Mim the Mouse & A Friend In Need

Rate this book
"...He was most definitely a wood-mouse rather than a house-mouse like Mim. He stood there proudly in green dungarees that looked like they had been mended clumsily several times. As Mim looked at him more closely, she could tell there was something distinctly wild about him. Perhaps it was because his tail was muddy or his fur rather weather-worn. However, he had kind eyes that were gazing at her with concerned curiosity."

Mim the Mouse is the cleverest little mouse you will ever meet. Although her house looks just like a chewed-up hole in the skirting board in a dusty corner of a human's house, on the inside, she has made it the most cosy and beautiful miniature home anymouse could ask for.

One hot, summer's day, Mim decides to forage for blackberries to make the most delicious pie. When a mishap leaves her injured and far from home, her tears are replaced by hope when she encounters Morris, a wood-mouse who knows the secrets of the wild.

Morris, with his wealth of herbal knowledge, offers to help Mim, and together they embark on a perilous journey through the woods where they must brave a terrible storm, encounter the rushing river and escape the talons of a monstrous owl. In this enchanting tale of courage and loyalty, Mim and Morris prove that even in the wildest of circumstances, the greatest treasures are found in the warmth of friendship.

Amy McIntosh is an author, illustrator and the creator of Mim the Mouse and her tiny world. She gained a degree in Drama from The University of Exeter and is currently working as a Drama teacher in Dorset.

When she’s not writing or marking school books, you’ll find her tangled up with bundles of wool and paint splashed on her face as she always has a crafty project on the go!

Amy has also always been a keen performer in both professional and amateur theatre. Notable roles in Musical Theatre include Sarah in Guys and Dolls, Maria in The Sound of Music, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady and Maria in West Side Story. Being a classically trained lyric soprano, Amy is also fond of light Opera and Gilbert and Sullivan and has played Josephine in HMS Pinafore, Tessa in The Gondoliers, Aline in The Sorcerer and Peep-Bo in The Mikado.

Amy first created Mim the Mouse with a crochet hook in 2019 and has subsequently become obsessed with crafting miniatures and sharing Mim’s mouseventures with the world via social media. She published her first illustrated children’s book: Mim the Mouse and The Christmas Gift in August 2022. Amy hopes to start writing the next Mim the Mouse book very soon (providing she stops building more mouse houses!)
