So lovely to be back in Apple Hill Bay, this time with Roo and Theo. Two characters that are so easy to take to your heart but both suffering from lack of communicationitus. Which becomes apparent after a shock second meeting.
With a new job Roo is full of excitement and so is shocked when spoiler alert she discovers who her new boss is and that there is a no dating policy. Time to put that secret crush back in the cupboard with the office supplies, before the office gossip (she’s a great baddie) gets out of control.
There is something very comforting about Holly’s books. Easy to like characters, romantic storylines with just enough depth to make it real and beautiful scenery. This one also had lots of local wildlife, a secret society and the threat of someone destroying it all.

Ik heb de EPUB van Zomer & Keuning ontvangen, hierbij mijn eerlijke mening:
Een heerlijke feelgood romance die perfect past bij warme zomerdagen. Het verhaal heeft een luchtige, ontspannen sfeer en neemt je vanaf de eerste bladzijde mee. De schrijfstijl is vlot en toegankelijk, waardoor je makkelijk in het verhaal komt en het boek in korte tijd uitleest.
Wat ik iets minder vond, is dat sommige verhaallijnen zich herhaalden, waardoor het soms voorspelbaar aanvoelde. Ook zaten er behoorlijk veel verschillende plotlijnen in, wat enerzijds voor afwisseling en verrassende wendingen zorgde, maar anderzijds af en toe wat verwarrend maakte welke richting het verhaal precies opging.
Toch heb ik het boek met plezier gelezen. De combinatie van romantiek, humor en zomerse sferen maakt het een fijne feelgood voor tussendoor. Daarom krijgt het van mij ⭐️⭐️⭐️!

3.5/5. Zo’n schattig boek, heerlijk voor de zomer!! Ik las deze op het strand en ging helemaal op in het verhaal. Leuke main characters waar ik helemaal bij mee kon leven én een super plot.

Een verhaal met meer lagen dan de cover doet vermoeden.
Als je de cover van Het strandhuis op Strawberry Sands ziet, denk je misschien: ah, een lekkere zomerse strandroman vol zon, zee en zwijmelmomenten. Maar niets is minder waar. Het strand is erbij, zeker, maar het echte verhaal speelt zich vooral af op de werkvloer. Wat ik juist leuk vond.

Wat me meteen opviel, is dat dit geen standaard feelgood is. Ja, er zit romantiek in, maar de nadruk ligt op persoonlijke groei. De hoofdpersoon is kwetsbaar. Ze worstelt met haar verleden, zoekt naar rust en betekenis, en leert langzaam weer openstaan voor het leven (en misschien ook een beetje voor de liefde).
Wat ik zelf erg leuk vond, was de dynamiek tussen baas en medewerker. Geen stereotype romance, maar een relatie die zich rustig ontwikkelt, met wederzijds begrip, respect en subtiele spanning. Heerlijk om te lezen!
Dus nee, dit is niet het typische “zomerse strandboek” dat je misschien verwacht. Maar het is een verhaal over opnieuw beginnen, keuzes maken en kleine momenten die veel betekenen. En juist dat maakt het de moeite waard.

Wat is het fijn om terug te zijn in Apple Hill Bay en dit keer met Roo en Theo. Twee personages die je zo makkelijk in je hart sluit. Mijn gevoel wordt bij dit tweede boek bevestigd. Holly haar boeken hebben iets troostends. Personages waar je makkelijk van houdt, romantische verhaallijnen met net genoeg diepgang om het realistisch te doen aanvoelen en een prachtige omgeving op de achtergrond.
De chemie tussen Roo en Theo is zo hartverwarmend mooi verweven in het verhaal. Het was vanaf het begin duidelijk dat deze twee zijn voorbestemd voor elkaar. Ik heb genoten van dit verhaal dat zich concentreerde op Theo's interesse in het dierenopvangcentrum, wat zijn zorgzame en zelfopofferende kant liet zien. Roo lijkt een doorsnee hoofdpersonage, maar dat was zij voor mij absoluut niet. Ze heeft het zwaar te verduren gehad in haar leven en met haar nieuwe baan lijkt ook niet alles op rolletjes te lopen. Ik zit eigenlijk op het moment in hetzelfde schuitje (wat werk en collega's betreft) als Roo. Dus ik snapte elke handeling van haar richting haar collega's en leidinggevenden.
Het grote thema in dit boek zijn dieren. Van dierenuitgeverij waar Roo voor werkt tot de dierenbescherming waarmee ze te maken krijgt. Dieren en het beschermen van bedreigde diersoorten staan centraal in dit boek. Ook komen bekende personages weer terug uit het eerste deel wat mij meteen deed aanvoelen als thuiskomen.
Met interessante personages en een gevarieerde plot is dit het perfecte zomerse feelgood verhaal. Het zit vol met opbeurende momenten die met een grote glimlach zullen achterlaten.
Ik kijk erg uit naar het volgende deel, want dit blijft smaken naar meer.

I love Holly Martin’s writing, and this one has definitely secured a place as a favourite. If you’ve not read her books, then you can expect romance by the barrowload as she turns up the heat on mutual attractions.
Roo is a terrific character, she’s harboured a crush on Theo since their teenage years and she is determined to recapture the friendship that she once held so dearly. She didn’t have the best childhood but her ties to the local area bring back more joy than pain and she’s soon rediscovering the familiar faces from her youth. Of course, she’s delighted to find that Theo has remained in Apple Hill Bay and soon finds that her crush has stood the test of time and she’s pulled back to her old feelings.
Theo is a every inch the leading man and is determined not to ruin a second chance with Roo’s friendship. He’s clearly successful and has a new level of confidence that Roo never noticed before. He’s still a family man at heart and that family was one he always shared with Roo.
As Roo starts a new job with a local publisher, she has a massive shock that could mean the end of her plans to stay in Apple Hill Bay. Despite her initial wariness, she continues her work as a graphic designer and there’s a very special nod to Holly’s beloved dog, Skipper.
This is a gorgeous story, and it features a writing style that I relish with a dynamic that I love. Of course, I don’t include spoilers, so you’ll need to read the book if you want to learn more about their friendship. Holly Martin creates characters that are both relatable and completely authentic. Her characters are believable, and I was totally invested in their development. Having worked for a couple of publishing companies, it was fun to revisit that environment.
I even learned something new about squirrels…

Het strandhuis op Strawberry Sands van Holly Martin is een heerlijk zomers feelgoodboek dat de lezer meeneemt naar het pittoreske kustplaatsje Apple Hill Bay. In dit tweede deel van de serie keert Roo Clarke na veertien jaar terug naar haar geboortedorp om haar leven opnieuw op te bouwen. Ze koopt een charmant huisje aan het strand, het strandhuis op Strawberry Sands, en probeert er een nieuw begin te maken. Daar ontmoet ze haar jeugdvriend Theo Lucas, de jongen van wie ze ooit hield en die nog steeds in het dorp woont. De vonk tussen hen blijkt nog altijd aanwezig, maar hun verleden en de jaren die tussen hen in liggen maken het niet eenvoudig om elkaar weer echt toe te laten. De setting van het verhaal is zonder twijfel een van de sterkste punten van het boek. Holly Martin weet de kustplaats zo beeldend te beschrijven dat je de zilte zeelucht bijna kunt ruiken. Het dorp, het strand, de kleine gemeenschap, alles ademt warmte en gezelligheid. Ook de toevoeging van een dierenopvangcentrum geeft het verhaal een extra laag, waardoor het niet alleen over liefde en tweede kansen gaat, maar ook over zorgzaamheid en verbondenheid met de natuur. De hoofdpersonages Roo en Theo zijn sympathiek en herkenbaar. Roo’s verlangen om opnieuw te beginnen, gecombineerd met haar onzekerheid over de toekomst, maakt haar menselijk en invoelbaar. Theo is een klassieke feelgoodheld: loyaal, geduldig en met een vleugje melancholie. De chemie tussen hen is goed voelbaar en hun band groeit op natuurlijke wijze. De bijfiguren zorgen voor kleur en humor. Martin schrijft in een vlotte, toegankelijke stijl die je moeiteloos door het verhaal heen trekt. De toon is warm en vriendelijk, perfect voor wie behoefte heeft aan een boek dat ontspant en een glimlach oproept. Er zit weinig echte spanning in het verhaal; de conflicten zijn klein en de wendingen voorspelbaar, maar dat hoort bij het genre. Het strandhuis op Strawberry Sands is geen roman die je leest om verrast te worden, maar om even te ontsnappen aan de dagelijkse drukte en je te verliezen in een zonnige, troostrijke wereld.

It's always a joy to dive straight into a new Holly Martin novel, and this was absolutely no exception. I felt right at home between the pages within the first chapter, and it just grew from there.
I've just re-read the blurb and realised that just about everything I'd love to mention in this review, would be potentially regarded as a spoiler, so this will be tricky.
But I loved the connection between Roo and Theo, right from when Roo walks back into town and discovers Theo is still there, and it's clear there is unfinished business between them. And getting to know them both was wonderful.
It was lovely to be back in Apple Hill Bay, and to meet up with some familiar faces from the previous book too.
Animal lovers will love this book, as there is a clear theme of wildlife and rescuing, and also publishing to do with pets, but I aren't stay any more other than, I couldn't get enough of these storylines. There is also a plot to do with workplace rumours and relationships.
There are every now and then amusing emails from the office manager, who seems far more concerned with petty quibbles with things going on in the office, than it actually being a good place to work.
This has all of Holly Martin's trademark warmth, romantic flare and generally feel good feeling about it. Whether like me you are a massive fan of this author, or brand new to her, this is easily a fabulous book, and will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling too!

When When I started reading this book?
A lot of things sounded familiar. I remember reading about fern and artist who was worth working on a project on the beach. Fern had a week to do a mural on the tunnel towards the beach.There was also a guy called Fergus working on the opposite side of the tunnel doing the same. His name was Fergus. They were competing for a prize of around £50000. Fern wanted her own artist business. I can't member much more, but the names Orla,Theo, and shane all seemed very familiar to. The rest of this story has played out very well. Aurora gets a dhovk when she starts her new job,after being away from apple Hill Bay for the last 15 years. Aurora gets introduced to the CEO by Charlie, who turns out to be her oldest friend Theo, who she had spent the previous evening with having hot sex. Aurora couldn't believe it was Theo's company she was going to be working at. They stood still in amazement for a couple of minutes, then Aurora shook Theo's hand and said, "Nice to meet you. Charlie couldn't work out what was going on ? Did they hate each other,was there a problem. Theo told Charlie later they had been best friends till she left 15 years ago to go to Chicago with her dad & he had known her as roo and a different surname. Things happen, and they decide to keep their relationship private. They continue to see each other and become the top subject of the office gossip. You need to read the book now, or things will not be very interesting. I hope you all enjoy the book as much as me.

Are you a Holly Martin fan? Well I certainly am. I find a need for all different sorts of book in my life and when I want some damn fine romance in my life, she is one of the authors I can turn to. I know I'll never be disappointed. She writes great characters as well as storylines which are set in the real world, ( although imaginary places set in our world,) and in the current time. Her characters face very real issues, in this book we have gossiping/ bullying in the work place, being in foster care, never fitting in where you are so travelling from place to place and not settling. On top of that we have a wildlife rescue centre in jeopardy!
Out two main protagonists, Theo and Holly are so beautifully written as well as some of the heat between them. The sex is not graffically written, more inferred.
As an ex wildlife keeper, many years ago I could so easily understand what happiness and sadness they go through on that front too.
If you want a gorgeous and uplifting story then this is for you.
Also note, Holly self publishes, and so has none of the big firms pushing her books. Go on, give her a boost and buy one of her books.

Ik mocht van Zomer & Keuning de Nederlandse vertaling van dit boek 'Het strandhuis op Strawberry Sands' als lees exemplaar ontvangen!
Het verhaal gaat over Roo en Theo. Roo keert na jaren terug in het dorpje Apple Hill Bay, ze kwam haar oude vriend Theo weer tegen waar ze het weer enorm leuk mee had. Ze begon ook aan nieuwe baan en ze kwam erachter dat Theo ook nog is haar baas is. Dit zorgde voor aardig wat drama in het bedrijf..
Buiten dat Theo directeur is van een bedrijf, is hij ook vrijwilliger van het dierenasiel 'Little Paws' wanneer het bedrijf goed leek te gaan komt er een bekende van Theo in beeld die hier enorm roet in het eten gooit..
Kort samengevat! Een feel good romance met veel drama en situaties!
Ik heb dit boek 3 sterren gegeven omdat dit boek in het 3de persoon is geschreven en ik hier persoonlijk geen fan van ben. Ook is dit mijn aller eerste feel good boek en vond ik dit te langdradig en te vredig voor mij waardoor ik op deze beoordeling kwam.
Mocht je dit geen probleem vinden en wel van houden raad ik dit boek zeker aan!

Het verhaal gaat over Roo en Theo. Roo keert na jaren terug in het dorpje Apple Hill Bay, ze kwam haar oude vriend Theo weer tegen waar ze het weer enorm leuk mee had. Ze begon ook aan nieuwe baan en ze kwam erachter dat Theo ook nog is haar baas is. Dit zorgde voor aardig wat drama in het bedrijf..
Buiten dat Theo directeur is van een bedrijf, is hij ook vrijwilliger van het dierenasiel 'Little Paws' wanneer het bedrijf goed leek te gaan komt er een bekende van Theo in beeld die hier enorm roet in het eten gooit..
Kort samengevat! Een feel good romance met veel drama en situaties!
Ik heb dit boek 3 sterren gegeven omdat dit boek in het 3de persoon is geschreven en ik hier persoonlijk geen fan van ben. Ook is dit mijn aller eerste feel good boek en vond ik dit te langdradig en te vredig voor mij waardoor ik op deze beoordeling kwam.
Mocht je dit geen probleem vinden en wel van houden raad ik dit boek zeker aan!

Na 14 jaar te zijn weggebleven, keert Roo Clarcke terug naar huis. Apple Hill Bay, de enige plaats waar ze zich ooit thuis voelde. Ze ziet het al helemaal voor zich, een nieuwe baan, een charmante strandhut. Dit wordt Roo's nieuwe start. Maar als Roo's jeugdliefde plots weer ten tonele verschijnt, lijken al haar goede plannen aan het wankelen gebracht. Het strandhuis op Strawberry Sands las weer weg als een trein, was feelgood- voorspelbaar –wat ik bij feelgood overigens heel fijn vind- en had gewoon alles wat een boek moet hebben om je een goed gevoel te geven.
Leuke personages, een prachtige, gedetailleerd uitgewerkte setting en een plaats waar je je als lezer thuis voelt. Holly Martin is elke keer weer een beetje thuiskomen. En soms, moet dat echt niet meer zijn.

If you are a follower of my reviews you will know I had a little girl just over 6 months ago (HOW is she 6 months already!) and since then I have found it harder and harder to concentrate on reading. When I picked up this book however I blocked out the rest of the world and soon became fully immersed in Theo and Roo's story. From the very first page I felt like I had come home and in a blink I had read half the book.
Theo and Roo had the best chemistry. Having both had secret crushes on each other as teenagers they were both shocked and happy to see each other again. It was obvious from the start that these two were end game despite Roo's resistance. Theo is everything you expect as the leading male character. He is kind, big hearted and damn hot! Roo is a easy main character to root for. She has been through the mill in her life and you just want everything to work out for her and Theo.
The big theme in this book are animals. From the pet publishing company that Roo works for to the wildlife rescue that they are partnered with, animals and their preservation are central in this book.
This book is the perfect summer romance story. It's full of uplifting moments that will leave you with a big smile.

I’ve been a big Holly Martin fan for many years now, so it’s always a happy moment to get absorbed in one of her books. The Cottage on Strawberry Sands was no exception.
I loved this book, and once I’d picked it up, I couldn’t put it down. I love the setting of Apple Hill Bay, and the cast of characters that live there. I loved reading about the animal rescue centre, Little Paws, and the work they do. I also loved Pet Protagonist (can’t say any more about that because of spoilers).
I loved the main characters in this book. Roo and Theo are both lovable, caring people, in spite of their pasts. I loved seeing how they got reacquainted and overcame the hurdles in their lives.
If you’re looking for a warm hearted and fun romance, that is a joy to read, pick this one.

Theo and Roo's instant spark after fourteen years apart led to a whirlwind romance. Their new beginning started with a bang that quickly turned to heartbreak for this reader as reality hit them the very next day. Luckily there wasn't too much angst when these two realised they couldn't bear to be apart for long. They were so sweet together yet also hot! I loved these two (and all of the characters of Apple Hill Bay)!
Roo had finally found her home after many years drifting from job to job, and place to place. Apple Hill Bay had always held a piece of he heart, and so had Theo. Holly's writing is always like coming home to me too, so I felt what Roo felt!
Theo is the perfect hero of the story, so kind, patient, thoughtful, loving, and so in need of a happy ending! Luckily that's exactly what he gets!

The Cottage on Strawberry Sands is a charming, sweet, and romantic read from Holly Martin I am a big fan of her books, and this one is a new favorite.
Roo and Theo were the best of friends as teenagers, but lost touch when Roo moved to the US. Now, she's back in town and the two finally have a chance to see if a romantic relationship between them could work. They are so well suited for one another, and I loved how they opened up and shared their feelings and experiences early on. For friends to more romances to work you have to believe in the connection they share. It was easy to see how close they were and how much they loved one another. I loved the dual POV and getting to see how they each felt about their relationship and getting to know each other again as adults.
This is book two in a series, and you can read it as standalone. I highly recommend both the first book and this one, too. Both are enjoyable, engaging, and sweet reads with fantastic HEAs.

Roo en Theo deelden vroeger een bijzondere vriendschap, en stiekem was ze altijd al een beetje verliefd op hem. Dit boek is ook weer een heerlijke feelgoodroman. Ik geniet toch altijd zó van de boeken van Holly Martin, ze weet me telkens weer helemaal mee te nemen in haar verhalen. Bij dit boek had ik ook meteen zin om af te reizen naar Apple Hill Bay. Haar verhalen maken me altijd direct vrolijk, en vanaf de eerste bladzijde ben ik al verkocht.
Ze schrijft op zo’n mooie en beeldende manier dat nog geen enkel boek van haar me is tegengevallen. Heartwarming story of childhood friendships, love and animals, what more could you want!!
I absolutely loved the story of Roo and Theo reconnecting and reminding their childhood friendship, when Roo comes back to Strawberry Sands for her new job. It's a heartwarming story, full of happy tears and sad with the work at the animal rescue centre they both volunteer at. When it's future is put in jeopardy as the landlord wants to sell the land, can the community come together to save it?
If you've read some of Holly's previous books, old favourite characters pop up from time to time, but you don't need to have read them to enjoy the book, it can be read stand alone.

Second in series but, can be a stand alone read.
I read this quite quickly as the storyline is quite basic. Roo returns home after 14 year. She has a new job to look forward to and is hopeful that Theo and some of her other friends will still be living in Apple Hill Bay.
Much to her delight most of her friends have not moved away and Theo's mum/family actually own the beach hut hotel where she is staying.
She bumps into Theo, they go out for a meal and... Could this be the start of something she has always dreamed of or has she just slept with her new boss and things take on and interesting turn?

It was a nice book - wildlife, cute animals and all. But the book lacked any story. Given the friends were meeting after 14 years, I thought the book was going to build out how they fall in love or confess to one another, but within the first few pages itself everything sets itself nicely, and then the whole storyline changes to a workplace dilemma etc. It just felt like the story was everywhere except for the places it had to focus on to make the blurb and the trope of the book feel apt for what was just read. It felt like the book moved way fast and forward from every issue. There was no build up or actual work being put in most of them for the reader to feel engrossed in the work.

I love Holly’s books, I feel like I am a part of them from the very beginning. This time was no different as we returned to Apple Hill Bay. This is the second book in the series, but could be read as a standalone.
Roo is returning to Apple Hill Bay having left for America fourteen years ago, she doesn’t expect to be seeing familiar faces especially that of her childhood best friend Theo, thinking that they would have moved on. So is completely surprised when she bumps into him on her first day back. Can they recover their friendship, especially after their secrets are revealed?
Roo and Theo were lovely characters, who I warmed too instantly. In the book we also had guest appearances from characters from the first book set in Apple Hill Bay, Sunshine and Secrets at Blackberry Beach, which was great to catch up with them.
The connection was instant between Roo and Theo as they were reunited.
There was a lovely theme in the book for animal lovers with wildlife and wildlife rescue being a factor into the story.
As always with Holly’s books the scenery sounds beautiful and is what makes me so desperate to live in her books.
I can’t wait to return to Apple Hill Bay again for Christmas Wishes at Cranberry Cove which is due to come out towards the end of this year.

Wat schrijft Holly Martin toch heerlijke feelgood waarbij je alles even vergeet en gewoon kunt wegdromen met een fijn verhaal.
Apple Hill Bay is een gezellig dorp aan de kust waar je zo wil gaan wonen. Romantiek, levensechte personages en een hartverwarmend verhaal waar genoeg diepgang in zit, dit boek zal je hart veroveren. De cover is heel erg mooi en past perfect bij dit romantische verhaal aan zee. Dit is zo'n boek dat je met een lach op je gezicht en een warm gevoel van binnen leest, echte feelgood dus!

Holly heeft een fijne en vlotte schrijfstijl en geeft haar personages genoeg lagen waardoor het geen moment saai is. Een feelgood moet voor mij wel wat diepgang hebben zodat het niet te oppervlakkig blijft. Nou dat heeft dit boek genoeg! Aurora "Roo" en Theo hebben elkaar jaren niet gezien en als ze elkaar weer zien in het café op de top van de klif in Apple Hill Bay zijn alle gevoelens weer terug. Holly bezit de kracht om de lezer dit ook echt te laten voelen. Maar iets onverwachts kan hun tweede kans in gevaar brengen...zullen ze het samen redden?
Wat ik zelf erg leuk vond is de toevoeging van een wildlife rescue. Als dierenliefhebber geeft dit wat extra's aan het verhaal en je krijgt nog meer respect voor al die helden.
Het heerlijke dorp aan de kust en de fijne bewoners zijn zo goed beschreven dat je het helemaal voor je ziet. In een goede feelgood zorgt de schrijver ervoor dat je vrienden met de personages wil zijn en dat kan Holly als geen ander. Ook zijn haar personages niet perfect, Roo en Theo hebben beiden veel meegemaakt en deze emoties toevoegen zorgt voor veel herkenning en sleept je nog meer mee.
Wat heb ik dit boek met veel plezier gelezen, het is los te lezen maar het is natuurlijk leuker om ook deel 1 "Zonnestralen boven Blackberry beach" te lezen en dat is zeker geen straf want het is genieten van begin tot eind!
Ik kijk al uit naar het derde deel dat in het najaar verschijnt.

Van uitgeverij Z&K kreeg een ebook als recensie-exemplaar voor dit tweede deel uit de ‘Apple Hill Bay’ serie met de titel: ‘Het strandhuis op Stawberry Sands’ van schrijfster Holly Martin.
Ik durf met recht te zeggen dat haar grootste mannelijke fan ben want ik ken iig geen andere man die haar boeken leest laat staan er out en proud over is 😉
De boeken van Holly kenmerken zich door gesitueerd te zijn in idyllische dorpjes op prachtige plekken langs de Engelse kust of op kleine eilandjes voor diezelfde Engelse kust. Een vast gegeven zijn daarbij kleurrijke huisjes, gemeenschapszin, liefde en heel veel lekker eten. Vooral taarten en muffins doen het altijd goed. Steek ik nu de draak met deze boeken? Zeer zeker niet. Holly neemt je mee naar een wereld vol liefde en genegenheid en leidt je weg van de harde dagelijkse realiteit. In het Duits zouden ze zeggen: Es ist herlich Süss. Juist deze ideale wereld is een welkome afwisseling tussen de literatuur en bloederige thrillers die ik lees. Is het hoogstaand nee maar wel een paar uur kostelijke leesvoer.
Terug naar het boek. In dit tweede deel , keert Roo terug naar Apple Hill Bay en wordt ze herenigd met haar oude beste vriend Theo. Roo Clarke keert na veertien jaar terug naar haar geboorteplaats Apple Hill Bay, met de hoop dat haar nieuwe baan en een charmante strandhut haar hart weer kunnen vullen. Ik durf met recht te zeggen dat haar grootste mannelijke fan ben want ik ken iig geen andere man die haar boeken leest laat staan er out en proud over is 😉
De boeken van Holly kenmerken zich door gesitueerd te zijn in idyllische dorpjes op prachtige plekken langs de Engelse kust of op kleine eilandjes voor diezelfde Engelse kust. Een vast gegeven zijn daarbij kleurrijke huisjes, gemeenschapszin, liefde en heel veel lekker eten. Vooral taarten en muffins doen het altijd goed. Steek ik nu de draak met deze boeken? Zeer zeker niet. Holly neemt je mee naar een wereld vol liefde en genegenheid en leidt je weg van de harde dagelijkse realiteit. In het Duits zouden ze zeggen: Es ist herlich Süss. Juist deze ideale wereld is een welkome afwisseling tussen de literatuur en bloederige thrillers die ik lees. Is het hoogstaand nee maar wel een paar uur kostelijke leesvoer.
Terug naar het boek. In dit tweede deel , keert Roo terug naar Apple Hill Bay en wordt ze herenigd met haar oude beste vriend Theo. Roo Clarke keert na veertien jaar terug naar haar geboorteplaats Apple Hill Bay, met de hoop dat haar nieuwe baan en een charmante strandhut haar hart weer kunnen vullen. As a huge fan of this author, I couldn't wait to delve straight into this.
From that first page this book is a real joy to read, you'll find yourself reading along with a huge grin on your face.
Absolutely loved these characters they are the sweetest and clearly destined to be together.
I also loved the animals in this book.
If you're looking for a book that will make you happy then this is the one for you.

Holly Martin books are lovely, they're easy to read and always have a contained story.
Holly's books are community books whereby characters from other books appear in each other's. She captures the seasons really well and I always look forward to the Christmas book.

2,5 sterren. Dit deel van de Apple bay serie is niet zo slecht als het vorige. Dat komt onder meer door de hoofdpersonen die aansprekender zijn en een vlot plot. De sexscenes zijn beschaafd. Maar wat is dat toch met honden in deze serie en andere dieren. Past voor mij niet in het hele plaatje. Ik zit qua Holly Martin boeken echt even in een mindere streak. Misschien maar weer eens wat oude boeken teruglezen.

Yes it was a good story but , i would like a book that i didnt have to skip the what should be in the bedroom , with the door shut . a story that yes people fallen love . But not share what goes on behind a closed door ...I know you may think i am prude , but there more too life , a writers image of what happens

As per usual, I love Holly Martin's feel-good romances. I loved both the main characters and how they communicated with each other. I bet this is what a perfectly healthy relationship looks like.
I am looking forward to the next instalment and reading more about the Lucas Family as well as Apple Hill Bay.

I get it, there are tropes and that's just how it goes. But 'two people who had unrequited love for each other in high school but somehow never expressed it, and then stopped talking entirely for a decade because Reasons' isn't a good one. And this book does not do the work needed to rescue the silly premise.
