There have been many books about this astonishing artist, most of them written as celebrations of his creative abundance. Timothy Hilton has a more challenging to define Picasso's achievement and his place within twentieth-century art. 207 illus., 30 in color.
The text is very scholarly, and I couldn’t follow it, but there are an enormous number of pictures of Picasso’s art so I ended up just looking at all of them.
This is one of many books on Picasso, an easy read. Lots of the book is taken up with the artist's numerous paintings and sketches. The book gives a reasonable overview of his life, without going its great depth. I found some of the criticisms of Picasso's work towards the end of the book a bit odd, as the book was largely without critique of his work up until then.
