He bullied and rejected me until my heart was in pieces. Now he’s back in our small town—as a billionaire and single dad who needs a nanny for his kid. And guess who gets appointed for the job, unable to refuse? Me. But I’m not the young girl I once was. And I won’t let him humiliate me ever again.
He’s confident and ruthless, and doesn’t let anyone get in his way. But I know the small heart underneath his fur. I’ve seen who he really is. I won’t allow him to get to me again, no matter how my body reacts to him. All I have to do it remember the pain he caused me and use my magic to protect myself.
But my determination cannot stop the dreams and visions from coming. They make me blush and stutter, and release the tension that’s built up in my belly. They make me play risky games, exposing myself until I can’t take anymore. But when I’m too weak to protect myself from the pain, will he hurt and reject me again?
Or will he finally heal what he’s broken?
The small town of Stardust Hollow is full of wolves who will fight to protect you, howl to impress you, and claim your lips to win your love. Because a true wolf won’t let go until he gets what he wants…his mate.
Lyra Atlas was born in Oakland to an English mother and Scottish dad who passed on to her their fascination with the Arthurian Legends and other tales of famous kings and queens. Unsurprisingly, Lyra developed a penchant for court love and everything that’s magical and mystical—and this seeps into her writing. Her stories often feature powerful alphas braved by quietly seductive females and other unexpected, inspiring heroines.
Lyra lives with her partner Mark in San Diego, and cherishes their daily strolls along the Strand. When looking for inspiration, she goes for a hike in the charming mountain town of Julian where she will lose herself observing the Victorian-style houses and quaint stores, envisioning stories of bygone lovers, their stolen hearts, kisses and touches.
Selene was bullied by Connor throughout high school to the point that after she graduated she moved into the forest away from others in the pack. Connor went into the secret service and after getting out started up his own company buying and selling real estate. When he decides it's time to move back to the pack for his son's sake his pack alpha and good friend, Ram, find him the perfect nanny for Andrew, Selene. Seeing Connor hasn't changed much she's not sure how long she'll be able keep working for him.
Here's my problem with this book... It's just like 80% of the other second chance books out there. The FL talks tough about not getting involved with her high school bully, but then 36% into the story she's throwing her clothes off for him. Since she didn't bother to wait and let him prove he's changed she's hurt when he treats her like dirt after sex. Of course, she still hasn't learned her lesson because she sleeps with him again and -surprise surprise- he again treats her like nothing. If you're going to start out the book with the FL being tough then follow through with it for the rest of the book and don't turn her into a doormat as soon as possible.
Selene, a witch, was bullied so badly that she retreated to live alone in the woods. Members of the pack visited her when they needed help and eventually, she moved back to town as a pack member. Connor moves back to town with his son after making his fortune, knowing his son needed the freedom of the pack to thrive. His best-friend and alpha organise a nanny for him and when he arrives is surprised to see the girl be bullied as a cruel youth, has grown into a beautiful woman. A woman who hates him! After being given a second and third chance, Connor proves he is still the selfish, cruel boy from school, bullying and using Selene but when she defends his son and is injured, he realises his stupid mistake, but is it too little too late? I really enjoyed this story: Selene is such a lovely, forgiving person, some might say she is too good to be true, but our life experiences shape us – she could have become a twisted, bitter person but chose not to and Connor should be on his knees thanking fate for Selene and her big heart. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
Well, dang, I was hoping for angst followed by a LOT of groveling. There were some nice dashes of the former (thanks to the hero, who was pretty much a jerk), but not NEARLY enough of the latter. It’s not that Conner history bullying Selene to the point of self-exile is never discussed, it just didn’t feel like it was truly contended with; the suspense subplot overshadowed it (and was a bit confusing to boot; the Secret Service are bodyguards who don’t really experience any action, but this book would have you believing they’re the C.I.A.). To be fair, part of the low rating also stems from my personal dislike of billionaire heroes. Like, fine, make him rich, but not one single billionaire got to where they are through their “own sweat and hard work,” as Connor claims. It is literally impossible to make billions through your own labor, exploitation of others is required to accrue that kind of capital, and I just don’t like valorizing that kind of behavior.
That said, there is another book in the series with a rejected heroine, and she’s plus size, so I’ll be giving that one a shot lol.
This is the fourth book in this series. This story is about Connor Boland a wolf shifter who's a very hardnosed billionaire real estate businessman and Selene a witch. This story is a second chance, alpha male wolf shifter, billionaire, and nanny romance story. It was a very enjoyable read with its engaging and likable characters (Loved adorable Andrew), along with the twisty drama, and steamy romance. Connor has returned back home to his pack the Stardust Hollow. He just bought a house and needs a nanny for his seven-year-old son, Andrew. He's looking forward to spending more time with Andrew and introducing him to the pack life. His alpha and friend Ram recommends a witch whose been looking after the kids in the pack. Then he meets her and memories flood in about how she had a crush on him and how he bullied her in high school. Conner sees how much she's grown into a beauty that his wolf wants her. Can he resist the draw, and can Selene put their past behind for Andrew's sake, who adores her? I volunteer to read and review this copy I'd received.
A fast paced paranormal romance between Conner - a wolf shifter, and Selene - a witch. There's a ton of tropes in this story, boss/employee romance, rejection, billionaire boss, nanny romance, childhood crush, enemy to lover, forced proximity, and fated mates. It's an interesting story with a wolf shifter in denial of his feelings and the mate bonds, and Selene who still has feelings for her childhood crush but is also conflicted from the bullying she endured from him when they were younger, and his still seemingly arrogant personality. The only buffer between them fighting or running away is Andrew, Conner's sweet kid who Selene has been hired to babysit as the live in nanny. There's action, drama, conflicted feelings, spicy scenes, and romance.
A female witch is hired to be a nanny to a young male wolf shifter. She forms a quick relationship with the child. She then meets his father whom she has known since high school and didn't have a good relationship with back then. You will have to read the book to find out what all happens to everyone. There is a kidnapping by humans, along with torture. So watch out for those who have triggers. Happy reading!

Conner was definitely a jerk in high school! Selene did not trust him one bit. One minute he was nice and the next he was a jerk again. When Selene is kidnapped he finally realizes t him that he loves her and would not e able to go on if she is killed! You will have to read the book to see what happens and how the book ends.
I had this copy as an ARC. Unfortunately for me, I don't like DNFing a book so I pushed through while huffing with annoyance while reading. It's not the plot or the trope I guess it's just the writing style. Not for me apparently.
Good story and ties in to series. Left with questions such as what happened to betraying partner and how did they cover up the rogue agents actions and disappeance? Like the series and hope rest of books touch on open issues and have good wrap ups.
