This is the final book in the series. Overall, I enjoyed the series. There were lots of characters coming and going in the story, but it didn't get confusing.
The telepathy and mind control elements are definitely built up during the series. To be honest, I didn't fully understand what they could fully do and why everyone had different powers... It's never fully explained, and I don't think the characters knew either.
There is a lot of action in this series, with lots of things happening... but it all started to feel very pesamistic. Just as soon as they seemed settled, someone else turned up either trying to kidnap or kill someone. I feel like the story needed more happiness.
I liked the side characters, I wish there had been time to get to know them better, but they were always just in the background or mentioned in passing.
In book 2, I found myself liking Maggie less and less, and this didn't change in book 3. Everything seemed to revolve around he, and I'm not sure why, as Tate was the main target.
The romance... this is a RH, and we do have 4 men interested in Maggie, which was established in book 2. But nothing happens, it was a slow burn, almost non-existent RH. Other than one scene in book two where she got n@ked with one of the guys, nothing other than a kiss happened on page, and it wasn't even implied that anything happened off page and that was disappointing. I don't think I have ever read an RH where nothing really happens. Romance definitely took a back seat in this series.
The ending is a bit anti-climatic. It happens fast, and then it's all over. I was expecting there to be a bit more to it than there was.
I really enjoyed this series. It was action packed and even though several of the characters didn't feel completely fleshed out, the character dynamics were my favorite aspect. It also helped that the romance was more of a sub-plot so I didn't feel the need to feel like I fully knew each of the male love interests. I would recommend this series to those who enjoy apocalypse stories with romantic elements.
Lots of adventure and if this was a movie, it would be non-stop action! Maybe a fantasy for some women would be to have several men in love with you at once, but in this trilogy I couldn’t see how these guys didn’t kill each other. Finally, I was happy to see that the villain got what was coming to him.
Maggie's family continues to struggle, and by staying strong together they manage to grow into a new lifestyle. It is a story of sorrow and joy, mixed with action and a bit of romance.
