Skhiff and Eldor, two naughty elves, got into trouble when they put pants on a moose. As a punishment, they were assigned to shovel reindeer poop. But Eldor, who was always up to something, suddenly craved pizza. And to his surprise, Santa's sleigh was waiting there to be taken for a ride.
On the other hand, Max Fernsby, a 10-year-old boy, along with his friends Baxter and Leoni, stumbled upon some pizza boxes and a big red bag. Later that night, Max talked to himself about what he wished for Christmas, knowing he'd never get them. But suddenly, everything he had hoped for appeared out of the red bag. Max and his friends could conjure any toy, leading them to mischief. However, a mean billionaire also had his eyes on the red bag.
Great job! What a hilarious and fast-paced book filled with the Christmas spirit! This story is perfect for anyone who wants to get into the holiday mood. Have you ever experienced the Christmas spirit before?
The book is excellent, and it's easy to get caught up in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Elves' and Max's Mischief. However, I didn't like the multibillionaire because he was selfish and only cared about money.
Overall, this book is a fun and quick read that captures the essence of the holiday season. The book has all the elements of a great holiday movie.
Happy Christmas Reading, Laly 📚 🎄
Thank you, @harperkids @theshelfstuff, for sending me a copy of your book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Yep, I read Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys in January.
I always read books before giving them to my Grands (sorry publishers, despite your effusive lauds, I decide for myself for MY grands. Thank you to libraries for allowing me to do so.)
I read quite a few books before deciding what Christmas books to give, but I hadn't read Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys. I ordered it as soon as I finished it today and asked eldest Grand's Mom to explain that no, Grandma is not crazy sending him a Christmas book three weeks after Christmas.
Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys is charming and funny with a few sad bits. It features mischievous elves, a recalcitrant reindeer, the evil owner of the mega Rainforest.com (ahem) putting local toy stores out of business and the adventures of all.
Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys is for ages 8–12-year-olds. I usually say that the books are too old for that age but this one is spot on and could very well be for a good reader in second grade and will definitely be loved by children to whom it's read.
Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys and its illustrations are wonderful.
This is already my favorite Christmas book of this year. An easy and fast-read story.
I love the humor, all characters (even the mean ones playing their funny part), and the mishaps that lead to such a great end. When Max (a 10-year-old orphan) gets his hands on a red bag... that accidentally falls from Santa's sleigh because two elves decided to treat themselves with pizza... for being the first elves to put pants on a moose... Ahahah It's awesome.
All that Max wants is a puppy. The bag gives Max all the toys he wishes for and gives him and his friends ideas... The bag becomes an opportunity to change the lives of many and bring joy.
Of course that some of the adults are very cranky, mean, and evil. They will try to get their greedy hands on such treasure, will they succeed?
Has nice and fun illustrations. Love the cover Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Max Fernsby finds himself in an interesting position when a magical red bag falls from the sky onto his head. The bag is capable of producing any toy he can imagine. While having the bag allows Max to solve some of his problems, it also causes other ones. Like the fact that the bag is Santa's and was lost by two of his mischievous elves. If they don't get the bag back Christmas will be ruined. There is also a greedy businessman who intends to steal the bag from Max and sell the toys to make him rich.
I enjoyed listening to Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys. I found myself laughing at the silly situations the characters get into and the voices the narrator gives them.
If you are looking for a fun holiday read about friendship, magic, and toy-related hijacks, I would recommend picking up the audiobook for Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys by Gerry Swallow and Peter Gaulke.
This is a very imaginative story about a boy named Max and his 2 friends, Baxter and Leoni. They are a group of 10-year-olds looking to have fun and go on adventures. The trio find Santa's magical toy sack that produces whatever the kids wish for. They, of course, ask for toys and other fun things and the bag doesn't hesitate to provide them with there every desire. They try all sorts of things with the toys, selling them, using the bag to rescue a girl for a burning building, and other fun adventures. They hope no one will find out about the bag, especially the government or military. This is a great book all year round, not just for Christmas. The authors make the story enjoyable for kids (grades 3-6) and adults!
What do you get when you combine a couple of Santa's elves who can't seem to get things right, a group of mischievous and creative friends, bizarrely strict and frugal foster parents, an adorable puppy, a ruthless billionaire online retailer, and Santa's magical toy bag? You get this quirky, and often ridiculous tale of holiday mayhem. This lightly illustrated novel starts with pants on a North Pole moose and ends with unexpected tenderness. Most of the action is too contrived to be even remotely believable; for example, main character Max's foster father forces Max to scrub teeth he has pulled in his dental practice so they can be reused to make dentures. The sincere moments in the story are overshadowed by the absurdity at every turn. Having said that, I often have readers requesting holiday themed stories and those who enjoy slapstick comedy will find a lot to make them smile in Max Fernsby's adventures. The thinly veiled reference Jeff Bezos's Amazon will go over most young readers' heads, but the message of holiday meaning just might stick.
Max Fernsby and the Infinite Toys is a sort of silly read that kids will enjoy, but I don't see it becoming a classic. This illustrated book is fast-moving with a bit of bathroom humor. Rambunctious elves and a heroic main character make this a fun read.
This book is heartwarming but is still hilariously funny. I really enjoyed reading this book about an orphan named Max who explores the true meaning of Christmas. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever read “A Boy Called Christmas.”
Somewhat predictable but still thoroughly enjoyable, a feel good Christmas story, with lots of little chuckles. I could see this becoming an animated movie.
This Book is a new classic ❤️ I loved reading every single page of it...the ending is what I loved the most ❤️ it was as if I was watching a movie...great book❤️
Lots of people are rating this book highly but to me it was boring and unfunny. I was expecting something much better than this, but I did not get that at all.
I loved this book. I love everything about it. I love Max and his group of friends. I love the idea of how the next Santa is discovered. I even love how Elder and Skhiff seem to not fit into the North Pole, but sometimes you just need to find the right thing. This book made my heart happy, it filled me with Christmas joy, and just was a pleasure to read. Young readers are going to love Max and all the different antics he gets up to. They are also going to love the beautiful artwork. So excited to recommend it for the upcoming holiday season. Thank you to Harper Collins Children’s Books and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy.
