Before starting, I wanted to thank Ericka for providing me with this copy of her book in exchange for an honest review. This will be a spoiler-free review.

Echoes of Destiny is a strong sequel to Mission of the Ro'arck. I enjoyed Mission of the Ro'arck so much that I jumped directly into Ericka's sequel, Echoes of Destiny! This story expands on all that was good in the first book and elevates it to another level!

We now have multiple POVs and a new cast of lovable (and not so lovable) characters who enrich this expanding galaxy. Ericka's voice and prose has continued to develop and solidify as she guides us through this sprawling space opera.

Without giving away spoilers for Mission of the Ro'arck, we pick up after a time jump from the first book and dive right into the action. This is definitely a darker book than the proceeding entry. However, Ericka maintains the humor and levity that existed in Mission of the Ro'arck.

The interactions between Kaytrix and the Nevo are fascinating. Throughout the story, she gives us details about their relationship, but there's so much more I want to know! The lore and worldbuilding is wonderful. Her ability to weave mystery and intrigue into her world building makes me excited to continue reading her series.

She's already hinted at a side project dealing with one of the characters in this book (one of my favorites!!) that I can't wait to read before she tackles book #3. Echoes of Destiny did everything it needed to do to keep my excitement and anticipation in this series high. I can't wait to read Ericka's next book!

Kaytrix wakes up in a preservation tank unsure of how he got there. But when his cloaked rescuer will give him no answers, and his mind provides no memories, he’ll have to fight for himself, and choose who to trust, to overcome the darkness pressing in on him.

This epic space adventure was fun to follow. Right from the start you’ll be wrapped up in Kaytrix’s story, and excited to get the answers to so many questions! This book takes on exciting new twists with a classic ‘rebels in space’ feel. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a space adventure with characters worth fighting for and old school space opera vibes.

The plot starts off with a bang and keeps a really nice pace throughout the story. I wish I had a bit more in some areas but it moved along smoothly and never stalled. I loved having glimpses into the workings outside of Kaytrix’s plotline and oh my that ending!

The world is really cool. Like it’s predecessor, ships are a huge part of the world and life on a ship seemed nicely fleshed out. Loved all the worlds we visited. The differing technologies and advancements were very cool and I was in it for all the classic feels of a fun sc-fi.

The characters were great. Kaytrix is someone to believe in and the characters he meets along the way were dynamic and really cool. There were definitely reps of symptoms of trauma in different ways which was done very well. I’d like to see us diving deeper into some backstories in future.

The writing was good and I would definitely recommending it for those that like a straightforward approach to a story, without the writing being too flowery. The pacing was really enjoyable and the POV switched seamlessly throughout the book. I can’t wait to see how the series continues!

This is Ericka Evren’s sequel to her debut novel, the Mission of the Ro’arck. Kaytrix Tovex once again finds himself in a bind. He awakens to realise he’s a prisoner of sorts, tortured and subjected to horrible things. His rescuer, a mysterious bounty hunter, takes him to a distant planet to hide. But most disturbing, he has no memory of his past. As he tries to piece together the sporadic images that flash in his mind, he’s confused as to why the Nevo, a sinister enemy and controller of the galaxy, are chasing him. Circumstances soon lead him to a group of misfit companions on an old spaceship. Together, with a tenuous understanding that they would help him solve the mystery of who he is, they are inevitably flung directly into the path of the Nevo. Soon, all is revealed to him, including something odd growing inside him. This exciting sequel hit the ground running from the get-go. Written with a sharper, punchier kick compared to her debut novel, Evren is finding her voice and it is strong. Checking all the boxes of space opera, science fiction, action-adventure and intrigue, it was a delight to read. Eagerly looking forward to part three.

A second in trilogy that DOES NOT SAG!
This story is even more interesting and compelling that the first, and it will be very hard to write an in-depth review of it without spoiling it.

I love how everything tied together by the end and I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the third story, which may be told more from Alissia's pov. I'll be happy for that but I'll really miss having Kaytrix's pov.

One thing that could have been better is Kaytrix questioning his identity and origins MORE in the first quarter of this story. It wasn't quite amnesia he suffered as, when he wakes, He immediately knows his own first name, but doesn't recognize his surname when mentioned. He doesn't remember his black farmer tattoos, which might have been completely obscured by a new tattoo, but when he regains his knowledge, these new tattoos don't play a part. Yet... they might have more weight in the next in series.

Lord Khelveliz is an absolute tyrant on page. All of the Nevo characters have awesome presence and Kaytrix is their equal pound for pound. The dialogue between them is always fantastic. This enemy is terrifying and I love to despise them.
All of the scenes at the Nevo base were gritty and oh sooo interesting.

I loved the ragtag crew aboard the Dauntless and their family dynamics. There's also a heart-wrenching betrayal that I didn't see coming-- and it really hurt because I was rooting so hard for this character.

This and the first book are a story I would absolutely reread and it's a story that deserves the big screen someday!

This is your nudge to start this series for yourself!
I couldn't make this book last long enough to get me straight into book III.
There wasn't a single character I didn't like, nor a single moment that was easy to put the book down.

Again, great worldbuilding. Nothing much else to say. The expansion of the galaxy is very smooth and easy to follow, especially when there’s a huge time jump.

Rag tag group: Love the fact that, in combination with the worldbuilding, there are other species coming together to stop the Nevo.

Mystery: The biggest question was how long was the time jump. Keeping it a secret until the end made me continue to read. Having that big of a time jump really put everything into perspective: that Kaytrix kind of felt out of place and out of sync along with his foggy memory.
Kaytrix: what I love the most is that we get to see his impact from Mission of the Ro’arck. The Last Stand meant something to everyone. It went down as a legend, and that he inspired many characters. How much more did he inspire others in the galaxy even after the time that has passed.

Multiple POVs: the shifting POVs were easy to follow. Though it got somewhat convoluted and made the middle drag a bit, it wasn’t too much of a problem. It was just noticeable. Personally, I wanted to see more of Kaytrix and keep leaning on the mystery of himself and the mysterious time jump. But knowing more about the other characters is always a plus.

Leaves room for questions that brought me to wanting the third book soon!!

Overall, this sequel was very enjoyable to read. I had a blast reading! I can’t wait for Book 3, whenever that’ll be (hopefully it won’t be too long).

Excellent follow up!

I enjoyed the first book, but this sequel exceeded my expectations and introduced a charming cast of characters. When Kaytrix wakes up without his memories, a mysterious bounty hunter and a crew of outcasts must help him while the threat of the Nevo looms. The family dynamics between the crew really endeared me, and I can't wait to see what's next for Kaytrix!

In the aftermath of the Archarian downfall, the Dexsortes galaxy faces extinction under the oppressive rule of the Nevo. Only one hope remains: Kaytrix, with a compromised memory, holds the key to survival. As he seeks answers to his past, the Nevo hunt him relentlessly.
Taking refuge among a band of misfits aboard a battered ship, Kaytrix's true identity sparks conflict within the group. Time is of the essence as Kaytrix races against the clock to stop the forces threatening to overtake him and the galaxy once more.
With his memory returning and a mysterious force taking hold of him, failure is not an option, even if it means sacrificing his own life.

Echoes of Destiny, the sequel to Mission of the Ro'arck, is such a wild ride. The author, Ericka Evren, made some seriously gutsy moves with the main protagonist, Kaytrix. It's something I wouldn't have thought of and I won't discuss spoilers here, but it goes to the very heart of what a person truly is, and who they are when you strip away the trappings of their life.

My favorite parts were definitely the found family aspects and the protagonist's internal struggles. The author handles those so skillfully, getting me fully invested and keeping me guessing at which way the plot would finally turn. The way Kaytrix's past and present collide, especially toward the end, is just perfect. It's a really powerful and heartfelt payoff that feels so earned.

I also have to give the author props for the twists. The finale is just... wow. It's the kind of bold move that shows she isn't afraid to shake things up and keep you guessing. In the end, there is just the right amount of unresolved questions and loose ends to make me hyped to see what happens in the next book. This series just keeps getting better!

Ericka Evren's book 2 of the Archarian Series: Echoes of Destiny had me hooked from the beginning. I found her ability to capture the crew of Dauntless and their chemistry to be creative and realistic. The worlds she built were from beautiful to horrifying.

I only realised how addicted to the story I was, when my Kindle run out of battery. I was desperately trying to get it back on and felt a massive disappointment when the device wouldn't turn right back on even after plugged to a charger.
