Rawest Venom is … I have no idea how to explain RV without telling all the things. It’s Kitty King’s trademark grit and action, but it’s simultaneously like no KK novel you’ve read so far. It’s dark and pushes boundaries. It’s kinky fuckery at its best. It’s action, head games, and emotion. That tells you everything and nothing so just read the dang book.

To start this is book 2 in the compass series and is NOT a standalone. Please go back and read book 1, Beastly Armory, for a better understanding of this world.

We open with our girl Jane, seemingly innocent front store worker who has a major crush on her boss, Calum, Cal for short (Liv’s twin… you remember our sly fox). Anywho Jane’s MO is to date other men to try and catch Cal’s attention, make him jealous, make him fall for her. Do ya thing girl, make him chase you 😉.

Jane… is not who we think our chance encounter with her dating other men leads one to winding up dead, and Strauss’s men on her case. Cal comes to the rescue like the hero we want, gives her a shoulder, offers legal services, to train her and throws a date on the table 🥹. Swoon worthy am I right ?

Cal, our resident tech god, however has his own motives, he is searching for something within Jane it seems, he notices small details, he is watching her. These micro expressions he sees the “true” her and then for him it’s gone and disgust fills his veins.

On top of this things are stirring in Gnarled Pine, talks of another society are in the air. Cal isn’t sure who he can trust, there is a leak somewhere and he is destined to find it. After all everyone lies….Nothing that is true stays.

There is tension, there is hate, animosity, passion, possession, two masked chase scenes 😈 AND LOTS OF SPICY TIME (the kinks list goes on and on babes).

What can I say book 2 outdid book 1. I mean Kitty King gets a slow clap for this one because we continue to build on the world that we already had and gain more insight into the turmoil of these people and the territories. Strauss may not be what he seems, we get plot twists galore, and an unexpected jaw dropping reunion of shorts.

The character development in this book is peak because we have two characters that believe they are broken beyond repair. Each using their own survival tactics to just push through the day, Cal is dosing and Jane is disassociating. However, once they are truly able to come together and trust it’s like a fire 🔥. It’s beautiful, passionate, fierce and protective.

Cal learns who he can trust and how to truly smile again and see beauty. Jane learns who she is and how to be a person and not a tool. What more can we ask for in this dystopian world.

What in the actual hell did I just read?! Like you think you know what’s going to come but nope Kitty just straight up says hold my beer and mind fucks the hell out of you! I mean good news is I didn’t fucking cry and yell at her like after what happened to Derichs so that was a plus. Honestly though I felt like I was just in one big hallucination because how do you even write this?! I have to say I do love me some Cal though but he is so damn twisted that it has me questioning my sanity at how much I love him. For real they should do some study on me. I did say in our group chat crazy recognizes crazy LOL. Also our girl Jane! Yeah I mean can’t say I saw that one coming. I like to say I am pretty good at guessing clues and there was only ONE thing I was 100% accurate on and again that’s because my crazy recognized crazy 🤷🏻‍♀️ So many theories and I am going to just sit here in my misery because I know Kitty is not going to take the rest of this series east on us 😮‍💨

So everything I thought I knew before starting this book was wrong…I had seen a few teasers that I was so glad I was wrong about…just goes to prove don’t believe everything you think until you have confirmation

We briefly saw Calum in Beastly Armory…twin brother to Livia & best friend of Maximillian…he also suffer from sins of a parent…well his father….sometimes those sins from the past catches up with the children

Then you have Jane…I honestly didn’t know how I felt about her till about half way through the book…I had a love hate relationship with her….then her walls started to crumble a little & I really started to figure her out…once you see her bigger picture & what all has happened to her you get it

Twists & turns you don’t see coming keeps you invested in their story….some questions left open from the Beastly Armory are answered….I was pretty sure I knew the answer to one of them but needed to see it in print to be positive….of course this book brought up a whole new batch of questions I’m going to need answered

If you have read Beastly Armory give Rawest Venom a read…this is not a standalone & should be read in order
Do check the trigger warnings…there are quite a few…some minor but some could be considered pretty major…

This book is mind blowing!! Absolutely phenomenal and will definitely live rent free in my head! Fell in love with Cal even though in the beginning he was such a brat of the things he did to Jane. I absolutely love Cal and Jane’s story!
You need to read Beastly Armory first and then this book! This is not a standalone! I cannot wait for the next book in the series! I need more from Kitty!
Please read Trigger Warnings before reading this book! There’s a lot of dark elements!

Kitty freaking King. This book is absolutely phenomenal. My mind was blown with this book. This is my favorite book in the history of books.

Cal is just on a whole new level when it comes for MMC. Reading about him and Jane was not what I was expecting at all and is something that I will never forget.

You need to read Beastly Armory and then you NEED to read this book. You NEED to read all of these so you can continue the series because I know the next two books will not disappoint.

Please make sure you check the warnings for this book because there are a whole lot but it is worth it!

Kitty King has ruined all other men for me. Cal is incredible! He goes on such a hard journey of self discovery. Jane is perfect for him, almost like she was built for him... IYKYK! This is fantastic and I cannot wait for book 3! This story is shaping up to be something amazing, the twist I feel is coming is going to break me I'm sure!

Kitty freaking King! Omg when I say I was lost for words when I finished this book I mean it. This book is the biggest mindfuckery you can get but in a good way. 😉 The beginning of this book I was like hmm okay what the hell is going on because I was a bit confused 🤣 but then it all starts unfolding and then was like HOL-EEY SHHITTT. 😮 I don’t want to say anything that will give anything away because you just need to go read it for yourself and go in blind. This book will have you questioning everything and everyone, have you giggling at times, and have your mouth on the floor other times.

This is book 2 of the series and is NOT a standalone. Book 1, Beastly Armory needs to be read first.

Every time I read a Kitty King book I think, this is the best book ever. But with Rawest Venom, she's really outdone herself.
The thrills, suspense, and the entire way this story was weaved left me speechless.

I really loved Cal's point of view. He sees things differently than most people, and I loved his viewpoint of the other characters and Gnarled Pine.
He's unhinged in some of my favorite ways.

We're also introduced to Jane. She was such an interesting character as well.
There is so much that happens in this book I want to talk about, but don't want to spoil, so go read it for yourself!

Every time you think you know what's going to happen, surprise, the unexpected. This book kept me on my toes!

This is book two in The Compass Series, so be sure to read Beastly Armory first.

If beastly armory was a bloody good time then this was an chaotic puzzel of a good time that will leave you feeling like you've tried Cals supply. The fantasy like world building continues in this sequel and then is amplified by 10. This story gave off trippy mr robot vibes that give you the impression of 3 different stories happening at once and make you question whats real, whats reality.. and you have to keep it all straight even with the double talk because they all relate and youll lose the game if you slip up on which reality is real. The tunnel vision this book gave me (I was cooking, eating, doing laundry all while reading this, shoot i even showered with my phone in a sandwich bag because I was so invested) resulted in the craziest bookhangover I've ever had and it's taken me time to be able to collect my thoughts to try and convince you to read this book because wow is my mind in a state 😆.. without a doubt in my mind, this should be marketed as a dark (horrorish?) rom com because I was laughing so much throughout this entire journey but it was also so sweet and touching (had me belting out I want to know what love is by foreigner at one point) but then would remind you the nature of this beast and why we questioning reality… also don't let the rom com let you think that means this books trigger warnings should be ignored, no way!! Absolutely read them but if you're here on book 2 then you should know the darkness level of this series (it is amped up in this book). But enough about me.. some selling points: spooky funhouse WITH MIRRORS, double talk banter, chill fmc, new kink unlocked? (Idk about you but I'd like to wake up feeling refreshed 😆😆), Joker and Harley Quinn vibes, he buys her books and wants to try them out, billionaire boyfriend, masked man chasing you, so. much. moreeeee.

I was fortunate to be a beta reader for Rawest Venom and I am so excited for this one to finally be out in the world. Beastly Armory was spicy chaos, but Rawest Venom is a spicy mindf*ck. Every single piece of information you get will be called into question, raked over, and dissected before you can decide what to do with iI. Needless to say, this book makes for an amazing reread as you find hidden clues all along the way every single time. Is Jane's stalker a silent protector or are they pulling strings in a bigger plot? Is Cal's erratic behavior the sign of a mad genius or something more sinister? All I know is that everyone lies. Even I.

Kitty did it again! I absolutely loved this book and I took my time with reading only because I knew it would end on a cliffhanger and I did not want the book the end. I am so ready for the next book! I can’t wait to see what happens next!! Cal is my favorite so far from this series. This book starts off so twisted and confusing as you only get pieces of the puzzle and as you read more things start to make sense. It of course ends on a cliffhanger and I’m impatiently awaiting the next book!

THIS BOOK! I spent a good hour trying to form a coherent thought after finishing this book. The story is so good and twisted, and the spice is everything you would expect from the Kink Sherpa, Kitty King. Prepare yourself to question everything while reading this book!

This is the second installment of Kitty King’s The Compass Series. It is deliciously dark! I had so many emotions reading this. I thought Cal was an A-hole at the very beginning of the book. I soon learned that he is a mystery. An unhinged mystery. Once you learn his story you see why he is the way he is and why he does the things he does. I fell completely in love with him. I didn’t like Jane at first either. I thought she was needy and indecisive but again once you learn her story you see why. This series has a hold of me and I cannot wait for the next 2. This is not a standalone book and you will need to read Beastly Armory first. This is very dark and full of triggers so beware.

Please read all the TW before reading this book- that being said, WOW.
This was one of the most alluring and well written books I have ever read. Cal and Jane's story is so enigmatic and entrancing. The writing mimics the euphoria in the book and I seriously was lost in the writing. The twists and turns truly were shocking and unexpected. I thought I knew the direction the book was going about three different times and then was whipped down another path.
Jane and Cal both have lives that make you wonder about what's going on inside of them, what caused them to be this way, etc, and when you learn the how and the why, as well as the way their lives intersect, it is jaw dropping and gut wrenching.
This book is easily one of the most incredible reads and I highly HIGHLY recommend it. 5 stars is not enough.

Writing this book felt like a reprieve for my mind. It starts off tangled and twisted, then the knots tighten just before each thread unravels and aligns until it forms a cohesive unit. This is Book two in the compass series and it is NOT a standalone, Beastly Armory is first and let me tell you, just go ahead and read both, stop everything and just do it. have an open mind and just read them, you will not be disappointed!!

In the beginning I was allll for Jane and then the biggest bomb dropped, first thought, mind blown 🤯 second thought, no harm can ever come to Cal.

Cal won over my heart by the end of the book. Everyone has their own way of coping but once Cal and Jane get over everything and truly begin to trust each other it is 🔥

There is self discovery, drama, twist and turns and soooo much going on and I am here for all of it

Jane & Cal

This world is one of my absolute favorites, and I’m so excited to be back in Gnarled Pine Hollow. I’ve been intrigued by the mystery that is Cal since the very first book. He’s dark, hot, mysterious, and confident with enough ego to bring any woman to her knees. He’s also genius level smart. Underestimating him would prove to be a grave mistake.

I wasn’t exactly impressed by Jane if the first few chapters of the book. She seemed plain. But trust me absolutely nothing is as it seems. She’s more complex than I ever could have imagined.

I don’t want to give away any spoilers but this entire book was a chaotic mindf#ck. Don’t be surprised when the puzzle pieces don’t fit. The twists, turns, and surprises were excellently executed. I had so much fun reading this, and I definitely recommend it.

Kitty King put everything here, literally for me this book set a high score in sp!cy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and the story of the dystopian world!!! Wow! I need more now! I’m so ready for all the twists that are coming next! This book took me out of the slump.

This is a DARK stalker thriller. This will not be for everyone and you MUST check the TW/CW before starting. The content, both on and off page, will not be suitable for everyone. This covers very dark topics that may be triggering.

This book lured me in with the promise of a good time with its lengthy catalogue of tropes/kinks and I’ll tell you what… it absolutely delivered. It sucked me right in, chewed me the fcuk up and spat me out. This was NOT what I was expecting,… it was sooooo much more. What a mind blowing trip it was (mind the pun 😏)

I never thought anything would top Beastly Armory (the first book in this series, you MUST read this before starting RV) but this raised the bar to a seriously high level. It had everything you would want in a book plus loads of extras you didn’t know you needed either. Kitty has yet again surpassed herself with the enticing world of Gnarled Pine Hollow. This world is like no other; it is so uniquely written to stand out amongst all other book worlds. I fell in love with it in book one and my love for it has grown tenfold.

The feels this book gave me were unreal; I couldn’t put it down. It had me gripped in a sensual chokehold throughout the entire book. I HAD to know what would happen next. My mind was running a million miles an hour trying to figure out the complex and hidden meanings. There are so many twists and turns in this book, you never know which way you’re facing. Kitty throws you down the rabbit hole head first with this one. It was thrilling and left me wanting more. I could not get enough of it; I was addicted to everything this book had to offer.

The characters were written superbly, each one so different and complex. The level of detail and empathy in both the characters and their development was brilliant. The world building was phenomenal, as briefly mentioned above, this world is like no other. The sheer number of tropes/kinks included in this book was impressive and they all worked well. Everything about the book just worked, it was amazing.

We’re thrown back into the world of Gnarled Pine Hallow but this time venturing across to the West side to visit the Von Dovish family. Cal is the head of the West side (Fox) and this is his story.

Cal is by far my favourite character of this book. I just love him so much. He’s clever, witty, possessive, oh and he’s obsessive (red flag material right here!). I thoroughly enjoyed his part of the story. It was intriguing, exciting and mind blowing. He kept you on your toes until the very end and even after that as you were still reeling with everything that had happened in the book.
Jane was a constant enigma in the beginning. I could not get a read on her, or what I thought I knew, turned out to be completely wrong. It was a little frustrating but what’s life without a bit mystery? Boring. It all added to the story.
I enjoyed the interactions between the pair, it made for an interesting read watching them beat around the bush when it came to dealing with one another. The chemistry was frighteningly hot and quite a few of the scenes had me gasping. There was no holding back with this book; it was all guns blazing.

Kitty, I applaude you. This is my version of a standing ovation ♥️ Your books never cease to amaze me. I cannot wait for the next instalment in this freaking fabulous series.

I can't with this! I mean seriously, the thought and attention that's put into this story is beyond incredible and this whole world is very immersive and I'm completely blown away.

Just when I thought I had figured something out a twist came along and blew it all up. Cal and Jane had such an interesting dynamic, and my thoughts about these people changed all the time. I will say, slowly seeing their walls come down and getting to see the bigger picture (although with a lot still hidden) was very awesome and helped me understand them better.

Having seen some of the teasers for this book I really had no idea what to expect, but that made the reading experience that much better - I got to experience it all as the author intended, and be both shocked, surprised and feeling the whole range of emotions throughout.
Getting some answers to the events of BA was great, but I was left with even more, and now I'm just that much more anxious for the rest of this incredible, mindblowing, steamy, twisted and dark series!

Please, beware you have to read book 1 (Beastly armory) first and also, it has its fair share of triggers...

My gosh these series gets better and darker!

Jane is trying to play hard to get with Cal by dating other guys and bad things are starting to happen. Cal is there to help every time.

Cal is the head of the West side of Gnarled Pine Hollow. He is a super genius with computers and he tries his best to take care of his people. Cal is trying to figure out how to get the North, South, East and West to work together to take down the unknown threat.

I absolutely loved these characters and I love me some Cal! There is more I want to say but it will definitely spoil the book and that is not me.

I thought I knew what I was walking to before reading this book and all I know is that I was wrong in my assumptions! My mind is blown from how great this book is and it is now my top Kitty King story because the way Cal was written was an entire new level for me in the world of male characters. I also really liked how Cal handled his journey of self discovery and that Jane was almost made for him in a way. With the perfect amount of spice, trauma and humor, this book kept me on my toes! Be sure to read Beastly Armory as it’s the first book of the series and check the trigger warnings!!

K.K started strong with book 1 of this series: Beastly Armory. BA was my last 5⭐️ read of 2023 and honestly was one of only a small few for the year. I can say 1000% that Rawest Venom tops it! This book blew my mind and I have come to realise that I’m pretty obsessed with this dystopian world. RV is full of mysteries and half the time I gaslighted myself into thinking I knew what was going on… Shocker, I didn’t. Even in the last 5 minutes of the book, I was hit with some pretty huge revelations. Kitty King has done it again! So I’m not gonna lie, I was super confused for like 40% of this book but I liked it. It was trippy, mysterious, kinky chaos and I was here for it! Then it shifts to like all piece together and make sense and it’s like you can feel the puzzle pieces fitting together in your mind. I love love love Cal and V! Beastly Armory was good, but this was great!

The beginning had me thinking, I MEAN I HAD TI TURN ON MY BRAIN REAL HARD, because wow… what a start! As the story continues, you just dive deeper and deeper into the universe and won’t be able to stop!

It honestly felt like it was a movie playing in my head, and man oh man do I love when a book does that to my little brain, makes me all giddy and excited 😻

The spice was PHENOMENAL— but I mean, it’s Kitty we’re talking about. Nothing new. Were there parts that made me pause and take a moment? Yes. Because she just throws new shit at you and you need a minute to figure out your whole existence again 😆🫶🏻

Honestly, this series is the perfect balance of plot and spice. The writing is beyond amazing. You get to be one with the characters. I’m just obsessed 😌
