Light of Christmas

Rate this book
Finding my light has never been so magical…

Only a few months ago, my heart was completely shattered and my life was flipped upside down. That is, until a growly tattooed caveman swept in and turned all the lights on in my world full of darkness.

Grayson reminds me every day that I conquered my demons, encouraging me to live outside of the guilt and fear I've carried around for so long. Unfortunately that's easier said than done. But he’s got some plans up his sleeve.

Starting with a surprise trip to a town that is the perfect Christmas wonderland, this man has even more surprises around every corner. Our days are jam packed with every wintery activity in the book and some much needed relaxation. It is just the break we needed from reality, and I can’t help but fall more in love with him…and his body.

But it's not all holly jolly good times, and we're reminded soon enough that our lives back in Cliff Haven are impossible to escape. I just hope this mission doesn’t burst our perfect Christmas bubble.

A glimpse into Logan and Grayson during their first Christmas together. Definitely spicier than Accepting Fate but it wasn’t too overbearing. This was a cute light read and I fell in love with Logan and Grayson more during this book!

I loved getting to see more of Grayson and Logan together in this novella! You definitely NEED to read Accepting Fate before reading this, so much will not make sense if you don’t read it first. There are a lot of heavy topics covered so check the TW before reading! Getting a glimpse at their first Christmas together was so sweet and I loved seeing their whole family together!

ARC READ

This was such a sweet read. Just enough to put you in the spirit and continue the story. It did feel like the second relationships happening were really hard to read with the vagueness. I know we don’t know anything yet but just seemed very on the back burner I was confused. I love seeing Lo and Gray’s relationship bloom. A nice filler.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

First and foremost; thank you J. Laine for allowing me the pleasure of reading this novella as an ARC reader.

With that said, I absolutely adored this Christmas 🎄 novella with Grayson and Logan! I fell in love with these two characters in Accepting Fate! This Christmas 🎄 novella is a perfect blend of thriller, small town romance and a hint of spice, and I ate it up. I finished this book in record breaking time!

Here are my favorite quotes from this novella;

“You do surprise me every day, pretty girl. You surprise me when you wake up and choose me. I don’t think I will ever be good enough for you, but I will never let you go.”

“I’m so proud of you, pretty girl. Thank you for being my light in this crazy fucking world.”

“But what he doesn’t understand is that he is my ultimate safe space. He is my home. And most importantly, he is my light.”

“Healing will take time. Trauma never truly goes away. It will always be somewhere inside of you. And it will always show its ugly head in the happiest times. But you can either let it hold you back. Or you can kick its ugly ass and live your life you always wanted to.” This one spoke volumes to me!

“Remember what I said. I love you more than life itself, angel. I’ll see you soon. I love you too Bear. Come back to me. Always pretty girl.” That’s enough to make any girl swoon!

“You’re my safe space, pretty girl. You make everything better. I love you. Damn this man and his words. I love you too Bear.”

I recommend everyone reading Accepting Fate prior to reading Light of Christmas; but you definitely won’t be disappointed with either novels! I’m anxiously waiting for the next novel J. Laine writes!

You will definitely have to read Accepting Fate before you read this novella, as it does follow their story together after the first book and it won't make a lot of sense if you read this before the first book.

I can't believe that J made this cute novella just in time for Christmas or maybe she had it up her sleeve the whole time. It is also a perfect space/time filler before we get the second book in the series... which by the way I can't wait for!

Logan and Greyson just give me so much hope and happiness, I love these two together! These two together are a dream team with what they do. Seeing the whole family together was so cute and I can't wait to see what else happens down the line with these two!

Fav Quote(s):
"He is my home, and most importantly, he is my light."
“I’m so proud of you, pretty girl. Thank you for being my light in this crazy fucking world.”

This cute small town, romance read is amazing. Please check the trigger warnings before reading Accepting Fate!

Spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Thank you so much J Laine for allowing me to read this novella as an ARC reader!

After first reading , “Accepting Fate”, which I recommend you read before this novella, you definitely won’t regret it, I couldn’t wait to dive into this novella following Grayson and Logan! This novella has so many things you look for in a story! It has small town romance, some spice, and a little bit of suspense/thriller that wrap into the perfect “gift” of a novella!

One quote that was in this novella that really stuck with me was:

“Trauma never truly goes away. It will always be somewhere inside of you. And it will always show its ugly head in the happiest times. But you can either let it hole you back or you can kick its ugly ass and live your life the way you always wanted to.”

After reading this novella, it is just making me more excited for J Laines next novel following these characters I’ve fallen in love with! 💙

☆☆☆☆

Light of Christmas follows on after the events of Accepting Fate, so you need to of read that first. Please check the trigger warnings.

This was a cute little, spicy novella of Grayson and Logans first Christmas together. I loved being back with them and the whole family. The way they've accepted Logan is so lovely to see, and it really is the definition of family.

The spice was good, and there was a decent amount of it. What I loved most was seeing Gray and Logan back doing what they are good at. Saving people, they are literally a dream team. They always bring out the best in eachother and Grayson is so understanding and supporting of Logan and everything she's been through. Can't wait for the next book

**Check TW**

When the author said that she was writing a novella about Lo and Grays first Christmas together, I was so excited and this book is everything!

This follows Logan and Grayson from Accepting Fate so if you haven't read that yet, read it before this or there will be major spoilers.

This sweet look into Lo and Grays first Christmas together was so cute. I loved reading about their relationship because they are goals for sure. It may be a fast read but I love that it has great detail, love, action, and SPICE. The author really packed this short little novella full and it made it seem like it was a full book.

I'm already counting down until the next book in this series comes out. 😍😍

the love i have for these characters is insane. i see so much of myself and my marriage in Lo & Gray. it’s beautiful to see that even though they’ve been through so much trauma, both together & individually, that as long as they have each other and their village they will be okay. especially bc they both want a better life together than what they’ve gone through & seen others go through.
i also love Gray’s christmas present. my wife did the same thing for me. you don’t see it often, it’s very unique & special. mine was brown & black and replicated wood texture.
cant wait for the next book! i’m so excited to see how these characters continue to grow!

Light of Christmas is a holiday novella that takes place after Accepting Fate. You should read Accepting Fate first, because everything will make a lot more sense.
Always check TW’s before reading!

I completely forgot how much I missed these characters.

Grayson is such a good man who loves Logan so much! After what happens in Accepting Fate, he is so understand and patient with Logan, it made my heart swell. You also get to see some of Logan’s healing and see how strong she really is. We did get some of our favorite characters back and meet some new ones.

I can’t wait for the second book!

This book was such a quick and cute read. I loved it and how Gray and Logan were dealing with everything after what happened in accepting fate. I thought it was adorable what they planned for eachother and this book was just what i needed. There are some triggers that happen in the book when they are sent on a mission so definitely check the warnings prior to reading! This was a 10/10 for me and cannot wait for the next book! Thank you J for the arc copy, forever grateful! Highly recommend reading!! (PS. The spice is lovely)

What can I say. This book was absolutely beautiful.
A perfect little taste of our favourite book couple Grayson and Logan.
Their adventure will make your hearts melt and the room get warm all over again

Spice level was perfect! My favourite quote this time round "Angel stop looking at my c*ck like it's a goddam lollipop or do something about it" I laughed out loud when I read it 🤣

Overall this book gives you the feels, the perfect addition to the first book, and how much Logan has progressed.

Truly a bravo, your writing is alway a pleasure to read! Cannot wait for the next adventure!

I loved being able to revisit Logan and Greyson in this Christmas novella. It makes me even more excited for what’s to come next in this series for all the character’s we fell in love with from the first book. This was a super quick read and full of everything I loved about Accepting Fate.

If you haven’t read Logan and Greyson’s story in Accepting Fate. You should go read that before this novella. Though it isn’t necessary to read it first it would be more beneficial for the reader. Happy Reading!

Light of Christmas was everything! We get to go back to Logan and Grayson and see happy times. The dark times aren’t gone but we get to see how their love has evolved and how Logan is dealing. I loved seeing them spend their first Christmas together.

Logan is an inspirational character and I love being able to see her grow in this novella.

Please check trigger warnings. Accepted Fate is the full book where you can find Logan and Grayson’s story.

“He is my home. And most importantly, he is my light”

I loved this novella! I love these characters and I know that this series is going to end up being one of my favourite found family.

Like in Accepting fate though, I thought the nicknames were way too overused. But loved this nonetheless.

⭐ 3.5/5

Cons:
Meh, this could have been better if I'm being honest. I had high hopes for this since accepting fate was such a great book. I get that this book is just their Christmas trip, but it was very cringy. The amount of time the name "Caveman" or Logan being called "my girl" in Grayson's POV was over the top.. just because he is overprotective doesn't make them a caveman. Cavemen usually have no manners and do/take what they want, so if anything it would be an insult. The smut in the book is the most cringy part of the book, i honestly skipped over it which is sad because almost every chapter has some.. I found it also very unrealistic how fast she supposedly got over her crippling anxiety, people still suffer for years. With this book is seems like Logan is "cured" within a few months, even if there is the constant reminder of "i use to do this" or "i use to feel this".. Last is the lack of plot.

Pros:
I love how much their relationship continues to grow. For Christmas they both do thing that matter most to one another. Its over all a sweet love story that is growing over the pages in the book. I enjoyed how the characters still kept their "kid at heart" personalities that was present in the first book. Overall the good is a good feel good book to fill time between books.

"He is my ultimate safe space. He is my home. And most importantly, he is my light."

I was so excited when Ms. Laine said she was giving Grayson and Logan a Christmas story because I could not get enough of them in Accepting Fate. In Light of Christmas we get an even better version of them.

It has been some months since the ending of Accepting Fate and these two are closer than ever. I swear they are like the moon and the earth....they constantly orbit around each other. There is no hiding the gravitational pull between them. Grayson is just as sweet as ever, always putting Logan's safety and mental health above all else. The man was made to be her savior turned partner.

Logan is still healing but there is no doubt in my mind the progress she has made has a lot to do with Grayson, her bear! She deserves the trip he surprises her with and all the normalcy he strives to bring back into her life. This girl deserves all the love of a family and she now has it.

Everything about this novella is pure perfection. Ms. Laine knows how to write a MMC who dotes on his love and a FMC that can hold her own against her caveman. While I loved reading all of the Gray and Lo alone moments I especially loved how his family all makes an appearance and we see how much they have welcomed Logan into the mix and how much Grayson's mother absolutely loves her. The love and devotion with all the members of the Hayes family shines so bright in this story. I was definitely left with some intrigue where Grayson's brother Landon is concerned and cannot wait for his story.

Grayson and Logan have my heart. I love the way they love each other and it was extra special to see how their relationship has continued since Accepting Fate. How they both have learned to trust each other and move in their respective traumas with each other is a great exploration of loving someone even on the hard days. I also thought it was incredibly heartwarming the way they can read each other. It comes off so well on the page.

My favorite part of the Fated to You series will always be the missions, so I was so excited to see a mission written into the novella. And what a crazy one it was! I just think they take the story from being a typical dark romance to having a high stakes feel that is so unique. I can’t wait to continue reading about the Hayes brothers falling in love and saving victims in the most badass way.

3.5 ⭐️ instead of 4 because of the spice. J. Laine can write spice with the best of them, so I was a little thrown off that it all seemed very repetitive. Especially because Logan and Gray were on vacation, so there was opportunity to do something out of the norm. I don’t think that should deter you from reading, especially if you loved Accepting Fate like me because there’s something so special about the connection these two characters have.

- Possessive/Protective Hero
-Holiday Novella
- Angsty/Spicy
- Mental Health Representation
- Found Family

This was such a perfect christmas novella for Logan and Grey. After everything they’ve been through in Accepting Fate they definitely deserve their forever. This was a perfect blend of a feel good christmas novella plus a little suspense added in. Its a fast read maybe 120 pages. I finished this book within an hour of starting.

You have to read Accepting Fate before diving into Light of Christmas. Or else the story wont make much sense.

I love the relationship between Grey and Logan. They bring out the best of each other. Plus we get lots of spice during their christmas break!

I’m super excited to see where J Laine takes the story next. We definitely got some hints on who the next couple is!

Just like Accepting Fate, Light if Christmas deals with some heavy topics that some people may find triggering. Please read the trigger warning!

💙 Love Love Love 💙

Loved loved loved Light of Christmas!! It gave me the Gray and Lo aspects I needed with all the Christmas vibes I wanted 💙 Really enjoyed their first Christmas!

This one was short, sweet and super spicy 🔥🔥 As always, Grayson has a way with words and doesn’t disappoint 🥵🥵🥵 … I believe Logan says it best when she says, “This freaking man will be the death of me one day with that mouth.” I have to agree completely because wheeewww.

I love how the book highlighted things from Accepting Fate and we got just a little bit more into the story 💙 I also enjoyed the highlights of mental health as well 💙 Can’t wait for more because I can’t get enough of this story.

First of all I want to thank author J.Laine for allowing be to read this as an ARC. Below is my honest review.

First off if you have read and loved accepting date you have to read this book. This is what my soul needed to read in continuing their story. Having the time set around Christmas made the whole book a little more romantic and serene. Reading about their lives now, after all the craziness in the last book, takes on a certain calmness and allows their characters to develop more so with each other. I enjoyed how much these two have grown to understand each other in such a deep and passionate way. There were several times it brought tears to my eyes just reading how they connect. Also, let’s not sleep on Christmas in this book. This ended in the perfect way. Once again J.Laine pulled me into these characters story and left me wanting more. Well done! I can’t wait to read whatever comes next.!

J did it again with an AMAZING book! The continuation of Logan and Grayson's story was absolutely great. This was a short SPICY novella, and it couldn't have been better. I'm excited to read more about Allie and Landon in the next book as well. Logan and Gray go on a trip to get away, they are relaxing and having a great time. Logan is getting out of her head with everything that happened recently and actually having fun. They take turns surprising each other with fun activities, when Landon calls them for a mission. Since they are in the area they agree to help and takes a lot out of both of them. At the end of the day, they decide they want to go home and spend Christmas with their family because that's what is most important to them. I loved it and can't wait for more!

First off, you definitely have to read "Accepting Fate" first!
As always, check TWs before reading.

Now, Gray and Logan are my favorite couple. I absolutely love the story of their first Christmas together, and it wouldn't be normal without a bit of drama added into the mix. The love and chemistry that Logan and Gray share is something undeniable. This book is a quick heart felt novella. You get a sweet love story, and as always, a touch of spice!

J. Laine definitely has a way with her writing and I cannot wait to swoon over her next book! I don't know if anyone will ever top My Angel and Caveman but I can't wait to read more and see how they compare!

Loved this sweet and spicy holiday novella. I loved Accepting Fate and happy to see both Logan and Grayson again. Logan has definitely come a long way since the last book and you continue to see it throughout this novella.

Grayson is truly a great man and does everything he can to make Logan happy. I love that he wanted Logan to get away for a bit on a nice holiday vacation. It felt like almost a hallmark ish vibes and I loved it!!

This book made me smile, tear up and laugh. Such a fun story with a little action. Love seeing Logan in action to help another woman in need.

Can’t wait for the next book!!

I love me some Logan and Grayson, and this cute little novella helped with the craving of wanting more of them after reading Accepting Fate.

Such a cute, sweet, and fun novella but still had its darks moments. Once I started I couldn’t stop reading. These two are such a lovely couple and you can’t help but want more. That’s the only thing “negative” I can say about this book… I. Need. More!
I am can’t wait to see what else J. Laine has in store with this series and getting to know the other characters better.

Definite must read! But make sure to check those triggers warners.
