From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Happened One Summer and Hook, Line, and Sinker comes a sexy and hilarious rom-com trilogy about three broke and beautiful strangers who share an apartment in NYC...

College drop-out Roxy Cumberland moved to New York with dreams of becoming an actress, but her dwindling bank account is quickly putting the kibosh on that fantasy. To make some quick cash, she signs up to perform singing telegrams. Her first customer is a gorgeous, cocky Manhattan trust-funder if she ever laid eyes on one. And what could be more humiliating than singing an ode to his junk, courtesy of his recent one night stand? Maybe the fact that she's dressed in a giant pink bunny costume…

After a night out to celebrate winning his last case, lawyer Louis McNally II isn't prepared for the pounding in his head or the rabbit serenading him from the front door. But the sassy wit and sexy voice of the girl behind the mask intrigue him, and one look at her stunning face—followed by a mind-blowing kiss against his doorjamb—leaves Louis wanting more.

Roxy doesn't need a spoiled rich guy who's had everything in life handed to him on a Tiffany platter. But there's more to Louis than his sexy surface and he's determined to make Roxy see it...even if it means chasing her all over NYC.

“Louis and Roxy are a terrific match from the start. But Bailey is a master at portraying a heroine with a complex core, and Roxy’s proud character carries the novel―making readers wish she was their roommate, empty bank account be damned.” – Washington Post

I was gonna try and finish this but this was a waste of my time. My eyes hurt from all the eye rolling! I'm a huge TB fan but I'm sorry this was her worse book to date.

Hero: one kiss turned him from manwhore to wanting more
Heroine: didn't like her (at all)
Romance: insta lust
Banter: felt forced
Humour: tried too hard to be funny
Side characters: annoying (all of them)

Phew glad I got that out my system. Now moving on...

When Roxy, New York resident struggling to make it in the acting world, finds herself with no money and no acting prospects, she does what every girl in her situation does: finds her job. In her particular case, the job is doing singing telegrams. Her first job is to dress as a giant pink bunny and go to one guy’s home singing an ode to his penis, hired by one of his one-night-stands.
When Louis sees one gorgeous girls dressed as a bunny at his front door he immediately becomes interested. After the strange encounter ends in a kiss he becomes obsessed. In her chase for Roxy they both see despite living in the same town, is almost as they lived in different worlds. And when their differences become too much, can they make it work?

I’m seeing a lot of mixed opinions about this book, but I found it hilarious. It wasn’t Tessa’s greatest book so far, I’ll give you that. But it was engaging, absolutely funny, romantic and steamy. And despite being technically NA, it didn’t feel like it. What put me off a little was the ending, it felt rushed and after all the drama leading to it, we needed more from the end. I understand we’ll see more of them on the following books, but still.
However, if you’re in need of a fast-paced, sexy and funny romance, this is a good choice.

Characters Development: I didn’t particularly liked Roxy. I understood she was constantly struggling, but her struggle could sometimes be easily confused with bitchiness. Louis was a sweet. Yes, there was a bit of insta-attraction and insta-obsession, but he was so sweet and sexy it’s impossible not to like him. I liked the supporting characters, it’s pretty easy to see where the next books are going, but still, I want to read them.

Tessa Bailey writes some really fun romcoms and this was one of them. Roxy is a strong female main character trying to make a name for herself as an actress in New York but when she’s faced with being excited or stripping, she has to make some tough choices. She decided to take a singing candy gram in the meantime for a quick payday, its here she learns that most of the business brought in is through strip parties. Roxy isn’t that desperate yet and ended up singing a ballad to a drunk guys “area” as a bunny. From this moment Louis is in love and becomes obsessed with tracking Roxy down. Roxy does her best to fly under the radar and stay clear of him, but things don’t go to plan.

This book was a lot of fun and it was really cute. I loved how strong-willed Roxy was, but maybe a little too much at times. However, I found her utterly relatable because I too am a little too strong willed at times. There are a lot of laugh-out-loud moments and I love when books make me do this. It’s just so much fun. I’m also a sucker for a he falls first story and this one fits the bill. Louis was a great character, he was a jerk at times, but not in a mean or malicious way, and his sisters were the perfect supporting characters.

I’m excited to read the rest of this series!

Well, I'm finished with the book, & I have to be honest with you all: I did NOT like it.

It was just one cliché after another.... Furthermore, I feel as if I'm suffering from a major case of whiplash. The reader gets jerked back & forth throughout the entire book— the heroine wants the hero, then she cuts him off, then she wants him again, then she cuts him off again. THIS REPETITIVE & TEDIOUS CYCLE CONTINUES FOR 99% OF THE BOOK. It would have been nice if the author had mixed things up a bit, but instead the plot was just so predictable.

I'm not typically a fan of epilogues, but if any book needs an Epilogue, it's THIS one. The novel ends on such an abrupt note. Imagine being jerked back & forth throughout the ENTIRE novel... and then very suddenly, everything just STOPS. HEA. The End.... It was jarring. In short, I thought that the novel was poorly paced, & that the writing lacked fluidity. I'd use the word "choppy" to describe much of the sentence structure & the story's flow, in general.

To say that I'm disappointed in this novel would be an understatement. I loved the beginning (and the opening scene, in particular); however, everything plummeted rapidly from that point onward.

***3.5***

Ah okay I’m shocked how much I LOVED this! I think it’s because as a struggling actress in nyc, I just felt myself in Roxy & everything felt so real to me like everything she was feeling and all the situations she was in. & then on top of that it was just a really good romance that had me giggling and kicking my feet. The characters were both built really well and I was just constantly rooting for them:))) I’m very excited to read the next two!

Roxy has hit rough times and is the cliché starving actress struggling to land a job. In order to make ends meet, she takes a job singing telegrams, but never thought she’d have to sing a song in honor of a man’s, ahem, manliness, in a bunny suit, no less! No, that’s not humiliating at all…

When Louis opens the door and sees a hot bunny on his doorstep, he at first thinks he’s hallucinating. He gets a song of praise for his endowments, and you’d think that make a guy happy, but not so much when it’s a judgmental, sexy bunny singing the song. And not so much when you’re instantly attracted to the sexy, sassy bunny because having your one night stand send a singing telegram to your manhood doesn’t exactly make the best first impression:

"Why? If you like what you see, will you invite me inside? You haven't even showered off the last girl yet." He actually had the grace to look a little ashamed. “I—“
Roxy didn’t give a shit about his answer. “Would you expect me to be flattered?” She clutched her chest dramatically. “Please, oh keeper of the golden penis, let me worship at your flawless phallus.”

Lol! So, yes, not the best first impression there, but they do manage to share a smoldering kiss. Sounds like a weird thing to happen, but it works in this context, and Louis can’t get Roxy out of his mind. Soon he’s chasing her all over the city to win her over and make her give him a chance.

Roxy doesn’t want to get hurt, and Louis definitely seems like a love-them-and-leave-them type of guy, so she keeps her shields up just in case. That’s a little difficult when she starts to realize he’s not the manwhore she thought, but actually a nice guy. I laughed at the whole roommates “syncing” scene where Louis came in and handled things like a pro with two broody and emotional females:

“What else you got in that bag, Mary Poppins?” Roxy’s curiosity got the best of her, so she hopped up on one of the kitchen stools and reached into the bag. “Three…no, four Snickers bars,” she announced. “A bottle of wine. Tylenol. People magazine.” She peered further into the bag. “And Bridesmaids on DVD.”

Louis realizes that the way they met would make Roxy doubt his intentions, but he’s determined to change her opinion. He wants to get close, get to know Roxy, wedge himself into her heart bit by bit, because no one has ever affected him the way she does.

I adored Chase Me! It was such a fun and sexy story. The clever banter, the deeper emotions and the amazing sexual tension all added up to a satisfying romance. Roxy and Louis get to know each other better, all the while sharing lusty kisses, and passionate encounters. Tessa Bailey excels at writing super hot sex scenes, but she definitely built up my anticipation, making me hot and bothered in the process!

I love Tessa Bailey’s writing and I’ve already got the next installment, Need Me, locked and loaded on my kindle!

Louis McNally. I know his type to a motherfucking T. I've been around guys like this... dated guys like this... and their behavior is so hot.

Let me give you a character study: Extremely confident, mature, and grounded in themselves... but it's all very low-key and understated. You can't play head games with them because they won't participate and they're totally transparent about what they want from you. They pursue what they want— whether it be a goal or YOU— with athlete-like determination and discipline. If their friends are roasting them, they'll just laugh and take it in stride instead of trying to defend themselves. They don't scare easily. Possibly grew up with sisters. Perceptive and emotionally intelligent. They try to understand your behavior instead of just blindly reacting to it— e.g. 'maybe she turned down my invitation to accompany me to a family party with my entire ancestry present because she's not used to being a part of a big, tight-knit family and finds the prospect overwhelming' vs. 'well obviously she turned down my invitation because she hates me and we should just break up now and turn this into a miscommunication-fueled Third Act Conflict'.

Yes? Do we get the vibe? They have 'I played sports in HS/college and was hot and popular but I didn't let it get to my head' energy.

He pulled back to stare at her mouth, but he didn't kiss her. "I don't play games. But I'm also not going to be the guy who you keep blowing off...I want to know that you're not going to disappear every time we have a bad moment...you've been keeping me awake at night since we met, and until now, I honestly didn't know if you felt anything for me. So, yeah. If you're mad at me for not calling? Good."

She'd never been more turned on in her life. Everything he'd said had been fair. He'd accurately called her on her bullshit, and she like that. A lot.

"No kissing this morning." What? Had she heard him correctly? "You want to be kissed, you come and find me later. You come to me."

I'm typically a fan of the more independent, skittish, wary-of-emotional-intimacy heroines because...

...so you know the heroine was a bit much if even EYE didn't like her. She wasn't terrible and she definitely had her relatable moments— but, ultimately, she wasn't an interesting character. She was more exhausting than understandable.

Instead of reading as independent and capable, she reminded me of a three year old who refuses to let an adult help them put on their shoes and repeatedly yanks their foot away and screams "No!!" while simultaneously crying and failing miserably at the task at hand. Lmao like... bestie if you want to accomplish things on your own maybe first know how to... accomplish things... on your own.

I also found the plot and circumstances to be less developed and less interesting than the second book, which I read first and loved.

I so much needed this book. I sometimes like to binge read certain authors and I’m trying very hard not to do that with Tessa Bailey books!! I love her writing style, and her comedy and wit, as well as the small dramas that are in there. The spice is always tastefully done in my honest opinion with making you feel like you’re straight up reading porn or erotica.

Roxy Cumberland is a Jersey girl that has moved to NYC to pursue an acting career. She’s a struggling actress trying to pay bills and rent and is therefore working as a singing telegram performer. Her roommate has just kicked her out for being late one too many times in paying her half.

Louis McNally (should be spelled Lewis based on pronunciation) has family money but is also a successful attorney. He is home hungover in the middle of the day on a Thursday after celebrating the night before after winning his most recent courtroom battle.

Roxy shows up at Louis’s door to deliver a telegram sent by who Roxy assumes is his significant other? Girlfriend? One night stand? Roxy feels humiliated wearing a pink bunny costume and high heels not to mention what she’s about to sing.

After hearing a groan, Louis answers the door. Roxy is stunned by how good looking Louis is after having pictured someone middle aged. She decides his treasure trail should be called a rapture path when he answers the door wearing nothing but an unbuttoned pair of jeans. She considers his abs approachable abs. The kind you can either lick or snuggle up against based on your mood. She tries to get control of herself when she moves her eyes to his face and realizes those and are child’s play compared to his stubbles jaw, bed head and big Hershey colored eyes that are outlined by long dark lashes.

Louis is stunned as well and asks, “Am I still drunk or are you dressed like a rabbit?” His voice rough from sleep, probably, made Roxy’s tummy do a backflip.

Roxy very frankly states that she is dressed like a rabbit. Louis says okay and asks if he should be drunk for this. Again, Roxy frankly states that if anyone should be drunk for this, it should be her. Louis says “good point” he thinks there’s still some tequila left.

Roxy says, “Ya know what? I think I’m all set”. Louis nods and says, “So what now?” Roxy asks, “Are you Louis McNally?” Louis answers that he is while leaning against the door jam and considers her and states that he’s named after his grandfather and technically Louis McNally the Second and asks, “How’s that for fancy?” Roxy asks him, why he’s telling her that and Louis claims he’s just making small talk. Roxy then asks if this is a typical Thursday for him and if he gets a lot of forest creatures on his doorstep. He informs her that she is the first. She retorts, “Well then, call me Pink Bunny the First. How’s that for fancy?” Louis laughs and tells her that she sounds cute. Then asks, “You cute under there Bunny?” Roxy answers with, “Being that your one night stand sent me here to sing for you, I don’t know if that matters.” she answered sweetly. Louis states that cute girls trump all. He then asks, “What was that about singing?” Roxy clears her throat and assumes a pose then starts singing, “To my hot shot honey bunny, last night we went places and had some funny. You brought me home and we skipped the small talk, now I’m daydreaming about your perfect” as Louis interrupts with a “stooop! Jesus, please make it stop”.

Roxy tells him he better be complaining about the lyrics and not her singing. He answers sure then asks her who it was that sent her. Roxy stares at him dumbfounded, not that he can tell since she has on the bunny mask. She then asks him if he had sex with more than one girl last night. He defensively says that he was celebrating and to not be a judgmental rabbit cause they’re the worst. Roxy being more than a little disgusted says, “Okaay, my work is done here as she turns tail and starts walking away. Over her shoulder calling, “Zoe sent me. You might wanna right that down” Louis asks if she was the redhead. When Roxy stops dead in her tracks he smiles to let her know he was joking. He says, “Hold up. Can you just wait here a second? I should give you a tip”. While he’s fumbling in jeans pocket Roxy asks with a smirk, “Which tip are we referring to here? I did just sing an ode to your penis”. Louis asks her to please not remind him and drew a $20 out of his wallet and says, “Just one request though, I wanna see your face first”.

This irritates Roxy especially after her boss this morning had told her she had a strippers body. Roxy asks Louis, “Why? If you like what you see will you invite me inside? You haven’t even showered off the last girl yet”. Louis looks a little ashamed. Without giving him a chance to answer Roxy continues, “Would you expect me to be flattered?” She clutches her chest dramatically, “Please o keeper of the golden penis, let me worship at your flawless phallus”. Louis says as his shame morphs to irritation, “Careful. You’re starting to sound a little jealous to me”. Roxy incredulously says, “Jealous!” while thinking all she wants to do is wipe the smug superiority off the Penis Prince’s face, as she reached up and removed the mask. Feeling satisfied when his jaw went slack. “Jealous?” she repeats As she strolls towards him shoving him into his apartment and up against the wall by his door. “Sweetheart, I’d rock your world”. Not giving him a chance to respond, she goes up on her toes a melds her mouth to his. Louis doesn’t even hesitate. He was affecting her with that kiss. In a way she’d never felt before. He made a noise like he was starving for her and she repeated it louder while asking herself what exactly was going on. She was losing control of the situation and reminded herself to get it back. She ended the kiss and inhaled a long breath. Louis trying to breathe as well asks her, “Who the hell are you?” Feeling satisfied she plucks the $20 from his fingers and says, “I’m gone”. Then blows into the hall, bypassing the elevator and takes them 2 at a time leaving Louis staring after her.

That friends is only chapter 1!!! I love snarky Roxy and how she really makes poor Louis work for it!

Signs I lost interest in this book:

Skim through steamy scenes
I don’t care for HEA or whatever. *shrug*

Roxy : “I’ve had to work harder to do it on my own. I want to succeed on my own, without any help. And I’m going to.”
“I told you how important it was to do this on my own, and I thought you understood that. Me. You took that goal away from me.”

On the surface, it did sound like she was very independent. But her characterization came across as a woman of believing the worse of other people’s good intention, and dishing out her unreasonable stubbornness. In the end, there was still no growth in her character. I don’t get what Louis saw in Roxy and why he took a load of horseshits from her. Unconvincing romance. Lame storyline. Not a good read:/

Bored me silly. Pretty straight forward predictable read but the heroine Roxy kind of annoyed me. Her standoffish "looking out for myself only" personality and stubborn pride didn't really help me warm up to her. This is a new adult series which is a subgenre I already am allergic to and this certainly didn't help endear me with a heroine who is the Queen of misjudging situations/people and jumping to the worst conclusions at the drop of a hat. Her constantly misreading situations with the hero and trying to shut him out and running off all the time got really exhausting and stupid. It was a touch too petty and dramatic for me. I just didn't understand why the hero Louis was jumping through hoops over this girl following one kiss that manages to convert him from a supposed hot shot playboy extraordinaire to one-woman man in a matter of 3 seconds and 5 pages into the story. Oh yes, this is one of those. Insane insta-lust where we are supposed to believe two virtual strangers are crazy in lust with each other after one random encounter that involves a singing telegram, a bunny costume and kiss in Chapter 1. I could get with the fantasy but the minute you have your hero utter "they have no clue about the awesome girl she was" 30 pages in when all he knows about her is her first name then it's a done deal and you've lost me for good.

After that the book just flat-lines for me and I mentally check out no matter how hard the author tries to sell it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Every. single. time. Having your characters praise/defend a virtual stranger right off the bat much less when they haven't even shared a conversation together is just silly and cheesy to me and it just checks me out of the story faster than anything.

There is the standard Bailey dirty talk in here but even that did nothing for me. I just felt the chemistry was lacking overall. The heroine Roxy didn't even have chemistry with her 2 sweet roommates cause she "doesn't do friends". My eyes could not roll any harder. Really, girl? What kind of person doesn't want any friends? She just leaves you feeling cold and her backstory didn't help fill in those blanks. She's from Jersey and is hustling to make it as an actress but that didn't really help justify her self-centered reaction to everything including her emotional detachment to anything that doesn't involve her. That scene of her being condescendingly rude and blowing up at 2 producers of a theater play who wanted to give her the lead role was really bizarre and wasn't doing what Bailey thought it was doing. All that managed to do is make her heroine look like a rude asshole. She was upset because the producers were younger than her and the role was "beneath" her. Um...ok but you auditioned for it sweetie and you are homeless and broke. Like wtf? It was a very odd scene.

And the fact that the hero and heroine didn't even share ILY's not once in this whole story was just the extra cherry on top of the lame sundae for me. I was already planning to read Book 3 but now I gotta read Professor Ben's book too it looks like. But I'm going to take my time cause this wasn't a great start and didn't necessarily have me eager to keep going. Oh well.

I hate the heroine. Seriously, hate that annoying female. She ruined the book for me and thus I'm DNF-ing it. I can't continue reading about her. She is super super super whiney and non-stop complaining. And I'm tired of hearing about how hot she thinks she is and that her body is perfection. The hero is ok, but I'm starting to hate him due to the fact that he didn't throw the heroine down a flight of steps. If he did that, I'd like him a lot.

I started this sometime in 2015 and since it's now 2016, I'm giving up on ever finishing reading it. I've got better things to do with my time, like eat macaroons and macarons while reading books I don't want to burn. So eff off Chase Me, I'm not chasing this story anymore.

Meh. But even meh books by Tessa Bailey are incredibly fun to read.

Those two are awful together and I cannot see their relationship surviving a year. They are both incapable of using their words in a way that seems excessive even for a romance novel - a genre where nobody ever uses their words (I am obviously exaggerating).

Tessa Bailey has always been my go-to when I need a break from real life — when I’m feeling stuck or low, I turn to her for those outrageous, drama-filled romances that somehow manage to pack both chaos and heart. Her books are usually like a warm, ridiculous hug — full of steamy tension, wild plots, and lovable messes of characters. But Chase Me… this one just didn’t hit the mark for me.

Honestly, it kind of felt like she didn’t even want to write this book. The whole thing read like someone had her locked in a room with a deadline and no coffee. There’s no proper conclusion, no epilogue, and not even a satisfying beginning. The setup was so over-the-top and unbelievable that I couldn’t even suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy it.

The story follows Roxy — a struggling actress trying to make it in New York while doing random jobs to survive. She’s recently homeless, broke, and ends up working singing telegram gigs (yep, including one in a giant pink bunny costume). That’s how she meets Louis — a rich, playboy lawyer who becomes instantly obsessed with her after she shows up at his door to sing a message to his, ahem, lower half. She kisses him and bounces, and he becomes determined to track her down.

Now, this had so much potential to be a amazing, fun romance, but it ended up feeling repetitive and kind of flat. The entire relationship plays out in this weird loop: Roxy pushes Louis away, he keeps chasing her, rinse and repeat. There’s barely any character growth, and after a while, I just got tired of it.

Roxy, for all her ambition and sass, was a tough character to connect with. I get that she’s independent and proud, but she kept making things harder for herself with all the unnecessary dramatics. Sometimes it felt like she was fighting against Louis just to be difficult. And then there’s Louis — who we’re told is this carefree womanizer, but suddenly he’s head over heels and ready to commit after a bunny-suit kiss? It was such a fast, unbelievable shift that I couldn’t buy into it.

Also, for a book that sort of presents itself as a romantic comedy, it really leans more into the steamy side than the funny one. The humor was sparse, and most of the emotional beats were glossed over in favor of the physical tension. There was chemistry, sure, but not a lot of depth. I kept waiting for that one real moment between them — something emotional, something that made me root for them — but it never quite came.

Louis does have some redeeming traits — he’s into pro bono work, he’s close to his twin sisters (who totally steal the show, by the way), and he’s genuinely trying to be a good guy. Some of his attempts to impress Roxy are misguided but sweet. The twins help make him more likable and give him some softness that balances out his initial “player” image. Still, that opening scene of him not even remembering who sent the telegram really didn’t set him up as boyfriend material.

One thing I did appreciate was Roxy’s refusal to give up on her dream. Even though she’s broke and struggling, she’s still fighting to become an actress. Her grit was admirable, even if her choices sometimes made me want to shake her. That subplot with Louis helping her land an audition through a producer friend felt a little too convenient — like, I saw that twist coming from a mile away — but it did keep the story moving.

The roommates Roxy ends up with show promise too. I’m curious about their stories, which I guess is the point since this is the start of a new series. And Louis’ sisters were genuinely fun — their scenes added some much-needed personality and heart to the story.

But even with a few charming moments, the overall story felt a bit... empty. No real closure, no strong final act, and a very abrupt ending. We don’t really get a resolution for Roxy’s situation or Louis’ career dilemma. I wanted an epilogue, or at least some sense of what the future might look like for these two — but it just ends. And not in a “leave them wanting more” way — more like “wait, that’s it?”

All in all, Chase Me had the ingredients for a cute, spicy romance, but the recipe just didn’t come together for me. It was fun in parts, but not memorable. Definitely not Bailey’s best — I’d say skip it unless you’re a die-hard fan or just in the mood for something light and steamy without too much emotional investment.

Also, can we get the books for Lena and Celeste—Louis’ sisters?

No me enamoré. No.

(...)

I loved Louis he is the only reason I finished this book. He deserved to be happy and everyone calling him a manwhore not cool !! Being a single young person is New York it is easy to have casual sex.

Another thing I appreciate that Tessa gives young people freedom and understanding of there bodies. I love the safe sex!! I am so sick of every book people just filling everyone up with semen.

Sheesh, the stuff messes up your PH balance. Also, Louis’s sisters are the biggest d-heads on the planet 🌏!! Like I question if earth is big enough to hold them. Roxie’s fear of everything was unnerving. But Louis, his persistence, smiles and overall good nature won me over!! If he was in any other stories as a MC I would be down..

Happy reading everyone 😘😍😘😍

Literally never have I read something so unrealistic or cliche. I still had fun at a couple points though. I wanted a quick and easy read, and that's what I got. Although why did Roxy have to save Louis in the end.
