In "Destroying the Magical Shield," Brenda Trim invites readers on a wild and whimsical adventure where menopause meets mythical mayhem in the captivating world of the Backside of Forty coven. As Fiona, Aislinn, and Violet navigate their midlife journeys with humor and magic, they find themselves thrust into a crisis of goddess-sized proportions.

Artemis, the formidable huntress of legend, faces a relentless artifact determined to unravel her secrets and diminish her divine power. It's up to the savvy witches of the Backside of Forty to intervene, embarking on a quest that leads them to the very heart of Mount Olympus. Their mission: to safeguard Artemis's sovereignty by any means necessary, even if it means delving into the goddess's private sanctum.

But breaking into Artemis's inner chambers is just the beginning of their cosmic conundrum. Trim masterfully weaves Olympian politics, divine dramas, and the ever-fluctuating hormones of midlife into a spellbinding tale where wit and sharp spellcasting skills are their greatest assets. As they race against time to find the artifact and preserve Artemis's divinity, the coven discovers that their own powers and friendships are tested like never before.

"Buckle up" indeed, as Trim takes readers on a hilarious and hair-raising journey through a cosmos where wrinkles and witchcraft collide in unexpected and delightful ways. Amidst the chaos, Fiona, Aislinn, and Violet prove that age is just a number when it comes to courage, wit, and the ability to wield magic in the face of extraordinary challenges.

"Destroying the Magical Shield" is not just a tale of mythical proportions; it's a celebration of friendship, resilience, and the enduring power of women who refuse to let age define their adventures. Trim's blend of humor, fantasy, and heartwarming camaraderie makes this latest installment of the Midlife Mysteries & Magic series a must-read for anyone who enjoys a good laugh, a touch of magic, and a journey that transcends the ordinary.

Little niggles

I am enjoying the overall story but continue to have little annoying things that crop up showing lack of research into the country, people and the language used. I would be less offended if it was just all based on Americanism and no research has been to depict the British characters but some has been done . Examples are the use of the term 'walked a couple of blocks ' this is an American term and is not used in Britain. We don't really have a definitive alternative to this . But woukd probably jusy say something like we walked along the street for - then depending on the persom the might use time eg walked for 5 minutes, try to depict the mileage like a few yard or half a mile , or we walked halfway up the street. The one that was really annoying though was the use of the slang word quid the that means a singular pound. When they were in the nocturne realm and were told money wasn't needed the response was ,that's good as I only have quid with me' we just would not utter that sentence as it does not make sense apart from the fact that not everyone uses the slang word it does not gramatically make sense as it means 1 single pound so we would not say I only have pound , we would say I only have 1 pound or 1 quid or 10 pound or 10 quid but not just i only have quid, we would not even make it plural by saying I only have quids as it is just not used in that way.

Fiona, Aislinn, and Violet celebrating the uncursing of a friend when Artemis materializes on their driveway. She is not the put together goddess they normally interact with instead she is totally ruffled. She is quite distressed and snippy. Then she explains what is going on...someone is trying to steal her power. There is a magical artifact that she discovered in her walking and when she touched it it started to siphon her powers. She managed to get away but now it's following her. She wants her girls to find it and who sent it. So now it's all hands on deck as they find themselves in Artemis's abode on Mount Olympus. Of all things, now they have to manoever around olympian politics!!?? Then Artemis rearranges Grams house and Grams is fit to be tied or in this case, zapped. Mishaps, misadventure and deadly outcomes are all a part of these women's lives. Now they get to visit the God's realm. Will they survive? Will they be able to find the perp? Will Grams get her old house back?
A cozy comedy wrapped in a mystery wrapped in deadly adventure. One to be read and reread!!!.

Oh My Goddess!

Fiona, Aislinn, and Violet are requested to assist with a possibly cursed artifact, a shield that may have been cursed by one of the celestial beings and has been siphoning Artemis' power along with following her around in her abode within Olympus. As Olympus is primarily for those not of mortal blood, our brave heroes are whisked to Olympus for clues and quite taken aback by the spectacular sights to behold. Artemis has some suspicions of whom may be the celestial being behind the cursed shield and warns our heroes to remain focused. Needless to say, and without providing spoilers, there are additional characters that offer their own skills, such as the relic hunter and together they attempt to unravel the mystery and perhaps find a solution for Artemis and maybe the goddess under suspicion. Artemis' also attempts to experience a more mortal environment while staying away from the cursed shield. This story was a fun addition to the series and highly suggest reading the others to have a history of the characters.

Realm hopping and saving the goddess
Lots of realm hoping going on, not by choice, but getting the job done is quite the feat this time around! World traveling along with realm hopping, the girls have to rely on each other heavily and their bond pulls them tight! Their inner warriors are put to the test and their minds along with it. Hopefully we hear more about Mt. Tambora in the relic hunter series. I love how Ms. Trim intertwines all three series at times and the interaction is fluid with all the stories. Just like in real life where we rely on several groups of people to help us through the tuff times! Love these stories!

I have to say that this book was the craziest one yet for the Backside of 40: Fiona, Violet and Aislinn have to protect Artemis from a magical shield that if it catches the Goddess will suck all of her powers out. I spent the entire time muttering out loud, laughing/ giggling, or punching a pillow or chewing on my nails as I read. Seriously, they need a vacation after this. I want a vacation after reading it, lol. I even teared up a few times. We learn more about demigods than I wanted to know and there are a bunch of reveals and revelations. Total mayhem and the fight scenes are awesome and yet terrifying in some spots.

It's book 45 in the series, with at least 5 more books to be released in the series.
If you have liked the series so far you will continue on reading them.
For me, it was only ok only because I like a different kind of writing flow in the book I read and I'm sure if you have liked the series so far you will continue to. I have not read all 45, just a few of them, as the writing style is not for me.
Good on the writer for having a series going that long, well done for that.

This is yet another wild ride for our amazing ladies. How they can keep leaving their fellas and children behind is beyond me, but hey, when duty calls.

The BOF certainly turn up the heat 🥵 on this latest quest, but as always, the ladies save the day despite having to defend themselves constantly in this harrowing realm.

I must admit, though, it was unbearable to witness the loss of a friend regardless of her being a phoenix. It's not something that is easy to digest.

Overall, another great read!.

Jetting off to a seaside paradise that turns into the trip from hell for our hunters. Given another quest by the goddess to find an artifact that is trying to drain her, our heros go to the rescue. They are thrust into a magical place where not all is as it seems but there are allies to aid them in their quest.

This is another fantastical installment to the BoF universe. Loved it, as usual, and can't wait to read more.

This is book 45 of Midlife Mysteries and Magic. This mystery it will take the Covent to Mount Olympus and have to deal with Gods and Goddesses. At the beginning of the book, it already gets you chuckling with grandma not happy with her house being magically remolded. This book has characters who are older and dealing with midlife crisis. I think this is one of the reasons I like it so much. I couldn't put the book down and look forward to the next adventure.

This group of friends are so funny and badass. I can't believe they are pressed into saving a Goddess and come out of it breathing. Always running into danger and traps at every turn, this series has you thinking and turning the pages as fast as we can read. I highly recommend this book. I have become invested in these characters almost as friends.

Everyone had gathered at Pim's Pondside when Artemis suddenly appeared looking disheveled. A magical shield had attached to her and begun sucking her power out. She gruesomely cut it off and headed directly to the Backside of Forty, which set them off on their next magical adventure. This story has plenty of action and some romance, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

Lots of action as we dive back into this incredible and magical world. Our ladies, Fiona, Violet, and Aislinn battle on as they try to help Artemis out and it’s laughs and giggles and a little danger and drama as we realm hop along with them. Exciting, thrilling and twists and turns galore, this had me hooked and on the edge of my seat the whole read. I don’t know about these ladies needing a holiday, I think I need one!!!

Brilliant Series

Destroying the Magical Shield (Midlife Witchery Book 17) by Brenda Trim. Artemis appears in Pymms Pondside and tells the Backside of Forty there is a magical shield made by the goddess Metis that is syphoning her power. Fiona, Violet and Aesling set off on a journey that takes them into realms controlled by the goddess Nyx who has taken control of the shield.

Thieving Shield
Who else would the goddess turn to when another goddess sends her magical shield to strip Artemis of her powers? There is plenty of chicanery, danger, and adventure along the way to securing the shield. A great read.

same stuff, different day.

I suspect I have outgrown these Midlife mysteries and magic multiple series. My tastes have changed since I started the series, I no longer care to read about the backside of 40, and their dealings with Artemis.

An unwelcome guest has moved into Fiona's gran's house - Artemis. It seems there is a magical shield following her around and trying to siphon off her power and she needs a place to hide while the BoF get the thing off her tail. It takes the women awhile to track the shield down, but catching it isn't so easy. It smacks them into Nocturne, a realm created by Nyx, the goddess of night. But since it was Nyx they were following when the shield slammed them, they don't feel much safer. They have to figure out how to get back to their own realm and continue their mission.

Lots of a action, as usual, as Fiona, Violet, and Aislinn fight their way through several realms and attempt to tame a shield created by a goddess to drain another goddess. Ah, fun times. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Book 17 in the Midlife Witchery series....wow the back side of forty have their hands full this time.

They have to find the magical shield which involves realm hopping before it steals all of Artemis' powers.

Will the Fionna, Aislinn, and Violet find the magical shield? Will they save Artemis?

The author really knows how to keep the story going and how to keep you reading. It was a hard one to put down. The writing is amazing and the characters are like old friends now. I cheer them on with every adventure.

Highly recommend.
