене іноді трохи коробило від альфасамцовості Калеба. Чомусь моментами це було не стільки сексуально, як безглуздо. Але це суто на мій смак.

В цілому історія гарна. Як і всі історії авторки, які я прочитала.

Different

This was a bit hard for me to get into. I devour all things Maggie writes but I found it hard to stay focused on this story. Caleb was the best, I adored him. I had a harder time connecting with the FMC. The spice was very repetitive and one sided if you get my drift. I hated that during the divorce the MMC had been with other women yet the FMC had been celibate. It was just so typical and it didn’t align with the MMC a being so in love with her the entire time and wishing for her and pining for her. And the fmc, granted went through a lot growing up, she read as very immature and selfish imo.

This book had all the makings of a second-chance romance: hurt, healing, and two people destined to be together. It felt different from any other Maggie Gates book I’ve read.

Some parts were difficult to read but they were written well and felt authentic. I do wish there had been more reconciliation between the characters and a happier overall ending but I understand that not every story can end that way.

this took me forever (by my standards) to read. Overall this was written very well and everything flowed nicely. I just really think this woman needs a therapist more than air. Clearly Caleb did some soul searching in the two years they were divorced and started making changes in his life to better himself, but Blair sure didn’t. She so adamantly didn’t want to be like the other women in her family while also refusing to make a single choice for herself. Good book, im just mad at this lady

Whilst attending a preservation society dinner at a hotel, Blair Dalton finds herself flirting with Colin and is glad to have seemingly been able to flirt with someone since her divorce. Since divorcing Caleb dalton 2 years ago, Blair has been hosting her podcast, one small act of rebellion, with her friend and co-host Sophia. When her studio program director Eddie pulled her show and wanted her to change it, she recently started showing the reality of dating since getting divorced! What she doesn’t expect, is to end her night in the hospital after an allergic reaction to shellfish! Without her EpiPen on her, she’s rushed to hospital and is confused when she wakes up to find her ‘husband’ Caleb is on the way! After getting frustrated and telling the nurse they’re divorced, Caleb shows up not much later and ends up going to her apartment to get clothes for her! The following day in work, her tea tell her they want her podcast to move away from deconstruction and not only target people who had left high control groups like Blair, but also others who have controlling friends and family struggles. The following day, Caleb can’t stop thinking about Blair and is left annoyed when Priscilla, someone from his old fellowship courtship, shows up to offer him bread, leading to him lying he’s allergic to turn it down! Sophia sets Blair up on a date with Cameron to be able to talk about it on the podcast, which ends in a failed date as he’s rich and stuck up! The night ends differently than she expected as her ex husband Caleb then shows up, and they spend the evening chatting over a drink and call a truce, with Caleb mentioning he might trip down to see her more often! After their divorce, Blair felt stuck as she not only lost her husband, but also the only person she truly trusted after feeling controlled by her family and the courtship they’re in! Although they never fought, their relationship fizzled out and ended in divorce after lots of silence which brought along resentment, leaving Blair to talk about things on her podcast! The following day, they meet up in the city for a drink after Caleb listened to her podcast about their interaction a few nights prior! Blair ends up snapping at him as he mentions getting with someone else to try and get her, despite him saying he only came to the city to see her, so Caleb rushes after her! The tension between them fizzles over and they wake up the following morning together hungover after spending the night at her apartment! Whilst Caleb cares for Blair, she’s confused why he’s so different to the man she once married! She records a podcast episode detailing their night, and how she’s not sure how to move on from it! Caleb listens to the episode and is glad at the idea she’d be jealous of the next person he dates getting a better version of him than she did, but doesn’t like the fact she says he’s unsettling! He goes to see Blair for clarity, and she admits she’s confused where his different attitudes and personality come from! He admits he’s tried to move on since her but couldn’t, and before Blair can get frustrated, he reassures her how much he’s thought about her since the day he got called to hospital! Blair warns him that he needs to figure out what he wants, and only come back to her when he has a good reason to! 10 days pass without seeing one another, and Caleb has to begrudgingly attend a family dinner! He ends up frustrated as his father continues to mention him taking up one of the girls waited to be courted, such as Priscilla, and how the reverend is ready to do counselling with him to have him rejoin the congregation by ‘making amends for his transgressions’! Caleb realises his dad’s tone when he deems women the ‘weaker sex’ and realises that maybe he said something to Blair in college when she got upset about leaving for college so he texts her! She bumps into Colin again at the Chicago people of the year awards, and is surprised when he picks back up flirting with her again! However, their night it cut short when Caleb continuously texts her and Colin notices and leaves, so Blair takes it upon herself to rush and see Caleb! She voices her frustrations with him cockblocking her and Colin, yet he tells her he’s decided what he wants and it’s her, as he’s ready to give her a new version of himself:’) The following morning, they discuss why they ended their marriage and Blair confesses she felt alone as she felt he viewed her as half of the bills and marriage etc, not as a person:( He continues to reassure her, and manages to convince her to trust him to stay in lily lake with him for the weekend! 3 years ago, Blair opened up about her marriage with Caleb on her podcast, and explained some of the ideology forced upon her during her fellowship. She details how they didn’t care about letting people date or get to know one another, they were thrust together and made to get married, and how she wishes she could go back and tell her younger self to love herself too:( They spend the weekend at his house, and Caleb gives her a box of letters he wrote for her over the 2 years they were apart, asking her to read them when she’s home! The following day, they’re surprised to bump into her sisters in the gas station, which causes Blair to struggle to sleep:( Caleb tells her not to blame them, as they have the same ideology forced upon them and it’s okay to care about them, whilst also admitting he never stopping loving her:’) Blair returns home and reads the letters, where she finds birthday and anniversary cards from their time apart, where Caleb apologises for not giving her everything he should’ve put into their relationship! After blair talks to her sister Greta on the phone, the news travels to Caleb’s other brothers fast and they show up to his work threatening him for going near Blair again! He’s quick to threaten them back, almost ending in them fighting before his uncle Gary whom he works with dismisses them! A little while late Blair calls and asks him to join her on an episode of her podcast to which he agrees, admitting he’s got her fully now and won’t let her go again:’) the following day they film the episode, which ends with them confessing more things about their past relationship and breakup to one another and only deepening their connection further:’) Blair is left torn when she gets asked to move to LA to anchor a new studio location for her podcast, but struggles knowing that Caleb has just had an opportunity open up to be a partner in Texas working for a contractor! She tells Caleb who gets frustrated, telling her how he feels as though she’s not doing it for herself but for the fellowship which is still silently controlling her:( They spend thanksgiving together at his families house, and rebel against his parents rules to sit separately, and are both proud of their younger siblings Greta and Cade who follow suit and break their parents rules too! Cameron and Caleb’s dad snap at him, telling Caleb that he’s a disappointment to the family for bringing Blair, yet he doesn’t care and says he’s glad he’s turned his back on them! Caleb is left unsure what to do when he gets a call to go and work in Texas months sooner than he thought, worried as he thought he had more time with Blair, just like before their divorce:( When both of their mothers show up to his house, they explain their disappointment and how he’s not welcome which he’s with Blair, as she’ll always choose something else over him:( Blair overhears it and thinks that tells Caleb that he also needs to choose himself and go and work in Texas whist she works in LA, following something he wants to do for himself, as he would encourage her to do the same:’( However, when Blair boards the plane to LA, she’s surprised to see Caleb sat in the seat next to her, joining her and promising to chase her wherever she tries to run as he won’t lose her a second time! But once they’re in La and have seen the new studio, Blair questions how this changes anything as he still wants to work in Texas and her in LA, so it’s never going to work:( Caleb admits he thinks she’s still not escaped the control of her past life, and needs to start living in spite of them, not living to spite them! The following day, Blair finally breaks free of control and tells Genevieve what she’s doing with her show! She declines the offer to work in LA, and asks for an opportunity to work in the Austin studio to be able to work near where Caleb is so they can move towards a fresh start together! A few days pass after standing up to Genevieve and Blair finds out she’s being offered a new contract at the Austin studio to renew her show with full creative control to take it in whatever direction she wants! Blair and Caleb both couldn’t be happier, ready to finally get their fresh start and second chance at life together after they get married and move to Austin:’)


My thoughts
I’m not sure how to feel about this book!! I really enjoyed some moments and others really just took me out of it? I feel like the past fellowship stuff needed explaining a bit more and earlier on as half the time I was confused when any of it was mentioned🫣 I enjoyed their moments together and think that the tension between them at some points was good yet I just wish there was more! I think there didn’t really feel like there was any build up of tension or yearning which is usually the reason why I love second chance romances so much?!! I really felt for both characters and wish we got a bit more of background on their divorce as I felt the details were a bit skimmed over and we could’ve used a bit more context! The last 30% was probs my fav part it picked up a bit more and I understood more what was going on after some more context to the whole fellowship thing! However, Maggie Gates writing was really bingeable and enjoyable as always just not my fav of hers :(

Overall, I think this is a 3.5 🌟 not my fav Maggie gates book but still enjoyable and easy to read! I’m so sad I only have 2 Maggie gates books left to read in her backlist omg:(

Years later, an emergency brings them back together when Blair is rushed to the hospital, and Caleb is listed as her emergency contact. Now, forced together by chance, what could go wrong?

This was a great read. I’ve never read a story about a divorced couple finding their way back to each other before. Blair and Caleb were best friends growing up, brought together by family values. They married young but grew apart due to a lack of communication. The plot is very character-driven, with a strong focus on their journey. I have to say, the spice was both delicious and intimate. Overall, it was an enjoyable read!

ARC Review: Oh this book! I am so glad I got to read it early, because it was exactly what I needed last weekend. Blair and Caleb are such a complex and beautiful couple. They married when they were both very young (arranged marriage) and due to the religious community they were apart of had very complicated beliefs/ideas about what a marriage should look like. Fast forward to two years after their divorce and they reconnect as Caleb is still her emergency contact. Needless to say, that wasn’t the only contact they then had. I loved how Maggie and Landon showed how much these two grew during their time apart. How they had to deconstruct what they grew up with, beliefs that were forced onto them, and how to stand up for not only themselves, but each other. Religious deconstruction can be a difficult thing to write about, but Maggie and Landon did it beautifully. This is a fantastic read and one that I can’t wait to read again! Thank you Maggie and Landon for the opportunity to read an early copy! ⭐️5/5

Of course Maggie did it again! This book was perfect! Maggie and Landon Gates did a phenomenal job with this story! Definitely the best second chance romance I’ve read. Check trigger warnings. This whole book melted my heart! The character growth was incredible!! Just enough spice/angst. I’d recommend 100 times more.

This book definitely had a different vibe than what I usually read. I’m normally a second-chance romance girl, but I had no idea this one involved a cult until I actually started reading, and I ended up really enjoying it.

I really admired Blair’s strength and determination. Losing her entire family, her husband, and the only life she’d ever known just to go after her dreams is no small thing, and it made her impossible not to respect.

While Blair seemed confident in her choices for most of the book, it was really interesting to see Caleb struggle with everything that had happened. Watching him realize that he wanted to fight for her no matter what he might lose was such a standout for me. That man was pining.

“My throat constricted as a torrent of memories rushed in: our first date, our wedding day, the countless nights we’d whispered to each other beneath the covers… They were replaced by the countless nights since our divorce where I’d slept on the couch to avoid lying next to her side of the bed and hearing nothing at all.”

“She felt like coming home after a long trip.”

Second-chance romances sometimes annoy me because I can’t understand why the couple broke up in the first place, but that wasn’t the case here. This time, the breakup actually made sense. Both the FMC and MMC needed time apart to grow and move on from their past before they could really be happy together.

Overall, I was surprised by how much I liked this book.

after reading 100 lifetimes of us last summer, i had high expectations for my next book written by maggie. and i was not disappointed one bit! this one was written in collaboration with her husband, landon. i love the idea of a female author and a male author each adding their own perspectives to a romance story, especially one that contains dual POV. plus, it just flew seamlessly and you couldn’t tell who wrote what.

this is an emotional story of getting free from your past and being able to stand for yourself. it’s not easy letting go of beliefs that were ingrained into you since birth, but that’s the journey blair and caleb have to go through. and it’s what broke their marriage the first time.

but mostly, this is just a sweet vulnerable story of two people trying to find their way back to each other. they both have grown and changed in their time apart. they both realized the mistakes they made. but are they ready to love each other right this time?

caleb is just an amazing partner to blair. he’s so caring and thoughtful. he’s always supportive of her and extra protective. he went through a huge transformation after their divorce and he wants his girl back now. he never got over her, but he let her go because he wanted her to be happy. the letters he wrote to her each year for her birthday but never sent? that man is something else. he’s ready to step up to the plate and be the partner he couldn’t be before.

blair is a headstrong woman, but she still needs to be cared for. she acts like she’s fine and has completely moved on from the community she grew up in, but some ideas you were taught growing up can be deep-rooted. to be vulnerable and let caleb in is hard for her. but she realizes that’s one of the reasons they grew apart in the first place. she needs to be able to communicate what she feels and wants.

the spice in this book 🥵 don’t expect the spicy scenes to be boring just because they grew up in a religious community. especially since caleb learned a few things in their time apart and is ready to show blair he can give her what she needs 🤭

if you enjoy second chance romance with emotions and spice, and a background of religious deconstruction, you should definitely check this book out! blair and caleb are the kind of couple you can’t help rooting for and hoping they get their happy ending together.
