A brilliant billionaire boss. A crush she can’t shake. A Christmas she’ll never forget.
Ivy Steadman is not in love with her boss. Because first of all, technically speaking, she’s an independent contractor, so he’s not her boss. And second of all, she’s way too professional to fall for someone she works with. Someone it’s her job to sell to the public. Someone who only thinks of her as a colleague, or, at best, a friend. Only a fool would fall for their own marketing like that.
Alec Ames is completely in love with his PR Specialist. He’s tried to keep it professional, but there’s no denying the chemistry between him and Ivy. He thinks she just might feel the same way. There’s really only one way to find out.
His plan? Sweep her off her feet at the big holiday party he’s throwing for all the employees. He’s got the perfect night planned, from the lush and elegant Christmas decor to the string quartet ready with her favorite holiday song. What could possibly go wrong?
Billionaire for Christmas is a sweet, billionaire boss, holiday rom-com short story. A bite-size treat perfect for cuddling up with when you need a feel-good break between holiday tasks or for a quick dose of Christmas magic any time of year. It is part of the Sweet & Swoonworthy Billionaires series. Expect banter and charm, with a PG vibe that includes mild language, closed doors, and guaranteed smiles.
Laurie Baxter has degrees in both puppetry and screenwriting because let’s face it, majoring in English would have been no more useful and way less fun. She loves chocolate, ice cream, chocolate ice cream, dogs, New York City, old movies, modern architecture, all kinds of theater, and music from before she was born. Her eighth grade English teacher told her to become a writer, so she did.
This was cute, a lot of lack of communication but it made for a build up and beautiful ending. I loved have both of their POVs, but didn't like that it was 3rd person. Still cute enough to overlook that!
Super cute, quick and just what I needed. Really enjoyed it. I’d have liked to read a full story surrounding these two characters and how they met, worked together and fell for each other. Not sure if here is a full book, will have to look.
This was such a cute read omg! I was like hurry up and tell each other already!! 😂 I really enjoyed it and I don’t see any reason not to give it a 5 stars, it was funny and cute and made me very happy ♡
A short sweet Holiday romance featuring Alex and Ivy. She's his PR specialist, very professiona and never mixes her work and personal life. The romance basically takes place over a two hour Christmas party. The book is well written and didn't feel rushed as most short stories to. The characters were great and their chemistry was explosive. A good read that was enjoyable and fun to read.
This is a super short will they won’t they romance. Due to its length there isn’t much wider story, it’s a miscommunication dual pov experience where both parties like each other and are talking themselves out of admitting it to each other at a party.
It was well written and a quick read, the mmc is a billionaire and the fmc is his PR agent. It’s very sweet back and forth and you want to just bump their heads together! Before it gets too tense though it ends up a cute romantic comedy.
Both characters were endearing and I could really imagine the whole scenario and the couple getting miscommunication signals.
I could have read a full story about the build to the relationship and I couldn’t really fault the story! It’s clean and adorable, the party was at Christmas and they exchanged gifts but it wasn’t hugely Christmassy.
Disclaimer: I'm not a big fan of Billionaire stories. BUT I am a big fan of Laurie Baxter's writing.
It turns out, thankfully, that one of the protagonists being a billionaire has not all that much to do with the storyline. If he didn't happen to be a rather newly-minted, self-made rich guy, Alec would probably fall into the "kind-hearted, hot nerd" category of romance heroes - which incidentally is one of my favorites. ;)
Ivy is overthinking so much, she's not only second-guessing but third- and fourth-guessing every little detail. (Been there, done that. Sans billionaire, though.)
All in all, it's an quick, entertaining read with some funny and some swoony moments.
Genre: contemporary Tropes: workplace romance, novella, miscommunication trope Spice: glimpses and kisses Content Warnings: none POV: 3rd person POV, floating between MMC and FMC Medium: e-book owned, read it on Kindle e-reader
Ivy has been working closely with Alec for months, using her PR finesse to elevate the tech billionaire's public image. It has worked! And Ivy is just as infatuated with her boss as everyone else is now. But she doesn't want to cross that line of professional camaraderie that they have built.
Alec has decided that tonight is the night that he will finally tell Ivy how he feels about her. Will she reciprocate? Or will he ruin the best thing that he has going in his life?
This was such a cute romance, I will even forgive the usage of the miscommunication trope. These two characters are both head over heels for each other, and both are afraid to take the leap!! The back and forth all throughout the Christmas party was so sweet. A delightful read.
Ivy is a P.R specialist for Alec Ames who’s a self made billionaire Ivy was there to make Alec look good and have a positive public image and it worked but the only problem was is that Ivy fell for the pitch as well and now she has fallen for him too but she was too scared that she was going to get hurt because he didn’t feel the same way about her he was online being nice to her wasn’t he?. Alec was nervous he owned a billion dollar company he spoke to clients all the time but when it comes to Ivy he felt like a schoolboy with a crush but he was going to tell her how he felt tonight and he’s hoping that she feels the same. This is a wonderful short Christmas romance story I also had a chuckle with a few scenes and once you read this book you will understand what I mean and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Love Xmas shorts. I just don't have time for super long ones during the holiday season. Eeee.
Ivy is trying to not crush on her boss. Alec also is fighting his feelings for his PR specialist. He's tried to keep it professional, but alas...the chemistry is too much. His plan is to sweep her off her feet at the big holiday party he's throwing for all the employees. What could go wrong?
Cringe, but a cute cringe. Does that make sense? LOL the chemistry was there but man....................all around awkward. I get that Alec wanted to impress her, but at the Christmas Party? Weird.
But they are cute and perfect together. I'm curious to see what is in store for them. I don't think book 1 is about them, but I'm sure we'll see them around and the backlash.
Cute and slightly awkward. Nice quickie read for the holiday.
A very short billionaire novella that is well written with interesting characters. The author has written a good story about Alec, the Billionaire, and Ivy, his PR rep for his company. Some of this story takes place during a Christmas party for the employees and I was so impressed with the thoughtfulness that went into Alec's personal gifts to his employees. The author has given depth to her main characters with a sweet, clean romance that is a quick read. I obtained this book with my KU, but this is my honest and voluntary review of this book. VICKI FROM WYOMING
Tropes: co-workers to lovers, miscommunication from both
Super easy and quick read. I mean it’s less than 40 pages so not to much drama or connecting to the characters can happen. Book takes place during a holiday party so a few hours at most I suppose. It does make slight mention to the fact that they’ve known each other for almost a year and this romance has been building between. A flashback to the past few months may have helped me feel more connected to them and the romance. I did love that other coworkers had been gossiping and speculating about them being together.
Alec is a Billionaire, but the story doesn't put a lot of emphasis on that. He is a kind-hearted nerd. Ivy is his PR Specialist and thinks she can't have feelings for him because she works for him. It took them some time but they finally both reveal their feelings for each other. Basically a sweet, clean romance with a little language that could have been left out. There is some humor in the story, especially when it is revealed that coworkers have already been speculating and gossiping about the two of them being together. I received a free copy of the book and this is my honest review.
This is my first book by Laurie Baxter and I wasn't disappointed. It's a well-written fast-paced Holiday Romance. Alec and Ivy are both attracted to each other but with their work relationship and friendship neither has let on about their feelings. Now it's the big Christmas party and all glittery and romantic. Alec is determined to let his love know she holds his heart.
I liked this short story. Ivy is in love with her "boss". Alec is in love with his PR specialist Ivy. Neither is aware of how the other feels. Alec decides he will let Ivy know how he feels at his Christmas party and has it all planned out. Things don't go how he planned...
I'm giving it 4 stars because it ended so abruptly, that I wasn't prepared.

This is a short and sweet read about two people who like each other as more than friends and about one night which could change everything between them. The characters were good, the story flowed well and kept my interest. For me, the ending let this story down it finished too abruptly for my liking and left me thinking is that it? One more chapter or an epilogue would have probably sorted that out.

Good story, but so short It's a good romance, that takes place over one or two hours at a party. The characters of Ivy and Alec work together and are attracted to each other, but they never confessed it and Ivy never accepted this attraction for her wealthy boss. All night, Alec tries to get closer to her, while Ivy thinks she imagines things and that this attraction is only the result of her imagination. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Know what you are getting: not a long story but the author does an amazing job of filling in all the gaps so that it is not full of holes while also not rushing too much.
I felt that the author had the ability to convey some depth to the personalities of the characters, despite the length of the book, bringing a greater sense of reality to her story.

I am not usually fond of short stories. They feel rushed. Characters are underdeveloped. But this was a fun night to spend with Ivy & Alec. The author managed to develop characters and setting quickly. They were adorable. There was good chemistry and I’m a sucker for dual perspectives. Though it’s quick, it leaves the story complete. I’m a sucker for a good Will-they won’t-they.
Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength, happiness with a happily ever after. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed. Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

A billionaire and his PR manager finally taking a next step towards building their relationship from a professional to personal level. But it was such a quick read and I definitely wanted more!
This a sweet novella with a side of crush on the boss. Ivy has been the PR rep for ZephyrTech for almost a year working closely with its owner Alec. They clearly having unexpressed feelings for each other but taking a chance is scary. While short, the characters were well developed and the storyline was engaging and evoked all the feels. It was a fun enjoyable read.
Laurie has crafted a terrific story of love and attraction. The writing is concise and wonderful, every line enjoyable. Ivy and Alex are so real and watching them try to express their feelings amid frequent interruptions had me groaning and smiling with frustration and the knowledge that their happy ending was coming. Thank you, Laurie. I'm looking forward to more of your work.
Ivy has been the PR rep for ZephyrTech working directly with her boss Alex for almost a year. Their relationship has always been professional and has made the company so successful. But at the annual end of the year party, their in expressed feelings finally come out to one another. It's a very sweet, clean and fun short story for the holidays. I really enjoyed this author's writing style and look forward to reading a full length novel!
This was a cute short story. But I can't help but be annoyed that there wasn't a dialogue about both Ivy and Alec's misunderstanding about each other. I mean, they did eventually kiss and that squared everything away but it would've been better had Ivy asked Alec if she'd read all his signals wrong that night which in turn would've made Alec understand her odd behavior and running off. And then the passionate toe curling kiss.
